Wil was waiting for Nasir to be done work. It was getting to evening, sunset hours, and Borr hated him smoking out front because he looked like a bit of a hobo so instead he snuck around the back rooms until he found the stairs leading up to the second floor storage area and then further even up to the roof. He tried to be quiet when he pushed open the door, knowing Borr wouldn't want him up here either. The lazy blonde didn't even make the time to enjoy the view or test the squishiness of the roof tar before he was fishing in his backpack for his paraphernalia.

There was no comfort like a rooftop that Lily had found. Darlene's was not technically her rooftop to lounge on, but it was in proximity to Nasir and if she ignored the intense smell of grease and fried food, it felt like a second home. But she heard rattling from downstairs and knew that the jig was up, that Borr was going to find her and probably send her home, and instead of jumping or trying to hide, she continued to sit with her legs splayed out, eyes up on the area where the latter spit out. When she saw a familiar blonde mop, however, her posture visibly relaxed. "I didn't know hanging out here was a thing," she called out dryly, smiling through the black in her lipstick to say she was joking. "Have you and Barrettes been holding out on me or something?"

Wil glanced up, something thin and already half burnt clenched between his lips as he fished for a lighter. He really didn't expect to see anyone, especially not someone he knew. "Hey-" The blonde smiled, pausing to actually light his roach before he approached. "What's up?" And then a stupid chuckle. They were up. "I actually only sneak up here to smoke sometimes because when Borr doesn't see me for a while sometimes he goes looking.." Once he'd been playing dice in the alley with a couple of bar guys. You know... fun stuff. "So uhhh roofs huh?" Wil collapsed next to her, mostly because every time he sat he seemed to collapse a bit in on himself. "They all the rage these days?"

"Not much," responded Lily warmly, patting at the tiling next to her in invitation. "Just hanging around." She understood wanting to hide from Borr. Cuddly as he was rumored to be, he was still a giant man covered in tattoos. Lily didn't want to see what would make him angry. "Roofs," she nodded in agreement, curling into herself. "It's nice up here. Quiet." And I have the pathological urge to be up in places, she thought to herself, but Wil was not Nasir. He didn't have to know.

"Well Nasir said you're some kinda cool climbing furry thing right?" Wil wasn't one to use tact, he wasn't much good at it unless he was selling you weed. Even then it was pretty obvious. It figured Nasir would tell his boyfriend about it. It even further figured that Wil, the laziest sleepiest, chillest person around wouldn't even bat an eye. It wasn't like those creepy, gropey posters that said IT WALKS. "How's that goin? You need any uh... medicinal smoke?" His brows lifted and he smiled before glancing back out at the view, smoothly moving on, "I think I'd wanna be like... a ferret or something."

"Something like that," Lily muttered darkly, and she curled her knees into her chest. She knew telling Nasir had meant that Wil was inevitably going to know, but she hadn't expected to have to explain it so soon. "It...goes," she sighed, glancing over to the blonde as she shook her head. "Nah, man, more for you. You're not supposed to give animals that stuff anyway." Mixed in with her classic dose of flat humor was a twinge of bitterness, of something afraid, and she wrapped her arms around her legs. "I always thought I was more of a swan," she murmured, leaning her cheek on one knee. "But you know, I'm really actually cool with just being a person. Being a person is tops."

Wil moved to sit beside her, not too far to the edge, but there was plenty of leeway before he was in danger of falling. He shoulder bumped her good naturedly, "You're still you. Yeah? Now you just have uh... animal powers I guess." Wil hit his weed and blew the smoke up into the air, "I knew a guy once who had a cat that loved weed. He used to pick the roaches out of the ashtray and eat them and then go pass out outside. Cat was huge and he loooved ganja." Of course the cat then passed out in the street one day and got hit by a car. Leave that part out. "You're still a person." Wil shoulder bumped her again, "Besides I may need your help with something soon if that's cool? To surprise Nasir?" amitotic true story about the cat btw

"Huh. How 'bout that." Lily wasn't sure she believed the story of somebody's big stoner cat, but the image of some fluffball with bloodshot eyes and a craving for pizza was enough to earn a chuckle. She let herself be pushed by the shoulder bump, rocking away and back as she meekly stared at her hands. It was reassuring to hear that Wil didn't seem perturbed by the whole turn of events, and maybe she was over-reacting about the severity of it all. "Yeah, man, whatever you need," she nodded slowly, glancing over at him from under her bangs. Nasir was the closest she had to family, there wasn't much she wouldn't do for the chef. iloveyouDIE I'm so sorry about the delay on this ;A;

"Our third anniversary is coming up.." Wil's feet shuffled a bit, messing with the weird texture of the roof, "He always- never fail- does some awesome thing with an elaborate set up for me." Wil hit his smoke again, blew it into the breeze and yawned, "My turn. Gonna surprise him but I need people to sort of thwart him being able to do the same for me. And then like.. wrangle him on the day." Nasir always went out of his way to do things for other people. Wil wanted to do the same for him, more than the usual amount.

"I dunno, I normally charge a pretty high premium for chef wrangling, especially during peak season," she drawled sardonically, counting at invisible figures on her hands. "Buuuuuut I think I can squeak you in, since it's for a good cause." It was an awkward, clunky attempt at humor, but at least it was better than moping. "When's the date?"

Wil smiled at the humor. He had a carefree, easy way about him, not so unlike Nasir but a bit lazier. "Well I think he'll be suspicious if it's on our actual anniversary-" The blonde hit his smoke again before snuffing it out on the edge of the roof and slipping it into a bag and zipping it away again. "-so I'm going to do it a bit early. So he doesn't beat me to it." Wil stood and shifted his slightly rumpled and loose clothing. Everything always looked like it was half-falling off of him, "I'll text you like a couple weeks before. Gotta work some other stuff out. Thanks man."

"That's...actually smart as hell," Lily nodded, the corners of her mouth pulling down in a gesture that said 'not bad'. For all that her makeup and dark clothes said 'do not approach, for I am satan-spawn', she was generally pretty easy to get along with, and meshed well with mellow types like Nasir and Wil. "But yeah, just text me. Hopefully all this...magical animal stuff will blow over by then."

Wil gave Lily a shoulder pat, "If you need anything call a'right? And no fallin off any buildings or anything." What if she wasn't something that landed on it's feet? The blonde wandered away finally, going to the entrance back inside, opening it, listening to make sure Borr wasn't around, and slipping back inside to go find either Nasir or the sofa again for a nap.
