As the door to the shop closed behind him, Kieran fixed his lenses that now sat fixed on his nose. It had taken some fair change, but the male finally had his sight back. His hearing, however, may have taken a good hit since the artisan had once more taken the liberty of lecturing him about how venturing into caverns alone were not in his best interest. Needless to say Kieran kept the better part of the tale to himself to save future trouble. It wasn't always his fault that there were a few obstacles here and there between him and an interesting artifact.

At least this time I have a spare. Taking great care to place his second pair of lenses into a smaller bag that rested in his main satchel, the Yaeli turned the corner. Now that he was Pajore for the day it wouldn't hurt to explore. At the thought Kieran glanced around. If he was exploring then what was available to him? I could find some stories to record in my journal or perhaps a store with some more artifacts... Or better yet a library. He could always use more books to line his shelves. He did have the extra coin from selling some of his latest finds after all. Though of course the new glasses had taken their hit on that as well. Frowning the male opened his satchel once more with a small sigh, "I suppose I'll just walk for now." That decided the Yaeli turned away from the shop and just simply started to walk.

Eventually something interesting was certain to happen, right?

With Jalase being banned from helping out with his parents’ stall, he was left to explore the city on his own for the afternoon. Something he had rarely been able to do while being tied down to his job. He supposed, in a way, the thief, who had stolen the money, was a blessing Though he did wish it hadn’t of cost him his money he’d saved up. Sighing, Jal made his way through Pajore, exploring into places he had yet to come across when being sent out for food or some other such thing. Bells sounded in the near distance and Jal blinked as a small chapel of some such came into view.

The sight of the holy building made his brows furrow as thoughts of his sister flooded his mind — as such they always did when he saw anything dealing with the yaeli religion. Crossing his arms, Jal stared at the building and wondered what his sister was doing at that point in time. Would she be out of the sanctum by now? Would she be in a place like this? Could she be in this chapel? The sad truth of it was, Jal wouldn’t even know if it was her that walked out of the church. Sure, families tended to have similar features but each person was distinct — different — and he had absolutely no idea what his sister looked like beyond a slight resemblance she might have to his mother.

Jal sighed, and ran a hand through his hair as he debated heading into the place — something he had not done since he was young and had no real choice in the matter. As far as Jal was concerned, a lot of yaeli religious beliefs and teachings were nothing but old tales told to scare children and young teenagers into listening to their parents. He huffed, closed his eyes for a moment and turned to leave. There was no sense in wasting his time with such nonsense.

Kieran was noting all the city sights when the sudden appearance of the holy building made him pause. Once long ago his mother had promised to take him to such a place, but those visits had been when he was just a youngling. Before she could ever take him back....well she had passed on. Rubbing the back of his neck the Yaeli almost moved on until he noticed someone else who seemed torn about moving forward. Hmm? Raising a brow, Kieran took a step forward.

"Pondering something?" As the other Yaeli turned to leave, Kieran gave a small wave. "Are you with the temple by chance? I always wondered what it was like to be a part of such a mysterious place." All those secret practices that went on behind those closed doors...he could just imagine the books that must be waiting inside. Were there histories or perhaps even books of curses or blessings? Anything of the sort would greatly interest him. Blinking, the male realized he had zoned out. "My apologies if I bothered you. I just saw you standing here with such an intense expression so I couldn't resist asking."

Jalase jerked to a stop at the sound of voice, very obviously directed towards him. He blinked and glanced in the direction it had come from. His surprised expression quickly turned sour when the other yaeli asked if Jal was part of the chapel. Huffing, he shook his head briskly. “No. I’m not. And never will be. I haven’t stepped foot in a holy place since I was a child.” He resisted — barely — spitting on the ground at his feet. He really didn’t care for the teachings. He sighed when the the other male apologized and Jal shook his head. “You’re not bothering me. I just don’t have much care for places like this.” He waved his hand in the general direction of the chapel. “So I’m sorry, I can’t help you with whatever it was you were needing.”

So much negative emotion...Kieran almost raised an eyebrow before simply offering a small smile instead to the other male, "Then I definitely apologize. If I had known you had so much negativity against the place then I would have never asked." He nodded his head a small sign of his apology, "Sounds like you have your own story against these holy grounds." But that was something he could wait on. Like normal the male seemed to almost radiate a patience in his subtle presence. He never was one to shove things along. It was much easier to just plot and watch as things unfolded.

"So I see." Kieran waved his hand in the air as if to disperse his previous questions, "No worries about that. Could I instead ask you for places you do care about?" He smirked, "Honestly, I have some free time and this is the most I've been in the city. I was tempted to find a library or browse what merchants may be offering, but at the same time I happened to see you standing here. Care to be bothered by a stranger who is trying to find what is interesting about this area?"

Jalase sighed and shook his head. The other yaeli had really had no clue about his feelings towards the religion that permeated through Yael. Jal had had no business being so gruff about it. “No, it’s fine. As you said, I have my own story against the religion so many of my own people follow blindly.” He gave the man a small, apologetic smile in return and crossed his arms as he thought about the question tossed at him.

“I’ve not actually had much time to explore the city myself. It’s what I was doing — exploring, that is — when I found the chapel and got lost in my thoughts” He gave a small shrug and looked back in the direction of the marketplace and his parent’s stall. “I know the market pretty well. My parents have their own stall and sell clothes they make back in Ilidan. And I love to visit the blacksmith.” Jal rubbed the back of his neck as he glanced back to the stranger. “Other than that, I’m as lost as you are in this place. The last time I explored I was a preteen and with my parents. We could explore together, if you wanted?”

Kieran's gaze held interest, but he didn't press further. "So I see." Perhaps later he would ask, but not now. Either way he accepted the apology with a small smile of his own. It was nice though to meet someone who thought against the tides of religious superstition that controlled so many lives on Yael. Not that he was completely against it, rather the male just took everything with a grain of salt. Curses, in particular, made an interesting addition to his collection of stories at home.

"So a fellow explorer encounters another."
Replied Kieran lightly, "If you don't mind then I would enjoy having some company. I roam the wilderness so much that I almost forget what it's like to see others." His gaze studied the area around them. "I think the last time I stayed here longer than a day I was just a youngling myself...so we'll see what we can find. Unless there's a place in particular you were seeking then I'm fine with random wandering." Spinning on his heels the male glanced over at the streets, "So to the right or the left?" He questioned with a raised brow, "Either seems pretty similar so far." They'd have to venture down further to find anything much different.

Jalase shook his head and grinned. “I don’t mind at all. A little company would be nice. And at least if I get lost in the city, I won’t be alone.” He gave a small laugh and followed the other’s gaze in the two different directions they could travel. “I had no specific goal in mind. Just aimless wandering. So as long as you’re alright with that…” He trailed off, eyes closing as he brought his hand up and spun a couple of times. When he stopped, Jal opened his eyes and laughed. “Right it is, then.” Before they set off on their adventure, he glanced to the other. “The name’s Jalase, by the way. Or Jal for short — whichever you prefer.”

"Doesn't it become an adventure then?" Teased Kieran with a smile, "Or at least then you'll have another person to blame for getting lost." Pushing his glasses up on his nose the male watched as the other spun around. He actually chuckled as he watched their 'spinner' find their new path. Perhaps I'll try that next time I'm exploring a cave and trying to decide which passage to take.

"Oh! Where are my manners? You would think that I never interact with others..." Flushing lightly Kieran tucked back a stray strand of hair, "A pleasure to meet you, Jal. I'm Kieran or Key for short if you would prefer as well." It was a nickname that had stuck with him as a youngling and he automatically offered it now. When it came to adventuring having a shorter name proved best for times of emergency...every second to communicate counted.

Shaking his head free of such worries, Kieran smiled. "So let's go on then." Striding down the street the he began to study the architecture of the buildings as they passed by. "I'm not certain how I could stand knowing that my neighbor could easily peer into my home...then again most of my neighbors are keldari." He mused as they passed. Though perhaps it was his lifestyle living alone in a cave in the wilderness that was the strange one.

Jalase blinked at the commentary and followed Key’s glance up towards one of the many buildings surrounding them. “I never really thought of that. My home’s back in Illidan. Definitely no buildings like this. We have neighbors but they’re far enough apart that they’d have to make an effort to actually peek into our home.” He rubbed the back of his neck, glancing towards Key for a moment, when he mentioned keldari, and raised an eyebrow. “Keldari, hm?” Jal thought for a moment, what it would be like to live outside of any known village or city. No one to police over what you’re doing, living off the land even more so than they already did. It was fascinating and yet scary at the same time. “What’s it like...exploring wherever you please? I’ve not actually managed to make it outside of Illidan or Pajore much. Mainly just the areas in between the two.”

"Illidan?" Kieran raised a brow in interest, "I've heard that area isn't so bad." He chuckled about the comment of neighbors, "Would be more worrisome then to have a neighbor sticking their head in a window." If anyone appeared in his own home he might mistake them for spirits instead. That would be an interesting experience...

"Ah, yes. My home is underground actually. It's amazing what you can do with such vast space when the rocks are naturally dry and not wet like the cove caves." Kieran rubbed the back of his neck, "What's it like? I would say it's pretty intriguing. I'm a collector of knowledge so exploration allows me to study our past through the relics left behind. I have a library at the home I live in and I collect all my knowledge there." His gaze darkened a bit, "It was my mother's goal to fill that place up with her personal journals and so with her passing I decided to take up the task."

"But it is dangerous as my mother's passing proved." The Yaeli shrugged, "You have to be willing to go against the odds especially with our new 'friends' living on the island. I'd rather face a few wild beasts than them." The thought just twisted his stomach. What he wouldn't give to dig a blade through one of them.It was a strange thought for a normally patient and caring man, but his nightmares of a memory forced it.

"So what about Illidan? How is life there?" Kieran grinned teasingly as they walked along the stone paths, "Can't make it all about me, you know."
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2016 12:34 pm

Jalase frowned as he watched Key’s expression change, quickly, from happy to something he couldn’t quite explain — anger, perhaps? Jal jumped on the chance to change the subject — to bring it to a more neutral place for the time being. “Ilidan is decent. A little boring sometimes but I make due,” Jalase said as he shrugged lightly. “I really do like coming into the city. Even if I haven’t really had much of a chance to explore before now. It’s different — busier. And there’s definitely more people to meet here. I feel as if I know almost everyone back in Ilidan. I’ve been thinking about what I want to do with my life, lately, and I really do think I’ll end up here for at least a while. Might join the guard. Who knows, it might be just the thing I need to do to get myself out there and exploring more.”

Thankful that his topic change worked, Kieran nodded. "Sounds like a change of pace might be refreshing." The Yaeli studied a bustling group of younglings that moved past with what he guessed was an older sibling, "To each their own. I don't think I could live here, while it is nice to explore and interesting to watch others interact I do prefer some fresh air. Hard to get that with all the buildings and people living here."

"Joining the guard?" Kieran blinked and looked towards the other Yaeli, "Sounds like a pretty impressive goal. I think I'm too much of a rogue to do such a thing, but I always wanted to learn how to fight like that. Some of their swordsmanship is rather impressive. What would be your weapon of choice?"
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2016 1:41 pm

Jalase shrugged. “I could live just about anywhere, I think. I’m not very picky. I do want to explore, as I said. But in time I’ll settle down. Who knows where, though. I suppose only time will tell with that.” He gave a small chuckle and grinned when Key asked about his weapon of choice. “A sword,” Jal said. But his grin quickly faded as he huffed and looked away from the other Yaeli. “Though I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get it. I had to pay my parents back for some money that got stolen while I was watching their stall. It was...all I had saved up for my sword. And since they won’t allow me to watch the stall anymore, I’m not earning money at the moment.” Jalase huffed and kicked at a random rock, in the middle of the road, out of frustration.

"An explorer at heart then." Kieran smiled, "Sounds like we could get along well." Frowning, Kieran watched as the other Yaeli's mood dropped. Had he mentioned something wrong about the guard? As Jal explained the Yaeli nodded, "Ah."

In the back of his mind cogs began to turn, "So you have nothing to do and want to earn money?" Rubbing his chin thoughtfully Kieran looked towards the other Yaeli, "Care to test your exploring spirit then? My ventures into caverns often are for finding relics and other such things to interest people at the market, or my own personal interests at times. I have some extra coin should you feel that assisting me would be in your interests. It might be a bit dangerous though if you are willing the more the merrier."
