It was almost beautiful, in a heartbreaking way. After Sunny had taken her body, it had been left in the backyard behind Eve's house. It was beautifully ornate. The glass caught the rays of the sun, giving it an almost opalescent glint. The roses inside varied in color, from the softest pinks to the richest, near-black reds of blood. All in all, it was a stunning sight.

And there, in the coffin's center, was Autumn.

The bouquet she held in her hands was as white as snow. Delicate, beautiful roses beyond compare. And while she wore no makeup, the resting Autumn looked simply beautiful. Lips parted, only showing the slightest sign of breathing. Unstirrable if simply approached.

Whatever had dug its claws into her still clearly had some effect. Autumn, to the untrained eye, was dead.

Eve went out to the duplex's tiny backyard in the early morning, after another empty session of fitful sleep that left her hazy-headed and frustrated. She was already in a state that couldn't tell for certain whether she was awake or in another dream -- she had those, where her routines were so burned into her being that they would revisit her in her sleep, sometimes soothing and sometimes unsettling. As such, the new addition to the yard was met with only a small measure of surprise and confusion. Something about it was off, but not unacceptable. It was approached with the same concern-edging-on-curiosity that she'd navigated the other strange development in her life.

Seeing the quiescent Autumn in there was still a shock.

Sadly, at Eve's approach, she did not stir. Autumn remained motionless, only the rise and fall of her chest belaying any signs of life. It was so... Snow White. So picturesque.

So sad.

"Autumn?"

Eve touched the girl's shoulder, brushed at her hair, with a shaky and uncertain hand.

"Sweetie, don't you want to wake up?"

She did not stir. Even asleep, Autumn was prone to responding to touch- rolling over to cuddle up to something warm. But she remained impassive. Perfect in her coffin of glass.

Eve didn't have to be fully awake to begin to realize something was wrong here. Autumn was such an animated person even at her most tired -- in a way that sometimes reminded her of Leila, honestly -- that seeing her so still and placid, even while asleep, was unsettling. She was slowly starting to think that this was less of a fatigue-induced dream and more of a legitimate medical emergency. Poor girl was going to need the hospital again, and that was heartbreaking considering she had just barely gotten out.

"Stay right there, okay? I'm going to go get you some help," she said, more for her own sake than for the girl's. Before moving inside to get her phone, she carefully leaned in and gave Autumn a soft, loving peck on the forehead.

When the lips contacted her forehead, Autumn's eyes fluttered open. She blinked a few times, trying to get back into her own body. It was finally, finally hers again. She was alive. And... somehow, in her mind, Autumn new. All of her friends had come to save her, but her waking up from the endless dream had been--

"Mom," she said quietly, not even stopping herself from the relational term. Eve had more than earned it. She was, for all intents and purpose, her real mom. So what if they had no blood between them? They were family. It was the realest thing she had in her life.

"I-- True Love's Kiss. You saved me." She set down the roses, and sat up, ignoring the wooziness in her head. It was just being back in her own body again for the first time.

"I'm- Oh my god. Oh my god, I'm so happy to see you."

"Aw, sweetie..." Eve stretched her arms forward, gathering Autumn into a hug. Being called mom so freely was meaningful to her in ways that she couldn't even begin to express, so she let the touch convey the message instead, a hand reaching up to smooth her hair. "It's lovely to see you too. It always is."
