Spring Ball Opens: May 1st Closes: May 31st, 11:59 PM EST
The Spring Ball is an event held every year in Above by the Fey, Dryad, and Kirin. This year, the students/residents in Below have put together a ball to introduce the new friends to the tradition! It's customary for ball-goers to wear corsages with different flowers indicating what they are looking for, as this is a popular time for young Fey, Dryad, and Kirin to find partners!
The Ball will have two Prom Regents elected at the end - two Juniors and two Seniors! Freshlings are allowed to attend the Ball but they are not eligible to win Prom Regent.
How to play:
Every day you are allowed to roll for each of your Nightmares/Daydreams to receive a prize! You also can end up with a familiar, if you're lucky. However, you must RP your character receiving their prize, or doing something in the festival when you roll. It's suggested that while you can roll for every Nightmare you have, you only roll for the amount of responses you can handle! You can keep rolls in one post, or in individual posts. Roll a 20-sided die per Nightmare you're including in the ORP! If you roll an even number, you may grab a trinket! If you roll a number ending in 3, 6, or 9 you may grab a plushie instead. If you roll a number ending in 5 (or roll a 20) you may grab a familiar instead! (Rolling an odd number that is not listed here results in no trinkets, plushies, or familiars.) At the end of the Ball, the two Juniors and Seniors with the most points will be crowned as Prom Regent! [This means there will be 4 winners total, 2 Juniors and 2 Seniors] Please specify if your points are going for a Junior or a Senior when you tally them. If you are rolling for both, make sure your points are tallied separately! Important: You are allowed to claim 1 roll per day for up to 2 juniors and 2 seniors. So if you have 2 Juniors, each Junior can claim their roll for that day as points added to their tally. This means you can have up to 4 NMs/DDs earning points. Only count their rolls. Once you have decided who is running for Prom Regent, you cannot change candidates without resetting your points to zero. You must label in your posts how many points you have. If you don't you will not be counted for the grand prize. Do not delete posts. You may RP quests! If you lack a Nightmare/Daydream you are allowed to RP an approved quest within this game! If you have more then one quest, you are permitted three quests to play in this game. You are encouraged to create creative situations of your character receiving a prize! Characters may trade prizes without losing points! Only take one prize per each roll! As in, if you won a plushie or familiar, you are not permitted to take a trinket!

thian
He didn't know how he kept ending up at these things, these awful gatherings where he was expected to smile and make nice. Actually, he did know, but that didn't make him feel any better.
Thian turned to look back at Amory, frowning at the smug little smile on her face as he took her hand.
- - - amory
Amory didn't care how upset the demon appeared. Clearly he was capable of saying no, considering he did so to everyone else, but he had always persisted in making himself miserable on her behalf, so she continued to provide him reason to do so. She hated these spectacles as well, but she loved how they looked while attending them—Thian in his royal purple pencil skirt and billowing pirate top, and she in her dark flocked leggings and vest—and she liked learning about the races of Above that the Academy positively teemed with these days. She remembered being new. Special.
The chimera paused, drawing Thian nearer to whisper in his ear. "What would you like to do first?"

Kyra gazed at the above in awe, she had never been above ground before, she wanted to take pictures of the above so she could later frame them up in her room, she took a glace at every scenic view as she raised her camera and began to take pictures of the light reflecting over the Harrison. as she slithered threw the grass she felt the urge to bathe in the sunlight, she stood there for a while as she could feel the warmth come threw her scales.she soon began to head out to the area in witch the spring prom would be held but stayed out near the entrance for a while longer so she could take pictures.

After taking pictures for a while she saw there was a small picture contest, she entered in one of her pictures in to it and won a locket. she put it around her neck so she wouldn't louse it, this was the first thing she had ever revised/won in her life.

Kuchena eagerly made her way into the hall that was hosting the event. The music was everywhere and she was just all too ready to make her way out with her "date," Rica. It wasn't that hard to drag her roommate to the dance, but hey! This was a chance to get out of the dorm and to get the stink blown off of them, "Come on, Rica. Liven up!" She quickly snagged up some plushies from a game, though it was a close call on a few of the pitches. “We’ve got the whole night. Don’t start out a grumpy goblin.”

Rica grumbled as she held the plush close. She didn't quite enjoy being out and about like everyone else did, nor did she appreciate going to a dance. She never liked making a show of herself and being in the flashy dress that her roommate had picked out was, well, embarrassing. Heck, even having her hair down from her pigtails was odd. "Yes, liven up. Just that easy to do that." She mumbled under her breath, but kept ahold of the plush that Kuchena had won her. Maybe she could at least get something nice as a memory. Something to send to her mother as well.

Kuchena (Junior): 13 points Rica (Junior): 13 points

Azriel watched the older nightmares and day dreams arrive in pairs or even on there own, some even arrived in groups. He was curious as he had arrived alone so he could try his hands at the games and contest, he wanted to win some gifts for his best friends and his adoptive family, he was existed as there were so many cute plushies, trinkets and even Familiars. he thought about what he wanted to do first as he ran off to play among the other young freshlings. as time had passed he found a booth to learn to make some jewelry as he sat down and began to make some too , he wasn't so good at it but he hoped he could get better at it as time passed but he had no luck as he went to see if anyone he knew was there to play with.

zinnia wandered about seeing the kidden making a mess of the flower display it made her a little sad that they were being destroyed but, it also made her giggle to see some were frantically trying to get them under control. she decided to help and try to corral the Familiar in to an area were they could not get in to the flower decor or even end up eating corsages off the other students. she began to try and help the staff of the schools to gather up the ones she could get her hands on. some were still escaping but she managed to gather some.
After attempting to help she was given orange bell ribbon necklace as a thank you for trying to help keep them under control. she gratefully accepted the gift and tied it to her wrist. it was much brighter then her Burgundy gown but she loved the cute bow. zinnia points [senior]: 14

Azure had arrived early at the ball, he had been seeing a special someone for a while but they were unable to come to the ball with him, so as he wondered and explored just to play some games he came across a few ring toss games with small adorable trinkets, he ended up setting his eye on a blue and pink ring that he thought would be a perfect fit to the girl he had interest in, so he began to play the game, he lost a few times but was determined to get this ring just for her. as time passed he succeeded in winning the ring. he new it would be important later so he could gift it to her the next time they meet up.

He fidgeted in front of the mirror for the umpteenth time, adjusting this or that on his suit. He had to admit, he looked good. Not quite something he'd choose to wear again, and it had an overall sense of playing dress up with a real adult's clothes, but his reflection was a sharp one. It didn't help the nerves though. He hadn't actually expected T'kani to say yes to the invite, not really. I mean yea, they were seeing each other and all that, but this was... a leap. A risk. He clicked his claws with a flick in agitation at his reflection, not liking the churning feeling in the pit of his stomach over this. Things would be fine. And if not... oh well. Right? Right. It's not like they had said 'I love you' to each other or any of that nonsense. What did he have to lose besides face and his dignity?
Noe sighed as his shoulders slumped, making the mirror image look much more like a child in someone else's suit. He rubbed his face for a moment and took a deep breath. It was just a dance. And if he dallied any longer, he'd be late picking her up at her dorm door. Bad form. Dismissing his reflection, he went through a mental checklist of everything, making sure to grab the bouquet he'd picked up for her before heading out the door and locking it behind him.

T'kani added the last touches to her hair, then let it go to flow freely behind her, making sure her ruff was clean and as fluffy as she could make it. Honestly, half of the prep she had to do was hair and fur, that boy better appreciate all the work she did. Her makeup didn't take quite as long, and soon she was similarly standing in front of a mirror fussing over her dress. She checked for at least the 5th time that the sash was tied tightly behind her, and that the dress was in no danger of slipping off of her hips. She would never live that down if she were accidentally exposed. The strap around the back of her neck would hold everything up if something else failed, but the dress was well-made and she really looked forward to wearing it again if things went well.
For the last touch, she carefully tied the ribbon and bell around her arm, over the detached sleeve. Quite a feat to do so with only one hand, especially with claws. Once everything was set, she went back to fussing over the little details, both excited and nervous to see his reaction. Would he like it? Would he be put off by it? Would he think she was toying with him again? She had been surprised when he asked her to the Ball, not sure if he was even interested before that moment.
Well, hopefully once he saw her he would know how she felt about things.

Aubin wasn't sold on this whole 'dancing' thing, but everyone in the school seemed to be bustling about and most were in a good mood, which counted for something right? Thinking about kissing someone was still a rather icky concept to him though, and dressing up was even worse. Thankfully there were other things to entertain. It was also the celebration of Spring, and that meant a lot of social events. One was a 'meet the familiar' event, which included something of a tide pool of sorts, made out of air currents it seemed. You could walk into a clear tube that blew air around and aetherjellies danced about. He couldn't help but giggle while standing there, hair ruffled by the breeze as colored jellies wafted past. After his turn was over, there was an adoption booth and he decided to take one of the dark ones home. He think he liked them best, and they were just so cool. No one had bothered to ask her to prom, and she was horribly envious of all the beautiful dresses and shows of courtship everywhere. She tried not to bitter. Honestly. But it was just so hard to see everyone else enjoying themselves and there was just... none for her. Scowling was so unbecoming, but she couldn't help the persistent frown everywhere she went either. Sighing to herself, she raided one of the stands offering candy, taking one of the massive fluffs of candyfloss. Surely it would've been too big for her by herself, if she wasn't in such a foul mood. Right now sugar seemed a good bandaid over the wound though, and she scuttled back to her dorm to eat the entire thing away from all the lovey dovey couples and decorations. Ky took a deep breath, holding the air for a moment before letting go slowly. So. Today was the day. Crowds. Loud noises. Way too many freaking people. Truthfully they half hoped that Tengu would like the idea of leaving the dance after a little while. Ky definitely wanted to do something together, but a huge, crowded room just didn't seem like fun to them. Though... at least one slow dance would be nice. If Teng wanted to anyway. After all the effort of making sure the forms were in so that he could come back to the Academy for the dance, they might as well go and enjoy it as much as they could. Maybe walking around the campus would be better, it would be quieter and it was a nice night out. Huh, an idea to bring up at any rate. Ky shrugged and went about finishing the details on their outfit, tucking in the buttoned shirt and all that. Come to think of it, they'd never seen Tengu dress up before, and now Ky was horribly curious. Looking at the clock, they twitched their wings, not too much longer now. Yushika Yushi! I actually rolled once more for Ky I think, so I'll write up Ky leaving to go meet Tengu... somewhere. xD Unless you think Tengu would actually swing by Ky's dorm to come get them. I almost feel like if they -do- dance, they'd do it out in the hallway and not on the main dance floor. Away from most people but still able to hear the music. Was an idea.

Ayuu wasn't one to attend events like this by zemself, but zer usual companion, Bo, needed to stay in his room and study. Two classes. The geist was currently failing two classes, and if he didn't buckle down and get some work done, he was sure to be held back. Bo had urged zem to go out and have fun in the interim, and Ayuu was certainly giving that a try.
It was difficult.
Ze felt as though ze hadn't made any progress at all these past months, like ze was still that timid new kid, afraid to speak to anyone in case they were overbearing or mean. The grimm sighed, flexing zer claws. Ze wasn't that Nightmare anymore. Ze would prove it, if only to zemself. Ayuu squared zer shoulders and approached the refreshments, tail tucked close to zer body.

Ellis was pretty sure that his father would have preferred he stay nearby, seeing as how they were both here by themselves, but it was rare that the imp wasn't studying these days and he wanted some time alone when he wasn't sitting by Howard's side, running math problems or sociological test cases. Although he was loath to admit it, his father was also on his very short s**t list. It was easier to walk away than fake a smile.
The last time Ellis had attended a celebration like this he had been much younger, reliant on Amory to a degree he was embarrassed of today, no matter how much her firm hand had kept him grounded. He had a tendency to strike out in ways he probably shouldn't have when he was by himself, which was why he made for the candy almost immediately.

Janine wasn't too sure if she was excited or horrified that she was talked into coming to the formal. Sure, it could be fun and the vendors/games were nearly endless, but she was still more of the type to lounge about in her hoodie and shorts. Formal wear was not her style in any way. But she would suck it up and maybe find someone to buddy up with. At least, that was the hope. Right now, it wasn’t looking too hopeful, at least, there weren’t many people arriving early. Was this one of those events where you should be fashionably late?

Citali looked around the hall, feeling a bit nervous about this. She hadn't really gone to any other events since that failed attempt with the Hunter's Jubilee. Yet, now as a senior, she felt she should at least attempt going to some of the school functions. She would regret it otherwise if she graduated and never went. There were so many gorgeous flowers though, and she couldn't help but smile. I wonder if Rae will be here, or if he's going to skip the event. the Goblin wondered to herself as she wove around others, looking at the various trinkets and oohing over the cute familiars.Citali[Senior]: 1

Reign, a little naga freshling, made their way to the ball with a look of interest. Although they wouldn't be able to try to be elected as part of the court, it was still fun to watch the festivities. Plus, there was always trinkets. They were eager to see what sort of fun there was to be had.
Not far behind the naga came a dryad freshling. Aurum peered about excitedly, a beam of a smile on her face. Balls were so much fun! There was dancing and prizes and even familiars available. How cool was that? She was looking forward to spending time at the ball, and even more eager to see what she could take home with her when the party was done.

Zalir had not been planning to attend the ball, but then news had come about that there would be the usual variety of games that accompanied an event. It may have been themed around dating, but this was a festival like any other. Slowly, zey wandered over to the festival and looked around. It was packed with people--as always. And glimmering among the decorations, aetherjellies swam back and forth. Zalir hesitated--zey really shouldn't get more jellies, zey barely had enough room as it was...and yet...there were pretty blue-black ones, and the white ones intrigued zem just a little. Well...maybe zey would catch one. Or two.
Zey walked over first to a dart game. At the last festival, Zalir had played darts with a cute Imp boy named Anchriesel. Zey didn't see Chries here today, which was a pity. Just the thought of him made zem blush. Zalir picked up a dart, aimed carefully, and threw. Zeir aim was true, and a balloon popped. The game keeper picked up the card and gave zem a smile. "You've won an aetherjelly!" they said.
Zalir blinked. It was almost too good to be true! Zey reached out to receive the jelly offered to zem and looked at it. It was one of those intriguing white ones, and when it turned, zey could see... a face on it?! It had spots and a stripe on its bell that looked like a smiley face. Zalir giggled and bowed to the game keeper. "Thank you. It's lovely! May I play again?"
