Dezani hadn't thought about just how long their trek through Sauti would be. They'd been going for days now, with no real settlement in sight. That was the only unfortunate thing about the nomadic winds. Not many true inns or anything else they could stop by. After Araie's fall he was still worried about her and the injury she had obtained. Really he blamed himself for not reacting faster for it, but the only way he knew how to make up for it was to make sure she didn't lack anything. Which is why they were stopped now. They needed to get some food and water, and the only way they were going to do that was to set camp and catch something. Supplies were running low and they were running out of options.
"How are you holding up?" he questioned, coming to a stop by her side.

Araie shrugged her good shoulder, being careful not to disturb the arm that was still in a sling. The healer had said the injury could last several weeks and that she needed to do her best to not disturb it during that time. She could do simple stretches, but she wasn't allowed to push it to where she was in any pain whatsoever. Hence the sling keeping her from doing anything crazy with it.
"I'm okay. Irritated at myself for getting hurt and a little stir crazy since it's really restricted my movement, but it doesn't hurt near as bad anymore. Did we want to stop and make camp soon? I can probably use my magic to get us some water if you and Raiha wanted to go out and find us some food," Araie offered. Sauti was a lot bigger than she had thought it was and she was starting to miss seeing some signs of civilization. She really hoped that there was a village or something close by or only a few days away. Sleeping on the ground hadn't exactly done wonders for her poor shoulder. If only she had watched herself more carefully in that blasted cave!

"No using your magic. Just rest. Raiha and I will find some food and water no problem, huh girl," he smiled, patting the kinfa before turning back to the ice woman. He really did hate seeing her out of commission, especially when she was always so active and ready to do things. There would be no adventuring for her though, not after what the healer had said. He would make sure of that one way or another. Araie could definitely be stubborn, and he wanted to keep her from hurting herself more than she already had.
"How about you just sit and relax? That way you don't irritate your shoulder."

"I'm not entirely useless," Araie grumbled more to herself than Dezani as she sat down with a small huff. She wasn't even mad at Dezani for his words. She was still mad at herself and she was sure she was going to be until she healed, however long it took. She hated feeling like she was just slowing him down and not helping in any form or fashion. "Don't worry about me. I won't get into any trouble just sitting here," The Ice girl said as she started to draw a shape in the sand. She may not be able to help gather supplies, but she could at least put up a few basic protections around the camp in case anything wild came up and tried to attack them.

"I'm sorry, Araie. I didn't mean to make you feel like you couldn't do anything," Dezani apologized, kneeling beside her and making sure to touch her good shoulder. The whole situation was hard on both of them, but what was done was done. They couldn't rewind anything and fix it all. They just needed to work with it and do whatever they could to keep traveling even with the minor set back. It was too late for them to really turn back now after they'd gone through everything trying to get this far. He could really only hope that her shoulder would heal fast so that she didn't feel worthless and they could get moving at their normal pace. Until that happened though he refused to push her too hard.

Araie shook her head and forced herself to smile when she looked back at Dezani. She wasn't trying to be such a grouch. Not really. She was sore and in pain, but she shouldn't let that affect her behavior. After all, she really had done it to herself. She wasn't going to be a jerk, especially to Dezani. He had done everything he could to make her feel better about the whole situation and he didn't deserve her ire.
"No, no. It's fine. You go out and find supplies. I can at least set up a bit of camp here. I won't push myself, so don't worry about that. I'll take it slow, but at least I won't feel like I'm doing nothing. Sound like a good plan?" Araie offered, trying to keep her voice light. Even if she was injured, she had to look at the bright side of things. She was still out seeing new things and she was with Dezani. All things considered, things weren't too bad.

"I mean, if you promise not to try to do anything you could always come with me too. I don't want you all by yourself either," he sighed, moving to sit beside her and lean his head on her good shoulder. He was frustrated with himself and didn't know what to do about it. He wanted her to be by his side while he wandered off, but also didn't want her to get even more hurt. Everything was just far more stressful than it needed to be. Perhaps if he had been a healer instead none of this would be an issue. But here it was, and it wasn't getting better. He thought about suggesting they turn back, maybe wait until she was healed and start again. Though if he did that she may get even more frustrated or blame herself for the cause of it.
"I just don't know what to do. This is all very unfortunate," he grumbled, watching as Raiha nuzzled up to her as well.

"Dezani," Araie sighed as she leaned over to kiss his cheek, "It's okay, really. I'm just being a bit of a brat because I hurt and I'm upset at myself for getting hurt. It's okay. I promise. Besides, someone should be here to watch out for the few supplies we do have, and I don't need my shoulder to use my runes. Don't worry about it, alright?" She knew that Dezani was just as upset by the whole situation, if not even more than she was. But she was determined to see this as a not bad thing, no matter how much she had to spin it.

"If you say so," he sighed, scrambling back up to his feet and making sure Raiha was ready to go on their hunt. He was still concerned, but she was right of course. Someone needed to look after their supplies, and it wouldn't be him since he had two functioning arms. If Araie said she could protect their things with one arm he would just have to believe her. If he didn't nothing was going to get accomplished.
"I'll be back as fast as I can. I'll grab something small and hopefully locating water will be fairly easy. Would you rather I leave Raiha here with you and go out on my own?"

She leaned over to pat Raiha gently before answering Dezani. "Take her with you. I'm sure she wants to go with you anyway and she'll be bored out of her mind just sitting around with me," Araie laughed quietly. Using her good arm, she dug through her pack until she located her small, scuffed journal. It was the one she had kept all her drawings in the past few years, but she was afraid she had neglected it recently. Now seemed like a good time to doodle something, even if she only had one arm to do it with. Maybe when Dezani got back, she would show him some of the stuff she had done. He had seemed interested before when they had been talking about it in the cave.

What seemed like hours to Dezani was really only minutes as he wandered out pass their camp, searching for anything they could for food. Raiha was having better luck than he was, but it was probably because she didn't have to worry about leaving anyone behind. He hated not having Araie by his side even if it was safer for her to be at camp. Luckily with Raiha there to make sure he was doing what he needed to he managed to find some food. Not much, but something was better than nothing.
"What do you think girl? Time to head back?" he sighed, carrying back the beast he'd obtained, hoping Araie hadn't gotten herself into any trouble.

Araie was so engrossed in her doodles that she didn't hear Dezani and Raiha coming back at all. She had turned to face the setting sun, sketching out the plains in front of her. She didn't have any tools to color with her, so she was instead shading in the scene with her charcoal, imaging what it would have looked like in brilliant golds and oranges. Ah well. Maybe she would recreate the piece later on. When Dezani sat down next to her, Araie jumped in surprise and practically threw her journal at him.
"Aaaaah! Don't scare a girl like that! Make some noise or something the next time you come back!" Araie scolded, her cheeks red with embarrassment. Well that would teach her to pay better attention to her surroundings. It was a good thing he hadn't been a beast or something trying to attack her. She would have been in a bad situation then.

"Oh I'm sorry!" he panicked, looking her over to see if she was okay. He honestly hadn't thought he was being that quiet, what with Raiha squawking at him as he brought the food back to camp. Perhaps she had just been so engrossed in what she was doing that she forgot to pay attention. If so then that wasn't exactly the safest thing she could have done. Really he didn't know how she had survived being off on her own. Perhaps she hadn't really traveled much by herself, and if she had....well he truly worried for her. He apologized again before grabbing her journal, glancing at it before handing it back to her.
"Here, sorry again. Really. I didn't mean to surprise you."

"S-sorry. I was just really engrossed in this drawing. I shouldn't have thrown it at you," Araie giggled as she took the book back from him and put it back in her lap. She quickly closed to page, now somewhat embarrassed at the idea of showing Dezani any of her drawings. She didn't know why though. She had been so excited at the prospect before. It looked like Raiha and him had brought back a fairly decent haul of supplies though, and she couldn't be more grateful.
"Thanks for bringing back the stuff. I tried to set out bedrolls and such, but there was only so much I could do with one arm," the Iceling explained as she motioned to the haphazardly arranged camp. She just needed to tough it out for a few more weeks. Then she would be back up and fully healed. At least she hoped so. She didn't want to even consider the possibility of her injury being more permanent.

"You did a fantastic job. Thank you for your help. I'm very sorry I couldn't make it back to you faster," he smiled, hoping praising her would lift her spirits some. He knew she was down about everything, and worried that leaving her alone for too long would not help her situation at all. He just wanted to be there for her all the time and help her out with whatever it was she needed.
"You think I got enough supplies? We tried to hunt for as much as we could, but I feel like it's still not enough."
