This is the Official Vileclaw Thread for Meta One.

The scant lakes and rivers in the North have overflowed, causing waters to rise and floods to drown the areas nearby. Your Vileclaw must join with others of their kind, helping one-another to safety as portions of territories are lost.

After time, the waters will recede, but as of right now, the damage is enormous: herds of game have fled, seeking higher ground, pups were lost in the great floods, and numerous wolves have been cut off from their Packs and friends. A few Vileclaw who were too slow have even been caught in the roaring, raging rapids, thrown about by the rough undercurrents due to the terrain's rocky nature.

You may use NPC wolves [ Vileclaw you create specifically for this Meta ] so that no one's OC has to die if you wish there to be a death in a Pack or of a friend or comrade.

Your wolves must come together here in order to seek higher ground, search out new food sources, and there should be an air of panic in the beginning as water is driving off prey and trapping fellow Vileclaw.

PostPosted: Wed May 11, 2016 6:42 pm

Prompts will be updated roughly from every seven to ten days, as the lands change and waters recede, showing the destruction they have caused.

UPDATE:: All Vileclaw who are able have been told to make for Mount Khezid as quickly as they can, to reunite with separated Packmates and to come together as a whole. However, you do not have to go. It's your decision.
As the entire North has changed, the journey will be strenuous and long, but the Vileclaw were asked to put aside their disputes and work together, helping those in need. The Great Flood isn't the worst of what will happen, and they must make haste.

PROMPT ONE::

xxxxxxx You have been separated from your friends or your Pack, and are either trying to outrun the flood, being thrown about by the waters, or searching for stranded Vileclaw.

xxxxxxx You may use the death of an NPC [ wolf created only for this Meta ] if you so choose. While there won't be a massive loss of life, surely some Varsythe won't make it: the unattended young, the old, or those who weren't warned in time.

xxxxxxx As the waters swell over banks, where do you find yourself? Trapped, isolated, being tossed around by the current, watching the game flee in fright to the south, or looking on as one of your allies is swallowed whole by the merciless flood?

xxxxxxx Engagement is encourages: if someone posts that their Vileclaw is trapped, you can offer to help them, or turn away and look out for yourself. But perhaps another player was a friend of theirs, and scorns you for leaving them. Or is a Pup you've been looking after half-dead from the waters, and you're shouting for the help of a Shaman or Herald, hoping beyond hope that they can save them? Be creative, and go with the flow of the RP!

xxxxxxx If you meet up with a Vileclaw you take a liking to, and wish to continue the RP separately, you may use the PRIVATE META RP THREAD to do so -- while not required, it's encouraged that you have more than two members for these, as teamwork will be absolutely essential in the coming days.

xxxxxxx If you choose to begin a Private RP for the Meta, please either continue in the Group Meta OR make an In-Character post as to why your wolf is leaving. This way, people won't be waiting on your replies.

xxxxxxx Please make an attempt at using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as the first portion of the Meta is an extremely dire circumstance.

Splatterpaws childish games had drawn to a close when those dreams had come. A great beast made of water had haunted her dreams, and somehow she knew they came from someone. The great Omega must have sent warning.

She'd left her pack behind. It didn't matter if they believed her, she would not stay to let that monstrous brute take her from her games. The water would not have her. And, as she looked down from a knoll as water swelled across the deadened lands, she gave a sneer at it. She had left ahead of its waves. It didn't matter if her pack had; they wouldn't listen to her, so they must not matter. She had been right, after all.

The Omega had spoken, and even if they had not listened, she would. She snorted, glancing sidelong as she watched a family of hares run for the southlands, scoffing at them. She stared for a moment, then grinned and pounced at them, scattering the group, and managing a meal in the process. her eye shifted at the rise of waters within sight, and she scoffed, picking up her quandry, so that she could eat it when she'd gotten a bit further ahead of the waters. She had been warned, she had been fed, and now she would lose sense to neither.

×x T A L O N Sx×xx scrabbled frantically at the ledge of the crag along the edge of the river to the north of The Rift. DREZNIR had been lucky; he'd heard the dull, pounding roar of the waters swelling rapidly, and was able to leap and extend his wings for extra lift. But he'd barely been able to dig his claws into the granite before he felt the river rise, current dragging on his back paws. With a snarl of effort, the Alpha's shoulders flexed, wings pressed tight against his flanks as he levered himself all the way up onto the ledge, sides heaving.

What in the Omega's name is going on? Warily, afraid of what his turquoise eyes would see, the large male turned around, flicking his glance down to the rapid, turbulent water rushing impossibly fast beneath him, rising hungrily to gorge upon the banks of the normally-placid river. Normally, Drez wasn't the type to feel fear, but this...This is insane. Not ten minutes ago, he'd had his nose in the cool, gentle waters, searching for an unlucky fish. Next thing he knew...A rumbling, a cracking as the scant few trees lining the shores were uprooted entirely. One hurtled downriver, looking more like a speeding blur than a log. For the first time in a long while, the male's slitted eyes were wide -- not with anger, or surprise, but dread, fear. Something like this wasn't natural.

"If I can wing up to higher ground, maybe I can see what in the Blasted Void is even going on aroun--" His muttering was cut off by an abrupt yelp, followed by a scream of pure, unadulterated terror. The Alpha's heart leaped to his throat, and without thinking he lunged with powerful hindquarters. His skeletal wings snapped open with an audible snnk and Dreznir pushed off of the ground, jumping off of the ledge towards the river twenty meters down. He used the momentum of the fall, twisting his joints to catch the currents of wind above the waters, fighting a headwind for a few seconds before leveling out. Sounded like it came from up-stream, but who would even be out here at this time of night?

It was two hours from dawn, but regardless of the time, there were always Viles prowling out and around, searching for whatever meager scraps they could find in the Wastelands north of the Rift. The Alpha winged his way upstream, keen eyes flicking back and forth, up and down as he searched the frothing river beneath him. "If you can hear me, I'm coming!" The male raised his voice, but Drez knew he likely wouldn't be heard over the roaring of the waters, so he Projected hard with his mind the words, hoping whoever it was, his mental prowess could break through to them. "Try to find something to grab onto!"

Normally, Drez wouldn't give two shits about another Vile -- unless they were Riftclaw, of course -- but in a disaster like this, a side the borderline-sociopath rose that the male didn't quite care for. Eyes narrowed behind his mask as he saw a small herd of eight emaciated elk several miles off galloping flat-out across the Wastelands, racing south with everything their malnourished bodies had. Well, s**t. That...can't be good. The Alpha clenched his jaw and returned his gaze to the river, knowing it would be hard to make our a Varsythe from all the debris and muck rushing past. After a half-mile, Dreznir heard another scared cry, and the Alpha pumped his wings: once, twice, thrice! Taking him around the natural bend in the gully. His wingtips nearly scraped along the sides of the rock walls, but he was a machine of precision: a twitch of a membrane, a shift of his weight, and he navigated the curves easily.

"Howl, dammit! I'm getting close but I cannot find you! Howl, blast you!" Again, he projected, praying to the Omega that the unfortunate soul would hear him.

[ [ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏғ ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ: ] ]
Someone who's in trouble can jump in, be trying to help the trapped Vile, or we can make an NPC stranded in the river. ♥
NOTICE:: I'll try to post before my flight tomorrow, but I have a lot to do. Regardless, I should be able to make the 24h limit. If not though, skip me and I'll jump in next round.

She had been stalking not to far from the rivers but the floods had come out of nowhere. This had caused a serious problem for her as she was now clinging to a fallen tree that was half submerged in the rushing waters. Her claws dug into the bark as best as she could and she pulled herself onto it and looked around. There wasn't much she could do to get away from her current position, if she tried to swim she'd be rushed downstream and likely into some rocks. Needless to say, dying wasn't something she wanted to do tonight.

How had she not seen any of this coming? She was kicking herself about not having noticed something was amiss sooner. A grow escaped her lips in frustration as she peered around. She had no pack, no friends and no family. Though she had met a very interesting Alpha male not too long ago when she was a young cub. He had helped her out a great deal. She supposed he was a friend of sorts.

With a deep sigh she knew that she was going to have to call for help. There wasn't much else she could do but hope someone would hear her over the roaring rivers. Taking in a deep breath she lifted her head and howled into the night. She was sure there were others that were just as stuck as she, but perhaps in a better situation. One that they could get out of easily enough. She had time to wait so if help did come she could hold out longer if there were others nearby that were in trouble. She was strong, but even that wouldn't keep her alive forever.

Kalliope's ears lay flat against her skull as her paws dug into the wet ground and she ran as fast as she could. Her chest heaved and tightened painfully, but the sound of rushing water behind her urged her on further to higher ground. She'd been separated from the rest of her pack in the rush somehow, she had no idea where Dreznir was, and while the chance to really get all the dust and dirt of her pelt seemed appealing, being swept away in the rushing waters of the flood did not sound like a good idea. No sirree.

Luckily, the cleaning of the pelt was more than likely to happen, but the sleek black and lilac wolf hoped it would be her choosing on the execution of the bath. She scanned the layout of the land in front of her, and seeing a small, in relation to Mount Khezid in the distance, mountain to the north, she quickly veered off to her left and let forth a new burst of energy fuel her paws.

She could almost feel the water lapping at her paws as she scrambled on the rocks at the base and she leapt up with as much strength as she could quickly gather in her haunches, and barely scrambled onto the ledge. She didn't pause, still not feeling safe, and continued her climb, praying to the Omega that she wouldn't hit a loose rock and be sent down into the rising waters.

Her paws landed on sharp rocks, cutting into her already blistered pads and a whine escaped her throat as she continued to scrabble until she finally crested high enough that she felt comfortable to look down and see. The waters seemed to be at their highest so she stayed on her ledge, backing up against the rest of the mountain and curling her tail around her aching body.

Kalliope's breaths came in hard pants and she closed her eyes, focusing on her breathing to try and maybe breath a little easier and softer so that the pain stabbing in her ribs would stop. A twinge her in left paw caused her to yelp as she set it down and picked it back up, turning so she could see the angry bleeding crack. With a whimper she set to cleaning the cut and trying to stop the bleeding.

Splatter's head raised, ears standing at alert while her tail hung over the ground behind her, anticipation rang in her ears, being slowly drowned out by the crash of water flooding the realm behind her. A howl for help? She narrowed her eyes, looking skyward, a flash of teal caught her eyes as it sped by, and she stared after the imposing figure.

~Howl, Damnit!~

She stared after the tail as it vanished around the bend. Her eyes narrowed again, as she pondered her options, before she rolled her eyes and turned to follow after him. This whole thing was un-fun... If she wasn't able to pelt someone with something soon...

But, she'd think of that, later. For now, she picked her way around the floodwaters carefully, keeping a tight hold on her take-out, in the hopes she might be able to help someone, if they needed it. She stopped, though, when the sizeable figure flew into the gorge, and she felt the chill water lapping at her paws. She wouldn't be any help if she drowned, and the water was still rising.

The feel of the water at her paws sent her stepping back on her perch, and she shook her head, turning back the way she'd come to start back towards whatever safety she could find. When she found her path cut off by the floodwaters eating away at her perches; boulders and trees and small hills upon which they sat, she glanced around for a greater boon, and her eyes fell hungrily on a small mountain.

~Tall enough to hide upon, small enough to watch the carnage, and a few ledges to have a meal at... perfect.~

She smiled, trotting through the shallows between her and it, and began her climb, eager to outrun the rising waters, but possessing of the kind of calm that hadn't seen the underside of the froth, just yet. She stopped a little ways up and turned to peer over the rivers; a longer view than she'd had since this all started. Her ear twitched at a whimper above, and she narrowed her eyes at it, giving a muffled bark to let the owner know they weren't alone. She wasn't going to drop the rabbit, not when food was about to be so scarce.

Nekros had been moving along the border between vileclaw and vurfang territories gathering plants when the waters rose. Quick and merciless with a great force. He had quickly moved to the sky. Wings beating the air as he looks around. The suddenness of this unnerves him. This doesn't seem natural.. Not at all. He moves back towards the wastes. The water quickly moving beneath him. Animals and prey flee the lands. Tree's sway and fall with the mass of the water.

Red eyes searching for signs of those in need of help.. Those of his pack. Unlike him and Dreznir. The others don't have wings.. They are at a serious disadvantage. Moving towards higher land he figures that it is a safe bet that some would have made their way to such places. If he could find someone.. anyone and a spot that remains out of the water... someplace to help bring any wolves to.. Then perhaps he can save them.

Pushing forward he moves to circle around one of the small mountains. Eyes searching for life. Where the hell is Dreznir? Where are the others? At this point it is all about survival.. Riftclaw.. Vileclaw... It doesn't matter if they are in the pack or not at this time.. He must help those he can. It's as simple as that.

Derya loved the water more than his fellow kin. He would spend much of his time down near the river as possible to get away from his old pack before he abandoned it to find a better one to spend his time in. A female Omega followed him out of the pack when he had left. It was this wolf that he was now thinking about when the flood waters came rushing in and seperated them. He had barely enough strength to keep his head above water as he got swept downstream. He tried to yell out his friend's name but either she couldn't hear him or she had been killed when the flood came.

After a few hours of trying to keep afloat, he finally found some traction to shove himself away from the center of the swollen river and he tried to dog-paddle to shore until he hit a massive rock. Derya curled his legs around the top of the rock and let loose a long howl in hopes that someone, anyone, would hear him.

Gajeel in his infinite wisdom lived on an island, sensitive to the sea, his skin crawled and he leaped from a rock onto a low hanging branch of a large tree to weather out the initial wave. He liked water but not when it became all unreasonable like this. When it was safe he scurried down and headed for the coast..it would mean a swim in a very stupid time but he needed to talk to others, who knew maybe he would find some pack members out there. He paused at the breach, sifting the sand between his toes.

He leaped into it, there was no time to hmm and haw about this stuff now, he had decided he was going and so he went. It was a rough go, not his brightest moment but desperate times called for desperate measures and all that. He reached the other side with a little energy to spare he used it to shake and find a half descent place to rest for a while before forging on. He regretted now not living with the vurfang he had friends there, well one and one friend here. Oh well. He set off looking for the others at a fast but maintainable pace.

Edit: adding more as I have more time now.

After a ways of running he paused panting lightly and put his nose into the wind, there was someone out there, he could smell them, now it was just a matter of pinpointing their exact location. He gazed over the field, red eyes peeled for other vileclaw, as his mind wandered back to the alpha he had met not too long ago. Would he see them again? There would be no reason really for a Vurfang to be this far into Vileclaw territory but a guy could hope right? There had been something special with that other guy. Gajeel was most interested in what they may have cooked up together. He wanted his own pack so bad his teeth hurt from the longing. He thought his gums might start bleeding soon. He stomped a foot, imitating an angry elk, where was everyone? Weird things were going on and he had no one to talk to as per normal darn it.

Alte - Old b*****d of the Ocean
╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Deep in the churning darkness, something was rising, stirring. It came as if like an heart beat, soft at first but gradually pulsed louder. Something was calling and it took the rise of the waters the almost unnatural swell that pushed those from the watery depths to the surface, almost like it was forgotten but someone pulsed louder calling them out, calling. Deep pools of gold peered through the waters, awoken by the heartbeat of the ocean's rise, forces body to rise. Sediment and sand cracked under the pressure from both a forgotten figure and the rush of water before it was free.

A sneer broke upon it's lips, shaking stray sand from upon it as it looked up from the depths seabed towards where the water was pulling.

Bubbles forming at it's throat seeming to chuckle darkly, bubbles pulled from it's lips, there was a tantalizing scent on the current. Blood. The great heartbeat of water to which brings life also drowns it. Chokes the air from them, what was once breathing and gasping to pull themselves from the waters tide, breathing in water and slowly sinking fading bubbles of life back to the surface. It was a perfect time for those water locked to hunt, looks around at oneself testing what has rested at the bottom for what felt like an eternity. Sweeps of a powerful tail cut through the water before it would follow the waters rise to a place where the drowned feast was located.

It was a long swim, but as the waters began to recede with the tide it lowered in some places bringing a murky ocean green shark fin to part the surface of the water, soon followed by the top of the tail fin. Dragging watery resistance as it moved, there was no saving was was already drowned and any hapless meal was a gift to the age gone swimmer. As it moved, some things was starting to become... remembered in flagrant memories, bubbles of images of what had been. Snarling fiercely at these memories, before just settling on the one thing that was still true to now.. a name. Alte.

×x T H U N D E Rx×xx roared in the Alpha's ears as he sped above the raging, boiling waters, heart racing as he frantically searched for the one who had howled. His sides heaved from his exhilaration, from the strong pounding of his wings and his muscles strained, knowing a single dip or a stray twitch of a wing could send him careening into the side of the gulch and tumbling into the rapids below. Wings weren't made for water.

Dreznir barely had time for thought, so intent was he on finding the stranded Vileclaw. His slitted pupils dilated, taking in more light, expanding his peripheral vision. Any advantage, he needed right now. The wind screamed at him as he sliced through it, speeding over the canyon-turned-river. If anyone gets swept into the current... Drez clenched his jaw. The canyon was a small northern section of the Rift, and he was absolutely certain that already water was tumbling over the edge, flung into the seemingly-bottomless scar. They'll be thrown over the falls, there's no way to escape the current's strength, its speed.

In a way, the Alpha was awed by the power of the catastrophe; never before had he seen water act like this. Sure, he'd been to the coast, had even stood on the cliffs above the sea to the west during a storm, the squall's winds buffeting him on all sides, slinging salt-water and rain alike into his eyes, onto his fur, across his wings. How insignificant I felt then. And now? The male resisted the involuntary urge to shake his head, knowing it could disrupt his aerodynamic balance. Now I feel positively pointless. A feral grin split Dreznir's lips beneath his mask, the irony amusing. Perhaps after the initial panic dissipates, we'll have a new Wasteland revealed to us. Plentiful water, fat game, no just barely scraping b--

His thoughts were interrupted as he spotted organic movement, barely noticeable, a small flicker off to his left. Hoo boy. This would be tight. The Alpha snapped his right wing tight against his ribs, banking hard and almost skimming the canyon wall with the talon of his left wing. Shoulders and back straining, Dreznir extended his wing, tipping almost completely sideways in the air. We should make it, we can make it... He felt the walls pressing in on him, the water growling and roaring not fifty feet below him. Turquoise eyes narrowed as the wolf twisted his hips sharply, momentum spinning him entirely upside down as he pulled his extended wing closed.

And then he plummeted. The sound of the water faded, the air fell silent, all noise abruptly ceased. Dreznir's eyes closed as he felt the wing tugging at his fur, sending his hair whipping around his face. His heart slowed, his breathing deepened. This was a timeless moment, an eternal inhalation of the universe. The Alpha felt everything; the small pinpricks of life, the lamentations of every death, no matter how small. He breathed in, nostrils flaring. Wet rock. Chaos. A storm brewing. Power. Terror. A new beginning after the end. Folly and triumph, a Rising of the Lost Pac-

The world crashed into existence around him. The tumultuous waters frothed in abhorrence not three feet below him, the claws of gravity yanking him down, down, towards the hungry, slavering waves. With an audible snnaaannkkkk his wings burst open, extending to their full span in less than a heartbeat, the wind cradling him as he glided a few feet above the rapids, dipping a hind paw into the water to slow his exceptional speed. He saw the female now, straight ahead, clinging for all she was worth to a soggy, broken tree. Dreznir's sharp eyesight caught how her claws kept slipping against the wet grain of the bark, losing purchase against the slick wood. The Alpha saw the fear in the female's eyes as she met his eerie gaze, and Dreznir instantly recognized her. The stray pup from the crags.

A low growl fell from Dreznir's lips, lilting and angry that his lands, his territory, his home had been torn asunder, cast adrift and thrown into chaos and terror by the ever-rising and raging waters. He relaxed his haunches and mantled his wings to slow his incoming landing, paws dipping beneath the surface of the water. The female Alpha -- Daiyu? -- was hunkered low on the tree. Its roots were strong, finding the cracks within the gulch's sheer stone walls and finding purchase. It won't be uprooted for some time yet. Not much time, however; Drez watched as it bobbed and swayed in the angry, conflicting currents. Perhaps half a day if the strength of the water remains like this. Maybe less. Whatever the case, he had time to figure a way to get her to safety.

"Sit back on your haunches, dig your claws in, and sway with the movement of the tree, Daiyu." His words were short, clipped, but his smooth voice was easily heard over the water crashing against the gully's sides. Dreznir felt a stroke of fear course through him at not knowing where his Pack were, if they were even alive. He wanted to close his eyes and mentally reach out, yearned to repel his thoughts with his Reverberation skill, to ease his worries, to dispel the dread twisting his gut. But he didn't, not yet. His Riftclaws were strong, each in their own way, and would find a way through this disaster until he found them. Slit pupils flicked back towards the female as Dreznir's momentum from his fall eased, allowing him to gracefully back-wing and land with his hind paws on the strongest part of the tree, where it met the cliff face. His claws clicked audibly against the wood as he lowered his weight, all four feet on the tree and wings pressed tightly to his flanks.

"Alright." No time for pleasantries or demanding submission right now, despite his instincts to do so now that the female was grown. His tone was brisk, though cool and collected: he had a job to do, a mission, and he would succeed or be swept away. The male's head tipped upwards, eerily glowing eyes flicking from cliff to cliff, outcrop to overhang. "I hope you haven't been here for too long, cuz we've got a bit of a climb." He glanced at the grey female. "I can aid you, give you a place to leap when the gaps between outcrops are too far. I can hover near the cliff wall, and you're only half my weight, so you can stand on my back between my wings, though only for a few seconds each time." Despite his impressive wingspan, his anatomy was designed to grip dead weight in claws and teeth, pumping his wings to lift it into the air.

Weight on top of him was a different story, and he could only hold her steady for a moment or two before he would be thrown off balance. "But you're going to be terrified, and you're going to think you cannot take another step." For the first time, Dreznir faced her, meeting and holding her gaze far past a comfortable point. "Falter, and you die. You must jump from ledge to branch, from overhang to me, then back onto the footholds on the cliff face. Do not hesitate. Keep your eyes on where you wish to land. If you miss, I will do my best to catch you. But do not stop going up." That was a rather long-winded speak for Drez, but the Alpha was firmly in control of the situation. He could get her to the top of the canyon, but what the terrain would be like when they got there...I've a feeling the whole of the land is flooded, not just the lowest ground.

"Come. Your first jump is short, to the ledge on the left. Go now." With nothing else, the Night Angel pushed off of the tree, making it bounce wildly on purpose to force the female to leap in the event fear clutched her heart. He opened his wings and pumped them hard, rising to just under the outcrop he indicated in case Daiyu misjudged the distance. Slowly, the two rose, Daiyu arcing from foothold to foothold to Dreznir's back, then to solid stone or wood once more. It was an arduous climb, and the male's shoulders burned from the constant flapping; he was used to gliding, letting the currents hold him aloft. But here there were crosswinds, trying to throw him off-course or dash him against the hard stone. By the time the two were near the top of the gully, both were panting, tongues lolling from the exertion of their ascent.

Finally, drained and shaking, Daiyu crested the top, forelegs flat on the ground with claws scrabbling for purchase. Dreznir hovered beneath her and pushed downwards with his wings, putting everything he had into the motion. His shoulder pressed against the female's hindquarters, shoving her up over the rest of the way. He heard her hit the ground, and with a snarling, defiant roar, the Alpha slammed his hind talons into the stone of the cliff, pushing up as he thrust his wings down, giving him the extra lift he needed to leap the last six feet. Normally graceful at landing, the Night Angel hadn't the strength. Instead, Drez tucked his wings against his ribs, hunched his back and pressed his muzzle to his chest, curling his legs against his stomach. He slammed into the ground, tumbling in a tangle of wings and limbs and cursing to a stop. Dreznir growled low in his throat and lay there on his side for a moment, chest heaving rapidly. Slowly, the Alpha pulled himself to his feet, slitted eyes glancing at Daiyu rising gingerly from the ground.

There. Now, where are my Riftclaws? Drez filled his lungs, chest expanding as far as it could as he tipped his head back, jaws opening. He let out an ear-ringing howl, loud and long and lilting, though there was no yearning, no longing or lament to it. It echoed across the planes and angles of the Wastelands, riding the currents and speeding across the lands. Its cadence held rage, was filled with a trembling need for vengeance, for reprisal against the world that did this to them. The Night Angel focused a mental javelin, making it sharp and sleek and flung it out into the North, a headache throbbing behind his eerie eyes as his ability flared to life. :: VILECLAWS! Wolves of the harsh North, Thieves of Life and Heralds of Blood! ::

His ears rang with a high sharp keen, taxing his skill more than he ever had before. This was not a single sending to his Pack, but to all Varsythe in these hard landscapes. :: If you live, if you are lost, if you are trapped or terrified, enraged or hungry or fearing for your friends and family! Raise your head to the skies and howl, mourn for the loss of life and our land! Howl with rage and with fear, with strength and weakness, and we will find you! :: Dreznir swayed where he stood, legs threatening to buckle beneath him. He could not see his surroundings, couldn't hear, couldn't think. All he had was focused on his mental call. :: If you need help, howl high and trembling! If you wish to offer aid, howl steady and long! If you seek your Pack, howl low and lamenting, for you know their voices and shall hear their sorrow in being torn from you! :: The Alpha fell to the ground, shaking violently as a trickle of blood slipped from his ears. :: We all must make for Mount Khezid! Put aside your fights for food, for territory, and live, Viles! Find your Packmates and gather the company of those who are lost, and meet at the Great Mountain! For we are Spirits of the North, and we will not let the harshness of our land defeat us! ::

The Night Angel could feel unconsciousness clawing at him, but he had to find his Pack. With the last of his feeble strength, the Alpha strained his ears, knowing that each would answer his seemingly-impossible howl from before he Reverberated his words. He felt a warm wetness trickle down his fur, and his hearing was dampened, muffled as if he had snow stuck in them. But he clung to his need, head spinning, body shaking, sagging as he lay on the hard, cold stone. "Answer..me." His voice was rough, gravelly, hoarse. He despised himself for the foreign emotions tumbling through him, making the world tilt around his barely-open eyes. Dreznir had never before felt this weak, this helpless, not even when left for dead by his former Pack. His usual aloofness was gone, his apathy had been cut down, and pure, unadulterated terror thrummed through him. For the first time in his life, the Alpha had something to lose, and that was more terrifying than any threat he had ever faced.

As the black, sharp claws of unconsciousness dragged him down, the Alpha heard a faint cry, long and sad, just barely audible. The male took a breath, and let it out, his lips curving into a tight, small smile as another voice joined in, closer. And then one more, the three twisting and winding together, weaving a song for Dreznir, the beat of hearts and wings, of past betrayals and new bonds forged. The hymn of Riftclaw danced around him, and he keened softly, unable to answer their howl as he sank down into the darkness.
