The hunt for a job, a place to live, hell everything at this moment had been a huge failure. Really it was a wonder she managed to get up in the morning. Though now that she thought about it even that was a stretch. She was always tired, which happened to be why she was sitting on her favorite park bench now. She knew she should have been hunting for jobs more. If her mother saw her sprawled out on the bench she would get a good scolding for sure. But sleep. She enjoyed it so much. It was also a chance to escape her mother for a time being, something she would jump at the chance to have. It really had solidified her determination to stay where she was. She thought she'd spotted a flash of pink walk by as she settled into the perfect napping position, and even made a small attempt to wave if said pink form was a random passerby. If it was someone who had lived in Ashdown all their life they would've known who she was, and if not well at least they wouldn't tell her mother where she was. xchiickadee ILU it is done yaaaay. Also I really am the worst at rp titles. -_-

Chel was just walking with an earbud in one ear and the other dangling around her neck. She had cliche bubblegum in her mouth and was noisily popping bubbles as she walked.
A girl on a bench waved at her and Chel stopped. She pointed to herself in a "who me?" kind of way.

Mel saw the blur of pink stop, groaning as she sat up to greet the stranger. After all, it was rude to simply ignore them after she had been the one to wave at them in the first place. She hadn't really expected whoever it was to stop, but oh well. No harm done. "Just to be friendly," she yawned, glancing over Chel with sleepy eyes. "You're not from here, yeah? You moved in to see all the weird things that happen here too?"

Chel tilted her head. "Weird s**t?" Her arms were crossed, a tad offended. "I lived here since I was like 12. What weird s**t's goin' on?"
Wrong guess, Mel.

Mel sat up from her position on the bench, taking her time with her response. There'd been a lot of weird stuff from what she could tell. The missing people was the biggest one. There'd been another one here recently too. Just weird things.
"The missing people? Weird rumors. The usual. A lot of new people coming to town too."

"Missing people an' rumors just missin' peoples and rumors ain't it?" Chel was struck as somewhat of a non-believer.
A thought crossed her mind, a certain cop peeking into an idea. "What other kinda stuff you heard?"
At this point Chel crossed the difference to the other girl and joined her on the bench.

"Just random things. Been in Ashdown my whole life, so there's really not too much I haven't heard." Born and raised and never left the place. She was going to be stuck there forever at this rate. She didn't really live the most exciting life. She was interested to know why the other woman was so curious about the rumors though. She had assumed everyone had heard them, especially if she'd lived there so long. Maybe she just didn't care that much about them.
"So miss, what sort of stuff are you wanting to hear?"

Perfect- Chel's favorite kind of people. The ones who knew all the little hidey holes that made for excellent afternoon adventures.
"Well the first thing I wanna hear is what a pretty girl like you's doin' out here when you should definitely be with some rich a** ********>." Chel was nothing if not charming.
"Charming."

Well she hadn't expected that sort of response.
"Well I uh-" she blushed, fiddling with one of her suspender straps. She was too broke, too in debt. There were plenty of responses to the question, but should she be spilling all this to a stranger? Well hell, why not. She was a mess of a human anyway. Most people already knew her sob story.
"Have no job. No apartment now. Landlord jumped at the chance to kick me out once the neighbor kid decided to set the building on fire. Stuck with the woman who gave birth to me. That whole big sob story crap."

"Well s**t," was Chel's response. That was certainly a lot to unload all at once. She had a lot of questions about it (building on fire? Neighbor kid? The ********?) but Chel deciphered two more important things: homeless and shitty mom.
Two things she could relate to.
"You wanna stay at my place?"

"Why would you invite a stranger to stay in your home? That's not very safe now is it?" Mel smiled, debating on asking some questions of her own. The girl didn't really seem to be a bad person so she doubted she was trying to lure her into anything. Still, she couldn't just invade her home when she didn't know her.
"What's your name?"

Well that was certainly good logic. Chel had a habit of caring first, questioning later. "s**t I guess you're right. Stranger danger and s**t right?"
She kicked her boots back and sank further into the bench. Nothing to do but get to know her. "Name's Chel."

"I'm Amelia, Mel, that unemployed girl in debt, whatever you want to call me. I'll generally respond. It's nice to meet you, Chel." She settled back down herself, staring up at the sky for a moment.
"This is the best bench to nap on, you know? Usually has the nicest shade. Really quiet too."

She gave the girl a squint. "Ain't it kinda dumb t'introduce yerself as broke and unemployed?" Now it was Chel's turn for logic.
She did add with a snort, "Our name's rhyme. Mel an' Chel."

"It's common knowledge really. Can't hold a job very long. I get bored too easily and end up daydreaming on the job like a real winner." Mel chuckled at Chel's statement. Their names really were very similar. Coulde easily be misheard too.
