 The mare's laughter bubbled into shrill gasping breaths, "That is the most amusing thing you've said all day!"Words gave way to giggles and then she drew in a deep breath, composure regained and eyes narrowed in something like humored power, "We've had this conversation before, dear. Try as you might, I give better blessings than you," and because Doom brought out the cockiness most, she rolled a shoulder forward and dipped her head. "At least you have your hair, we can't all be multi-talented."

Doom blinked and almost voiced her current musings: a what if scenario built on the surmise of target practice where she would shoot flames to try to quell the wisps that Lull would send her way. It made for a good sporting chance. Brought back to the subject on hand, it was a no brainer she wasn't a fan of blessings and could not remember the last time she performed one.
"Yes" she replied noncommittally as she imagined what would happen if she zapped her most revered foe with a wasp sting or fire puff. Her hair and tail bobbed enthusiastically at the idea, but the competitive fire in her burned fiercer.
"Now onto the next victim then!"

That last part had been mean but the audacity to suggest the impatient flaying wasp gave better blessings than she did. She wasn't sorry; the truth had to be accepted, regardless of boasts.
"Onto the next," she agreed, eyes calculating the other mare. That yes was much too tame, especially with the enthusiastic head and tail bob. A hunger for duck struck her briefly but that would have to wait. First a doe to bless.
It was a brief journey -- of course it would be, it was her life, and despite two damn disciples, she had an insane knack for finding these nuisances -- as she followed that much hated feeling to a doe. Lull in Sunlight snorted, this doe looked pissed. A grin, bordering on cruel, erupted. No way she'd be impressed with Doom's attempts. She had this, easy.
"It's your lucky, lucky day," the mare began, stepping forward. "We're going to bless you and you can tell us who does it better." The tone, while playful, did not offer room for argument.

"OOo-rah! Time to give it the old razzle dazzle" interjected Doom, a musical lilt in her voice. "After you, Lull!" There was a time when she would have said something to the effect of "Age before beauty" but their relationship had evolved since then. Doom was feeling magnanimous.

Huni Pi Craves was not having a good day. It began with waking up to find her familiar FEAR had skittered off in the night to Motherfather knew where. She'd given the giant spider strict instructions to never stray too far from her, so of course the wretch went off and did the exact opposite. In her search, she ran across him again. The tiny ember of annoyance in her chest began to smolder into irritation as the longer their interaction went on. Craves knew the buck was goading her and though her hooves itched to stomp that smug look off his face, she resisted because that was clearly what he wanted. And she'll be damned if she'd concede to his wishes. When they parted ways, her irritation had grown to seething and Craves resumed her search for Fear. She swore to the Motherfather that if she didn't find a sign of her familiar soon she was going to squish the giant spider into mush when she finally found it. The absolute last thing the doe expected was to suddenly be in the company of two mares. Fiery eyes narrowed at the black and white mare's declaration of her so-called fortune. "Not interested," she groused out and tried to walk around the pair.

Lull's intent to remark that the other mare wanted to cheat by observing a master, dried up in her throat and she let out the most undignified sputter. Not interested? Indeed she was so blindsided by the rebuff that her mare form began to fade -- a screech from a half visible gryphon made it quite obvious what she thought of that retort -- until she reined herself in. If she lost her cool now, Doom would win and she'd never live it down or hear the end of it.
Bodily, she encroached, shifting so that mare, owlcat, and gryphon began to encircle the doe from one side. (And Motherfather was it difficult to be all three at once, especially when she was so pissed.)
"I'll forgive your rudeness, this once," she warned, voice oozing faux kindness, "and start with a blessing of manners."

Doom sighed audibly and shook her hair in satisfaction at a chore finished by someone other than herself.
"Now that the pesky blessing is over, let's go hunt." Lull got her kicks, the wandering ornery doe was in for a surprise, and there was still time for her favorite pasttime. Doom sauntered off, certain Lull would be following soon.
As the wind changed direction so did her mood. With that, her perspective shifted, she came back and added just for fun, "And on top of that, they will be master provocateurs who enjoy sharp words and equally stinging and stabbing proned animals."

...sometimes she really thought one of them was going senile and it wasn't her.
Teeth snapped together, violent, as Doom seemed to have forgotten or given up the whole game. Words meant to rebuke were swallowed as the mare's mood seemed to switch on a frog's turn. Seriously? Had she dined on mushrooms for breakfast?
"That's your idea--" she couldn't help the incredulous shock that roiled through her body. Of all the things... She huffed, eyes narrowed. Doom was surely trying to piss her off. (And how cliche and juvenile; it was working.)
"Oh, she'd must rather have master hunters, and, Motherfather knows she couldn't get that from you!" she hurled back.

"And they will have breaths strong enough to fell dragons. They will conquer their enemies quickly." Doom had been rusty with blessings but she was getting better at it. Or better at Ribbing Lull.

Well that was uncalled for. Really, she had to put some sense into that before the idiots went after eagles.
"They'll have common sense and not come back to their mother covered in bloody talon scratches," she said, voice firm. And then, because she couldn't resist, "They shall enjoy asking all of life's little questions to mares named Doom."

"Greatness begets responsibilities and I will have no qualms sharing my wisdom with little apostles." Doom paused for dramatic effect. "And as I am very benevolent and generous in all of my life dealings, I must really commend my... colleague, Lull-in-Sunlight for her knack with blessings. And for this blessing, I will impart a.. kinship for the Mare I speak out so that you may find her whenever you can for your blessings. Let it be known that Lull-in-Sunlight is patron Mare of blessings."
Okay, maybe that was overkill, but she was having fun and the stars were many.

"...sadist," Lull muttered flatly. "May they fear pink and wilt at shadows lest they be mauled by unlucky owlcats and vicious gryphons and violent mares," she leveled back, looking just a touch like she might maul Doom first.
