Letter from Shogu...
"Dear beloved sister... I have become aware of your recent arrival on the material realm... I wish to see you again. Please leave a note a week before you wish to see me... Maybe we can play hide and seek again... Shogu "
Response Letter...
"Dearest brother... I am relieved to see that you are also here in the material realm. I wish to see you again as well. I have so much I need to tell you.. I will meet you back here at the tree at dusk in one weeks time.. It has been far too long, I almost cannot wait. Ashral"
There's a dark room inside of my head Developing images I'd rather forget You laced your tongue with a poison And it makes me remember Every night I look out my window Afraid you might return for more I miss your frozen love too much And I'd overdose from just a touch So, baby don't come back
Oh, whatever you do Don't come back for me After all I've bled for you I can hardly breathe And one more kiss Could take my life
There's a fire inside of my bed Made of coals that I deeply regret Oh, you left me burning with the embers And I barely made it out alive
Oh, whatever you do Don't come back for me After all I've bled for you I can hardly breathe
Oh, you're back inside my dreams Broken bones and empty screams Sleepless nights in burning sheets Lightning strikes inside my eyes Tell me is this love alive Tell me now or set me free
Oh, whatever you do Don't come back for me After all I've bled for you I can hardly breathe And one more kiss Could take my life

Together [During Careful Analysis]
Ree stared at the last message received and moved to respond only to just hover over the keyboard and finally shook his head turning it off. Looking over at Ashral he stared at her worriedly, wanting to take off right this moment but going by how she had been acting he doubted she would still be here when he returned. Which meant bringing her....but then was Mara and Tri....No...no..Tri wasn't there or wasn't likely to arrive in time. Mara ...oh goodness... The others he heard about? she could maybe keep her control...he only hoped.
"Ashral" he said quietly, not bothering to hide the worry as he stood from the covered balcony oh one building. "Mara never came. Some one I know just texted me asking if I could help..they are under attack"
Ashral had been focused on the dagger that was still stuck fast to the tree as she pulled it out and put her own note against the bark and stabbed the dagger back into the old tree, pinning it there. She stared at the note, thinking on things as Ree messed with his phone. His voice broke the silence, however as she opened her eyes to look at him, noting the concern and worry on his face, matching it with her own. Mara and SIU were under attack and were asking for help. "Are you going to go then?" she asked with a frown.
"...Yes. " he nodded and continued to watch her, trying to get a reading of what she was thinking as he said that. "Tri is likely to far, the other person who text me won't be there until tomorrow. When they did the switched Mara lost most of her allies. She was also injured...critically " this time he allowed a bit of the panic that he was trying to control show before taking a breath. "It could be a trap but considering who texted me... it is doubtful. I plan to just go there help where I can and leave. Do you want to come? It will be more dangerous for you really ..." he warned.
She frowned as he confirmed he was going to leave. It made sense. His family needed help, so why wouldn't he go.. Tri was too far to get there and Mara was in critical condition. It made her think, maybe advise him. He didn't think it was a trap. Then he asked her if she wanted to go and her frown dropped into one of thought. Well, without Tri being there, it was less likely shed lose control of herself unless attack. Even then, the enemy would be attacking so casualties on that side would be fine. Besides, Ree was able to help snap her out of her blood-lust before. She took a shaky breath then nodded. "Yeah. That way we can back each other up. More attack power, and if anything we can both teleport ourselves out. Just as long as we leave before Tri gets there. I'm pretty confident I can handle being around Mara or the others... Just not Tri." she took a more steady breath. "If things get out of hand... You have my permission to use a command on me if you think it will help stop me if I can't... I... I trust you."
Ree looked at her solemnly and nodded, "Thank you" that was something he wasn't sure how to broach. He used the commands on Hexxis and didn't feel guilt but he did thinking about using it on Ash. He still would have if things were dire but having permission made it a little easier even so he would still have to be careful. "I will use is carefully " he said trying to at least alleviate her fear there as well. "Let's ...wait" he looked at the pack and dropped it, opening it until he took out two of the COMMs. Turning it on her handed it to Ashral. "Put this around your ear and I will be able to hear you when we are over there and visa versa. At least it make synchronizing attacks a little easier " he muttered closing the pack up again and placing his over his own ear. "Also if you are overwhelmed ...teleport out. " he placed the pack on again, it will take them a bit to fly back to Belrad and he wanted to start now. "Wait...um..how far can you teleport? And how often" he looked faintly surprised.
Ashral smiled as he seemed to agree and assured her that he would be careful about the commands. She stopped as he told her to wait, watching him curiously as he pulled out a device and instructed her how to use it. She had watched Hexxis do this and watching Ree do it now, she was able to understand as she put the comm on. Nodding she shifted her hair over it. "I see. That will be helpful." He gave her further instruction on what to do if she got overwhelmed and nodded in understanding. Then paused as he asked her about her teleport. "Oh, uhh... I can teleport up to 5 miles.. 7 times a day." she answered then thought for a moment. "I can teleport someone else I'm touching with me without much more expense of energy. Any more than that does cause strain..." she explained and smiles faintly at him then looked off ahead of them for a moment.
Ree blinked at her, that was a lot farther than Mara or Tri were able to go but also right within range of where they needed to be. "Can you teleport us to Belrad? .....hopefully -not- into the mercenary head quarters" smiles faintly back but he was worried.
Ashral nodded and looked around for a moment before stepping closer to Ree and slipping her hand into his, looking away as she blushed a bit then took a breath, closing her eyes and letting them fall into the shadows below them. Trying to remember which way Belrad would be, she vaguely remembered it was south of where Khares was as per what the map had said. Still unsure, she stopped the teleport just at the edge of town, pulling him out with her from the shade of a building as she smiled and looked back at him. "This should be it.." she commented, a sense of accomplishment in her voice as she laughed a bit. "And not in the mercenary head quarters either..." She took a moment before remembering the seriousness of the situation and squeezing his hand just a bit. "We can do this.... Right?" she spoke reassuringly as she gave him a smile to say that she was there to help and not be a hindrance. They were the backup, and she wanted to prove that she could be good, and maybe even try to prove that it might be possible to become a mane. Even if it was impossible, she still wanted to try. Ashral blinked, looking away, a flush of color to her face before letting go of his hand. "...uhm.. sorry.... let's go."
Ree looked at her curiously but did not comment. Acting as he would with a friend and not trying to give her other ideas. Hopefully she will understand between him saying it now and then and just not reacting.
As they reappeared he held on tightly to her hand, eyes wide as his wings pulled in close. That was also different than what Mara and Tri did.. more of a searching while in transit than searching before it. It reminded him when they both tried to show him how to jump that way and he kept flaring out light in panic. "G-good.. " he looked around trying to see where they were as he ruffled his wings, only to let out a soft chuckle a moment later as she mentioned the mercenary headquarters, hey it was a possibility. He loosen his grip as she asked if they could do this "Yes, we just have to be carefully. we'll sneak inside not go guns blazing and see what we an do ..." he smirked faintly at the thought then shook his head at her apology. " Lets go" This time he lead the way, finding a little different during day time hour but skirting around the edge of ton heading toward the new SIU base, they weren't to far.
Ashral kept her eyes averted for now as she calmed her thoughts of the moment, focusing on his words. "Sneak in... Okay.. I can do that..." she responded softly then nodded. She followed him, as they made their way towards the new SIU building. "....maybe they won't know who I am... pretend like I'm someone else.." she muttered mostly to herself then chuckled. "I doubt that would work, but an amusing thought anyway..." she added as they walked, keeping an eye out for others.
"Well... I was kind of hoping they won't know. I don't think they know what you look like.... except they know you're with me. Maybe.. maybe not. " he frowned as they moved closer. It seemed quiet from where they were but as they stepped into range he could already hear one of the armor units powered up. Likely Mara or someone who supports her. What Kage was doing back here looking for Hexxis he could not fathom. "Pick a name. " he muttered straightening as he focused only on the sound, Shrouding one of the cameras he could see as they moved closer. "once inside...Kage is the one who is supposedly attacking. he is a Shadow meta. Key and lock are his item. He can lock and unlock things....and make you fo-.... lock away memories. Pale...shadow tattoos, red eyes black hair " he muttered turning on his Comm as he started to focus.
She blinked, looking at him with curiosity. "You think they wouldn't?... Hmm.. maybe you're right." she commented, putting a finger to her lips in thought. She thought about what name to pick at his request for her to do so. "....Farrow.." she answered and smiled at him. As they got closer, she could feel shadows moving but couldn't exactly figure out what was happening within the building. She listened to him give her the details of what she needed to know as she focused on the building itself. "Ahh... a shadow. At least I have a better idea of what he could do... Key and locks... so manual dealings or something.... just don't rely on locks.. Okay." She gave a slight smirk as he mentioned memories, never breaking eye contact from the building. "Not like I can remember a whole lot anyway... so just don't let him get inside my head... got it.." she spoke softly as she listened to the description and then nodded. Reaching up to the comm on her ear, she activated it and looked to Ree and gave a single nod. "What's the plan..."
He would have normally expanded on what he said but he was already looking around as they moved quickly. "Farrow.." there was a pause then he nodded. "Plan... with not knowing who is enemy or ally. " there was a pause as he just decided to trust Kae on this.
"I think...I have some immunity to him. stay further back so they don't see you when I move into view. I sense an armor unit up ahead, should be one of Mara's new teammates. If we meet Kage...I'll distract him if he isn't distracted already " haha distract, that seems to have failed all the times they have done so against meta. "He hurt Mara and attacked here... make your own judgement..but..." there was a swell of guilt as he remember the last time he saw Kage, the surprise accusing tone when they realized Hexxis died. The voice in his dreams had slowly faded away but now it came back to the forefront with a vengeance. Part of the reason he even asked Anadii to erase the warrant on Kage was to assuage his own guilt somewhat. Yet Kage was here for Hexxis why?. "Never mind. Just use your own judgment " trusting her to keep an eye on them and wait until an opportunity presented itself.
Not knowing the enemy or ally was definitely a problem, though it seemed pretty straight forward what was happening had it not been a trap. Ree appeared to trust it, so she did as well. She thought over what he said, a distraction , she shook her head. "Better idea, instead of one of us taking the brunt of it, we keep moving, cover each other where needed. You may have some immunity to him, but you're not attuned to combat. That's all I knew after I left Shogu... So please don't make me run while leaving you behind. I'm not okay with that. Work together or not at all. I don't want to let you just be prey to him while I escape like a coward, nor do I want to risk my life for such a situation." she sighed, "If we are a team, we act like a team... that's the only way this is going to work. We... have to actually trust each other... not just to back each other up... but to make the right decisions..." She moved closer to one of the walls of the building and placed her hand against the wall ready to phase once they were done discussing what needed to happen.
"..." he paused and looked at her as they stopped in front of the wall before they phased. She actually left him at a loss for words as he tried to find a good answer for that. It made him feel like a novice again...he was in a way. With Tri it was more following him and supporting him as he moved. What was the difference with what she asked? As a team... to together, handle it together. He didn't know if it was the right decision and that scared him, yet that was life wasn't it? "So we both go ahead together and try to deal?" he asked seriously, watching her as he rested his own hand on the wall as well, allowing her to explain if he didn't get her meaning right even as he wanted to just rush in he held it back and waited.
She looked at him with a slightly serious look, trying to think of how to explain in a way that would make sense to him. "It's less unpredictable than that. We move as a team, it's mostly multi-tasking. You know your limits, never go past them. Keep an eye on your partner, if they get overwhelmed, you take some of the heat, not all of it. You focus on keeping a calm state of mind. Don't let an unexpected occurrence cloud your thoughts into making irrational decisions. It's give and take. No need to sacrifice if two are working together towards the same goal." she instructed, "Know what your partner can handle, if not intuitively, verbally or by signal. And don't take on more than you can handle on purpose. That's likely to get someone killed, so know when to back off, regroup, and look for another opportunity to strike even harder." she smiled at him reassuringly. "I have confidence that we can handle this... as a team."
"I see... it is a little what I did with Tri " he nodded as bit, it was very similar to what he did with Tri but it had been years working together. Knowing how to work together and what one could do...with Ash this would be the first time for that, which was why it was easier to have her hide out of sight. It was one less thing to think about when thinking of what was up ahead. One thing he forgot was that she excelled in battle while he rarely had to get up close , always attacking from a distance. "So we complement each other. Tri and I worked in tandem. He usually got up close while I dealt with what was in the distance or warn him of changes "
There was a slight twinge in her eyes at the mention of Tri and she looked away, took a deep breath then returned her gaze to Ree. "Yes, it's like what you would do with Tri. I can get up close and you can damage from a distance and we warn each other of changes or if we need to reposition for a better offense or defense as the fight calls for it." She summoned her sword to her hand at her side as she looked Ree in the eyes intently. "Are you ready? We can just move silently and assess the situation first before acting. Get an advantage before trying to attack if that's what's needed."
Ree nod once as the glow in his eyes dimmed as he shifted to a more calm and focus state of mind. "That I can do. Let go. " blind..he had no idea of the new building nor did Mara mention it. They were both on the same level at least.
I've walked these blocks, trying to calm down, just trying to get through another day.
The days count down and the day I see Shogu draws closer and Ree still hasn't come back. If he isn't back by the time I talk to Shogu, I'm going to go find him. Maybe Shogu will help me.
In the mean time, I took the note that Shogu wrote me, and I wrote a message to Ree. Sometimes I'm really scared to say what's in my heart, and so I thought maybe if I wrote it down, I could always remember it even if I go crazy. --
Beloved Ree,
I become fearful that you may not return, but I guess you have if you read this. I wanted to apologize for hurting your father. I still don't know what it is that makes me attack him, but I'm trying to be better. I want to prove to him that he is not my enemy.. one day. Whatever it is that makes me crazy, I will fix it so that I can be the person you don't have to hide from your family. Maybe then, they can accept me. Who I really am. Not as Ashral. She was only a Malice. But as Farrow, the girl that just wants to be with you always, even if you don't feel that way in the end. I'm okay with that.
Love, Farrow
-- I folded up the paper and put it in my stocking... I have a bad habit of doing that I suppose.
Only a couple more days.
Then I will come for you.
Just stay safe....please.

The Choices I Have Made [Memory]
There were explosions in distance, loud enough to make one's ears ring in pity for those poor souls just beyond the horizon. There were fires from every side, and the air was thick with the scent of lead and blood. Yelling, she could hear yelling, echoed through the sea of golds and reds. She stood there, staring off into the night sky like she'd never seen the sky before, a bladed sword in her left hand. She hummed as she blinked, flinching at the first droplet of rain that guided the slow downpour of soft droplets of water as though Gaia herself was weeping.
"Take me to her! Where is she?!" there was men screaming just a ways afar. She slowly lowered her head to look over to a group of four men that were fast approaching. Three of them in camouflaged garb and rifles, the fourth, a man in a suit. Getting much closer, she narrowed her eyes and tilted the blade to glean, ready to attack. The three men immediately raised their guns to fire. "Watch out!" they warned to the man in the suit. Deepening her stance, she was prepared to advance, attack without any word, darkness swirling around her.
"Stand down!" the man in the suit commanded his men and raised his hands in surrender to her. She paused, staring, then lowered her sword slightly, but not fully.
The man in the suit stood at a distance, a small cordial smile on his face. "So you're the girl causing so many problems for my men.."
She was silent, unmoving, simply listening.
"I sent 250 soldiers to fight 100 non-humans. Come to find out you have killed them all, from both sides."
She nodded calmly, her stoic face still fixated on his.
"Tell me, what's your name?"
She shifted her eyes away, narrowing her eyes. "Ashral." she finally answered softly.
The man's smile widened. "Well,.. Ashral. Would you like to come work for me in a place called Eden Research? We could use your.. expertise." he offered, motioning to her sword.
She looked down to her sword then back to him, quietly contemplating for a few moments before placing her right hand over her heart and bowing her head slightly.
"No allies. Isolation. Training. The movies are.. odd."
"You're getting off topic."
"Not allowed."
"Goals after the drop?"
"Kill. No survivors. Extraction in predetermined time and location only."
"Good."
---------
Ashral entered the cafeteria, her training had run unusually late and now any of those from her division were no longer present and likely back in training or ushered back to their rooms. At this time, the human soldiers were eating, which never appeared to bother her, a blank and stoic look on her face as she retrieved her meal and moved to sit at the lone table designated for what they called the "eliminators". Those non-humans that were called in to be dropped into the middle of battle sites to kill anything they set eyes on.
She sat alone at the table, eating quietly as she overheard humans talking about her, the rumors of her. She was known as Eliminator: Silence, having been given that code name for the reason that she hardly ever spoke.
It wasn't long before a pair of human males approached her, likely out of a dare to try to get her to talk.
"Hey, Silence, how are you today?" one of them asked, a cockier blonde guy who couldn't even get her to look up from her meal. The other male, a gentleman with rusty brown hair and blue eyes, was just staring at her with a smile.
"You want to go to the library after this with us?" the blonde man asked.
Ashral shook her head and continued to eat.
"Come on."
She shook her head again.
"Do you ever talk?"
She paused, shook her head once more and then continued to eat.
The blonde guy scoffed and looked to his friend. "This was a waste of time, I told you she really was mute." he began to walk off.
Ashral was quietly eating, looking down at her food with an emotionless face. It was a while before his friend even realized the brown-haired man hadn't left the table. "Come on, she isn't worth it. Whatever, I'm leaving before the commanders find out about this."
The brown-haired guy smiled a little more. "Your eyes are very pretty."
Ashral paused, blinking, but still looking down at the tray in front of her. "..thank you." she spoke softly before taking in another spoonful of food.
His smile only widened. "I knew it.. you have a beautiful voice too."
She hesitated, looking up to him, only the slightest glimmer of confusion before looking away. "You should leave."
He chuckled, "Right, right. Well, I'll see you around, Silence.", then got up and left the cafeteria.
She gave a single nod, collected her things, and left as well as she went back to her room without any intentions of leaving it for the rest of the night.

On the Horizon [Memory]
"Drop in two minutes. Extraction, one hour at the north rock formation on the hill." the demon spoke, holding Ashral in his arms as he flew at the edge of the battlefield towards the center. She nodded, "Affirmative."
He looked worried, never actually seen her in action, wondering if such a small girl could really do as much damage as every said she did. As he made it to the center, he took a breath. "Ready?"
She nodded calmly and the demon let her go to drop from the sky as she summoned her sword to her hand before hitting the ground and quickly make quick work of killing everyone within her range, moving outward until the entire field was filled with panicked screams and then silence. No person was spared from her wrath, enemies and allies alike, it didn't matter.
She slowly moved to the hill formation as instructed, coming to sit on one of the rocks. She took in a deep breath of earthy air, rich with soil and blood as she slowly looked up at the full moon. It was cold, and she wore very little, a black leotard and leggings that were given to her from the facility.
There was an illumination that hid just behind the horizon that caught her eyes. Watching that point, the sun began to slowly rise, peaking over the hills in the distance as her eyes were captivated by it's wonder. She stared until it began to hurt and was forced to look away, looking down at her blood-soaked clothes. This had been the first time she'd been out on a site when the daylight came, usually being sent off during the night and returning before dawn.
"Hey there, Silence, time to go." the demon spoke, as Ashral spun, brandishing her sword in reflex and panic before realizing who it was. The fear in his eyes as she almost attacked him. A frown formed over her lips and she desummoned her sword, stepping closer to him, waiting her him to pick her up and fly her away from this place.
After a bit of hesitation, he picked her up as usual and took flight. Ashral's eyes widened, looking out over the city nearby highlighted by the dawn rays. She could see so far like this, and it made her want to reach out and touch it like some kind of toy. She wanted to see more, what else could the sun touch that she'd never seen? Her curiosity peaked, she continued to keep focus on the city before it faded out of sight.
A loud thud rang out in the hallway as Ashral was slammed against the wall hard by an older male. "You think you eliminators are better than us? I heard you guys kill everyone out there, even us! What the hell is up with that?!" he yelled, two other males backing him up and to corner her into the situation.
She remained quiet, looking away, not fighting back.
"Say something! Or I'll make you pay for killing all of them!"
Still no words would come. Remaining expressionless, stoic and above all else, silent.
"You asked for this, Silence!" he drew back his fist to hit her when another voice rang out from down the hallway. "Yeah, they're right here, Commander!" they announced before running down the hallway towards them.
The sudden panic in their eyes as the supposed leader of the trio cursed, throwing Ashral down to the ground and taking off running followed by his posse. There was a slight noise of pain as she hit the ground before she looked up at who was coming, the brown-haired male she had met some time ago.
"Hey, Silence, you okay?" he asked with concern, kneeling down to her, making sure she wasn't injured.
"Commander?"
He shook his head, "I made it up so they'd run. I guess it worked." he gave a nervous laugh.
She appeared confused and surprised, trying to figure out what just happened. "Thank you."
"No need. Couldn't let you just take the brunt of all that. Why didn't you fight back?"
"Not allowed."
"Not even in defense?"
"Defense?"
He frowned, pausing before suddenly pulling her into a hug. "Silence, don't tell me you were just going to let them hurt you without even fighting back..."
"Ashral."
"What?"
"My name is Ashral."
He paused, nodding and hugged her a little tighter.
"Let me go."
He apologized suddenly and let her go. "Sorry, I... I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. My name is Brandis, by the way."
She nodded. "Thank you, Brandis." she paused, trying to get up now, "I must go."
"Wait."
She paused, staring at him, seeing the sad look in his eyes as he locked gazes with her. She frowned and turned. "I'm sorry." she muttered and quickly turned to run away. She didn't understand why, but she felt overwhelmed and maybe a little flustered. This was new, and she didn't like it.
"No allies."
"It's.. not allowed."

Just a Test [Memory]
It was like sludge, thick and black and everywhere. She was staring off, the walls were dripping and she was staring at the chalkboard in the empty room.
"Do you understand?"
She nodded slowly, closing her eyes and inhaling deeply. She opened her eyes and reached out into darkness, narrowing her eyes in concentration before the memory of a glimmer of blue eyes flickered to the right of her. She turned to look. A noise to her left, and the floor sunk quickly as she lost footing before she could ground her mind to anything.
"You're distracted."
A searing pain as she curled, a whimper before she could inhale again. Her breath quickened, heaving slightly as she tried to stand, concentrate again. Reaching out for the chalkboard again, the floor was like quicksand. Straining, she began to crawl.
"Concentrate again."
She let out a noise of pain as something was hurting her, she couldn't see it, coursing through veins with every beat of her blood which only became more rapid. She was trying again to ground but she was falling, plummeting down a skyscraper in a city she didn't know. Why was this happening? She had better control than this. The wind whipped through her hair as she closed one eye from strain before she spotted something flying upward. A faceless person, but the brown hair was distinct. Her eyes widened as she turned and was suddenly running toward him, although the distance never shortened.
"Are you even trying?"
She whimpered as another wave of pain caused her to trip, stumbling as she reached out again and the world spun and she fell. No, she could get this right. Leaning back in the chair, she took in a deep breath. Reaching out for the chalkboard, she concentrated on it, walking closer, almost touching it. This could work. The tick of the clock was growing louder, it was giving her a sense of anxiety, to finish faster. Why? At this rate, she'd be late to eating again. Maybe that's what she wanted.
She was laying in a bed, staring up at stars, tears in her eyes. Why? Why couldn't she focus?
"You making a mockery of this. Maybe punishment is in order."
Ashral's eyes widened, "Wait!" she called out, though she doubt she was heard, sitting up from the bed to see the sheets covered in blood. No, not this. Raising her hands, they were covered in blood. She hated remembering. She wanted it to stop. Gripping her head, she screamed. "Stop! Please stop!!" There were tears in her eyes, overwhelming her face. There was a voice, no a gurgle of something almost human. Eyes opening slowly, she was holding the dead body of a someone.. brown hair, dead blue eyes.
Ashral screamed, thrashing in the chair as her movements threw the headset on her head off, crashing to the ground. "NO! STOP!" she cried out, opening her eyes this time to see the restraints, the IV in her arm, the drugs they were using. A fear in her mind as shadows collected threw items everywhere and she continued to scream in panic. It wasn't long before doctors rushed in, injecting something into the IV quickly, the other doctors attempting to hold her down.
"She's hitting eliminator mode, sedate her now!!" one doctor yelled, and another injected something else into the IV.
Her vision quickly became blurry as her struggled died down, and her eyes felt heavy just before she closed them and fell asleep.
Walking through the streets, illuminated by flames as she entered the center of town. This battle was fought within a city, the first one she had experienced, and by now, she'd begun to enjoy it. They groomed her for it. The blade wanted it. She wanted it. She hummed, dragging her foot into a spin along the stone ground, a small smile on her lips. She looked up as the rain began to pour down, her grin only widening as she twirled and arched back, running a hand along her neck and down. She began to laugh, enjoying this time. The silence. Her silence.
"..ashral.."
She leaned forward to orient herself, turning to look over. What was that name again? Who? She wasn't sure. Staring at a young man, a flicker of a memory as he walked toward her, injured, bleeding from his arm and head. She didn't react, just watching him as he approached and then hugged her.
"...you have to get out of here..."
Silence. It was what she was best at. "Why are you here?"
"They are sending reinforcements, they'll be here any moment. There will be too many for you to take them on by yourself. You have to get out of here." he insisted.
She shook her head, taking a step back. "Not allowed."
He grabbed her shoulders, "Ashral, don't be stupid! It doesn't matter what they told you. They will kill you!"
She shook her head. "I cannot leave. It is not time for extraction."
"Then I'm extracting you now."
"On what grounds."
"Because I care about you."
"I don't understand."
"I love you."
She paused, staring at him before frowning. She thought for a few moments before moving her hand up to grab her arm, taking a deep breath before looking up to him. "I don't..feel that way about you. I want to be your friend." she thought a bit more. "I never considered you to be more than that. I'm sorry." she spoke, also knowing she was never allowed to have any allies in all that she did.
"But Ashral, I-..." There was a loud bang that rang out over the damp air. Her eyes widening as he slumped forward and she grabbed him, laying him down. Panic set in quickly as she look out to the horizon, reinforcements closing in quickly as she looked back to Brandis, tears already filling her eyes. "Wait, I... please don't die.."
He smiled weakly at her, trying to speak, but nothing would surface. Mouthing the words, I'm sorry before his eyes fell blank and his body limp.
She curled onto him, hugging him tightly, something boiling within her as she let out an angry frustrated scream in agony.
She stood up quickly, brandishing her sword before taking off toward the enemy lines without another thought on her own safety, slicing through flesh and bone alike, cutting down every enemy she could, despite feeling overwhelmed. She refused to give up, still not forgiving herself for not listening to Brandis. The only thing she had left was the sword from her brother, the one she never confessed to.
Her mind would not cease to reason as she killed, exceeding extraction attempts, continuing to move, slicing down anything in her path, refusing to return until she felt satisfied.
It wasn't until exhaustion took over that she fell to one knee, sword stuck into the ground to stabilize her. The dawn was breaking as she tried to stand but couldn't, looking up into the sun, she saw a man before her, black hair and a sword. She knew this would be her end, but still she refused to stop fighting, never giving up until her last breath.

Control [Memory]
Her training was always running late, they were beginning to notice, although they didn't know why. She began to fail the tests more often, losing concentration, being distracted, losing control. It was gradually increasing and the researchers were growing concerned.
She sat quietly in the cafeteria, eating, her eyes darting up to look around so often, hoping to possibly see the brown-haired boy once more. He was nice to her and that was rare. She was watching the door and hadn't noticed the blonde man walking up to her, backed up by more guys of course. He had a stupid grin on his face, laughing by the time she noticed he was already at the table. She looked up at him with an expressionless face.
"Hey, Silence, I've been hearing that you've been seen talking to Bradis. So you do have a voice after all.." he spoke, chuckling and looking back at his friends, propping his foot up into a chair and leaning his arm over it to lean forward. "So let's hear it. Say something."
She was quiet, looking back down at her food and beginning to eat once more, ignoring him.
He scoffed in annoyance. "Hey, you should give me your roll. Because you're nice and all." he smirked, "..don't say anything if I can just have it." She ignored him, barely paying attention to him by this point until he simply grabbed the bread roll from her plate. "Thanks, Silence. You're the best." he laughed mockingly, his friends joining in the laughter.
She looked up at him with a slight frown, not sure what to do or say. He was making a fool out of her and she wasn't allowed to fight or even talk to the soldiers there. After a moment, she looked down to the slice of pie she had, picking it up and offering it to him with a smile.
He looked confused then laughed again, "Aww, look, she's being so generous with her food, maybe she's not entirely horrible after all." he glanced back at his friends that were ooing and awing at the situation. However, the moment he turned to look back at Ashral, she shoved the pie into his face, a cordial little smile on her face.
He was pissed, "You cocky little b***h!" he yelled, drawing back to punch her straight in the face, knocking her back and onto the floor hard. She hadn't expected him to attack her, his friends immediately grabbing him to hold him back. "Giddian! Stop! What are you doing?! You can't hit a girl.. and an eliminator at that!!" they shouted in panicked voices. "That b***h is going to pay!!" he yelled, ready to hit her again if they hadn't all been holding back.
Ashral pushed herself up to sit on the floor, a hand to her face as it stung hard, throbbing and painful. Although.. she felt something sticky now, pulling her hand away, it was covered in blood. Her eyes widened, flashes of memories racing through her mind. Fire. Rain. Screaming. The night sky. Blood. The smell of blood. The sight of blood. Drop confirmed.
She began to hum, a devilish grin widening over her face as she slowly came to a stand, head down as she began to laugh.
"What the hell is so funny?!" Giddian yelled in fury.
She looked at him with intense eyes, her smile growing in insane bloodlust. Ashral jumped up onto the table, slamming her foot down on the edge of the tray to kick it up into the air. She snatched it and drew back to swing, slamming him in the head with the think plastic tray. A look snap as the tray hit flesh, knocking him to the ground. It was then, everyone in the cafeteria began to panic, running, screaming, and trying to get away. This was normal, soldiers and civilians alike always running from her as she methodically hunted every single one down. This would be no different. She looked down to Giddian, jumping down next to him and throwing the tray down, moving to take a fork, humming as she dragged it along the surface of the table. Ashral leaned down and grabbed Giddian by the hair and pulled him up to a sit before leaning his head back. He was crying by now as she grinned, holding her gaze with his terrified eyes. "Stay away." she spoke softly before reeling back the fork overhead, intent to slam it down into his eye before she felt a sharp pain in her arm and back. Looking over, she saw the dart in her flesh, a sharp inhale before exhaling slowly and passing out where she stood.
"Her missions for the rest of the week have been cancelled. She's being placed on temporary leave to recover and reground. We are hoping this will solve the problem while we are looking into solutions for the failed trigger."
"Good."
------------------
"You are advised to stay out of the cafeteria during peak hours. Stay away from heavily populated areas and you are not to speak or be alone with the human soldiers. Other than that, you are relieved of your duties this week and are free to do as you please. And although you will not have training this week, you do need to come in every day for a check up of your mental health. Is this understood?"
"Affirmative."
-------------------
Ashral wasn't used to being given free reign of her time at the facility as she tried to find things to do to pass the time. Walking by the cafeteria, she was starving, but there were still a lot of soldiers eating for the late dinner rush. She decided she would have to wait it out, choosing to go to the library for now. She wanted to read up on a few things, mostly about weaponry from different areas of Tretera. As she perused through the aisles, reading some books and putting them back, there was a small whisper from the end of the row of books, "psst. ashral."
Blinking, she turned to look at Brandis, staring at him with a blank expression. "There you are, I've been looking all over for you. I heard what happened yesterday. Are you okay?"
She nodded quietly, turning to face him but still saying nothing.
"That's good. Hey, I want to show you something." he offered with a smile, and without even giving her any time to answer, he grabbed her hand and began to speed walk out of the library. Ashral was confused and a little scared at what could happen from this. Interacting with the soldiers was forbidden as she worried someone would see them, but he made sure to take routes in the facility that weren't monitored and void of people. Turning down a hallway, he broke out into a slight run as she kept pace, quiet and curious.
As they turned and reached a door that led to the stairwell, there were two soldiers standing on either side, they smiled and nodded at Brandis and he smiled back. "This way." he instructed, opening the door and climbing the stairs to the roof.
Once they reached the roof, he stopped at the door. "Okay, close your eyes."
She was reluctant but somehow she trusted him. Closing her eyes, he took her hands, opened the door, and led her out onto the roof. The cool breeze playing through her hair as it smelled like earth and grass.
"Okay... open them."
She took a breath and opened her eyes, taking in the sight of hundreds of fireflies in the air, dancing and flittering about. Her eyes widened in amazement, almost unable to comprehend what she was seeing. The lights blinked in and out slowly, captivating her attention, forgetting that she was even hungry. This is all she thought about now. How beautiful this was.
Brandis smiled wide. "You like it?"
Without looking away from the sight of green and yellow fleeting lights, she nodded slowly before starting to smile, if only faintly.
"I knew you would."
"....thank you..."
He chuckled softly, "No need." he paused then looked like he remembered something. "Oh, I snagged you something from the cafeteria. It's a raspberry cheesecake." he dug out the plastic container and handed it to her with a plastic fork.
She looked down at it curiously then to him and nodded, taking the cake from him. She sat down, shortly followed by Brandis sitting down next to her as she began to eat the cheesecake. She stared upward, watching the scenery quietly.
He quietly watched with her, before she began to speak again. "Why are you so nice to me?"
He laughed a little. "Because you deserve to be happy."
She looked at him curiously, with a hint of confusion, as though she didn't understand.
"One of these days, the war will be over. You'll be able to be a normal girl. You won't have to follow orders. You won't have to kill. You can just be.. you."
She paused, frowning, then shook her head.
He frowned, "Ashral, I-.."
"Hey, the commander's looking for you. Looks like time's up. We did all we could." a soldier called out from the door.
Brandis sighed, "Looks like I have to go. But we'll talk again some time. Just stay safe.." he spoke, then stood and walked off to door to leave the roof.
Ashral laid back onto the ground, looking up at the fireflies and stars with a thoughtful look. "..okay."
