It wasn't exactly often that Ygraine had a chance to leave Zena; her parents almost refused to leave each other's company, and her big brother was such a baby that he refused to leave Zena under any circumstances. It had felt like forever since they took a trip, but finally her papa decided it was time to get out from the ice and cold of Zena, and take a tour around Sauti.
Sauti was just... weird. It was fun to travel there, because it was just so different from home -much warmer, by comparison, even if they had to rely on the food papa packed. By the time they finally found a place to stay, a week into their trip, Ygraine was sick of eating fish and jerky, and was ready for a good meal!
Ushered inside the inn, her papa took one quick look around and motioned towards a small table in the corner, smiling at her. Once she started in that direction, he turned to look for the innkeeper - at which time Ygraine veered away from the table, and instead toddled off in the opposite direction, standing on her toes to try and see if there were any performers. It was always her favorite part of coming to these inns... the bards, the performers, the interesting people she saw here! And there was no way her dad was going to make her sit where she couldn't see it!

Iriyana came cartwheeling into the main room of the Inn. She had gotten away from her father, who was trying to style her curls and make them manageable, so that she could play. It wasn't until she saw someone new that she stopped what she was doing. The man stood out, that was for sure. Riya thought about going over to him but something else caught her attention. Another kid! "Yes!" The ice girl shouted. She had someone else to play with now!
While she loved her brother to pieces, and Li was fun too, she was glad to see that there was someone else around. Iriyana quickly made her way over to the girl and hopped up to her side. "You're colorful. Are you from around here? Are you mixed like Kani? He's ice and wind. You don't look like him though. What are you?" The questions spilled out of her mouth one after another and there was no filter. She said what came to her mind without even thinking but at least her tone was honest curiosity.

Ygraine was interested in performers and tricks, but that didn't mean she didn't perk up in relief at seeing another kid! She didn't expect an iceling here though - not since she came from Zena! They were in Sauti, but here was an ice kid!
Anddd then they opened their big, fat mouth. Instantly, the grin disappeared, and by the time the curly-haired iceling had finished her barrage of questions, Ygraine had wrinkled her nose, squaring her feet defiantly. Did this girl hear how rude she sounded?! It took everything in her not to reach out and just yank her stupid curls -- but instead, she released a huff, and looked at her, hard. "Hmph! You can't say things like that- it's ... it's rude!"

When the girl said she wasn't allowed to say those thing Riya gave her a confused look. "I can't say that your colorful? But you are and it's pretty. I've never seen those colors before." Iriyana lifted her shoulders slightly and turned on her heel to walk away. "Fine then. Be a butt." She called her brother a butt all the time, though usually in the wrong context. The little ice baby had gotten the word off her father and hadn't stopped using it since. Something of which she figured her mother didn't like.
"First girl I meet and she's a butt. Ugh. No wonder girls are icky." Riya mumbled to herself, though anyone could really hear her. She sounded like one of the boys. Likely rub off from hanging around with her father and brother. Possibly even from Li and Guyri. One never knew. Ether way, it didn't seem like this little one was all that girly.

Ygraine opened her mouth to reply, but... to that she didn't know what to say. She'd been told before that she didn't ever have to tell anyone her bloodline but... how did you deal with it if it was a compliment? Flushing and suddenly feeling embarrassed, Ygraine watched the girl speed away, biting her lip.
Normally, the proud girl wouldn't be running after anyone, but this was the only other kid here (that she'd seen so far), and it wasn't likely they'd run into eachother again... right? So, Ygraine stomped after her, reaching to grab the retreating girl's hand to stop her, unaware of her own invasion of the other girl's space. "Hey! Don't call me a butt, you butt!" She shot back, only to inhale sharply. Then, dropping the hand, she stepped back and gnawed on her lip, before finally grinding out her words. "I'm sorry. Okay? You don't have to leave." The last part she murmured.
Usually her parents made her apologize to Sol, and usually she didn't mean it. But this time she really wanted to keep talking to the other kid ... she'd never met a kid from Sauti before. Even if this was an ice kid, like all the other kids she'd ever played with. "I'm from Zena - is that where you're from too?"

When her hand was grabbed Iriyana turned her head quickly to look at the girl. It wasn't something she liked, just being grabbed like that; unless it was Hulis. Thankfully the girl let go almost as quickly and yelled at her. Riya just stared at her for a moment. "You yelled at me first, so you are a butt and I wasn't leaving. I was going to go play." Even though she would have to leave Ygraine in order to do so without her.
At being asked where she was from she crossed her arms over her chest. "I thought saying things like that was rude?" Clearly she was being mean on purpose now. Iriyana then rolled her eyes and sighed as she dropped her arms to her side. "No, okay. My brother and I were born right here." Her left hand came up to motion to the Inn they were currently in. "So was Li." The girl shrugged her shoulders.
"Is that guy your dad?" She pointed toward the male that she had come in with. Riya was curious.

The girl frowned, unhappy with having her words turned back on her. But her own desire to play, or at least to talk with someone other than her papa or brother, won over her own pride. This time. When the girl finally answered though, Ygraine's eyes widened, before she looked around the inn, thinking. She'd never really considered that people lived in inns... she thought they were just for trips!
Her own frustrations forgotten, Ygraine looked back at the girl, narrowing them thoughtfully. It had never occurred to her that ice kids were born in places outside of Zena! "Mmhmm. That's my papa - my baba is back home with my brother." Stupid Sol... he was so scared of traveling! She would have liked to take a trip with her other dad, but he had to stay home with Sol.
"You can live at an inn? Do you get to travel all the time?" She asked, scooting closer so she could stand, almost conspiratorially, with the other girl.

A delicate brow arched upward a little. "What's a baba? Do you mean Mama?" Riya had never heard the term before so it confused her.
With Ygraine getting closer to her Iriyana had to lean back. The girl was getting a little too close for someone that just met her. Then the questions came. Riya gave the mixed girl an odd look before nodding her head slowly. "Yeeessss..." Her answer came out slow as well. "An Inn does have rooms to stay in." Had this girl been living in a snow cave before she came down to Sauti? "Uh.. no? My brother and I haven't really been away from the Inn. Mama says she wants to wait til we're strong enough to make the trip to Zena." Her shoulders lifted slightly. In her opinion her parents were waiting til they were ready to go back because Riya and her brother were perfectly fine.

Well, a lot of kids seemed to have papas and mamas back in Zena too. By now Ygraine had gotten used to questions like that, but that didn't stop her from shaking her head, adamantly, and answering with a know it all tone, as if somehow Iriyana was supposed to have known such a simple thing. "No, no. I have papa and baba - two daddies." When Ygraine took a step back, it was more for her own comfort than Iriyana's, dropping her hands to tug at the hem of the thick skirt she wore, a proud smile rising on her face.
"Really? 'Cause my daddy takes me with him when we travel. He said he's even gonna take me to Tale soon." Of course, now she was bragging, but considering she had complained of her feet aching the entire trip, and of being hungry and tired, it was a wonder she found it something worthy of bragging of now.
Of course, it didn't occur to her that her tone or bragging would make the other girl not like her - the very idea that people wouldn't be able to stand her was impossible for her to imagine. "Don't you ever just wanna explore? Like ... caves, or climb trees?"

Two dads. Huh. Iriyana didn't think that was too odd now that she knew. After all, her mom had two moms. But then Ygraine started to brag about her travels both past and future. Riya rolled her eyes slightly but lifted a shoulder. "My mother is protective." Besides, she had someone to play with at the Inn so she was fine with it.. for now.
As she was asked whether or not she wanted to explore she nodded her head. "Of course I do. I'm just not allowed." That was one thing she disliked. Everyone always said 'Oh, you'll get hurt' or 'You're too young.' Both things bothered her. "There is a cave out by the river here.. I haven't gotten to go inside yet." Oh, but she would one day.

...Well, it wasn't that her dads weren't protective too. But... that had never stopped her or Sol. Sol was a big whiny baby, but he at least was good to explore with! "Why don't you just do it?" Ygraine asked, wrinkling her nose. Sure, she'd gotten in trouble with her parents. But her grandparents were scarier than papa was, by a long shot, and the worst that happened was they were kept inside for a while.
Although, she wondered if Iriyana was even able to leave the inn. Was she locked inside? It was a big place to play, but the more she thought about it the more convinced Ygraine was that they should escape and go outside to play. "Come on! Let's do it, right now!"

Why didn't she just do what she wanted? Iriyana thought of her parents, mainly her mother, and instantly knew why she didn't. Her father was easy going, though he did worry an awful lot. Her mother on the other hand.. well there was this look and a whistle. Those two things alone let her or her brother know they were in trouble. Heck, even her mothers familiars knew those.
Then Ygraine had the crazy idea to just.. go. Riya thought about it a little. She could. After all she'd have someone else with her. "Alright, but don't get yourself hurt. Last thing I want is for my moma to blame me for that." It was bad enough she was going to go outside without Polaris or one of the other adults. Yep, Riya would be grounded after this. But it would be worth it if there was something neat in the cave.
