Bestla was on the prowl. At the moment, she wasn't entirely sure what or who for. Just that she wanted to be out and doing magical girl s**t. Strapping the ankle weights she'd brought along on, the buff senshi figured at least she could get a proper workout in while she wandered.
Once the weights were secured, Bestla grinned and raced across the rooftops of Destiny City, senses ever alert for the sign of another powered aura.

Sailor Kari found that she didn’t really like to power up much. In fact, she really didn’t like to power up much at all, especially after her last two encounters with people who were on the other side of this war. But of course, as it normally did, one of her table top games had made her see that heroes weren’t supposed to hide from their duty…so she came out again…against her better judgment, of course.
The senshi had brought a ball of yarn with her and was working on crocheting herself a rather elegant scarf, sitting up in a tree as she did so, not really paying much attention to the order aura she felt coming near…so long as it wasn’t chaos…that’s what mattered in the long run, right? Right.
Her hands moved quickly, wrapping the yarn and pulling the stitches. The yarn was so pretty, with bits of sparkles woven into it. She was going to look rocking with the scarf…when it was finished, of course.
For now though, she just leaned against the trunk and kept going.

As she jogged, a powered aura brushed against her senses. And since it didn't feel chaotic, Bestla decided to be nosy. Following the feeling, Bestla soon happened upon what she assumed was a senshi sitting in a tree. And... knitting?
Brow wrinkling in a slight frown, she slowed down and approached quietly, watching the other girl carefully. After a moment, she decided that silence wouldn't do either of them any good.
"Hey! Whatcha making?"
It was the closest to an ice-breaker that Bestla could think of, even if it made her seem a bit of a twit.

Oh s**t. The last thing Bestla had wanted was to scare someone into falling out of a tree! Hovering nervously as the other girl picked herself up and dusted off, Bestla fought off the urge to offer apology hugs.
"I am so sorry! I thought you'd realized I was there! I'm Bestla, by the way."
Eyeing the proto-scarf, she winced as a few stitches came out and nodded agreeably to Kari's plan.
"Least I can do since it's my fault it's up in the tree," she said, carefully taking the scarf and making sure to not do anything that would result in more undone stitches. "This is nice yarn. I like the sparkles."
She paused, keeping an eye on Kari, ready to leap forward and catch her just in case the girl came tumbling down again.

“It’s nice to meet you!” Kari’s voice was enthusiastic, and she shimmied up the tree quite quickly, grabbing her yarnball and coming right back down, sighing in relief now that her scarf wouldn’t become even more undone. “It wasn’t your fault that it was in the tree, I should have been paying more attention. I got so caught up in my work and just tuned everything out. I was ready for someone from the other side, but I don’t know, you don’t feel bad so I guess I just ignored your feeling.”
The senshi grinned and took the scarf back from Bestla, putting a stitch holder onto where she had last made her stitch and sighed. When she looked back up she grinned. “So…yeah! I love this yearn too, it was a little pricey but I know it’s going to look amazing when I’m all done with it…even though summer’s coming back up. I guess I should have done this back a few months ago…but school was destroying my life.” Bestla. That was a really pretty name, and the girl was really pretty as well.
“You have such a lovely outfit…what are you the senshi of?”

Slightly bemused by the other girl's chattering, Bestla nodded in sympathy. She well understood time constraints and clothing deadlines.
"Well, you can always use it this coming winter," she consoled. Then, grinning a bit, she added, "And school destroys all the lives. Just ask any typical teen."
Watching with interest as Kari fiddled with her proto-scarf, Bestla allowed herself to relax now that girl and yarn were safely on the ground.
"Well thanks," she replied to Kari's word with a bit of a chuckle as she twirled in place. "I didn't have much say in it, but it's not as bugshit as some outfits I've seen, so I can't really complain. And fairy fire. I basically make stuff glow. You?"Orangeish Sherbert I am the absolute worst, please forgive me ;;

“I’m the senshi of loyalty…I uh…” Kari paused, trying to think of what her magic even did. “I’m not…I don’t really know what I do. I don’t make things glow though, that’s something I have to say that I’m jealous of! I do something, it got one girl off of me so I’m happy about that at the very least…”
Why couldn’t she make people glow? That would be so cool and so…
Well. Glowing. And Fairy fire? What was fairy fire anyway? It sounded so pretty and magical…and loyalty sounded so…abstract and plain. Oh well. “So…what brings you out tonight? Just wondering? I wonder a lot. I guess sometimes I still don’t really see what the point is? But it was such a nice night and I don’t know…Yeah, I am sure I’ll use the scarf this winter, it’ll be really nice. I still have a few more I have to make some people…like the cat that uh…gave me all of this. I promised I’d make him one, and there’s another senshi too, a guy I met.”
Kari glanced around and finally shrugged, grinning almost apologetically. “I like making things.”

Loyalty? Bestla raised an eyebrow at that, but listened closely as Kari tried to explain her own magic.
"I may be wrong," she began slowly. "But if your magic got someone off of you, it might've made them feel loyal to you personally so they couldn't keep attacking. Sounds dead useful to me."
Voice trailing off, she was hard-pressed to keep from bursting into laughter as Kari rambled on. She was tempted for half a breath to reach out and put a gentle hand over the other girl's mouth, but thought that might not go over so well. So, instead, she nodded in appropriate places and waited for a topic she could join in on.
And then, like a gift from the gods, she was handed a subject that she could wax poetic on.
"What sort of things? Well, I mean, okay. Obviously scarves, but what else?" she asked, smiling brightly. "I sew my own clothes mostly and do a lot of cosplay stuff. I even work with tin and pewter, though I'd love to find someone with an actual forge willing to teach me a few tricks."

“Well, I mean I guess…but…” She paused. “Oh, I can make socks, and I’ve made a sweater once, it was pretty cute, but it was so time consuming. And blankets. I love to crochet blankets. Scarves are my favorites though…oh, a forge? That sounds really cool! And different, and exciting.” She knew of cosplay, of course but it hadn’t really ever been something she had tried to get into.
“You cosplay? What do you like to cosplay? I think it would be fun, but I’m not very good at staying in character for something, and what I keep reading on the internet it’s starting to become one of the best ways to get hurt feelings, or something. I don’t know.” The senshi shrugged. “If you want, I could make you something, a hat or scarf, or gloves, even. I’m not trying to brag but I think I’m pretty good at what I do.”

Looking impressed, Bestla chuckled and reached out to give the other girl a friendly slap on the shoulder.
"Well, you're already one better than me. I couldn't make a sock to save my life. Those damn heels..."
Then, with a cocky grin, she gave a nod and began to tick names off on her fingers.
"I absolutely do, and I'll cosplay just about anyone I think is interesting. I've done a couple from Mass Effect, pokemon trainer, hell, I've done a few pokemon gijinka too. Been working on a couple of Steven Universe one of late. But most of the work for those are gonna be in the wigs. So much hair!"
Pausing, she eyed Kari curiously, as if quite literally sizing her up. Then, smile widening, she gave a little nod as if pleased by her own thoughts.
"It's a lot of fun and you don't have to worry about staying in character the whole time. Mostly just photo ops and if you enter the contests. So only a few minutes at a time. And as for the internet," Bestla let out a decidely unladylike snort. "The people gettin' all butthurt are the ones who're sore because they can't go ******** the girls cosplaying Vampira or harass them at a con. Buncha neckbeards! Any good cosplayer'll tell you the same thing I am. You play who you want, have fun and the hell with the haters!"
Sucking in a breath, she looked like she was ready to personally go and curbstomp the people she'd just described when she shook herself and sighed.
"You're allowed braggin'. And I'd love a scarf! Does this glittery stuff come in any other colors? I'll buy the yarn. Hell, I'll even barter a favor and help you with a cosplay. I'll give you a crash course and we can tear it up at the next con. What'd'ya say?"

Kari’s eyes widened as Bestla went on a rant of her own, talking about things that she had heard of before, but really didn’t have that much of an idea of what they all really were…but she seemed like she wanted Kari to know, so that was exciting in and of itself. “Yeah okay! I’ll make you a scarf, the glitter does come in different colors, don’t worry about getting the yarn, it’s my pleasure…and sure! I don’t know much about much but I’d like to try! And it seems like it might really be fun to dress up, so thank you!”
She felt flustered and excited and couldn’t stop grinning. Someone wanted to hang out with her and that was pretty cool…something to do other than study and work on things and…
And she was going to cosplay! She would have to figure out what was going to happen, and she would clearly have to research whatever it was she was going to be wearing but still…
“Should…do you want my phone number? Or should we just meet somewhere, oh Bestla, I’m really excited, thank you!”

Eyes gleaming as she considered possibilities, Bestla grinned and only through an enormous act of will kept herself from bear-hugging Kari into a pulp.
"Don't worry about not knowing much, I'll walk you through everything if you want. Do you have any fabric or makeup allergies? Be a hell of a thing if I ended up doing something that got you sick."
It was obvious that the other girl's reaction had touched and pleased her enormously. Though the mention of numbers brought her back to earth with a slight thump.
"I guess that would be a good idea. Fortunately, I got that one partially covered," she said as she pulled out her senshi phone and held it up to scan Kari. Once her phone showed the other in the contacts, she grinned. Then, with thumbs tapping speedily, sent a goofball text.
The owl croaks at midnight. My name is Daisy Grace and I will be your costumer. Roger, roger, wilco and ready, steady, aim.

“No, I don’t think I have any allergies, and I mean…if I do, I’ll deal with it when the time comes, but if nothing’s got me in the past nineteen years, I don’t think it will start now!”
Kari pulled her own senshi phone out and laughed when it showed her the text that her new friend had just sent. Well. This had been an interestingly productive night…falling out of trees and meeting new people and agreeing to cosplay…but she wasn’t complaining.
She held her phone up and scanned the other senshi in, shooting back a text of her own.
I’m Gale Perkins…and that’s about it. Good to meet you Daisy Grace.
Now if she had only been more witty, that text could have been a lot better…but she figured it would have to do.
“So. Let me know when you want to get started and we’ll get started. Um…let me know what you want to do and I’ll start watching or playing whatever thing it is too. I can do research. I have the technology. It was really good to meet you. I like making new friends.”

"Well, you never know with body paint," Bestla said musingly. Still girl had a point. She glanced down at her phone as the text came in and grinned. Unlike most of her patrols, this one had actually been productive!
"Well, I figure we can start early spring. Con season doesn't usually start till about February or March, it seems. Already got a couple of ideas," she paused and reached out to ruffle Kari's hair and chuckle. "Y'don't have to worry about research just yet, girl. Besides, for what I'm thinking of, I'll need a study buddy anyway. So why not do it together?"
Still smiling, she threw the other senshi a lazy salute and wink.
"Good to meet you too, new friend. I'll be in touch and I will be buying the yarn for that scarf you mentioned. No arguments."
Flashing Kari a brilliant grin, Bestla chose that moment to sprint away, leaving behind an echo of friendly laughter. There was nothing like getting the last word in after all. Orangeish Sherbert We can call this a wrap! I am so sorry for being so slow. ;;;;;;
