shorthandedHe was down another part-timer. Not that it mattered much, not that he was talking about it. But he'd gotten a call this morning that a friend of his uncle's had a son who needed a job for the summer and into his senior year of high school. Young. Too young. Probably an idiot, no matter how much the guy had assured him that the teen had work experience. Jaro was in the workshop, not making an effort to meet the mysterious teen, but assuming he would find his way to meet him. What kind of name was Aodh anyway?

shorthandedIf there was a picture of someone next to bright-eyed and hopeful, Aodhan's picture was likely next to it. He had not wanted to work at his family's place for the summer, he had wanted to branch out and do something new. His father had thrown the scrapyard job at him as if he expected Aodh to not take it. The man had never been more wrong. It was absolutely the kind of job that he wanted to do. Especially since the place had a reputation for amazing sculptures ... He was dressed in clothing he could mess up, blonde hair just a touch too long and falling into his eyes when he wasn't careful. Aodhan was still at the thin and lanky stage, not at all filled out and his height ... Well. He was one of the shortest in his class. Eventually he found the office and was knocking on the doorframe. "Hello?" he called out, head poking in and grey eyes looking around for the illusive Jaro. Jaro was such a cool name. iloveyouDIE u don't deserve this cinnamon bun, jaro.

shorthandedThe office was empty, but a mess of papers and boxes and boxes of papers. Perhaps a hint at future projects. The elusive Jaro seemed to be especially elusive today, though there was noise coming from the path through the scrap that led around to the back. The half open air workshop where the tall man was currently wearing a welding mask, heavy gloves, and welding something together that was about 3 feet high and looked vaguely like Picasso drew a horse.

shorthanded LOLnope. Not in the office. Aodhan frowned for a moment before he thought he heard something. It lead to him wandering the path to the workshop and finding the older man working on ... Well. It looked like something Picasso would have put together. The sculpture looked cool, Aodh standing to the side and out of the way until he could get the man's attention with a flick of fingers in greeting. Another hello too. iloveyouDIE don't tag at 1am kids, you misread locations *faceplant*

shorthandedJaro didn't pause his welding until something that looked like a dangerously like a serrated horse's mane was fully attached akimbo to what must be the neck of the metal creation. The welding torch turned off and he flipped up his visor, still seeing spots a bit as he blinked through sweat in his eyes. Was that a child? Dear got he was a small, young thing. "Odin?" He'd only heard the name, not seen it written, so he assumed someone had named their kid after a norse god. Jaro was obviously properly smudged and sweaty and all around hot-gross.

shorthandedAodh may have flushed from a combination of the look he was being given and the hot mess that Jaro was. He was seventeen, okay. Cut him some slack. Nevermind that Jaro probably thought him some little thing and useless kid given his size ... "Yes, but, ah, not like the Norse god." He paused and flashed an uneasy smile. "Ode-ahn or A-ode-ahn or ... just ode? Like Ode to Joy." His nose wrinkled up. "My parents went through a mythology book and found the name. It's probably some old fancy version on Aidan."

shorthanded"Ugh.." Jaro made a face, "Aidan is terrible. Stick with Aodh- Ode- Whatever." Still, blushing teen was precious. Unfortunately he wasn't looking for precious at the moment. He was looking for help. "I was told you have experience... what can you do exactly?"

shorthanded"I prefer Aodh. It's ... less trouble," he replied. Especially when people tried to struggle to say or spell his name. His parents had not really thought about the consequences of naming their child something weird. He left out that his name meant fire. At least that part of it was cool. "Yeah, I do. I've helped out with my family's business. I've got experience with glassblowing and silversmithing." Aodh was pointing towards some of the machinery that Jaro had. "I know to use some of this stuff and I've made things with metal. Nothing as cool as what you're working on though ..."

shorthanded"Mmmm.." Jaro liked the compliment on his weird horse, as strangely proportioned and arranged it was, his work had a measure of whimsy in pose, expression and arrangement. He laughed gently, "This old thing?" What a shitbag. "Sounds good... how about we start you in the office. Just umm... arrange my files." Aodh was given a thumbs up and his welding mask was flipped back down as if to say that was the end of the conversation.

shorthandedAodh was not sure he liked the way that Jaro seemed to demure at the compliment. Also because he was pretty certain that he was kind of a - The thought was pushed away. This was someone he was going to work for. He blinked a moment at the dismissal and was quiet. Something about it really, really bothered him and just the flippant attitude - "Just office work? I can do more than that." I've done more than that. "There's not anything out here to help with?"

shorthanded"And I need some damn invoices found. Not sure if you noticed but this is personal work-" He motioned to the horse thing he was making. The implication if there was actual pressing work he'd be doing it. " Did you want to work here or not?" Jaro apparently didn't like being questioned by kids who wanted to prove themselves and thought working from the top, fun stuff, was where you started. " This is the work that needs to be done right now." Besides if Aodh had any sense, he would look at the paperwork as he went through it and familiarize himself with companies, materials, and the kind of things Jaro was doing here at the yard.

shorthandedAodh went red, not pink. There could be a speech about how he got the personal work - that was all Jaro's and he wouldn't presume - but he would rather be sorting scrap than paperwork. Too much like home where, yes, Aodh, you can help out but only after you've done all these other things. He hated being a secretary. It was why he had wanted to do something different than work with his parents for the summer. The words were there and they even flickered across his face but they never came out. "Alright. Arranging it is." Which was the only response Jaro got. Just a short, clipped nod of his head and turning on his heel to disappear back to the office.

you graduatedAodh had, essentially, graduated from paperwork to sorting crap and dealing with drop offs and customers but Jaro hadn't let him use any of the major machinery. Not until today. He let him work on some things he said he was familiar with, though the auburn haired man kept lingering and hovering and peering over the young man's shoulder. Which he was doing now, opening his mouth as if he were going to suggest something, but then shutting up. Didn't want to get him hurt...

you graduatedAodh could do this kind of work. Could take things apart and operate the machinery but Jaro's presence kept him on edge. There was stiffness to his shoulders that normally wasn't there because he knew the other was right there. He heard the intake of breath and paused briefly to see if anything was said ... When it wasn't, he started right back up again. The teen was going to do this right regardless of Jaro shadowing him. iloveyouDIE paging jaro to be an appropriate distraction

you graduatedJaro walked away, went to do something else, but then was back within moments again with the gaping unsaid comments. Until he finally was leaning in, "No- Aodh.. do it like-" But he was stupid and gave no warning (AND HE WAS HORRIBLE BOSS) and the metal piece slipped and sliced and burnt Aodh. It was hard to tell the damage, there was blood - his parents would kill him, and the machine was abruptly turned off in a panic. "OH GOD!" azuredreams its prob not that bad >.>
