Everything hurt more than it should have.

A figure staggered along a dark alleyway somewhere around one in the morning, a trail of spattered blood left behind. Wolfeite's arm was wrapped around his middle, his tail a mottled mess of bloodstained fur, and black ears were pressed flat against his hair.

The group of senshi had been stronger than he'd thought. Wolfeite let out a snarl of anger, but he'd managed to at least take down one of them before the others had gotten there. They hadn't killed him - too pure to do such a thing, he thought, with some sarcasm. But they'd left him, bleeding and bruised, in the alleyway.

He had to get back, either to Labyrinthite's place or to Negaspace, though his energy was slipping, and he felt dizzy. Wolfeite stopped at the end of the way, leaned against the brick wall, and half slumped over, breathing heavily, his sharp teeth clenched ******** class="quote">

Juliet wanted no trouble. She'd never wanted trouble, in this life or the next; her disposition left her inherently more suited for masquerading as a doormat, and she was quite honestly completely fine with that fact. Every week, one night a week (or two, if schoolwork permitted), she would henshin up in snowflakes and moonglow and -- walk.

She was rather good at walking.

And if her mirrorwraith drained energy as she did, well...nobody was getting hurt. If they were, she wouldn't be able to live with herself.

And she should have gone home. She was a teenager -- she had no curfew, she kept safe -- but she had a responsibility to get her five hours of sleep, to wake up in the morning and go to classes like clockwork. Her parents never worried. She was a Good Girl.

But: bloodspatter. Heavy breathing. (And the uptick of something in her mind, not-like but not-enemy either.) Juliet moved into the alleyway, stepping soundlessly with surprising grace, eyes widening at the sight before her. "Excuse me, but...what can I do to help?" Her mind was already made up.

The power signature that came into his senses was not Order, but not quite Chaos either. Wolfeite felt a ripple of anger sweep through him at the idea that someone was seeing him in such a state, and had a split second of wondering whether he should just teleport away.

But he did not have the energy just yet, and this girl - looking at him with wide, concerned eyes - could be of use.

Wolfeite lifted his head, glowing gold eyes meeting hers, his teeth gritted against the pain in his side. A gloved hand was pressing against a large cut that had ripped through his uniform, blood leaking out from between his fingers and staining the black even darker.

"Bandages," he said shortly, roughly. "I need...bandages."

There was a second where Juliet half-froze at the glow to Wolfeite's eyes -- not frightened, but -- surprised. Caught off-guard. But then she was back to a dull surprise, nodding as her eyes flickered to the blood on his uniform. "...I see. I'll be back in a few minutes." There was no need to explain further, at least in her mind: she had money in her pockets, beyond the magic, and they weren't so far in the bowels of the city that she couldn't exactly find a place selling bandages -- and she ducked out of the alleyway.

And she returned perhaps five minutes later, with not a hair out of place, holding a roll of bandages in one hand. "Will this be enough? I don't exactly know first aid." Juliet admitted that with regret, of course, because really she did need to learn, but -- CPR was so proactive. It just wasn't her style.

He wondered whether she would actually come back. The power signature was not the foul, sterile taste of Order, nor the powerful, intoxicating rush of Chaos, but something in between that he did not know. And not knowing made him angry, a ripple of annoyance flickering across Wolfeite's bloodstained face.

When she returned, carting bandages, he gave a derisive snort, but said, "Just clean it and wrap it, it'll be fine."

He had sunk further down the wall in her absence and was now half slumped on the ground, leaving a smear of blood across the bricks in the process. Wolfeite leaned his head back, easing out a ragged breath, and surveyed the young woman with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity.

"What are you?"

Not who, because he didn't care. What, because she was not one of them, in any sense of the word.

"You'll need to take your shirt off," she hummed to some nonexistent tune, brushing a stray hair out of her face. "As I said, I don't know much about first aid. But I'll do the best I can." Juliet took a half-step towards Wolfeite, either not noticing or not much caring for the stray traces of blood her shoes were picking up.

It'd all disappear when she powered down, anyways. There was no need to worry about cleanliness when it didn't actually matter.

"I am Sailor Juliet, of the Dark Mirror Court;" and she curtsied, she actually curtsied, and suddenly the fact the girl couldn't even be five foot nothing was readily apparent. "And you?" Then she kneeled, eyes flickering in the half-light of streetlamps a bit away.

He made another derisive snort, partially like a snort. Wolfeite raised a hand and started to unbutton his jacket, movements jerky and unrefined. Beneath the black and red coat was a black undershirt, which he tugged up to reveal a nasty looking gash just above the left side of his ribs. It was as far as he was going to get in terms of disrobing; Wolfeite was hardly shy, but he didn't care to reveal himself too much when there was little benefit to himself.

She had curtsied. It was...pathetic.

How childish, Wolfeite thought, but he could use this. He could use a mind that was easily bent and broken, molded to a will that was not their own. Perhaps if she did everything as readily as assist a youma, then he could put that to good use.

"Captain Wolfeite," he said, hissing slightly. "of the Negaverse."

The way Juliet looked at the unfamiliar Captain was with dull eyes, going through the motions like she knew she should, but with no real spirit behind her eyes -- she was helping him because that was What Good Girls Did, and per sentiment, well...her sentiment didn't even come into the equation.

Even if it had, it was exactly the same as what she was doing, anyways. Juliet was an exceedingly predictable girl.

With his exposed gash, she moved to wrap him in bandages, slender fingers moving gently as to not irritate the injury even further. "I would say nice to meet you, but it's bad circumstances for that, Captain." No hesitation at the rank. No second thought. It was what he wanted to be called by -- and he'd get it.

He was used to pain, used to being in the middle of fights, violent and harsh. The gash was not anything he had not felt before, but the fingers that pressed against it every so often as Juliet worked made him hiss with a mixture of irritation and discomfort, Wolfeite shifting.

"You should talk to me while you work," he said, keeping his voice as level as possible. "Distract me."

Golden eyes traced over her fuku with curiosity.

"What are the Dark Mirrors? I've never met one before."

Juliet didn't hum -- she hadn't been asked to, and her lack of affinity for music wasn't - and never been - something that years of lessons could remedy. She simply wasn't with the song, in the way some people were. But this didn't call for any of those ill-earned skills: and for that, it was probably the better. No matter if it made the situation more awkward. (Less? Hard to say.)

She kept going, clumsy but steadily progressing, eyes intent on the bandages. Compared to Wolfeite's uniform, her fuku was an endless sea of skin and gauzy fabric, nails perfect even in the grime. "I couldn't tell you much myself. I'm not a very active member of the Court, but I was recruited by Sailor..." She paused, searching for the name - "Sailor Lesath, and I've been mentored prior by Sailor Mintaka. You're the first powered not of my kind I've met."

Juliet frowned, at that, pausing before she regained focus. "...That's not true, actually. But the other two I met before I was recruited. I don't remember very much about them, given that they kidnapped me." She said it the way you might ask about the weather -- utterly unconcerned.

Wolfeite stayed still as he let her work, his eyes still tracing along the lines of her unfamiliar uniform. The Order brats all wore white, and the Negaverse's uniform standards where much more refined than this; besides, the Order fukus were white, not black. So this girl was something else entirely, something new.

Something he could learn about and perhaps use to his advantage.

He did not recognize the names of Lesath or Mintaka, but recruited them to memory, Wolfeite lifting his arm a little to allow for more access to his side. Her casual mention of kidnapping made him wonder if it was the Negaverse or Order that had taken her, but that was a question best saved for later.

"What do the Dark Mirrors do, exactly?" he asked, head resting against the brick wall. "Do they side with the Order or with us?"

"I'm afraid I couldn't tell you," Juliet frowned, fingers intertwining to finish up her wrapping of the Captain's torso. "The cat I interacted with asked me if I was a Negaverse senshi, but that's really the extent of my knowledge...in my head, you don't feel like a wound, so perhaps we're allied? But, as I said...I've never really met someone of Order. Not as I am now." She stood up and stepped back, eyes tracing along the bandages but not really seeing them.

"Do those seem like they'll work? I'm sorry I can't do more."

He bit back the irritated growl that threatened in his throat, schooling his expression into something calm and distant. What use was this senshi if she could not tell him the information that he wanted to know? How could she possibly be so ignorant of her own faction?

It was angering. Wolfeite slid his golden gaze towards her again.

"Do you think you would side with us if given the chance?" he asked, his voice level, and he stretched an arm, testing the bandages. "These seem to work just fine, thank you."

It was hard to tell, at best, if Juliet was intentionally withholding information to leverage her position -- wait, no, it wasn't, because even though she wasn't particularly emotive or anything; it still managed to be very, very clear that she was Doing The Best She Could, Just Say The Word, Do Not Commend Her For Her Service. With a silly little apron, a feather duster, and a cute hat, she would have made a lovely maid.

"I'll side with anyone who desires help," was the reply, and it was irritatingly nonspecific. "I'd much rather be a noncombatant. I don't want to see anyone get hurt if I can help it. If that means I must be a martyr --"

She paused, then, for a second, contemplative; eyes distant.

"Well. So be it. There are a lot of people I would die for, I think, if only to be useful."

Wolfeite thought, She is too naive, and she thinks she can make a difference in the world, how quaint. Only those who believe they can be of help to everyone are the ones that are, in fact, of no help to anyone, regardless of circumstances.

But he said none of this aloud, only watched her with a muted expression of interest that hid the disgust and irritation behind his gaze.

"I would not," said Wolfeite, as he began to get to his feet again, one hand bracing against the bricks of the wall beside him. His breathing was better, less labored than it had been before. "be so eager to die. You seem quite willing to give up your life for a cause you do not fully understand, why is that?"
