Students who have not posted in lessons this year may now post their students 'reviewing' the year's lessons to avoid the loss of house points for non-attendance. This is your last chance to post in this lesson. No house points may be earned this week.
If you are quoted below, you have not posted in Potions this school year. This week will be your last opportunity to do so. Please quote Cara MiaKitty in your post so that she sees that your student has arrived for review and you will be marked as attending. Failure to post your student this week will result in a loss of house points.

spaceAdalaide watched as her new fourth years entered the classroom, seated behind the desk, what appeared to be a cherry lollipop in her mouth. On the desk, to lessen any suspicion concerning the 'treat', she had a jar of similar looking lollipops, of various flavors, with a small sign indicating that, should they be inclined, students were free to take one. It served a dual purpose; making her own seem less notable, and hopefully endearing herself to the students.
spaceThe blonde smoothed her skirt as she stood to start the lesson, hoping she'd make a good first impression. If the students liked her, rumors were much less likely to fly."Evening, everyone! I'm Professor Adalaide Whitethorne. I assume you all know one another well enough by now, so I won't bother with any sort of lengthy introductions or anything like that. If everyone could just stand up, give me your name and house, we'll be done with it."She hoped she could keep the names straight, but reasoned that it shouldn't be overly difficult if she paid close attention."I'd also like to request that, just for these first couple of weeks, if you could try to keep in the same seats, since it'll make it easier for me to associate names with faces."
spaceOnce the introductions were out of the way, she waved her wand, and a set of instructions appeared on the board."Today, we'll be starting off with the Wit-Sharpening Potion. Its purpose is to help the drinker think more clearly, and it can be used to counteract the affects of a confundus charm. It's a somewhat complex potion, so if you need any help, feel free to ask either myself or one of your classmates. When brewed correctly, the potion should be a dark orange color. The instructions are up for you on the board, supplies are in the cupboard."She watched the students prepare to begin brewing, and moved to sit at her desk. Hopefully, nothing exploded... that did tend to happen in Potions classes on occasion.
xMix in Ginger Root until lime green x Mix Armadillo Bile until blue x Mix Ground Scarab Beetles until red x Remix Armadillo Bile until red liquid is yellow (not dark green) x Remix Ginger Root until the brew is lime green x Mix Armadillo Bile until the potion is purple x Allow potion to simmer for 10 minutes x Add more ginger root until deep purple

spaceAdalaide watched as her fifth years entered the classroom, seated behind the desk, what appeared to be a cherry lollipop in her mouth. She knew that she'd made a fairly good impression last year, at least, but she'd like to keep it up. She wanted her students to like her, after all.
spaceOnce everyone was settled, she waved her wand, and a set of instructions appeared on the board."Welcome back, everyone. Today, we'll not be brewing any potions. Instead, we're going to learn about Everlasting Elixirs. These are potions which have been charmed to either never run out, or for their effect to never wear off. We'll be learning about the spell to achieve this effect. I'm going to demonstrate the proper technique a couple of times, and instructions are on the board for you all to copy down and keep for future reference."She retrieved her wand from it's place sticking out of her bun, and stepped behind her desk. On it, a cauldron sat, filled with a simple boil-cure."You each have a couple of small cauldrons filled with a Boil-Cure Potion on your desk. You'll be using these to practice. I want you to be very sure that you have the pronunciation and motion down properly before actually attempting the spell, as consequences of an improperly cast charm can be dangerous. The incantation is as follows: 'Ay-TERN-um.' Say it a few times to ensure that you're pronouncing it correctly. Once you have that down, you'll move on to the wand movement. Tap the cauldron twice, then make a circle above it. When you're comfortable, attempt the spell on the two potions on your desk, bottle a portion of each, and label them with your house, name, year, and Attempt One or Two."Adalaide hoped she'd been clear in her instructions with this. She wasn't bad at charms, not by a long shot, but she was infinitely better at instructions for potions. But, she supposed that she'd find out soon enough. Hopefully, nobody made any crucial mistakes. Thankfully, the potions were just boil-cures. There wasn't much that could go wrong if the students were overzealous with their attempts.
xName of the spell - Aeternum x Pronunciation of the spell - Ay-TERN-um x Meaning behind the name - forever, always, eternally, for ever, also, perpetually x Effects of the spell - It casts an enchantment that causes potions to last longer than their intended duration ie: Everlasting Elixers. x Wand movements required to preform properly - Tapping your wand twice on the cauldron and then make a circle above the potion. x History behind the spell - It was made by an irate witch that hated it when she had to take a potion several times a day for pain. Unfortunately, the spell worked so well, that while she succeeded in making the potion last indefinitely, it had the unfortunate effect of making her numb to all pain and caused her death a year later since she didn't feel it when she got whalloped by a Whomping Willow. However, the spell has been refined since, leading to more controlled effects of long-lasting potions. x Is there a distance requirement? - You have to be in close proximity to the potion for it to work. x Are the effects lasting? - It is just as the spell description suggests. x Anything else? - It is a very tricky spell, requiring exceptional concentration since a miscast can have serious, even deadly consequences.

spaceAdalaide watched as her sixth years entered the classroom, seated behind the desk, what appeared to be a cherry lollipop in her mouth. On the desk, to lessen any suspicion concerning the 'treat', she had a jar of similar looking lollipops, of various flavors, with a small sign indicating that, should they be inclined, students were free to take one. It served a dual purpose; making her own seem less notable, and hopefully endearing herself to the students.
spaceOnce everyone was settled, she waved her wand, and a set of instructions appeared on the board."Welcome back, everyone! Before I begin this lesson, I am going to preface it with a warning; love potions are serious business. They are not toys. They are not a way to gain the attention of someone you admire. This is especially true in this case, as Amortentia is the strongest love potion in existence. It does not create love. It makes the person who drinks it obsessive and infatuated, and it is dangerous. You are being taught this potion because it is extremely complex, and you, as NEWT-level students, are expected to be learning to brew complex potions. But not one drop of it will leave this room, and if I find out you are trying to sneak it out, there will be serious repercussions."Adalaide attempted to look as stern as she possibly could, which was somewhat hindered by the fact that most of her students were taller than her and probably outweighed her by a good fifty pounds. But, it was something her father had hammered into her for basically her entire life. Love potions were dangerous. She supposed that at least she had the experience of being a mother to help bolster her ability to look intimidating, though it was much easier to intimidate a pair of four year olds. Or... well, maybe not. Meanwhile, she had to hope that none of her students were in the grip of teenage rebellion for the sake of rebellion and would now find the challenge of sneaking the potion past her irresistible. Hopefully, they were more mature than that... hopefully. At least she'd be able to smell it on them if they did try anything.
spaceThe Hufflepuff gestured to the board."Instructions are on the board, and in your textbooks, supplies can be found in the cupboard. If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask, either myself or one of your classmates. When brewed correctly, the potion should have a mother-of-pearl sheen, with steam rising in a distinctive spiral, and give off a scent that is a combination of scents you personally find attractive or pleasing. Chocolate, rainfall, a certain someone's cologne, any scent that exceptionally pleasing to you. It will smell different to every person, so don't worry if your perception is different than that of your neighbor; that means you did it right."Ada had considered for all of a second sharing what the potion smelled like to her as examples, but figured it'd be best not. First of all, she'd have to lie, because ever since being turned, it'd taken on a distinct trace of blood, which was understandable but still somewhat odd. Second of all, she had a feeling saying 'my husband' would probably be TMI for some of the students.

As you all know, obviously this is Seventh Year Potions, your final year of study before you take your NEWT exams. This year will be focused on reviewing information from previous years to ensure that you are ready for your exams. This week we'll be focusing on lessons taught in years One and Two."She paused a moment, glancing over her shoulder to check and ensure the information on the board was correct. She wasn't as familiar with it, given that she didn't teach years one through three."For review, we will be having an open discussion about the lessons taught, as well as brewing one potion from the curriculum list, without use of the textbook to help guide you. Feel free to ask questions if you need to, either of myself or your classmates. At the end of class, bottle a sample of your potion, and give it to me with your name and house."The blonde had to admit, she was a little wary of this particular lesson; asking people to brew potions without instruction could always lead to any number of catastrophes. But, these were NEWT level students, after all. When she'd been in her seventh year, she could have brewed any of the potions listed on the board blindfolded. She had to assume her students were at least capable of doing so without their books.
