Chalcedony had a few more rolled up bounty posters, having found them upon coming back from his menzuri hunt. He'd delivered the pieces of the menzuri the client requested as well as the webbing, having been paid decently before he had a stern talking to with the strange man that requested the stuff. He could only hope that he'd gotten through to him. The menzuri weren't something that just anyone should be fighting... though because he'd said as much the man had requested that he be the one to get him more menzuri bits in the future if at all possible. At least the repeat work would be nice. Heading out of Sol he read over the new posters that he'd obtained. He'd go after the creatures written on them soon, after he got to the river and saw to scrubbing his pack clean. He didn't want to put any of things back into it until it was cleaned of all the spider bits that might be clinging to it. Until then his pockets were overstuffed with everything that should be in his pack. Once after everything was taken care of could he get back to work, so that was where he was headed now, to a nearby stream outside of town.

Her stomach growled at her as she sat on a branch of a tree. Rajani had been staring in the direction of the town for a long time, trying to convince herself that she could go and be unnoticed as well as untouched. However, she didn't seem to be all that persuasive. Then her eyes caught the sight of someone coming her way. Rajani leaned back into the shadows and watched the person. They were huge compared to her. But one feature of theirs stood out. Full pockets. She wasn't training to be a thief or anything but until she had other means to getting food it was what she had to resort to. So as the man walked past she sneakily made her way down the tree and followed.

Chalcedony was being followed for a good ten yard before he realized that someone was behind him... though he didn't really do anything straight away. The one that was behind him didn't seem to have any malicious intent, he didn't seem to sense a killing aura, and since he wasn't one to start fights for no reason he merely continued on his way. If they wanted to try to stop him from getting to his destination then he'd defend himself, but until then all that was happening was that someone happened to be taking the same path as him. Given the river was open to everyone he wasn't about to protest. Instead he just kept walking, not even reaching for the shield that he had on his back. He didn't want to seem like the aggressor after all. It was a nice day and he'd keep it that way if at all possible. As he continued forward the trees thinned out just a little, telling him that he was nearing where the river was located. Good, he was eager to get his pack scrubbed out so that he didn't have to think about menzuri for a while or the fact that their bits had been in his pack.

Since the man didn't react she took it as her being extra sneaky. Rajani looked around to make sure that no one else was around then made her move. Quickening her pace she took out her small knife and went for Chalcedony's pockets. The fifteen year old shifter was only intending to slice open the fabric of the man's pants so that the goodies inside would fall out allowing her to snatch something and run away. Of course she needed to be really fast to do what she had in mind. After all, if the man noticed too soon then he might retaliate!

As the girl came up closer to him Chalcedony didn't turn, to react in any strong way, instead he merely said, "You know, if you're in need of something you could probably just ask for it." After speaking he turned to glance toward the one with the knife, giving her a smile, "I am not the sort that would refuse a request out right, though I am a bit leery of the knife." He couldn't say that he wanted to get into a knife fight today, especially not with a girl that look to be younger then his sons. He started forward again and said, "Just let me know what you decide, little one, and I will help out where I can." It would become obvious after a time that, despite her having a knife n hand, that he wasn't going for his weapon. Instead he decided to leave it right where it was, hanging off of his back.

When the man spoke she gave a squeal and back pedaled. Rajani was sure he was going to retaliate! Her panic caused her to trip over her own feet and down she went. With another squeak she landed on her behind and winced. However, the large man didn't do anything. Rajani stared after him in complete astonishment. Had she just tried to steal from a monk? No way, monk's didn't have shields. Then her stomach spoke up for her. It gave up such a loud grumble she was sure that any animal in the vicinity would have run for their lives. Rajani groaned and rubbed at her stomach.

Chalcedony couldn't help but to laugh, giving a little shake of his head, "You alright?" She'd tripped and fallen down a bit hard, hadn't she? Enough that she'd given a wince, which worried him a little, but best to wait and see with her. He didn't want to get too close given that she did still have a knife on her person. Best that he didn't tempt Fate since in doing so he was also tempting being stabbed. Not the way he wanted to spend his day, that much was for certain. As he waited for an answer from the girl while he didn't get one directly he got an inkling of one from her stomach. It was something that made his smile spread a bit before he set to digging into one of his pockets, getting out a cloth that was wrapped around some dried aldabuk meat that he'd traded for not that long ago. He gave it a once over then shrugged and tossed it to her, "There you go, it's dried aldabuk. Pretty tasty stuff if I do say so myself." He could always get more later, far more easily then he would suspect the knife wielding girl might.

She stared up at him. This man had to be a monk. Here Rajani was, holding a knife and had attempted to steal from him and he was asking if she was alright. A few blinks of her eyes came after her stomach had spoken up. Her knife was on the ground now as her palm lay flat over it, her legs moving so that she could get up. All that stopped when Chalcedony started digging around in his pockets. It worried her and she instantly brought the blade back up to point at him. It shook a little since she wasn't so sure what she could do against someone so big. Then food was produced and tossed her way. Rajani dropped the knife and caught the dried meat. Eye large and glued to the food she seemed to salivate some before looking toward the man again. "Thanks." While the idea that it could be poisoned had crossed her mind she doubted a monk would do such a thing. So she took a bite from it and instantly looked like she was in heaven. "Ah! So good." She mumbled and took another bite. Rajani practically stuffed her face to the point of looking like a squirrel with fat cheeks.

Chalcedony gave a nod of his head, "Your welcome." He said, glad to see that she was willing to eat the food instead of being stubborn about it. He waited as she ate, nodding when she mentioned that it was 'so good' which had him smiling, "Glad to hear it... though you should be careful, you don't want to choke. I have no plans to take it back so you can take your time." After shifting on his feet he said, "I am going to be heading to the river. If you're still hungry after all of that you can join me, maybe we can catch you a couple of fish to cook up?" He found himself wondering if maybe she wasn't that good at fishing? It would explain why she was so hungry he thought to himself. If that were the case then he should see about teaching her how to fish so she could successfully feed herself. Only if she came along though, he couldn't exactly force anyone to learn to fish he thought to himself as he turned to head for the river.

Even though he said he wasn't going to take the food back she continued to take more and more bites of it. Chewing and swallowing along the way. Rajani was not only hungry but she had been taught to eat quick less she wanted to miss a meal. While it looked like she was ignoring the man when he spoke she watched him when he turned away. Rajani stayed on the ground eating as she stared after the monk. Since he had mentioned more food she would be following him but she would make sure it didn't cost her something she was unwilling to give. Some minutes after the girl got to her feet and followed, her knife back in her hand just in case she needed it. This time when she approached she didn't try to be sneaky but she was weary. She was watching Chalcedony with distrust but clearly searching for more food.

By the time she arrived the girl would find Chalcedony knelt down next to the river, working hard to scrub his pack clean. It wasn't so much that it was coated in anything gross, it didn't really even smell bad, it was just the sheer fact that he knew what had been in it made him want to clean it. Until it was clean to his standards he didn't think that he'd be able to put any of his stuff back into it let alone putting food into it. The idea was enough to make his nose wrinkle a bit before he scrubbed a bit hard. Turning his head slightly he glanced toward the nearby girl, the back to what he was doing, "I was on a job where someone wanted me to hunt down menzuri then bring back a few specific pieces for him. I haven't been able to put anything else in the bag since, not until it's cleaned out thoroughly." He explained, in case she was wondering what in the Jauhar he was up to at the moment. Once he'd gotten it cleaned to the point that he felt it was free of any reminants of spider bits he flipped it inside out and hung it from a nearby tree branch upside down to dry. Once that was done he shrugged out off his shield, putting it face down so that he could unload his pockets into it. "I will be glad when it's dry and I can pack all my things back in it again." He said, knowing it would be a lot easier to move about then since he wouldn't have to worry about dropping things.

She wrinkled her nose up at the idea. "Why would someone want Menzuri parts?" While she might not have been raised in Jauhar she did know what those creatures were. And they were poisonous. Rajani stood there watching as Chalcedony cleaned the bag out. When it was hung she watched it then quietly observed as the goods were taken out of his pockets. Of course she was looking for more food. And since she didn't want to get too close to the man she stood up on tip toes and tried to be nosey from where she was. The girl chewed on the inside of her cheek then clicked her tongue. "You mentioned more food... Uhm... what's the catch?" There had to be one, right? Something that this man wanted?

With a laugh Chal said, "He was a strange guy, but a good one. He said that he needed them if he was going to figure out what herbs were best used when combatting the paralysis that menzuri can inflict. He just wasn't strong enough to actually fight them himself yet, something I understand since they are quite a daunting beast." It was why he'd scolded them man so much, because he'd put others in danger by asking a whole crowd to hunt down such creatures instead of finding someone qualified. "The catch? I suppose just that, you have to catch it. Fish are kind of slippery creatures and either using a pole, a sharpened stick, or your hands they tend to be troublesome. Worth it though if you can get a good sized one."

"Oh, so he was a healer type then?" It made sense to the girl. You needed the bad things if you were going to make a good thing to fight it. Rajani had watched a healer or two take care of her Oban master. Then she had a confused face. This man wanted her to catch a fish? The girl looked at the water then at him. "I'm not a fisherman. I can't even swim." And the idea of getting in water wasn't something she was comfortable with.

He nodded, "Yeah, a healer of sorts or at least one in training. So long as his studies go well then there will be at least a little less fear of the menzuri." Not that they would ever become harmless but having someone trying to study a way to counteract them should help a lot in the coming days. Provided of course the guy was able to figure it out and didn't even up going overboard which seemed to be a possibility with him. "I figured." Chalcedony said as he turned to look at the water, "You likely wouldn't be as hungry if you could get fish whenever you wanted or needed it." He could only hope that she would be willing to learn at least a bit about fishing so that she could would have access to fish at the very least. After a moment of thought he said, "If you don't swim I'd say suggest sticking to more shallow areas and maybe avoid hand fishing. If you get too big a fish in your hands it might flail about and knock you in."
