Coming on into Darlene's with his helmet under arm, Shun twitched slightly as he caught sight of the two old codgers in their usual places. Did those two never go home or something? Every time he's been here, regardless of the time of day, he always sees them. Perhaps he shouldn't question it. Maybe it was the only normal thing around here... Unless there was something magical about -- Nope. Not going to think about that. Shaking his head to himself, he wandered over to his usual table, snatching a lunch menu on the way.

One of the usual rotation of wait staff would pour a nice tall glass of cold water for Shun when he sat. "Summer's coming," she'd smile because the weather was unseasonably warm, in the 80's right now, and that meant tourists, beach-goers and more kids trying to ditch class as the end of the school year came for them. She'd leave him with the menu after her pleasant attempts at small talk and a quick, "Can I get you something to drink?" Borr was behind the bar, like most days, would give Shun a minute to at least commit to eating before he came to bother him.

"That it is," Shun grunted as he began to look over the menu. Sort of. He was mostly looking at the pictures. But he had a decent idea of what was on the menu now, having been here a few times. Still, he wasn't entirely certain what he wanted just yet. "Just water is fine."

The waitress did come back in a few minutes to take his order and only once that she'd gone did Borr find his way over. The large man was in his usual black t-shirt with a faded Harley Davidson logo tucked in and belted, though that was invisible under his large stomach. It seemed he wasn't keen on sleeves as the bearded man never seemed to have any, even at work. His smile was as genuine as ever, "Mr. Kuroda, good to see you again." A bar towel was cast over his shoulder and Borr held out a hand for a hearty shake as always. "Heard you got your dinner."

Shun went ahead and ordered something simple and light. He had just leaned back in his chair, ready to wait, when the owner of the establishment came on by his table. "That I did. And I have to admit, that was pretty damn good."He looked on up at the large man. Unlike him, he had sleeves, though the bandages on his left arm peeked out from beneath as he rested his arm on the back of the chair.

"Great!" He'd really only been wanting to prove he wasn't just reaching some level of 'okay' bar food with this place. Not when he knew that Dhan and Nasir could cook their asses off. "And how've you been? How's our city treating you?" Borr didn't sit, not while someone was paying and hadn't invited him. He was just checking in.

With that question, Shun just kind of gave the big man a flat look. "I have learned that this town has a lot more to it than it seems on the outside. And quite frankly... it is insane."

Borr's bushy brows rose a moment, his mouth forming a small o before they flattened and he sat down opposite the younger man. "Ah-" A hand smoothed over the beard, "It's got it's quirks but it's not a bad place... Lately has been very out of the ordinary." What with bodies, people disappearing, and crazed slashers at the college. "My wife Darlene always believed no matter how odd, an Ashdowner is family."

Shun tilted his head at that. Not just at what Borr said about the town itself, but the mention of his wife. So this establishment was named after her. ...Or maybe he considered the place to be his wife. Honestly that wouldn't be much stranger than the things he's been running into as of late. "You mean Ashdown has not always been like this?"

"Always unique, if that's what your asking." Borr's voice did drop a bit, "People see things.. And we've got a local witch." He smiled a bit. Sunny was a bit more than a local witch but the story served well enough. "As long as my wife was alive. She was born and raised here." His brows rose in interest, "Something strange happen to you?"

"Yes... I gathered that much," Shun mumbled while lightly rubbing his head. He recalled all the rumors from when he was getting a feel about Ashdown before he had moved. There was a small bit of hesitation before he answered Borr's question. "You could say that."

"Work related? Or personal?" The older man was interested, leaning in slightly since he was talking low. He'd told Shun when he first met him that people in the bar had a tendency to talk. Aleksy just needed the right mood and the right vodka and Jeremiah had his cat that pretty much spoke for itself. There was still a barstool with strange bits of wilted vine that were just beginning to fall off of where they'd spontaneously grown.

Shun furrowed his brow a bit as Borr leaned in with interest. "A little bit of both," he said after a time, "I do not really want to go into too much detail, though. But things have been... different. You could say."That was a bit of a light statement. His conceptions of reality had practically shattered.

"I won't press if you don't want to talk about it.." Borr did want to press though. He was very curious and rarely did anyone talk about the magic around them. He wasn't totally clueless, he knew more than he usually said, but Borr remained blissfully normal himself. "Have you met Sunny?"

Shun nodded lightly at the question. "I have. She is... strange. To put it lightly," he commented. When he first met her, he thought nothing more of her other than she was probably some psychic hack. While he hasn't seen the woman again since the day the foot popped onto the beach, he has since become more aware that there is more to her than he originally thought. "Our meeting had been rather brief. Work... sprang up while I was speaking with her."
