Ondine was used to fighting up close and personal, so when she realized she was facing a magic caster, she felt a tremble in her heart. This wasn't great, and she knew that, because this caster had something she wasn't prepared for. If she could get close, she could strike, but when the lightning rushed at her, she really didn't have much of an option. She was slammed by the energy, and let out a cry, before her eyes narrowed and she rushed toward her opponent.

She didn't mean to maim, but they both knew why they were there and she wouldn't hold back after that strike. So she launched her fist forward in effort to hit the girl and hopefully knock her a bit back and disorient. She did not want to get struck twice.

Aylin didn't have time to feel worried about the damage inflicted on her opponent- moreover, they were both willingly fighting- she had to do her best to move out of the path of the gauntlet coming her way! She felt the harsh glancing blow as she tried to deflect the majority of the force with her staff, having Ondine this close, she didn't want to chance throwing around lightning and instead called upon the water around them to coalesce into hampering tirade. Instead, the most she was able to muster in this unusual arid environment was a useless sprinkling of mist.

Speed || 9 (+0)(+0) = (+0)Ondine attempts to attack! Needs a 14 to hit. Rolls a 7 (+3) MISS--- The mist rose around them, and Ondine paused for a second before sending her opponent a cheeky grin. "Nicely done, I needed to cool off!" It was a playful jest, and she had but a moment before she rushed in. However, the mist did play a part in causing her to lose a bit of stability, and as she went into swing, she felt her balance go off and the hit go wide. A frown marred her face as she backed off a step to collect herself.

Now with some distance between them, Aylin reached within for her connection to lightning magic once more. Returning her opponents jest as she called out, "Don't get too charged up!" and let her lightning magic loose in the mist around her, electricity crackling around Ondine. She was gaining confidence now, starting to loosen up in this battle.

She was funny, and Ondine barely moved to dodge the attack, getting her arm singed in the process. It felt like a shock, and she shook her arm off before realizing how close she was again to her opponent. She took a step forward and swung.

Maybe she was getting too confident, she caught more of this blow and inhaled sharply at the glancing pain- ow. She did not want to feel the full force of her opponent's attack! She was too nervous to use her lightning magic in close quarters though and tried once again to call on the forces of water to help her- but to no avail. The light mist around them coalesced into one stream of water that splashed towards her opponent harmlessly.

Aylin yelped as Ondine's hit met with her side- winding her temporarily. As she fought to catch her breath she desperately reached within for another blast of lightning magic, it was becoming her reliable ally rather than a begrudged challenge. Electricity crackled, running down the length of her staff as she wielded it towards Ondine, she needed to end this battle!

Because of how close they were, she wasn't able to dodge the tip of the rod. The lightning traveled from her side through her body, sending her flying back and to the ground. It took a long moment for her to gather her breath, and she was awake, but her body had grown numb and she couldn't lift her arm let alone her form.
Groaning and rolling over, she glanced to to judge and shook her head.
"It's done, I'm done."
Magic, it seemed was something she needed to learn how to deal with if she planned on becoming a fighter in the future.
