"No, it's okay," Henry said softly, holding the phone with both hands. There wasn't a single tone of worry in his voice and his expression seemed quite content. "It'll just take me a little longer to get home, is all. Yeah. I'll bring home something for you on the way. It won't be too late, Ethiriel -- not unless you're tired."
Normally, Henry worked days at Gambino hospital near his home -- the commute to Durem was quite a long one, but as the staff was short handed, he offered his own to aid them in whatever they needed. Gambino was nice enough to let him spend a day or two taking care of the needy kids off of the island and he was glad to help. Nothing was more satisfying to the nurse than helping others -- especially younger children.
"See if Gabe wants me to bring home something, too."
Pushing open the door, Henry was met and passed by one of the main staff here in Durem, who offered a smile as they left. There was another nurse, but for the moment, Henry was wrapped up on his phone.
"Okay, Ethiriel, thank you. I'll just be a few more hours. I'll call you before I leave. Enjoy your book. Mhmm, bye--"
With that, Henry sat himself down at the table in the middle of the room and reclined back with a sigh, shoving his phone back into his pocket. He wasn't accustomed to the layout of this hospital, but being in and out of them so much growing up, it was easy for him to pick them up on the go. In his head, he went over how to get back to the nurse's station from here, though he had no intention to right away -- it was time for lunch, and he was hungry.

Dani has never been accused of being shy. More importantly, she's never seen the point in letting an opportunity pass her by, and she credits more of the success she's had in her life to the fact that she is proactive. About work, about socializing, about everything, really, and this is no exception.
Ethiriel is an uncommon name. She knows that, because she'd never heard of it before reading it on the list she'd gotten from the Lab, and it seems like too much of a coincidence for her to write it off. Maybe she's wrong, and maybe this man isn't related to a Raevan in any way -- but maybe she's right, and she'll have the chance to introduce herself to a future friend.
Mind made up, she walks briskly over to where he stands, offering him a friendly, open smile. "Excuse me," she says, thrusting a hand out toward him. "My name is Dani -- I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but did you say Ethiriel?"
She realizes after a moment that it's a somewhat awkward way to begin a conversation, and adds helpfully, "I'm a new guardian. Well, future guardian. Is this making sense, or do I just look crazy?"
Their Welcome to the Lab kit should come with little business cards to pass out to other guardians, she thinks. She makes a mental note to bring it up the next time she speaks to someone from the Lab. It'd make all of this much easier.

Henry was quick to perk up as he was addressed, his smile growing naturally in response. He didn't mind people he didn't know talking to him -- he was an openly friendly guy and enjoyed making new acquaintances whenever possible; especially in work environments, as bonding with those you worked with was important. The nurse nodded at her greeting, and just as he was about to introduce himself, Dani spoke again.
This made his brows raise and smile grow, immediately connecting the dots before the woman could explain further.
"Yeah! I did!" he said excitedly, sitting up from his relaxed position to get a better look at Dani and offer his hand. "It makes perfect sense! It's good to meet another person involved with the Lab! I'm Henry-- Henry Knight! And Ethiriel's my Raevan!"
A new guardian-to-be! This excited Henry in several ways: he was always looking forward to meeting new Raevans and their guardians whenever possible, but how surprising to meet another nurse! Beaming up at Dani, he nodded. "You must be ecstatic! Have you captured a soul, yet? Is there anything you have questions about?" To be honest, he wasn't the first choice when having to explain certain things -- Ethiriel was already a Frei by the time she went into his care, so soul capturing and that jazz was out of his expertise... but anything involving raising them, Henry could answer to the best of his ability.
