Rasali stretched up in the air and then leaned down to touch her toes. It had been quite the hike, but she and Luxara had managed to scope out what was probably the only dry(ish), flat stretch of land in the whole swamp. There was even grass! And not the tall, crocodile-infested kind! "Gotta remember this place for next time!" Rasali bounced on her toes to relish the lack of sticking. "Granted we don't wreck it with our super awesome battle moves." Rasali mimed some complicated series of hand motions and made an explosion sound with her mouth. Sparring was tricky business around the Outpost, what with so much water, construction, and tiny children underfoot. Still, Rasali was determined to kick a** the next time the royalists showed up to give the Initiative trouble. Not to mention she was itching for some exercise that wasn't just lifting heavy stuff she found in the swamp. "You good to go, 'Xara?"

Artifact: 1/2It wasn't gross out? It wasn't gross out! Luxara almost felt at home, not hearing squelches with every step. This was exciting. "We could mark it out on our way back so it's easy to find next time," she commented as she looked around. Her advantages always worked best with tree cover, but was that really fair? It wouldn't be much of a fight if she was out of range for actual contact. Hm.
At Rasali's question, Luxara grinned and pulled her crossbow down. She took a few steps back, started to bounce in place, then started circling. "You know I am!" Her eyepiece flicked on. Time to start jammin'.
She strafed around and took a shot, then made sure not to stay in place too long while reloading. Another aim, fire, start to reload. The greenblood kept moving about the entire time, trying to stay fast on her feet. There was no such thing as a cheap shot when every moment could have a serious parallel in the future.
"Let's have some fun."

Novice Defense B Trinket: 0/1Luxara wasted no time in her assault. Rasali would have been proud of the initiative had she not been the one under attack. With a swing that was more reflex than intentional, Rasali whipped her coiled chain in the direction of the projectiles. She managed to knock one aside, as she used her momentum to narrowly sidestep the other. Rasali balked at how close she'd just come to getting skewered twice over. What was more, in her haste to get out of the way, she'd moved even further from Luxara--the one of them with the ranged weapon. "N-Nice one..." Rasali smiled weakly. "Can't go easy on ya after a hit like that."Rasali would have to work double-time to regain her dignity after that. Rasali does 0 damage!

Artifact: 1/2 "Did you seriously knock my bolts out of the air?! Holy crap, that's hardcore!" Luxara laughed, honestly impressed. All of the War Babes were so cool. Aerona was a badass, Rasali was a badass, Forera... She didn't have to worry about any of them tripping up with the Royalists. Still, it was worthwhile to practice. If hunters in the woods could be this persistant, taskforces could be that and more.
The younger greenblood laughed again at Rasali's comment. "Gimme your best shot, Ras! I can do this all day!" To hammer the fact in, Luxara reloaded in a deft motion and fired once more. "Hit me with your best shot! I can take it!"

Novice Defense B Trinket: 0/1Rasali's smile grew in size at Luxara's praise. It was nice to know she was in good standing with her kouhais. And she wasn't about to let that change anytime soon. Rasali rushed forward. She took the crossbow bolt to the meat of her thigh in order to close the gap as fast as possible. Rasali made a sharp swing downward as her chain fell in a wide vertical arc. A broken crossbow would be easier to fix than a broken clavicle. Rasali does 5 damage!

Artifact: 1/2Luxara dipped down in an effort to dodge, but felt the chain slam down into her shoulder. She let out a sharp cry, rolled, then hopped back onto her feet. She side-stepped again, then continued to try to distance herself again. Rasali wanted a merry chase? Let's do it.
She willed herself the speed to get behind Rasali, while still at a distance, to shoot. If only to give her the time for a quick reload.
"Hey, batta batta batta!" It felt wrong to shoot a friend in the back in any case.

HP: 11/20 Military Weapon: +1 DMG Trinket: 0/1 Rasali let out an undignified squeak as Luxara slipped out beneath her reach. She was turning out to be a fast little bugger. Unwilling to risk getting shot in the chest at close range, Rasali unfurled her chain and swung the end of it out. The resulting strength of the blow was lessened, but had just enough reach to try and jostle Luxara's grip on her weapon. "Hhkg!" Rasali hissed in pain as the bolt sliced across her shoulder blades mid-turn. She could already feel a damp splotch working its way into her tank top. God that was going to get so sticky later... Rasali does 2 damage!

Artifact: 1/2Playing fair-ish worked out as well as she deserved on a planet like Alternia; Rasali's chain lashed out, and Luxara loss her grip on her crossbow. Someone was out to rustle her jimmies!
Luxara took a cut on her hand as collateral damage as she tried to get her weapon back. She grimaced when the green blood sprayed out. Not optimal, but at the same time, it wasn't enough to kill her muscles any. She'd just have to take the hit and regroup.

HP: 11/20 Military Weapon: +1 DMG Trinket: 0/1 Success! Despite the relative difference in blood loss, Rasali had Luxara on the ropes. She wasn't about to let her keep the distance between them either. "Sorry, gurl!" Both girls had their eyes on Luxara's weapon, but with opposite goals in mind. Rasali arced her chain's momentum over her head and down in a sweep to Luxara's ankles. Rasali wasn't going to make this easy. Rasali does 3 damage!

Artifact: 0/2Luxara watched as Rasali tried to trip her up. That's how she wanted to play it? Fine. She jumped during the impact, letting the sharp pain drift as she shifted into a roll. So while the chain snapped around, she pushed forward the opposite direction, taking advantage of the few seconds to grab her crossbow. Nice, now her eyepiece could be used for something. She glanced about as the targeting system fired up. Artifact online, she took two rapid shots with shaky hands. The injuries were still fresh- she'd have to work them off.
Even with her fatigue, she had to grin. Luxara exhaled. "Apology accepted!" She wiped sweat and bangs out of her eyes quick before going on the move again.

HP: 7/20 Military Weapon: +1 DMG Trinket: 0/1 Rasali frowned as Luxara recovered faster than intended. Now Rasali had even less time to reel her chain back in. Before she could prime herself for another swing, a crossbow bolt lodged itself in her shoulder. It wasn't deep enough to cause permanent damage, but it was certainly enough to cause Rasali to shriek and swear. Her chain lost momentum as she tended to her arm. She yanked the bolt free, causing more swearing and more blood to flow. Rasali's expression was equal parts annoyed and impressed. If Luxara hadn't proved herself during their first journey to the swamp, she was certainly doing so now. Rasali does 0 damage!

Artifact: 0/2Back to strafing. At this rate, she might plug Rasali full of holes. That might just be too much. She didn't want to get back to camp with Rasali looking like utter s**t. This was a sparring match, not open season.
So she held back a little, letting Rasali catch her breath much like Rasali was letting Luxara find her pace. She wanted the trees. She wanted to climb and be able to squat and take a breath in relative cover, but that wasn't an option right now. But man, would it help her stamina.

HP: 7/20 Military Weapon: +1 DMG Trinket: 0/1 Rasali never took her eyes off of Luxara as the later darted about their makeshift arena. She pivoted when necessary, but didn't move from her spot as she waited for Luxara to do something."You're not going easy on me, are you?"Rasali's voice was high and saccharine. It could have been construed as flirty had she not been bleeding from both sides of her body. Injury wasn't nearly enough to smother Rasali's competitive spirit, however. The second Luxara stepped close enough, Rasali rushed her head-on. Her metal-wrapped arm was pulled back in a fist. She just had to hit Luxara before she could get another shot off. Simple, right? Rasali does 4 damage!
