Fashion Week, which was really more of a Fashion Three Days but that wasn't very catchy, was a delightful cluster of sidewalk sales, raffle booths, and excited children. An entire section of the downtown district had been closed off to through traffic, and people milled about as they browsed the wares on hand from brick-and-mortar stores and the portfolios of design students from Rider-Waite. (There'd be a show on Sunday afternoon, thesis students displaying their skills). As the Ashdowntown group said, it was an excellent opportunity to get out and get some face time with your prospective future customer base, and many people were taking advantage of it.

There was a competition going on where signing up for mailing lists from different stores earned you tickets towards a raffle of a pretty swanky makeup palette and two rather decently sized gift cards to local Ashdown retailers. Of course, there were plenty of ways to earn tickets otherwise; helping out at the booths, purchasing items from the retailers, simply being in attendance, but the big one was definitely getting some news from local Ashdown businesses.

(Scott Free was around here somewhere, doubtless discussing weird fashion stuff with his fellow weirdo cosplayers.)

As part of our IC event, we are holding a fancy-schmancy raffle for busts from each of our three very talented full time artists! Want to get some rad tix? This's how:

Once per day, you can roll a 4-sided die to determine how many tickets your character has earned. YOU MUST MAKE AN IC POST OF AT LEAST 50 WORDS TO CLAIM YOUR ROLL. You can earn them ICly through any method you please--whether that's by your character purchasing something or playing a game--just be sure to roll or else you don't get any! These will be collated below, in the raffle list.

You can also earn tickets by playing in-thread games in our main thread. Games being run by Ashdown Whaler will happen every so often.

Ticket rolls reset every night at midnight PST (so 3am the next day EST).

This ORP will run for a week, ending on Friday, April 22nd. You can claim tickets up until that time!

Once the ORP closes, tickets will be checked a final time and then rolled. First prize gets first choice, second prize gets second, etc.

OK LET'S DO THIS LET'S HAVE SOME FUN

THIS COUNTS AS AN EVENT REQ IF YOU HIT 500 WORDS

Did you know that Cid was into fashion? Did you know he looked fabulous in knee high boots? If you did not, YOU DID NOW. Said comic shop owner was sitting at a booth, various cosplay fashions all around him, while he spun dice on the table.

For now, at least until later, he was the so very fashionable Erwin Smith (and he would argue you into the ground if you tried to say Erwin wasn't, thank you very much) and he had his sexy boots up on his table.

There was a sign that read RELEASE YOUR INNER ANIME BEAST in large lettering followed by something in microscopic lettering that could never be read.

It really was one hundred percent designed to lure people in so that Cid could talk their ears off about the wonders of cosplay and just how it was important to fashion.

Or sell things.

Or prove he was some kind of small deity when it came to dice.

Either way, he had raffle tickets and people always wanted raffle tickets because prizes were always the best.

Edwin felt rather like a stalker, although they weren't making any sort of attempt to hide. They were just looking for anyone who looked like they had personality, and also time. Which meant they were acting like a stalker, although in their opinion it'd be pretty clear that they weren't too sketchy on a closer look. After all, they were dressed in bright pinks, with a heavy-looking camera bag slung over their shoulder, and a tripod and DSLR in each respective hand. No, they didn't want to be approached for free samples or whatever; yes, they did want to take your photo.

Okay, okay, scratch that: they had a bit of a weakness for brightly colored jewelry. They took a break (well, they'd only just started, so it wasn't much of one, but still!) to make a purchase - and accept three proffered raffle tickets - before heading back into the crowd, drumming angrily on the tripod as they went.

Asiya lived for fashion week. The different colors, the vibrant styles, and all of the people that expressed themselves in creative ways. It was a wonderful time, and the artist decided to go out and enjoy herself. Festivals and festivities were generally few and far between, so why not? It would give her a chance to mingle as well, so that was always a plus.

Donning a turban style hijab in a vibrant red color along with a floral suit jacket and cream pants. Dressing in such colorful clothing always made her happy, and she was eager to go out with her unique style of hijab. Trying out new styles of wrapping her scarf was fun, and doing so at fashion would be the best place to try it. With her purse, cellphone, car keys and all her odds and ends in hand, she then made her way to the festival.

"I'll purchase a few tickets," she said as soon as she got to the ticket booth. That was always her first stop - a good place to go, just in case. They would always have little events and games going on, and having tickets to possibly win never hurt. After she received her tickets from the clerk, she then wandered off and went to look about. There would be stands to visit and other games to check out.

Asiya caught sight of Cid, and then she immediately gravitated over. "I've been fond of anime for a while," she admitted to him, unashamed and eager to try his game. "I love the different art styles, and things always look so pretty in the animation, too. Can I try your game?" She smiled warmly at Cid when she asked her question, and then waited. Would luck be on her side, or would it favor the game runner?

Asiya would love to play Cid's game. Going to also roll for my tickets for today, so that's what the d4 is.

"Might want to branch out into more than just anime if you like the different art styles. There's several manga-ka and well as manwha artists you mind find yourself enjoying. Never mind that you'll find a lot of the street style can be influenced by the trends that are started in them." Cid replied, still not taking his boots off of the table. He pulled a card from his pocket and held it out to her. "Come by the shop and check it out, there's even more clothing there for sell by one of my adorable employees."

Still, it was time for a dice roll and he plucked up a D20 to roll. "Let's see if the dice love you or not ~" In response to her wanting to try his game. When it came up a two, he snorted. "Well, they obviously are not loving me today." There was an array of dice laid out, various colors and styles. "Pick one and roll!" The raffle ticket roll was in his hand.

"Oh, yes! The sure volume of the different manga-ka and manhwa artists is just astounding," Asiya agreed while nodding with a smile. "One of my favorites is Mori Kaoru," she went on to explain as she thought of some of her favorite comic book artists. Mori was famous for her work in A Bride's Tale, which was as beautiful in story as it was in artwork. Unfortunately for Asiya, she had not been reading as much comics - manga or otherwise - lately. She had been focused on artwork and the like, and had lost herself for a bit in that as she often tended to do.

She couldn't help but laugh when she saw what Cid rolled for his dice. A two; couldn't get much worse than that. "You must have upset them," she commented, nodding toward the dice that he had rolled. "Here's to hoping they take to me a little better." Having said that, Asiya plucked a sparkly purple d20, and then rolled it.

The dice seemed to favor her, it would appear.

Wil had taken up residence a yard or so down from Cid's booth mostly because the comic shop owner was pretty much guaranteed not to complain about him being there or have him thrown out. It would be harder to say the blonde was bothering anyone with Fashion Week going on, but certain law enforcement officials were out to get him.

He was sitting on a milk crate with flowers in his hair and a piece of cardboard for card tricks or various forturne tellings. His trusty magic 8 ball was being rolled between his hands as he shook out a prediction for one of the neighbor kids, "IT IS CERTAIN."

The little girl giggled to her friend and dropped a quarter into the blonde's open backpack.

"Mm, upset them or made a mockery of their fine, fine powers. Who knows." Cid was all grins regardless and grinned wider when Asiya rolled a seventeen. He rubbed his hands together then spread them out to show there was nothing there and then, with a flourish and a flick of his wrists, two raffle tickets appeared. There was one in each hand and they were held out for her to take. "You may want to try Irie Aki sometime. Not quite similar in terms of style but super cute all the same. Anyway, these are yours!"

Then he was finally - FINALLY - taking his boots off the table to lean back and watch Wil. "Dude, duuuuuude. Will I win my dice rolls today?" If pressed about Wil being next to him he would easily admit that it was all part of his booth. Wil was his bro.

Nasir was not that far away himself but he was also the one handing out cute small paper bags that had pastries for the various people running the booths. He came to a stop, dropping one off for Cid, before he was handing Wil one - that was obviously bigger because it was meant to be more than just a snack. There may have also been flowers weaved into small braids in his hair along with the usual supply of clips and barrettes.

Never mind the new pair of glasses that he was wearing.

"Snacks delivered," he said, slipping in between Wil's set up and Cid's booth to find a place to sit and eat a pastry himself. Though he did run a hand through blonde curls as he went by.

Asiya quirked her brows in surprise when Cid did his little slight of hand trick. Impressed, she beamed happily at him, and reached out to take the other two tickets. "Thank you so much," she told him. When he told her of another manga-ka to check out, Asiya pulled out a pen without thinking and wrote the name on the back of her hand so she wouldn't forget.

"Irie Aki,", Asiya repeated, checking her spelling to make sure she had gotten it correct. "I'll be sure to look them up." With her extra tickets in hand, Asiya slipped them into her purse with the other two she had gotten, and then disappeared further into the crowds. There was more to see and more to do, and she had the whole day ahead of her.

The artist was eager to see what else the event had in store for people.

As she thought of this, an idea came to her. She should check on Erin and see what she was up to.

Asiya dipped a hand into her purse and rummaged around for a moment. She then produced her cell phone and opened up her text messenger, so she could send Erin a text. Perhaps they could spend some time together during fashion week? Her message to the technician read:

Asiya's Text Message
Hey Erin,
How are you?
I hope you're doing well!
Do you have any plans to come to Fashion Week?
There's lots of cool booths and little games going on.
We should hang out there!
If not, though, and you're busy -- that's totally understandable.
I just thought to check in on you.
- Asiya

Autumn was not necessarily a professional designer, but that didn't stop her from being insanely hyped up for Ashdown's Fashion Week. She wasn't typically a bragger, but with her designer boots, thigh-high socks, and overalls, she looked DAMN good. Particularly with how on fleek her hair and makeup were today. It was a welcome distraction from the dread setting into her mind, and she was bound and determined not to think about any of it. She was just here to have a good time, damn it, and she was going to have it, Other Ashdown be damned.

And hey, maybe Chris or Lucas would be here? Didn't hurt to look good with cute guys around. Scanning the area, Autumn ambled her way around, taking in the sights of Fashion Week in her new town.
If anyone wants to talk to Autumn, just tag me!

Of course Aleksy's flower shop was represented. He wasn't terribly far from Cid, which was good, because it meant that Aleksy could watch the most entertaining show at Fashion Week. What weird thing would Cid put on his body today? What would the noodle-boy from the art shop be doing today when Mercer approached him? How much vodka could Aleksy drink before anyone noticed? These were the pressing questions of his time.

Unfortunately, there were rules about public consumption of booze. Beer could only be drunk in a certain area. Aleksy, therefore, was stuck with a sizeable bottle of water and some chocolate-covered macaroons from the candy shop.

Among his wares, which included small bouquets of wildflowers and tea roses, were several different varieties of live flower crown. He leaned forward over the table of his booth, cupped his hands around his mouth, and yelled, "Hey, Concord! Trade you a flower crown for a hat!"

Wil perked at Cid and then very mystically shook his 8 ball.

"Better Not Tell You Now." Wil tilted the ball so he could see and burst out laughing.

Nasir was given a lazy grin when he sat down, "Any questions need professional consultation on.. before I eat my snacks?"
