He gazed at the mountains his face portrayed an enigmatic expression. In many ways this landscape was similar to his birthplace but The air did not smell of pine and the water was not crystal clear like a diamond. Still this new place was is home and well isolated it was a haven. The snow fell softly throughout the day and the lack of oxygen did not bother him much. His ancestors had lived in mountains throughout the different generations. The air would cause many soq to weaken and fall faint which pleased him. Xue Fang enjoyed the thought that his home had natural defenses. If his enemies should perish through the elements he would find enjoyment in their deaths. While it was true he would most enjoy their deaths at his paws, a death by the elements would be fitting. Let snow and ice smother fiery heat until the flames became embers and the embers nothing but ash. All fire elementals soq should perish, they were unnatural. He would never forgot the day they attacked his herd. The attack was sudden and the Yuki Onna fighters were overwhelmed. He had lost his immediate family and their death had scared him to his soul. During the battle he was wounded and fell unconscious. While he was unconscious the mist that were a part of him covered him in their protection and he was overlooked by the invading herd. When he woke he was alone ..and injured. His herd had been like one big family. All soq of the same generation were considered cousins whether they had blood ties or not. All elder members were considered Aunt and Uncle. It was common for several soq families to raise foals between them. All the herd members were part of an extended family and each herd members death ate at him. He was part of the warriors caste and he was unable to protect them. The guilt twisted him from inside. Later he learned the attack was well planed by a different fire herds that had formed an alliance. They wanted to expand their territory into snow spirit territory Besides his herd other snow spirit herds were attacked and killed. He had planned on joining another snow spirit herd and while he didn't have close ties with members from other herds their death also weighed on him. It was common for a male or female herd member to find a mate from another snow spirit herd or with one of their animal oriented allied herds. Most herd members viewed other soq within a herd as family and even herd members that were adopted still mostly picked mates from outside the herd. Xue Fang had dreamed of courting a female from a different snow spirit herd. Since he was a Yuki Onna as well as a snow spirit he would of had in easy time. However what would have been was well into the past. His regrets always weighed down on him but he did have joy in his life. Several herd members had survived the attack and had tracked him down to his home in the eastern mountains. He was no longer alone.
