Username: Zempre Preference List: Megaloceros, Dire Wolf, Gingko, Bronze Devilsaur Foods Title: Fossil Cake Inspiration: When I was a kid I wanted to be either a archaeologist but never became one when I realized that unfortunately such a career is not practical for me atm. However, this is as close as I can get! Entry: Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc: Cake: Ingredients: 3 (1 ounce) squares of unsweetened chocolate 2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour 1 3/4 cups of white sugar 1 3/4 teaspoons of baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2/3 cup of shortening 1 1/3 cups of milk 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 2 eggs Cooking: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) pans. In the top of a double boiler, heat chocolate, stirring occasionally, until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool to lukewarm. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat shortening until smooth. Add flour mixture, 1 cup of the milk and vanilla. Mix on low speed until flour is dampened, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs, remaining 1/3 cup milk and melted chocolate. Beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool. Bones/Dirt: Bones are made using Dinosaur Sand Molds (ie, used for playing at beaches or parks). After adding a small coat of veg. oil to ensure the molds would release, I began to slowly melt the white chocolate. The heat was on warm and with a nonstick saucer, I slowly began to add white chocolate chips into the saucer as they melted, continuously stirring to avoid burning. Once the chocolate was melted, I began to fill the molds 3/4ths of the way. They were then put upon a plate and placed into a freezer where they chilled while the cake baked. Once finished chilling, they were removed, pop from molds and then brushed with a bit of cinnamon to give an 'aged' look. For the Dirt, I took chocolate Teddy Gram crackers, placed them in a bag..and smashed it with a meat tenderizer...>.>

[ Edited in a more air like view that my room mate took, so you can see more detail of the cake ] Username: techabyte Preference List: Direwolf | Devilsaur | Gingko | Pass Foods Title: Dino Dig Cake Inspiration: Saw a post on Tumblr when looking for my birthday cake design; ran with it. Entry:
[ Click for fullsize picture. More detail :3 ]

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc: - Preheat oven to 350 Degrees. Combine all cake mix ingredients ( the box, water, eggs, oil ) in a bowl and then pour it into the cake pan. Bake for about 26 minutes. - Let the cake cool completely! Very important! - Once it was cool, I laid out all the "dino" fossil parts. I wanted to make sure that I knew the layout properly. Trace around in a little bit bigger area with a knife, before removing the dino bits and carving out the center of the cake in different depths, but not too deep! Don't want the pan showing! - Decided to frost it next. At this point I realized I wanted a bit more pop, so ran to the store to get mint oreos ( not in picture cause I suck ). I combined the frosting with some mascarpone cheese for a bonus flavor and to change the color a bit. Crumbled some of the oreos to sprinkle on top for "dirt". - Once the frosting was mostly inside, I placed the dino parts back into the dig site, and covered some of the parts with frosting. - Now it was detail work time! Using rock candy ( the sugar kind ) and candy rocks ( the chocolate kind ) I placed them around to make it more realistic and to pop. Rosemary twigs were used to appear like grass ( but don't eat it with the cake, kids! ) Used a shishkabob stick that I cut ( toothpicks were too small >> ) and some twine to make a rope and a sign, and the dig site was complete and ready for an excavation!
- Of course I can't turn my back on it at all though; cause little raptor decided he wanted some cake. Silly little thing.

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
Meringue Bones: This was a trying process since I've never made Meringue before lol. Trial and error right? Took 6 egg whites and 1 1/2 cups of sugar and whisked it in a bowl that was sitting in a pan of simmering water until the sugar dissolved. After that I placed the bowl on the counter and attached the whisk to the beater and mixed it (had to put everything back into the bowl and continue mixing) until it was sturdy. Placed it in a ziplock bag and cut a hole in one of the ends and designed the bones on the baking sheets. Unfortunately they didn't come off the sheets so nicely. I'm going to lay them out tomorrow and take a picture. I'm limited on what I have so it's basically going to be a pile of bones that you piece together to try and make a dinosaur you can eat. XDUnless there is a surprise familiar I am no longer eligible to win a SOQ <3

Follow instructions as stated on your package. Pour the liquid into an icecube tray about halfway. Place whole or chopped up blueberries into the jello mixture. Put into freezer for 20 minutes to help solidify and then pour the rest of the liquid into the icecube tray. Then after that I put into the fridge and let it set for an hour. Place and serve! OPTIONAL; During time of solidifying you can create an area for this sweet treats! I dyed coffee strainers with food colouring/ water. Then used materials for placement. Like so and put cling wrap on top to protect the place-mat and the jello from sticking! ALSO OPTIONAL. Freeze these jello amber cubes and place into a sprite for a cool effect!

Username: Junglerunner Preference List: Direwolf, Gingko, Devilsaur, re-roll/pass. Foods Title: Dino cake. Inspiration: I am confident at baking but I lacked a little inspiration with the theme so I googled ‘dinosaur cake’. I liked the dino dig cakes so picked a chocolate cake and there is one recipe I’ve wanted to do for a while with four different layers of vanilla, caramel, caramel chocolate and chocolate and this seemed like a good time to try it, plus it’s kinda like all the different rock colours you see when you have a diagram/cross section of rocks with various fossils in various levels. The 3D dinosaur cakes, well I just had to try those for fun when I saw the mould in town on Saturday.
Entry:

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
The 3D Dinosaur Cakes. Ingredients: 100g Butter 130g White caster sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp vanilla bean paste (I use this instead of extract as I like to see the flecks of vanilla, plus it tastes nicer) 170g SR flour 3 tsp whole milk Gel food colouring.
1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 4. Grease the moulds with butter. Cream together the butter and sugar. 2. Whisk in the eggs (I add a tbsp of the flour to stop it curdling) 3. Mix in the vanilla then add the flour and milk and beat. 4. Divide into three bowls and add the gel colours, I used green, blue and red. 5. Place the batter into the moulds then Bake for 20 minutes. 6. Allow to cool in their moulds then turn out and ice as you wish.
The Chocolate and Caramel Ombre Cake. Ingredients: For the Chocolate and Vanilla sponges: 225g butter 225g golden caster sugar 175g SR flour 1 tsp baking powder 3 eggs 85g ground almonds 150g pot of natural yoghurt 1 tsp vanilla bean paste 5 tbsp cocoa powder
For the caramel and chocolate caramel sponges: 225g butter 175g light muscovado sugar 50g dark muscovado sugar 175g SR flour 1 tsp baking powder 3 eggs 85g ground almonds 150g pot of natural yoghurt 1 tsp vanilla bean paste 1 tbsp cocoa powder
Chocolate ganache: 130g milk chocolate 130g dark chocolate 300ml double cream. 1 jar of salted caramel sauce (I am capable of making this but with everything else I was simply saving time.)
1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 4. Grease and line 2 20cm sandwich tins. 2. Mix together all the (chocolate and vanilla) sponge ingredients besides the cocoa. 3. Divide the batter into two then in one half add the cocoa, beat then place in the tins and bake for 25 minutes. 4. Allow to cool in the tins before turning out onto a wire rack to cool. 5. Clean the tins, re-line then repeat the steps for the caramel and chocolate caramel sponges. 6. Whilst the cakes are cooling melt the chocolate. 7. Mix the cream into the melted chocolate then allow to cool. 8. Layer the vanilla sponge on the bottom then spread a third of the salted caramel sauce over the sponge. Repeat, adding the caramel sponge, then the chocolate caramel sponge then the chocolate sponge. 9. Cover the whole cake in the chocolate ganache. I have then decorated with bronze, chocolate covered honeycomb pieces.
