Her usual cheetah companion was busy this night. Biborka had decided that tonight she'd go out and hunt smaller prey on her own. It'd be nice to get out and do something on her own for herself. If the hunting was good, there was no reason why she couldn't bring the extra back. The feline prided herself on moving without being noticed by other members of the pride. She slipped her way out to the pride's borders.
Biborka paused as a clearing opened up ahead of her. She tilted her head as she scanned it for a tasty morsel. Her ears twitched. There, a faint rustling. A mouse digging under the leaves for fallen seeds. The serval wiggled her rump, once, twice, ready and set, and pounce! She felt the lump of the mouse under her paws and heard it's frightened squeaks. Quickly she bit down until the clearing was silent again. A soft purr rumbled in her chest. It was a good catch, as she dug it free of the leaf litter. Too bad it probably scared away all the prey in the area.

Currently Pali was just wandering around, keeping his eyes open and his ears alert for anything that could be considered food. He wasn't hungry at the moment but that didn't mean he would just ignore anything that could be a potential meal. He was just wandering through the grass a bit, silently making his way through when he heard a noise, or noises, and curiosity got the better of him. He quietly made his way until he got just to the edge of a clearing, and noticed another serval had just caught her own meal.
Well, he hadn't seen another of his kind in a while! Maybe he could introduce himself. Hopefully she was friendly. He didn't expect her to share her meal at all, just having a conversation with her would be good enough. He moved around at the edge of the clearing, making some noise while doing so, so that the other serval wouldn't be quite as surprised at his presence when he came out. When he thought he got to a good spot, he leisurely came out, smiling a bit. "Good hunting today then?"

She bent proudly to pick up her catch. At least she didn't have to worry about her own dinner tonight. To give Gyatso his credit, he made sure she had a bit to eat off his kill. Usually she helped him catch his kills in some way anyhow. Not that others appreciated her skills in keeping them fed. Biborka snorted as she thought about the way the larger members of the pride just showed up expecting there to be food waiting for them. As if they were too lazy to go out and hunt it themselves! Only Gyatso's calming words sometimes kept her words in her mouth.
The serval whirled at the unexpected sound of an unfamiliar voice, her ears were laid back as she thought it was someone from her pride come to steal her catch. She'd thought the soft noises were more prey. Biborka eyed the black and white serval warily. It wasn't anyone she knew, but she could probably keep him from stealing her catch. She slowly put the mouse back down and possessively put a paw over it. "It'll get better. I've only just started." She replied chin up and confident.

Pali nodded. Sometimes you could catch several kills in one night, sometime she even challenged himself to catch a certain amount for that day. He saw she was being possesive of her catch, though that was expected. He wondered if she knew if there was a lot of prey around here. "Don't worry, I'm not hungry, and I would never stoop so low as to steal someone else's kill." He said, trying to relax her a bit. He wasn't sure how long this conversation could go on if she looked like she was going to bolt away.
"Do you know if there's a lot of prey to be caught around here? Although I'm still a bit full right now, it would be good to know if I had to leave here to find some food." He said, smiling at her.

The female gave a sniff of affront as if saying she didn't believe his words that he wouldn't steal. Anyone would steal given the right situation. Before she'd teamed up with Gyatso, bigger cats had often stolen her larger kills. Not that Biborka didn't let anyone steal from her without a fight. Still with her paw on her catch, she gave her whiskers a twitch. "Why should I tell you if the hunting is good?" She was hesitant to inform him that there was a pride growing nearby. Ninjas lived in the night. She felt stupid he'd caught her out at all, but she'd been focused on her mouse.
She gave him a toothy grin that wasn't meant to be reassuring. "You might want to be careful if think you can hang out around here. I've seen some big cats lurking in the area. They might eat you." Biborka had no idea if they really would or not, but it made a nice sounding threat. Plus they really did lurk in the night, even if it wasn't the way he might take it. "What are you doing here anyway?" It was her pride too, and she wasn't going to let just anyone tramp through it.

This female was quite distrusting though that wasn't unusual out here. Everyone had their own experiences and some of those caused one to become wary of any stranger. Pali sat down, though after taking a few steps back from her. He smiled a bit at her question and description of the big cats in the area. If he could have he would have shrugged. "I'm just trying to make a bit of a conversation." He replied and that was true. He hadn't talked to one of his own species in a while.
"I'll heed your advice." He winked at her, still smiling. Though she seemed to be trying to intimidate him, he wasn't afraid of those that were bigger than he, or at least not yet. He hadn't had any life threatening situations yet that would cause him to be more careful. "I was just wandering the area and heard some noise, followed it, and found you."

She was a bit surprised and a touch, but just a touch, grateful when he backed up some. He wasn't quite as threatening to her or her mouse. Biborka flicked her tail and made herself relax when he sat down. The female eyed him a moment. So he wanted conversation? She supposed she could do some conversation with him. "Why didn't you say so in the first place? I'm Biborka."
Biborka wanted to roll her eyes at his wink, but she hoped he would follow her advice. If not she could always sick Gyatso on him. She had warned him! "What kind of noise did you hear?" She figured it was the sound of her pounce when she hit the leaves or the mouse making it's death cry. Some ninja she was! Giving her position away like that. It was novice and stupid. She'd have to work on that.

"Well, glad to see you've finally relaxed a little." He said, chuckling a bit. This was nice, just to have a conversation between two servals. And no fighting between the two of them. He had been alone for a while, and needed the conversation. He couldn't just strike one up with a larger predator, which he saw more often than others like him. They would just take his food or eat him up, either way it was a bad idea for him.
"You're little meal let out a nice dying declaration. Though that's not surprising, sometimes you can't help but to cry out if you're being attacked." It was true, more than once his own prey had gotten quite noisy and he had to move them away from where he had caught them quickly, or else they attracted unwanted attention.

She only looked like she'd relaxed, Biborka thought, she wasn't going to let him steal her prey. There weren't many servals in her pride at the moment, so she had to content herself with company in other forms. Usually bigger cats, and some other familiars. There was even wild dogs and hyenas, not that she approached them much.
"Of course. I bet you'd squeal too." She could just see Gyatso chasing him. But the cheetah wasn't here. The serval sighed. "So what brings you around these parts?" If he wanted conversation, then he would well talk. It'd be something interesting to tell Gyatso later. She was sure he'd like to hear the gossip.

Pali just smiled at the other serval. "Well, I'm not planning on getting caught anytime soon." He replied, a confident look on his face. "I'm just following the food, I don't really have anywhere in particular that I'm staying. Though it is fun just to explore too and not be tied down to anything." He liked his life as a rogue and as a non-familiar. He couldn't imagine having to be a familiar to anyone just yet.
He stretched a bit, though making sure not to move closer to the female accidentally. His ears twitched as he heard a bit of rustling in the distance. "Well... it looks like I might have overstayed my welcome, and I wouldn't want to bother anyone else." He didn't know if thee was anything headed in his direction, but he didn't think the female was lying when she said that he wasn't safe here. "I think I had better go, get on my life, you get on with yours, etc."magnadearel One more quote from each of us unless you want to extend this?

No one planned to get caught. Things did happen as she knew. She caught them all the time though her prey didn't wish to be. It was foolish to delude oneself into believing you couldn't be caught. She thought about roaming. "It's ok, but having a security is nice too." Biborka didn't want to seem like a tame kitty, but having a pride at one's back provided a nice sense of security.
She glanced around. Now that she'd settled to talk, she almost didn't want to give it up. There didn't seem to be anyone around from her pride for the moment that she could sense. "I think you'll be ok if you stayed here with me for a bit. I'm well known as a good hunter." She puffed her chest up. "Now tell me some of your adventures." She was very curious to hear his tales. The serval also settled down and stretched herself out to listen. If he stories were good and amused her maybe she'd let him share her catch.

Pali chuckled. Oh, now she’s interested? He thought to himself as he watched her relax more and settle down. “Yeah, I’ve been thinking of trying to become a familiar to someone myself, but the right person just hasn’t come along yet.” He really didn’t know if it would be any better to be attached to someone else, but perhaps it would be a bit more secure, if he was treated well that is.
He settled himself in a bit, glad to be conversing a bit more with her. “Well I’m not sure how interesting they will be, but I can tell you some of them. I mean there was the one time I was almost eaten by that crocodile…” He would continue on with his story, and hopefully he would be able to call this other serval a friend.
