Korra had intended on trying to find a way home sooner than later. But sooner continued to be the next day, she felt guilty leaving the nice elderly woman who had taken her in and given her work to help pay of lodging and food. Though the woman had told her she didn't have to pay her back she still was working hard at her little food establishment. Helping tend to patrons by serving them drinks or food. Her hair was getting longer and she was forced to tie it back, new clothes were given to her for while she was working and she felt like she was getting a handle on the rushes that would occur time to time.

Not that she noticed but she was well liked by the locals, she was friendly and hard working despite the fact everyone quickly discovered her ability to get lost when asked to go on errands. Everyone in the village was more than mindful and always guided Korra along so she never got too lost.

Wiping her forehead with a arm as she finished cleaning up the tables and chairs for the morning rush. The fact she was such a positive girl earned her a few regulars who just enjoyed her fresh attitude. Today was another day...another day she wasn't getting ready to head back home...

Mirin huffed out a breath and stretched out her arms. She was beat. And it was only midday. She looked to her shoulder and patted her recently found scaly friend on the head. Valya was the cutie pie who had won her way into Mirin's heart by the only reasonable way: she had shown Mirin her butt. Mirin grinned at the recent memory and blew some air into Valya's face. The little sailscale screeched out a sound of approval before wiggling her head from side to side. Mirin had been trying to train her since this morning.

Mirin pushed through the doors to the little pub and looked for an open table. It was pretty packed in there, and Mirin was sure it was because the food was probably amazing. She pushed herself into a booth near a window and stroked Valya's chin.

Moving back and forth to take care of customers was her job, but during the busier times of the day she found herself almost overwhelmed. She was lucky however that she didn't work alone. Taking a small breather she wiped the beads of sweat that had begun to gather on her forhead, she spotted in the corner of her eyes a shifter who had sat down but hadn't been attended to yet.

Although she was suppose to go on break now she felt obligated to make sure that no customer get left behind. Moving over she gave the customer a large smile.

"How may I hel...p...MIRIN?" Korra nearly shouted out the girls name in surprise and alarm. It drew several heads in their direction and Korra felt a bit flustered as she hadn't expected to see her child hood friend sitting there. Staring at her for several long seconds as if trying to compute what she saw she quickly slipped into the seat opposite her.

"OH MY GOSH!" she managed in a hushed yet still loud whisper, "It is you!! how are you?!"

She turned her head, craning her neck to see where anybody was to get her a drink and some food. With a sigh she slouched back into her seat and tipped her head to the side. She was starving.

It only took a couple of seconds before a high pitched squeaky voice started to approach her before being completely cut off with surprise. She shot her head up to look at the girl before a grin broke across her face. "Korra!" She hadn't seen her in so long. Not since Mirin had returned her to her father all that time ago. "I'm just training this dork here." She pointed to her sailscale who showed no hesitation in wiggling her butt to Korra before snuggling up to Mirin's neck again. "Geez look at you! What're you doing in a place like this?" She trailed off before something sort of dawned on her. "Wait... you don't live in Tale anymore?" She questioned. If Korra had moved closer that would be awesome. They could catch up!

As excited as Korra was to see Mirin it also made her aware of how silly it seemed to admit to the girl she was only working here because she got lost and hadn't been able to find her way back home despite trying countless times. The radaku that seemed only partial wild would always seem to find her and direct her back to this village. Perhaps it was the only one it knew about, perhaps too it was a creature of habit.

"Ah.....hey you look like your starving, give me a second I'll get you something wonderful to eat." Korra stammered slightly as she rushed to get up and quickly went to the kitchen. True she was enjoying her time here, but she missed her fathers, and her cousins and seeing Mirin only made her more aware of that fact. Asking if it was alright for her to take a quick break she grabbed a plate of food and a snack for the little sailscale before moving back to the table. She felt nervous suddenly like she was going to be lectured but she placed the food down in front of her friend before slipping in on the opposite side of the table before fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.

"Ah...so you said your training that little guy? What's its name?" She inquired trying to end the awkwardness between them by directing the conversation away from the sheer fact she was indeed still a lost cause when it came to her sense of direction.

Mirin beamed up to Korra and nodded when she mentioned starving. She was absolutely right. Korra scurried away and left Mirin to wait; she held out her finger for the sailscale and gently rubbed it under the chin. Yeah, the little sailscale chirped in content, Valya liked that.

Korra returned with a heaping plate of food and set it on the table. Mirin rubbed her stomach and felt it rumble under her hand, demanding whatever was on that plate there. She lifted her head to Korra with hesitation. "... Are... you gonna eat any of this with me?" She asked. She could probably devour the whole thing between her and Valya, but she would be willing to share with a friend... if she had to.

She nodded her head to Korra at her question, "Yeah, she's Valya. I bought her at the market a little while ago. I'm trying to train her to at least be a good shoulder pet. It's the least she could do for me after I was nice enough to take her in." She laughed.

Korra blushed at the question, after all she was only taking a break was it really okay if she ate along side her friend? Ah what the heck, by the looks her boss were giving her it seemed like she was being encouraged.

Reaching forward Korra took something small and light to nibble on, she wasn't hungry but it was nice sharing a meal with someone she knew.

"Your training her?" Korra mused thoughtfully, wondering if Mirin could offer any tips on trying to tame a feral Radaku. Though ...Nevaj didn't really want to be trained she just followed Korra around and brought her back to villages when she got lost.

"Do you think a feral radaku is dangerous?" She inquired carefully as she also didn't want to risk getting her wild animal rescuer in any danger. "I mean..I have one following me around every time I leave this village....and she always guides me back here when I get...well you know..lost?" Korra tried to laugh off her embarrassment but her red face betrayed just how embarrassed she was.

Mirin waited until Korra picked up a piece before digging in. Her stomach pitched a thank you as the first bite hit her stomach. "Man this is good." She murmured while trying to - politely - stuff her face.

She nodded her head to Korra's musing before cocking her head to the side at her question. Feral radaku? She explained the situation and Mirin nearly spit out her food. She would have to try harder to not be rude in front of her friend. "Your rescuer is a radaku?" She swallowed the bite she had before putting down what was in her hand. "Well... That doesn't sound very dangerous to me. You sure it's not someone's pet?" She guessed. How would a radaku take the time to lead someone back if they were used to people, right?
