The shaven, and redyed, side of his head felt a bit cooler as he and Terry walked toward somewhere - really he didn’t know. He had been growing back his hair, albeit slowly, and so having it taken down short again let him feel how nippy it still was. It wasn’t anything new but just something he hadn’t felt in awhile, he’d had a bit more hair on the shaven down side this winter and while it had still been cold his skin was a bit better covered than it was now.
Thankfully there was a hair stylist in Korea town that worked with asian hair, as it was different from western hair, so he was able to get one side shaven, a trim to the other side done with a razor blade. The blond side had been re-dyed as well and looked natural...well as natural as a blond asian looked anyway. It had taken time, no way for it not to, but he’d enjoyed the experience and having his scalp massaged and the shampoo and conditioner was meant more for asian hair. It wasn’t volumizing or anything special just shampoo and conditioner that was natural and good for his type of hair. Being out of products at home anyway he had no problem in purchasing a bottle of each for himself, as they were also good for his colored hair - the only special feature.
Glancing about, taking in what stores were around them as they walked, one hand still petting over the shorter side of his hair he noted a starbucks and some game store with a few people in it.The starbucks seemed packed, no surprise there, and with people milling about outside of it drinking their hot drinks, he could see the steam rising from the cups, he leaned into Terry’s side and focused on where there were headed, he still was clueless but curious. Letting his hand, finally, fall away from his hair he was glad he didn’t smell like hair dye like someone in his class had a few weeks back. Not only had she smelled like hair dye but her scalp was dyed so you knew her hair color was not natural.
“I hope you like show we will watch...can watch movie after it or something on tv. Have satellite and many channels.” They got tv from back home so they got to watch dramas, music shows, and other things that they’d have otherwise missed greatly. He’d gotten to sit down and spend a nice cold December night watching the MAMA awards with his sister and cousin due to the satellite they had, it offered the right channels for them. He did however, this year, feel out of the loop on what songs and groups were doing back home and how popular they were - it was depressing and sad...an unfortunate thing.

Going to the hair salon in Korea Town had been interesting. Terry had sat off to the side in the waiting area and watched as the hair dresser took care of Seung’s hair. While the chair he had been sitting in was close enough to the chair Seung was in, for the most part words being exchanged back and forth had been in Korean and he hadn’t learned enough at this point in time to have been able to follow along. It had still been nice to watch the different interactions and to be able to hear the language flow naturally on more than just a tv show or in a homemade video.
But now Seung and him were walking down the sidewalk and Terry was splitting his attention between the other and the world around them. There were many different shops and even more people walking in and out of them or just down the street like they were. When the other leaned against him Terry gave him a smile and threaded their fingers together after catching his hand. For the most part people around them ignored them, and the brunette was perfectly fine with that, though he thought he caught a ‘cute’ tossed in their direction once.
“How long have you been watching the show?” He asked with a slight tilt of his head as his eyes scanned the buildings for their destination. While it wasn’t the most ritzy of places, Chick-Fill-A had good food and would be easy to travel to Seung’s home with. “We’re almost there.” He said when he spotted the familiar sign.

The woman who had done his hair had been nice, understood the style he wanted. In fact, she had a book full of styles that many idols, actors, and actresses in Korea had worn at some point in time. Also were Chinese and Japanese singers, actors and actresses, so she had known just what style and how he wanted his hair dyed. To get his hair to take the blond color had used a lot of dye, it always did. As that part of his hair had been covered in dye he’d explained that to Terry, because it must look like a lot of product, but it simply took a lot to lighten his hair given it’s natural color was so dark. Maybe he’d eventually dye his hair his natural color and let the dye bleed out and his natural color to take over? It was an idea, he could streak it then or do some colored tips maybe.
The conversation between himself and the hair dresser had been nice, bright, and full of laughter and talking about various places, things, and even pop culture which they both knew and had grown up and lived with. Both had moved here from there, though she’d lived here several years already. He felt bad leaving Terry out of the conversation, he really had, and had kept glancing over to him even suggesting once or twice he read one of the magazines. Even if they’d spoken in English it was about things Terry wouldn’t have had a clue about, or maybe some clue but not much. He’d had to remind himself, while sitting in the chair, that Terry had seen videos he’d had his cousin posted plus had done some research himself into things. He was still flattered by that; the other really did care.
Now though he was spending time with Terry and heading for some surprise place for food, for dinner. Watching people leaving shops, hurrying to shops, and groups of people talk while shopping he felt the others fingers lace with his own. Smiling he gave a gentle squeeze to the others hand as they walked along the sidewalk. He too was sure he heard the word ‘cute’ from a group of people passing. Turning as he heard it, to look back toward the group, he smiled as he leaned back into the others side. “You heard them too?” Wanting to make sure he hadn’t been hearing things, that Terry had heard it also.
“Since first season. Season five ended not long ago...started in...2011.” He said slowly, thinking over it. He had been trying to remember when it had started, by comparing it to things he did remember the year for. Comparing it to a big event he remembered, and remembered what year it took place, and if the series had started that year and around that time he was good. “Mom watches and sister, cousin also.” He said before looking around as Terry announced that they were close. “Where?” He asked wondering where, he saw two or maybe three places to eat.

Whenever Seung had turned to him to suggest one of the magazines while they were at the hair salon, Terry had just smiled and thanked him but said he was fine. It was more interesting to watch them rather then look at the magazines he was sure. Besides he was picking up a bit here and there so he wasn’t completely lost at times.
When the other man had spoken up as they walked down the street he looked over with a smile and a nod. “Yeah I heard them.” He said, glad that so far that was the only reaction they had directed to them. He would have hate to have the night disrupted by someone being rude when they were just trying to enjoy spending time with each other. “I see. Are there other shows you’ve watched regularly?” He asked curiously. At the last question he gestured to the building with a sign of a cow changing words on said sign. “Right there. Not the most fancy of places but it has good food when it comes to take out.” Terry fully planned to take Seung out to eat to a nice restaurant soon, just not for take out.

He hadn’t thought, or realized, the other had been picking up bits of what was said during his talk with the hair dresser. He’d actually thought the other rather lost watching them the whole time, lost and confused, especially if they got to talking a bit faster at some points. The conversation had been good though, he now knew he would be coming back to the salon and to the same hair dresser in the future. His hair had come out good - perfect really.
Nodding his head to the question. “Music bank, MelOn music...is online that one. Many music shows I watch, cousin also.” He answered before adding to it. “Mother likes...drama show and watches with cousin, used to with sister also.” Before his sister had decided to return to living in South Korea, which was fine as it made her happy. He wanted her happy, he wanted both girls happy, and so long as they were happy and healthy he was good.
Looking over the place they’d be getting dinner from he nodded slowly, not all places looked good but that didn’t mean the food was bad. He’d been to little back alley dives back home but the food was amazing and well worth it. He’d learned that at an early age, when he would get food after school on the walk home and such. Since he didn’t go to a hagwon he’d had time to walk around a bit and find places to eat and some happen to be little dives, others were street food vendors. Location didn’t bother him at all, never had, so he took Terry’s word for it as the other mentioned the food was good.
“Is interesting sign.” He said smiling at the other, ready to head inside and get some food.

Terry gave a chuckle and a smile at the list that Seung gave of the shows he watched. “I think it’s safe to say you like music then. Have you seen any of the music shows over here yet?” He asked. While no shows in particular came to mind right off the bat he was sure if he thought about it he could list some. He rathered to listen to music rather than watching shows about it after all.
He glanced over at Seung to see him taking the building in and was glad to see the other wasn’t put off. The building was clean and family friendly, it was just obvious it was fastfood rather than something fancy. “That it is. If you see a sign with a cow changing the words to say ‘eat more chicken’, only the words will be misspelled, then it’s a sign for one of these.” He said then lead the other into the building. It wasn’t very busy at this point of time, only a couple of people in line, so he moved to stand back so they weren’t quite in the que but close enough to see the menu’s. “I know you said you would like something warm so I would recommend having the chicken noodle soup.”

“Yes, I do.” He did like music, as did his cousin and his sister, it was hard not to. He was a bit of a fan...actually his bed shorts were shirts for various groups he liked. “Bed shirts, you seen the words on them….for different songs and groups.” He didn’t say which groups, or songs, or members he figured if Terry wanted to know he’d ask or look it up - either or. He could also just look it up for him later, once they were at his place. “No, not enough english to follow well. Music is different also…” It sounded different, not too different but enough; at least what he’d heard.
“Ohhh...will keep in mind.” Nodding his head to the others words about the sign, he would be sure to remember that, it was amusing actually. “They don’t deliver...I hear fast food doesn’t here.” He said while following the other inside, glancing about more. The place was bright, not unexpected or anything, clean and with a fair amount of people especially children and families. “Sound good, will do that, what are you getting?” He asked still glancing around, though now he was looking back to where they made, or prepared, the food and staring at the food options and pictures above the workers heads.
Seung liked music, he’d just told the other as much, so it should be no shock when fro mthe coat he wore he pulled out an ipod and an iphone. The headset from the ipod was plugged into the iphone which he did a quick youtube search on before offering it up to the other. “Can see here.” And listen, as he was offering his headset to the other. “Can order for us.” Or so he hoped, he should be able to, it wasn’t a hard thing to do - right?

Terry nodded, not surprised to find out that was what his bed shirts were of. “True, though some of the songs genre’s are similar.” He said as he thought of the music that Seung had shared with him so far. He didn’t think he had heard anything in Korean that was close to Country music yet to name a genre that was probably different. What he had heard so far had been on the more pop side of things.
“Actually Chick-Fil-A does deliver, though it’s more catering than delivery. Pizza Hut is a restaurant that delivers though.” Terry said and gestured over at a small sign on a counter advertising the catering option. As the other’s question he looked at the menu briefly then looked back at Seung and gave a small smile. “Oh I’ll probably go with the chicken and have the soup as a side.” He took the offered headset and ipod then raised an eyebrow at the other. “Alright.” He slipped the head set on but made sure to have one ear free incase the other needed help.

He hadn’t shared a lot of music with the other, very little in fact, and what he had pulled up was a live show from one of the tv programs he liked to watch - MelOn. It was a good show, in his opinion, and covered the kpop scene well. So while he let the other put the earbuds into his ears Seung kept repeating in his head the others order before he finally got into line so he could place the order. Standing behind a woman, maybe in her thirties, with two small children at her sides. She looked a bit stressed out, especially when one child kept tugging at her shirt and telling her something, at first it was what he wanted and to make sure that’s what he wanted. After the first two times of that it turned into the bathroom and needing to go. Watching the mother tell him to go to his father, pointing with an almost flailing arm back toward what must be the father, the little boy took off for his father so he could go.
Watching for a moment, as the little boy took off for his father, his attention went then back to the line and those ahead of him as he waited for his turn to order. While the line lessened as people ordered, and went to wait for their food, he finally got to go and smiling at the young male waiting for his order. Dark eyes flicking over them taking in the bright reddish orange hair and greenish colored eyes, plus all the freckles on them, he had never seen someone with such features and found it interesting and distracting for a moment before he mentally shook himself out of the daze.
“Chicken soup - two. And chicken, just one.” Holding up fingers and his accent heavy he hoped they understood the order as he smiled a bit, proud of himself as he was sure he had done better than the last time they’d been out and he’d had to order something.

Terry had watched as Seung got into line for a moment then looked down at the video waiting to start. He pressed play and started to watch, enjoying the tune and the dance moves, but as the other got closer and closer to the front of the line his attention started to deviate a bit from the video and he kept an eye on Seung. He noticed the child that was complaining to his mother then leaving to his father but it was a peripheral type of notice since he was still splitting his attention between the ipod and Seung.
The video ended just when the other got to next in line so he moved over so he was closer, glad that no one was behind Seung so they wouldn’t think he was cutting. When he moved closer he caught how the other ordered and hid a smile, finding it cute, though he knew how the man at the register would react to it. “Okay, what kind of chicken, original or grilled? And what count?” The man at the register asked with a polite smile as he pressed a few buttons on the register.

Unexpected, that’s what it was. He had not expected questions from the person and wasn’t sure, Terry hadn’t said. So he turned and there he was! He hadn’t noticed the other at his side and well - here he was. “Terry?” Questioning dark eyes as he hoped the other could provide the answer, since it was his order.
Waiting on the other to provide the answers his dark feline like eyes glanced down and noted the video was off. Smiling he took his iphone, but didn’t take the earbuds from the others ears. Instead he hit the back button and typed something in and a quick search later and he was clicking something else, another song and another group for the other to listen to. He was looking to give him a good idea of what music was like for him - what he liked. His likes were a bit...varied but there were common traits between all the groups and styles he liked….well aside from the classical or traditional music he liked to go to sleep to. “First song was good?”

Terry gave Seung a smile as if to silently say not to worry, he had this then turned to the cashier. “Original and it will be twelve piece please.” He said then looked back over to Seung just in time for the man at the register to ask his next questions. “Are you wanting anything to drink? And will that be all for you today?” Terry didn’t answer for the other man though he figured they would just get drinks at the other’s house he figured it was better to wait and see what Seung would say.
“Yes it was. I thought the tune was nice and the dancing was fun to watch.” He said when he registered the other’s question. It was then that he noticed that the other was pulling up another video for him to watch, though he had noticed when the ipod had been taken a minute ago, and was curious as to what kind of music he would be shown next. While he was waiting for the other to answer the cashier he hit the play button for the video.

When Terry didn’t answer the next question, about drinks, he lifted his head and turned wide brown eyes onto the cashier, a sort of cute doe like expression on his face. “No...no drink.” He would get something at home. “Banana milk at home.” He said more to Terry than the cashier, though the other could surely hear him. “Have plenty to drink at home.” He added for Terry. “Less soda you want..don’t have that…” He added slowly, he didn’t know if the other drank it or how much. Maybe it was something he should get for when the other came over? Like how he had a stash of banana milk and juice at the others home.
With the iphone back in Terry’s hands he smiled watching him hit the play button. “This is melon show...does live music...and votes from fans online and there...see who is best and award is given.” And it was one of the shows he enjoyed - a lot. His gaze then went back to the cashier and settled there, waiting for Terry to answer and for a total to be given.

Terry split his attention between the video and between Seung and the cashier so he just nodded when Seung said there was drinks back at his place. He had been expecting that so he was quick to agree that no drinks were needed. “I’m sure whatever you have at your place will be fine, I don’t need any soda.” He said with a smile to the slightly shorter man then turned back to the cashier. “That should be all then.” He said then dug out his bank card from his pocket with his free hand and passed it over to the redhead before Seung could try and pay.
While that was being done he turned his attention back to Seung when he started to talk about the video’s. “I can see why you like watching the show then.” If they show had singers like that on all the time he could certainly see the appeal of it.

He knew Terry would offer to pay, used to it by now, and so seeing as he had paid a more often lately he decided to let Terry cover the food this time. So rather than reach for his own wallet Seung let Terry go for his wallet and stood there waiting and listening to the total. “Get home you can pick drink, can make tea or coffee also, and go watch tv then. Can watch movie after if you want.” Or anything else, he didn’t mind. It would be a nice evening for them to spend together, his parents would think he was just spending time with a friend...his cousin might figure something else but that was ok. His cousin he was ok with her knowing, sort of.
“Some drinks won’t know, but maybe you like to try.” He had plenty of drinks he had grown up with, or his cousin had, but he had a lot of juice drinks from here as well. They had a lot of healthy drink choices...or at least more healthy than soda.
“Mmm, show is good. Music bank and others like this too. Way to see what is popular and see it live...not music video.” Seung said this while watching the people working behind the counter, preparing people's orders. They were like little worker bees as they prepared things for people and were handing bags to people at the counter, calling out numbers.
