Aandes normally felt at home in fundraising situations, parties, and banquets such as these. He had lived and conquered time and time again. This, however, was different. The soft, rapid thumb of his blood pusher was nearly drowned out by the obnoxious but inescapable sound of himself breathing. Aandes couldn’t have been more careful, more quiet. But padding slowly through the darkened hallways of this enormous Civisect mansion – the off-limit hallways of such an important banquet of one of his important sponsors, no less – made him feel like at any moment he could step on a tripwire or some kind of alarm. Perhaps even a squeaky cluckbeast, if he was paranoid enough (and if his sponsor was birthful enough). The night had started simply. As a benefactor of Four Fronds and newly discovered mogul of entertainment (particularly in the arena of Queen-sponsored musicals), Aandes had of course accepted the invitation to emerge from his Four Fronds dwelling to take part in social niceties and preening. His image needed to be constantly brushed, fed, and maintained. However, tonight was a touch more special than the other glitzy events the greenblood had attended. Gossip – intrigue, rather, in his circles – had wormed its way into the front of his thinkpan. The troll who had owned the mansion was an ex-Four Fronds entrepreneur who had moved to Civisect after the spaceship crash. He was incredibly rich, shrouded in mystery, and above all had curious military ties that no one could seem to piece together. The media brushed off his involvement with the sugar coating of his body of work, but Aandes was intrigued. If there was a better time to snoop, Aandes couldn’t think of it. So here he was. This was a clearly stupid idea, but the lack of guards and cameras in this sector of the mansion was promising. The speeches and fanfare would likely go on for hours – he wouldn’t be missed. Though, he would miss a shrimp cocktail or two. Shame. Peering down the hall, Aandes put his mind to work discerning the most likely source of the troll’s darkest, most valuable secrets. There - a large oak door to the left. Aandes dug into the pocket of his jet black suit and produced two thin black gloves. He released a soft breath.

Vulpin was, for the lack of a better word, bored out of his mind. He did his best to keep himself holed up in his little hut on the plains, but the wool beasts could only provide so much company, and certainly not the thrill he craved.
He was a criminal now, right? He supposed it was alright to make the best of it. He always liked the concept of being a mercenary, taking odd jobs here and there and not taking a proper side. Just following whoever was offering a bigger bag of beetles. It suited him, almost as well as his catsuit (that he adored).
His task tonight felt simple enough. Sneak into a mansion, steal some precious documents, slink back out undetected. The first task had been easy after the considerable amount of planning the orangeblood put in. Slipping in through a lock-picked window, Vulpin made quick work, silently filing through the office for the documents.
Aha, filing cabinet number two, he thought, pleased with himself. Everything was in order, he found, tabbing through the pages. Almost too easy. He smiled, slipping the pages into a thin briefcase.
Vulpin paused. He could have sworn he heard something just outside the door. Footsteps? They sounded faint, but close. Tense as ever, Vulpin held his ground, trying to not make any sound in the hopes that the troll in question would simply pass by.

After his quick breath, Aandes wasted no time. He quietly turned the knob, slipped inside in one fluid motion, and closed the door behind him. Breathe out. Aandes swiveled to turn around into the room, his eyes passing over the gauzy darkness. Chair. Desk. Cabinet! …Troll?
Aandes froze. His joints locked, eyes wide and throat choked with surprise. Normally, he’d simply suggest his mistake on the way to the ablutionblock, but upon quick analysis of the situation that didn’t seem quite appropriate. That was not an outfit one would wear to a banquet. That was not a cabinet a party-goer would open. Well, he would open it, but… He was clearly a bit too late to be the villain here, even if he tried. Aandes hand quickly went for his pocket out of instinct, aiming to grab hold of his chakrams in case the shadowy thief was keen on tying up loose ends.

Vulpin made direct eye contact with Aandes, eyes widening considerably under his mask. This wasn't the owner— or really, anybody on the guest list that he recognized. Then again, the who's of the situation didn't particularly matter, did they? This troll was pulling a weapon on him, and quite possibly a ranged one. He had to get out of here, fast.
Swiftly, he flipped the tabs of the briefcase shut. He turned his head towards Aandes in an almost apologetic gesture, if not for the horrible smirk painted on his face. "Sorry," He whispered sarcastically.
Then in two quick leaps, the brown blood crossed the room towards the window, attempting to dive through as noiselessly as he entered. Only, flustered by the arrival of a new troll, he managed to miss the open partition, instead crashing through a separate pane of glass and tumbling ungracefully out the side of the ********>. Now he was hanging off the edge of the hive by one hand, briefcase occupying the other. There was another ledge below him, but it was a pretty steep jump. He'd place his bets trying to find another way around.

20 N/A Would anyone believe Aandes if he suggested that, while perusing the unattended portion of the mansion, he’d come across a thief and hadn’t apprehended him? Documents were clearly missing. Something had gone awry. His lip twitched realizing the notion. He could simply slip back the way he came and hope to be undetected. If this was a different situation he wouldn’t bat an eye. But, there was something about that thief that was entirely intriguing. Later, Aandes would rationalize that he may have thought in that instance of a plan. If he pursued him, he’d at least have an alibi were he to be caught – assuming he wasn’t considered an accomplice. Later, when he’d have time to think, he’d consider following the catsuited troll to be the best idea that existed at the time. Whether it was true or not was beside the point, because as soon as Vulpin dashed towards the window Aandes sprung into action. With an immense crash, the thief burst through the window. Aandes was shocked into a state of adrenaline, and as quickly as he could think “******** ******** ********” he had stepped onto the windowsill himself. 0 damage!

Vulpin looked up at the greenblood and let out a hushed laugh. This no-name had guts trying to apprehend him like this. He was either some righteous do-gooder, or perhaps someone more like himself. Getting a good look at Aandes, he anticipated the latter. Still, he wasn't letting him get in his way.
On his right, he spotted a shorter rooftop that he could make a break for. Swinging back once for a better jump, Vulpin made a leap of faith.
And faltered again. Thankfully, he hit the edge, but collided squarely with it and ended up knocking all of the wind out of his gut. Clawing his way up, he desperately sought to put his heels on solid ground again.

20 N/A Aandes smiled. At this rate, the thief was looking like no pro. Aandes watched as they chose their target and followed closely after, regretting the fact that he’d likely ruin this suit by the end of the evening. At this point, Aandes had pulled out his weapon. Fortunately, it could serve as a restraining device in a pinch. He clutched the chakrams and pinched them together, ready to use it as a whip or some kind of lasso should the need strike him. The greenblood rushed over the rooftops. With the thief's lead, he wouldn't be able to get to him quickly. Hopefully closing the distance wouldn't lead to his own demise.

This was going terribly. And Vulpin was making a gog damn fool of himself, to boot. Finally regaining his footing, the orangeblood turned back to Aandes, sneering at how much distance the other troll had crossed in the meantime. Plucking one of his knives out from his boot, he tossed it at the greenblood and ran, hoping to daze him and make up for lost distance.

18 boof N/A It wasn’t a perfect hit, but the knife whizzed past Aandes’ head and made him gasp. He nearly lost his balance on the steeply angled rooftops, swearing quietly to himself as he was barely able to stay on his feet. If the danger hadn’t hit him before, it did now. Too late to back out. Aandes grimaced and paced along the rooftops, holding his breath on his jumps. If this was less harrowing he’d be having a hell of a time. Actually, he couldn’t say he was having a bad time…

Vulpin didn't bother to turn back and look, but the sounds of Aandes' missteps were enough to make him smirk. Perhaps carelessly, he slipped another knife out of his catsuit and turned to throw it at the greenblood again.

15 aaaa 5 damage! N/A "Ssshit!" Aandes hissed as a blade sheared through his sleeve. He had no time to check for blood. He couldn't feel any injury, but all that was pumping now was mindless adrenaline. If he gave up he could return to the party - he had plenty of excuse. These thoughts were nowhere near the greenblood's thinkpan. He wound up his yo-yo chakrams. The thief was in sight. Aandes pulled back his arm and reared forward. The wire of the weapon glinted in the moonlight. With any luck he'd wrap around some limb of the thief and trip him up. He only had a bit of ground to gain, and with that he could beat the heels off of this cocky intruder.

"********!" Aandes' weapon wrapped around Vulpin's legs, making him fall ungracefully for the third time tonight. He shot the weapon an angry look, and then shared that with Aandes. There was no way he was going to cut through that weapon with his knives.
Instead, Vulpin improvised. Pulling his legs close and then towards the open side of the building, he hoped to trip up the greenblood enough into dropping his weapon.

14 3 damage! N/A Success! Extra training was paying off. He wasn't as confident up close, but he had no choice. Aandes was yanked forward, his hand in pain from the sharp rip of his foe tugging his weapon away. He felt it slip out of his grip and swore brusquely as it tumbled downwards. Aandes could not leave loose ends. ********. He scrambled towards the thief and awkwardly reclaimed what was his. It was a strategic short-term misstep that Aandes would certainly regret. The two now shared a rooftop.

Freeing himself up, Vulpin smiled darkly. Normally a situation like this would have him terrified, but he felt like he was on more equal footing with this troll. Something sinister stirred in him, and he decided it would make things simpler if he dealt with the greenblood right here and now. Aandes deserved that much, after doing such a good job of tracking him down.
Moving in quickly, he retrieved one of his knifes and crept closer beside Aandes. Plunging the weapon into his side, he whispered, "Nothing personal."
