The sand underneath her bare soles sent a comforting heat up to the young woman's calves. She was ready to show her father how strong she was, to prove to him that she deserved to be called his child. Nera wanted nothing more than to prove to Radesh that she was able bodied and noble. However the former redheaded Oban found herself nervous under all of the sets of eyes that peered down from the stands, she was used to fighting beasts but never in front of such a sizable crowd. Right now she was all bravada and no substance.
Easing down into a crouch Nera let the leather thong of her whip tumble across the hot grit of the arena floor, she could do this, she just had to get the drop on her opponent. A heavy thudding in her chest spurred the youth's premature advancement, extending her whip Nera aimed at the center of her opponent's body but her execution and follow through were completely wrong causing the whip to lash out several meters next to Karothdra.
"You got to be kidding me!"

Total DMG: 9.5 )) Karothdra stretched backstage, her match was going to up soon and she wanted to be fully prepared. She’d seen to settling her family in the stands, minus her brother of course, before making her way back down to where all the other fighters were waiting. She ignored all of them, far more concentrating on going through her usual steps before a fight. This wasn’t her first tournament; the butterflies didn’t tickle her stomach or make her look sick like some of the other contestants here. She wondered who her opponent was out of this sea of people; she was looking forward to her first fight.
When her name was called as well as her opponent, her eyes caught sight of the woman. Impressive, Karothdra noted the woman’s musculature with interest and then the whip at her hip. The white hair threw her off a little, she didn’t know if the woman was a Hybrid or not. Not that it mattered, Karothdra stepped forward and then out into the field. Chin lifted she eyed the crowd before getting into her usual stance. This Nera was impressive, but Karothdra was not afraid. Her father was watching, she was going to prove to him he had chosen the wrong sibling.
Watching, Karothdra observed how the girl moved, studied her, and didn’t move as the whip cracked right next to her. There was no point; she’d known the hit wouldn’t land. That was the trouble when you had an opponent that got in close and personal with you. Granted, Karothdra knew not many liked the thrill of fighting as much as she did, nor were as blood thirsty for a good fight and blood like she was. The corners of her lips twitched up into a small smile before she rushed forward and aimed a punch at her opponent.

Everything was already slipping from her grasp yet there was nothing she could do to prevent the other woman from slamming into her. Nera had brought up her hand and shifted her weight to deflect the attack but the darker-skinned Oban simply displayed a ferocity that dominated through her defense. It was embarrassing having some common sand flea best her so easily. Gloved knuckles honed in on her face connecting all too solidly with her jaw sending her down onto one knee, splitting her bottom lip. “You mother fuc---” Anger swelled out of control. It was what she had been trying to avoid but here she was barely out of the gates and already seeing red; both figuratively and literally.
An instant was all that had passed yet it felt so much longer. Narrowed pink eyes glared upward at the woman that dared strike her, that made her look the fool. How could she have not recognize Karothdra. The pair had tip-toed around each other their whole lives, both of their parents held the rank of General; regrettably their social circles overlapped at every conceivable military held event. Apparently this one was no different. Nera wouldn’t allow herself to fall, she couldn’t humiliate her mother like that especially against a fellow officer.
There was a slight opening in the other woman’s defense, it wasn’t much but at least she could counter-attack. Thrusting upward Nera brought the hilt of her whip towards Karothdra’s abdomen, she couldn’t make use of the willowy leather but the hardened handle could at least knock the wind out of the other girl’s sails--- if she hit.

Total DMG: 16.5 )) The blow she’d thrown landed; she’d felt her gloved hand touch the woman’s jaw and watched as it sent her down to one knee. Thankfully the pain of her knuckles was one that Karothdra had long learned to ignore and hitting flesh and bone simply didn’t compare to repeatedly hitting on a wooden surface until it broke. Her father’s way of teaching his children how to harden their fists, his way had hardened her fist for this kind of tournament. At some point though, adrenaline would take over and the pain would be none existent in her mind.
The woman swore and Karothdra ignored her, she’d never been a talker in these types of situations. The upper blow Nera threw wasn’t visible to her because her body had been blocking the move and so, Karo took the handle of the whip right in the stomach. She bent forward a bit clutching the spot she had hit as the pain spiked before narrowing her eyes and aiming a punch downwards. This hit though, Karothdra made sure to put in a lot of power through. If it hit her, the damage would be considerable but because of the angle though the hit could be avoided. She was going to have to do better.

There was no time to move or at least her body was too off-balance to allow her to do so. The strike came down hard. Crunch. “Issd!” The white-haired beast charmer swore, a geyser of blood all but exploded from her nose and her vision swam from the overwhelming pain. She had to get out from underneath the other contender before she drove her into the ground. Even when they were little Karo was superior when it came to strength. After all of this was over she vowed to improve herself, she wouldn’t stop training until she was perfection.
Cupping her face Nera back peddled as best she could, everything throbbed and felt as if red hot iron had been stabbed into the center of her face then yanked out with a twist. It hurt, by all the gods it hurt so damn bad. Karo was going to pay! Steadying her shoulders and Nera lashed out as hard as she could with her whip.

Total DMG: 13 )) If Nera had stayed to the ground, Karothdra would have unleashed a flurry of fists and lost herself to her own bloodlust. That what had happened last time and she was still unable to get it under control, perhaps she never would. The adrenaline simply took over and all she wanted was to make sure her opponent was down and out. It was the only thing her father had never been able to teach her to control and if she ever planned on at least trying, it would take more training. However, that was a decision Karo needed to make by herself.
Even has Nera got back up, Karo moved forward only briefly pausing and twitching as she felt the lick of the whip cut her shoulder. She would bleed, but not as much as Nera currently was. She was certain she’d broken the poor girl’s nose. No matter that, Karo hissed at the kiss of pain before advancing closer and throwing another hooked punch towards her opponent. This one had power behind it too, but she needed to be careful and pace herself properly if she didn’t want to run out of energy before the end of the match.

Nera was ready, something about the agony drilling into her skull and reverberating off her teeth heightened her reflexes, there was no way she could take more punishment like that. The darker-skinned woman all but brushed off the snap of her whip breaking skin. It was as if she didn’t feel anything at all. Another fist aimed with precision towards her face came barreling at her with raw power.
“Karo!” Nera barked, her voice pitched up then gave a wet crack. Even as she spoke out Nera felt her body reacting all its own, shoulders tumbled over heels as the youth somersaulted to her left and landed in a haphazard roll with her weapon readied. Karo had been dishing out enough punishment it was time that she retaliated.

Total DMG: 5.5 )) The name caught her off guard, enough so that when Nera avoided her attack and threw a counter Karothdra cried out and gripped her side where the whip had sliced cleanly through her clothing and flesh. She could feel her warm blood tickling through and soaking up her top.
“Do I know you?” The Oban tried to think if she’d fought a dark skinned white haired woman before and her mind came up blank. She did however, share the same name as a noble she knew. A general’s daughter that had eclipsed somewhere, though that daughter certainly did not have white hair. Could this be this same daughter? No, impossible right? Her father had never said anything about it, surely he would have said something if his daughter was paired against another generals daughter…
This was still a tournament, what if this woman was just trying to confuse or distract her? She could not allow it. Karothdra pressed on the wound a little bit, gauging the pain before moving again towards Nera. She threw another punch, this one consider weaker than her previous two hits as the two wounds Nera had given her made her wince. Still, it was a hit even if weak.

The hostility in Karothdra’s voice more than irritated Nera. How could the woman NOT know who she was! They had bathed together for Issd’s sake! The corner of her full pouty mouth tugged into a full on snarl, the action causing the tear in her lip to split further. “I’m General Talia’s daughter, you ninny!” Another fist flew at her but in her angered state she chose to allow the blow to collide into her stomach without attempting stop it. Ribs didn’t quite crack under the assault, the air in her lungs however escaped her fully. However inside of staggering backwards or wheezing for oxygen the former-redhead lashed out at full strength.
