((BACKDATED! Takes place before her meeting with Caedus))
Sitting cross legged on her bed, the teen sat in the darkness of her room in her pink pant pajamas and short sleeved top staring at a small crystal that sat opposite to her on the comforter. If anyone had walked in on her they would have thought she was having a staring contest with the inanimate object but instead, she was pondering what to do with it. Sure, she had taken the crystal intending to offer up some of her energy to help out Caedus but now she was feeling a bit uncertain.
There were a lot of questions still to be answered and Chailee was a bit apprehensive about the whole situation. Still, she wanted to trust the stranger. To think that he was so far from home for so long and had no clue the fate of his planet just tugged at her heartstrings. If she had been forced from her home and loved ones she could only imagine how terrible she would feel and how badly she wanted to get back. Images of her parents worrying about her. Her mother even crying, was just too much. It didn’t take much for Chailee to transfer those images to non-descript forms to represent Caedus’s family.
Leaning forward she looked more closely at the crystal. It was small and white in color. There was nothing about it that looked harmful and Caedus had told them it was safe. Still…
Carefully, she reached a finger forward to touch the surface and as soon as she made contact the crystal seemed to come to life with a faint glow. Promptly she pulled away and the luminescence disappeared just as quickly as it had come. Chailee sighed and sat back up. “I am being silly about this. Other people seemed perfectly fine with this idea.” But, then again, there were several who looked very wary about the whole situation. Some even referred to it as borderline negaverse stuff and that sent a shiver down Chailee’s spine.
Still though, she wasn’t intending to go around and take energy from anyone else. She was going to willingly give it and that was a big difference, wasn’t it? Plus he said it would help with sleeping. That would be a perk in and of itself since she’d been lacking in that department as of lately.
Mustering up the courage again, she leaned forward and grabbed hold of the crystal. Instantly it flared back to life and Chailee sat studying it in the palm of her hand. She had to admit, it was very pretty when lit up, and it certainly didn’t hurt as it drew energy.
Deciding to get herself as comfortable as possible, Chailee scooted herself up to her pillows and leaned back so she could pull her comforter and sheets out from under herself before nestling herself into the warmth of her bed. With the crystal in hand she laid there, eyes half open watching as she felt the soft drain of energy leave her. It certainly didn’t take long until she felt ready to fall asleep.
Afraid to possibly fall asleep with the crystal still in hand, Chailee carefully deposited the stone on her bedside table next to her phone. As soon as she lost contact with it the glow faded once again and it wasn’t long after that the teenager was well asleep.
