Alg wasn't happy that Jeremiah was held longer. He knew, common sense told him, that his spouse had to make statements and answer to people. More so than his own brief medical check, questioning and dismissal. It didn't make him feel any better. He was a fickle, jealous man and tonight had been difficult, trying... and dare we say traumatizing? He just wanted him here. Alg limped in the front door, tossed his keys in the bowl and groaned as he shifted wrong and the quickly tended claw marks in his shoulder pulled. The cats were on him immediately and the professor worked on an exhausted automatic going about making sure they had water and food before he realied they'd been fed earlier in the evening. The night felt like an eternity and not at all like just a few very stressful hours. The stairs were a bit of work but he needed out of the clothes and he needed hot water and by the time Algie emerged from the bathroom, clean and re-bandaged, Jeremiah was still not home. Whenever the detective did arrive he'd find Alg asleep on the sofa in an old ASHDOWN PD t-shirt and pajama pants, his leg stretched out and encased in frozen peas, two white cats curled around each other on his stomach, and re-runs of Black Books playing at a low volume on the TV.

By the time Jeremiah made it to the house, those peas that had been on Algie's knee were cool and no longer ice. He was resolutely not looking at the time as he opened the door. His posture almost immediately slumped, the detective lieutenant giving into the pain and limping his way to toeing off his shoes. He did not even bother to head up to the bedroom, knowing that Algie was likely- Shaking his head at his lover, he limped his way to the couch. The remote was picked up and the television turned off, each cat given an affectionate scratch, before he was leaning to brush silvering hair from Alg's face. "Precious," he said tiredly, "I'm home."

"Hmm?" He stirred slightly but it was a good extended moment before Alg seemed to actually absorb the news. He moved, forgetting about the knee and the shoulder until he felt the low throbbing pain again and the man winced and cracked open his eyes. His glasses weren't even on and his hair had dried while he slept, flat on his head but stuck up in the back from the pillow. "Jr'miah.." Groggy talk. He was tired okay. Everything sucked right now.

Even better. Jeremiah smiled at the groggy voice. Fingers ran from along his forehead and then against his cheek before he was leaning to kiss him. His lips were a little cold, though it was nowhere near the level he had been after the mansion. Most of the anxiety faded away at that point even if he he pretty much hurt all over. "M'gonna put on a kettle on and bring that upstairs with us," he murmured against Alg's lips. Which did involve limping to the kitchen. He was not quite letting that greedy need to have Alg take over yet. There were still a few things left to do.

Jeremiah's chilled lips made him frown a warm hand coming up to settled on the man's cheek. He wasn't going to bother asking what time it was. It had already been late when he'd gotten in. Alg sat up, against the protests of the cats, who didn't actually move until he was at such an angle they had no choice. Hellbine sort of slid-rolled into his lap blinking and Violetta slid and landed on top of him before hopping to the floor and stretching. He'd at least taken pain killers so the knee was just a throb but it was stiff now that he'd laid out. "I can um-" His hand rubbed over his face, rubbed his eyes as he tried to wake up, "Start a shower.. or bath for you.."

Hellbine would eventually slide on top of his sister until he was pushing at her. Laze their way up the stairs and to where Algie and Jeremiah would end up anyway. Sometimes they slept in their nook but tonight, with what they had picked up on, sleeping near their people parents was preferred. Pausing in the kitchen doorway, Jeremiah leaned against it before he turned to answer Algie. No looking over his shoulder, that would pull too much. He was still in the same bloody clothing, his shirt and vest sliced at his hip and his pant leg the same way. The bandages were obvious but at least he had cleaned the blood off of his face and- "Shower," he replied, "I don't-" Jeremiah made a face at the idea of soaking, mostly because he did not want to soak in blood. "If you'd start the shower for me, precious, that would be great." Even if some part of him sorely tempted to just enjoy groggy Algie. Which lead to ... "Do you need a hand up the stairs?" That knee.

Alg had to lean a moment on the arm of the couch after he got to his feet, wincing before he could work the stiff knee into moving for him. He had to go get xrays they'd said and he'd be calling the doctor in the morning, but there were too many worse injuries than this. He paused at the bottom of the stairs when he got there and that twinge of annoyance came back, coming home alone because Jeremiah had to deal with things. "No-" He waved it off with a grunt and started his way up, "I'm fine." The drugs were still kicked in so once he was moving it wasn't so bad. Alg made his way slowly up the steps and into the bathroom.

Jeremiah was standing over the stove, staying close and waiting for the kettle to boil. Mostly he was cold and he ached and hurt - he had not taken anything himself yet for pain; not until the comfort of home - and the heat was nice. Eventually the water boiled and he was pulling it off of the stove to put onto the tray they used for tea. He thought about adding something for him to snack on - maybe for both of them - and pulled something from the fridge just for that kind of situation. Late night snacks might have been a thing for both of them. Making his way up the stairs ended up being harder than he anticipated, the stitches in his leg pulling and it ended up taking longer than he wanted. Just another sore point that it was taking longer to make it to Algie and bed and putting the night behind them.

The shower was going, steam filled the bathroom and drifted lightly through the cracked door. Alg was sitting in a chair in the bedroom with his leg up on a footstool and the bridge of his nose pinched between his fingers, eyes closed. He just wanted to sleep, but had to make sure Jeremiah was taken care of first. Hearing the sound of slow steps he rose and came to take the tray from him, "Shower first for you." It wasn't a question. The tray was put down and Alg was already moving to undress the other.

Jeremiah did not even protest the taking of the tray. Instead he was working the buttons of his vest until Algie was there helping him get undressed. "Just toss them, precious," the button-up, undershirt, the vest; all the layers. There was blood on them, his and others, and he had no desire to try and salvage them. Without a shirt on it was easy to spot the bandaging on his hip over his tattoo. His belt was ruined and had taken most of the damage and spared him. At least that made his belt easier to take off and the trousers slipped out of. "Fix me a cuppa?" he asked, leaning to press a kiss to Alg's temple. "I won't be long." Not at all because the hot shower would just clean him up but it would not make him warm and all he really wanted was to curl up in bed at this point with his lover. Jeremiah limped to the master bath. In there he would sit and peel off the bandaging that was wrapped around his leg and on his hip.

Alg grunted agreement, he was still rather groggy, and checked the discarded clothing's pockets before the whole mass of them were dumped in the bin by the bed. The green eyed man left Jeremiah to the bathroom while he prepared both of them tea. The truth was he wasn't interested in a cuppa as much as sleep at this point, but he needed to stay awake enough to take care of Jeremiah's back before they settled in. He was very near dozing again, cup and all, when Jeremiah came back out.

Jeremiah did not linger in the shower at all. Just enough to get himself cleaned up and wash his hair. He was back out in less than fifteen minutes, fresh bandages in hand and having slipped back into a pair of boxers. Finding Algie asleep with a cup of tea was endearing. He was taking the cup out of his hand and setting it back to the tray. "Alg," he murmured, touching his cheek lightly to finish waking him. Whatever had been left of the tension finally seemed to bleed out of him.

"Hrm, m'wake." He blinked his head up, fingers closing on air where his cup of tea had been. He was slightly unfocused without his glasses and half awake but he did reach out to run a warm soothing hand up Jeremiah's arm. "You're cold.." The tea was still fairly hot which meant Jeremiah's shower was short and he'd only dozed for a moment. "Have your tea. Shall I do the bandages?"

"If you say so, precious." Goosebumps appeared along where Algie ran his fingers, Jeremiah letting out a soft sigh. His eyes had slid shut at the touch, cracking back open when the other spoke. "Aren't I always without you?" he replied. It was not necessarily true but it seemed like in these situations, high stress and magic involved, the cold seeped into him. "If you don't mind?" He would take a seat and pick up his cup of tea - they really could not drink each other's tea; Algie's too sweet for him and his too bitter. The bandages were laid out. Mostly they were for the injury on his shin and calf. The slash of claws curled around it and were stitched up now. He had already gotten told off to take it easy and not pop the stitches.

"Don't try and sweet talk me.." Alg grumbled, scooting his chair closer so he could lean to the wrap bandages around his leg. "You should have been home sooner." Especially beat up. He was sure there had to be some things, if pressed, that could have been put off. Alg wound the bandage around Jeremiah's leg, covering the wounds before securing it and sitting back up with a tired sigh. He sipped his own tea, realized he really didn't want it, and left it.
