Menzuri were the sort of creature that people didn't tend to seek out for a battle and Rishima was no different. He would rather not have to battle with them unless he was forced to do so or someone came to him for help in dealing with them. The last time that he'd fought with some of the dangerous crystals spiders was when some people from Andile had come to him, seeking aid in getting rid of a nest of them that had moved in. Since then he hadn't seen any of them, instead enjoying a time of peace. The only battle that he'd had recently was the surprise one against the wadana and the only reason he'd fought them was because they were so persistent and refused to just leave him be. Had they left him alone or given up he'd of let the go... but that hadn't been the case. No they had wanted to keep fighting with him and that left him with only one choice, which was to finish that battle.

Today was a different day and a different situation, one that actually put the normally amiable Rishi in a bit of a foul mood. A trio of dangerous menzuri had decided to move in too close to where Rishima was living with Gerraden, putting the two of them at risk. While he wasn't as worried about himself having fought them before he was worried about Gerraden. What if they came after him while Rishima wasn't home? What if he wasn't ready? He had to protect him! To keep him safe from the menzuri. The last thing he'd allow was for them to even think about sinking their fangs into Gerraden.

After letting the younger male know that he was going out to 'run an errand' Rishima was on his way, weapon in hand, heading toward where he'd spotted the menzuri earlier. They were still busy where weaving was concerned meaning that he should be able to catch them off guard and before they were a real threat. That was his hope at least. They were far more dangerous when they had their webs put together but when they were on the ground or in the middle of weaving they were left vulnerable... or at least as vulnerable as any creature made of crystal could be he thought to himself. Heading forward as quickly and quietly as possible Rishima closed the ground between his home and the menzuri and found himself on edge.

They were far, far too close... making him wonder if they'd set up where they had on purpose. Was their plan to come after Gerraden? Did they see him as a potential meal? A thought that had his eyes narrowing, his antennae twitching like crazy. He wouldn't allow them to have him! Gerraden was someone that he cared for dearly and he'd be damned if some menzuri was allowed to even look his way with those beady eyes of theirs. Shaking his head, trying to clear his anger, he squatted down and started forward in a crouched position. He wanted to sneak up on them, to take out one of the creatures quickly, hopefully before they were able to spot him. A preemptive kill would be very useful and make the battle just a little bit easier. He didn't like the idea of still having to battle with them two on one but it was still vastly better then three on one.

Once he was close enough to see the menzuri he took stock of where they were, what they were doing, how far along their webs were in their construction, and various other details that would help him in the battle. He gave a thoughtful sound in his throat before starting forward toward one of the menzuri that was on the ground. Once he was close enough he flipped his weapon around and brought it down, point first, into the back of the closest menzuri's neck. It made a rather terrible, crunching sound as the blade bit into the beast's neck, before he gave it a twist. The menzuri gave a shrieking sound for a moment... one that was quickly cut off as its head was popped off, silencing it. Not quickly enough though as he looked around toward where the other two were located. As Rishima looked at them the menzuri looked right back, meaning both knew exactly where he was.

Not good but at least he'd accomplished what he wanted, which was to take out at least one of the three. That done he was now on the defensive against the remaining two and he was eager to finish them off so that Gerraden would once more be safe.

Rishima flipped his weapon once more, pointing the pair of menzuri that were making their way slowly toward him. The pair were dangerous, but the fact that one of the was on the ground and one was in a still half made web made him feel a little bit better about the battle. The one that was overhead was sort of swinging in the web which was making climbing a little slower going for that one. So that made him feel as though he should go after the one that was on the ground first, right? He gave a nod of his head, antennae giving a little bit of a twitch, before he started forward once more. It was time for him to take a chance and strike out at the grounded menzuri.

His weapon thrust forward, striking against the creature several times, each precise hit landing in the same spot time and again, something that was able to knock one of the menzuri's front legs off. It was a wound that was likely superficial at best given the fact that they had eight legs. Still, it did make it limp just a little bit, so he started to strike out again, going for another leg on the same side, taking off yet another leg from the menzuri, sending it stumbling. He lifted his weapon up, about to attack again, when a stream of webbing hit his weapon, dragging it out of his hands. He gave a gasping sound, jerking his head up, starring at the menzuri that was overhead, watching as it took hold of his weapon, snapping down on it.

"Hey! Don't you dare!" Squatting down Rishima swept up some rocks into his hands, sending them flying the way of the menzuri. They smashed into the hide of the creature, not doing much in the way of damage but it caused it drop his weapon... well... half of his weapon at least. He watched as the front half of his weapon fell to land before him and he starred at it, "Geez... this is just... ugh..." Damn menzuri had broken his spear in half with its mandibles. A just pain but he would see what he could with the front half of the weapon since if nothing else it was the sharp end. Once the battle was over he'd just have to see about getting a replacement weapon. He could even seek out his sister Dyakida as she was a weapon maker... but that was something that she would worry about later. For now he had to focus on the battle at hand.

The shortened spear in hands he turned his attention to the limping menzuri, rushing toward it, lunging into the air, coming down on the back of the menzuri, burying his weapon into its neck. He watched it as it flailed about, trying to knock him off even as the half spear caused it to bleed out. He was quick to pull the weapon free, bring it down a couple more times, doing his best to cut it down, before turning to face the one in the webs. It was the one that he was most looking forward to dealing with after what it had done to his weapon. Such a bother, he'd carried the spear for some time and to have a menzuri destroy it made him quite unhappy... but it was a price he was willing to pay if it meant protecting Gerraden.

Taking careful aim with the half spear he sent it flying toward the menzuri, burying it in the creature's neck. The result was the menzuri flailing about and hissing before falling out of its web. The sound of it hitting the ground was a sickening one and even after it hit the menzuri still flailed about for a time before finally going still. Rishima gave a sighing sound as he walked over to the fallen menzuri, taking back the pieces of weapon, before he started toward home. He didn't want to be out in the jungle of Jauhar for too much longer without a good weapon after all.
