He didn't know where he was.

He didn't even remember how he'd gotten out of the Rift in the first place, except that somehow he'd managed it. Somehow, he'd dragged himself from the depths of purple shadows and blackness and gold eyes that seemed to sear into him, burn him from the inside out.

His gloved fingers dragged along the brick wall of a nearby building, and he felt the scrape of claws through the fabric of his gloves. He was hyper aware of the pounding of blood through his veins, of the shifting colors in front of his eyes, which were narrowed at his surroundings.

Everything felt different.

He kept moving, in some miscellaneous direction that he wasn't entirely aware of. Every small sound seemed to flicker in his senses, a hiss escaping past his clenched teeth, pressed together so hard his jaw was aching with the effort.

You don't belong here.

The faintest traces of a whisper through his hazy black thoughts, a growling sound pulled from his throat.

Try and stop me.

He was out, waiting upon his rooftop as he'd been prone to doing for the last week. Again, it was a quiet night and he wondered if the relatively rapid clean up and minor clippings in the news, likely due to a media intervention on the negaverse's behalf, had stalled his challenge. He had yet to engage with another person and, frankly, he was disappointed.

There was still too much idle energy buzzing in his bones, an aftereffect of the punishment he'd enforced upon his wild lieutenant and the aftermath. Sometimes, if he thought too much about it, he could remember the way his teeth felt against Wolfeite's skin. Labyrinthite had always been a fan of biting after all. He had not taken pleasure from the initial lesson but -

Things had a habit of imprinting on his skin, leaving him hungry when one part of him was left unsatisfied.

An unusual chaotic aura flared to life in his senses and immediately the general was on his feet, gold eyes narrowed, and lips twisted into the makings of a snarl. It felt wrong - broken to him in a way far different from the shattered aura of corrupts. Without hesitation he dropped from his perch, landing in a graceful crouch and sliding into a quick paced gait smoothly.

It didn't take him long to find the half-breed, for his eyes to rake across a familiar uniform and to see the ears and tail that protruded from his body.

"Wolfeite," he snapped, disappointment and hints of disgust in his voice. "What have you done?"

Fool, he couldn't help but think. You fool.

He felt the power signature like a virus under his skin, and somehow, instinctively, discerned who it was by sheer guesswork. The strength of it was evidence enough of someone powerful, but it was just his luck that it would be the one person that Wolfeite did not want to see.

The universe was not so kind as to give him even that.

He slowed his steps, hearing the disgust in Labyrinthite's voice and disregarding it easily. He did not care anymore what the General thought; his disappointment was not worth much of anything anymore, not after all that had happened in the Rift, not after the youma -

He forced himself to raise his eyes, a hiss escaping through sharpened teeth.

"What does it - look - like?" Wolfeite snarled, and remnants of pain were still clinging to him, a buzz against his whole body that made him ache and throb, that made his walking slower than it would have been normally. He wanted -

- he didn't know what he wanted. Not to be here. To fight. To eat. To do a lot of things.

"I proved myself," said Wolfeite now, tail flicking behind him. "That's all."

The general didn't know what he expected as far as a response but he knew that it was foolish to have thought that anything else would have come from the stubborn man's lips. Of course he thought that he'd done whatever foolish thing he'd hoped to acomplish but Labyrinthite had to wonder. Had Wolfeite even seen what he'd become?

"You've proved nothing," Labyrinthite countered, whiskey-gold eyes drifting across the altered appearance of what used to be his lieutenant. His aura was stronger, the signs of an increase in rank but at what cost? Now, now Wolfeite was doomed to what Labyrinthite thought of as a half life. "Except that you do not know how to listen."

But his general already knew that because despite the lessons he tried to impart, Wolfeite had still gone and acted as though he knew better. Perhaps it was time for another lesson.

He could not help but hope that if it came to that, then it would end the same way as the last one.

The older man stepped forward, eyes narrowed and lips pressed into a firm line. "Do you know what you are? What you've done?" He expected a yes with nothing to back it. "You've damned yourself in a way that I cannot help you fix."

That, naturally, begged the question of whether or not the general would help his wolf.

He gave a derisive snort that was more like a growl than anything else, low and rasping. Wolfeite's hair hung in dark strips against the sides of his cheeks, and the kerchief that was normally worn over the lower half of his face was loose around his neck, revealing a sliver of a cut along his jaw.

"I know how to listen perfectly well," he said now, rolling his neck. It felt stiff, the muscles tense. "What I choose to do with what I hear is entirely my own business, is it not?"

He flashed Labyrinthite a wide, toothy smile, too sharp and too strained all at once. But the twisted smirk faded as Labyrinthite stepped closer, and Wolfeite felt his chest tighten with a mixture of anger and wariness, his eyes narrowing, body rigid.

"I know perfectly well what I've - " He stopped, his teeth gritted together. He had not seen what he looked like; there were new features to himself that he could not see, but that he could feel, from the tail that he knew was curving low, flipping against one leg, to the ears on the top of his head, nestled in his dark hair.

What else had changed, he could not say.

Wolfeite was silent for a moment, an angry expression on his face.

"There was a youma," he said, sounding as though he had to force the words out, a flush of mingled humiliation and frustration on his cheeks. "I fought it. I lost, is that what you want to hear?"

"It is not," he replied curtly, reigning in his desire to snarl and pin the man against the wall by his throat. Later, he told himself, breathing in and out to calm the bubbling frustration. Labyrinthite could not remember the last time he'd dealt with someone so volatile, who would not listen or fall in line as they were supposed it.

The agitation made him grind his teeth.

Outside of that, Labyrinthite remained stoic and stood tall even and while they were similar heights, he still managed to loom.

"Oh, do you?" He sneered unable to keep his distance anymore, stepping into the newly-minted Captain's space. He didn't touch, not yet, but the threat was there and very, very real. "Have you seen yourself Wolfeite? You didn't just lose," he shook his head, reeling backward before he slammed the side of his fist against the wall beside them, the brick splintering and cracking like it was wood.

Labyrinthite didn't even look like the action phased him. "You became part of a youma." He might have idolized Tanzanite but Labyrinthite was not foolish enough to think that her strength came without serious drawbacks. "There is no coming back from that," he hissed, shaking his head. "Any semblance of a life you once had. You've damned it."

There were parts of the general that felt sorry for the half-youma because he'd been arrogant and foolish and it had gotten him exactly what he'd deserved.

Once the flash of anger had subsided, Labyrinthite returned his gaze to Wolfeite and reached out, grabbing one of the new animal ears between a thumb and forefinger. "You have ears and a tail. Your eyes are different too. You're weaker."

Stronger but with more weaknesses.

For what he knew Labyrinthite was capable of, the man was remarkably good at reigning it all in. Wolfeite could practically sense the anger and the control radiating off of him. It made his lip curl in a sneer, but he didn't make any move to approach him, remaining where he was even as Labyrinthite stepped closer (too close, too close).

There was a crack of brick beside him. Wolfeite let out a low snarl through clenched teeth.

"I know," he snapped, and it was part frustration, part anger, part humiliation - because, underneath it all, he knew somewhere that Labyrinthite was right and it was utterly, completely galling. Loathing rose like bile in his throat, but whether it was towards the General or himself was unclear.

"I can control this," Wolfeite said now, tone low and rasping, a guttural sound. His head jerked automatically as Labyrinthite's fingers tugged at his ear, the unfamiliar sensation of it hissing through his veins, sending a shiver down his spine, free ear flattening back against his dark hair.

He clenched his teeth so hard his jaw ached. "I am not weaker," Wolfeite said. "I can control this, use it to become better. I may have lost one thing, but I have yet to be broken, and I can use this now that I have it."

Not a gift. He knew better than that. A curse, perhaps, but one he could form to his will, twist to suit him.

Wolfeite snarled, words slipping between his teeth in a manner that made Labyrinthite shake his head, bear his own sharp canines. They would not do half the damage that the half-breed's incisors and canines would, with their enhanced sharpness, but he could do damage with them nonetheless. "Can you?" He asked with a tone that spoke of disbelief and uncertainty.

He couldn't even begin to know where to start with this development, how to address and care for it, because it was not something Labyrinthite had ever sought out or sought information on. While he was very much an attack dog for his mistress Metallia, he had never been willing to give up the semblance of a life he might be able to return to, not with such measures.

It was worse because he could tell that it was not what Wolfeite had wanted either. The brunet had been too determined that he could prove his worth, that he did not need his general and now - now he suffered the consequences. "You will be more susceptible to things, to what extent and what exactly I do not know," he stated, tongue pressing against his teeth as he absentmindedly played with the fur of the ear in his grasp.

It was surprisingly soft against his calloused fingers and he didn't notice the way he leaned in, crowded his subordinate. "Be wary of starseed consumption now that you've taken this form. You'll risk overloading your own and tipping the scales in the favor of the beast that has claimed half your form." That was about all the advice he had to give, the knowledge he possessed and it irritated him.

It appeared that the had a long stretch of research before them. "There is a timer attached to your - the person you once were. How long it lasts I don't know. We can find out. You'll need - you'll need to live somewhere else." Where could he house the half-youma without drawing attention to his energy signature. They would need -

A cat. He had a cat.

"You'll live with me likely. I have acquired a guardian cat who will be able to mask your energy signature when your glamour times out." He knew conning Silk onto his side had been a grand idea. "There is much that we'll have to learn from this."

For all the trouble that the man caused him, he was still one of Labyrinthite's. One of his and he'd be damned if he left him alone.

Can you?

He didn't want to think otherwise. Can't was not an option, not a goal, nothing but a useless, pointless, ridiculous word that was not a part of Wolfeite's vocabulary. He would learn to control the youma side of him, tame it, use it, because there was no other option at all.

He would not let this ruin everything he had worked for.

A hiss escaped from between Wolfeite's teeth, instinctively bowing his head to Labyrinthite's ministrations to his ear; a gesture that galled him, but seemed somehow ingrained into his new self so that it became automatic. A thrum ran through his body, almost like a growl, but not quite, tamped between sharpened canines.

He had not known of the consequences that came with what had happened to him; that he would lose his civilian identity, though that was hardly a loss. Being Archer Wren was less important than getting what he wanted - power - and having that taken away was more a nuisance than a loss.

His head jerked slightly under Labyrinthite's fingers. Wolfeite did not like the idea of being put under the general's control, to be in such close quarters - but he also, angrily, knew that he was right. He could not stay in the apartment now.

No matter. He had nothing of value there, anyway; Axton could take it, sell it, do whatever he wanted with it. Wolfeite would retrieve his laptop and then that would be that.

"...fine," said Wolfeite, in a low growl, teeth snapping together. "A solution. I will..acquiesce to it."

It was not done with much grace, but he was at least not fighting it.

Labyrinthite was too distracted with his own thoughts to realize the way Wolfeite leaned into his hand, the way he responded to his fingers sliding across furred ears and dipping to scratch at the base. There was a lot to adjust to, much information he would have to go searching for, and, reluctantly, he realized that he had to expose the room he'd been working on for the man earlier than he would have liked. That was unfortunate.

The general construction had been completed but hardly any of the furniture had been acquired, at best only the walls had been painted in deep reds with black, barren trees hidden in the colors and blackout curtains drawn over the glass sliding door he had put in that lead to a small balcony, to account for Archer's smoking habit.

The jerking of Wolfeite's head brought Labyrinthite's attention to him once again, fingers stilling but not lifting before he reached to hook a finger beneath the other man's jaw.

"It is an adjustment, but we will adapt." The general made it clear that regardless of what protests may arise later, Wolfeite was one of his and that regardless of his personal feelings towards his general, he wasn't going anywhere. "I am not as prepared as I would have liked to show you it, but I expected to have more time. Of course, you disrupted that." While the words were harsh, the tone was not.

"It appears that you'll have to assist me in picking the furniture for your room," his tongue pressed against the side of his cheek before he locked eyes with his subordinate. "Come, I think we should test the length of your glamour," he decided, wicked grin spreading across his mouth.

"I do hope this is a lesson you learn from captain," he added, searching the man's face before shaking his head. "Perhaps the wolf in you will understand the importance of pack."

He did not relish the prospect of being under constant supervision - but again, it was a sacrifice that had to be made. As much as it grated on his very bones to have to admit it, Labyrinthite had made good points; points that Wolfeite had not wanted to consider, had not even thought to consider.

A low, rumbling sound escaped him as the general's hand dipped to scratch at the base of his ears, and he hated that too; the fact that it was such an obvious, instinctive reaction that he seemed to have no control over anymore. A feral side of himself that was becoming stronger with each passing second, burning through his veins.

He felt a finger under his jaw, tilting his head up, golden eyes glowering at Labyrinthite, but Wolfeite didn't pull away. a gloved hand rose, fingers curling in the front of Labyrinthite's uniform, Wolfeite drawing closer - not that there was much distance to cover anymore - until their mouths were scant inches apart.

His expression was one of mingled anger, resolution, reluctant acceptance, and heat, Wolfeite licking his lips, canines sharp in the darkness.

Captain. He liked the sound of that.

"I don't particularly care for your methods of persuasion, General," Wolfeite spat, his voice rough as his fingers tightened in the fabric of Labyrinthite's jacket. "Just so you know."

There was a part of the general that, unlike his captain, liked the prospect of having Wolfeite underneath his roof. It gave him more access, more control something he knew, even if his wolf denied it until his face turned blue, the other man enjoyed. It would be a trial in itself but, it was a trial he was quiet pleased to take up.

Labyrinthite had always liked keeping his close. It was, after all, the reason he'd reached out to Fiona and began remodeling the second level of his large home. He would have to adjust, speed up construction and furnishing but that was far from his thoughts as Wolfeite grasped at his uniform, pulled himself closer. The hand scratching at the soft fur dropped, palm pressing against the brick that hadn't been fractured by his fist and the general leaned in, let his mouth hover above the other man's with the wicked grin shifting into more of a smirk, his own teeth flashing in the dim lighting.

His thumb pressed against the strong curve of Wolfeite's jaw, bright eyes flicking between matching ones and the lips the man was licking. There was a strong urging in him to close that distance between their mouths but he forced himself to wait. "See, your body language seems to state otherwise," he taunted, skimming Wolfeite's bottom lip with his forefinger while he licked his own lips.

He stepped forward so that his frame was pressing against the other man's, then he finally closed that space between them, pressed his mouth roughly against Wolfeite's in a firm, harsh kiss, daring to n** at his bottom lip when he pulled back. "Come, we can fight over this elsewhere," he instructed, hand on Wolfeite's jaw dropping to his hip, gripping tightly when he pulled him a close as possible, the look in his eye saying Challenge me, I dare you.

He thought of his apartment, and of what lay within it, wondering whether Axton would think to get rid of his things or whether he would keep them. The laptop would need to be retrieved, but other than that, Wolfeite cared little for the majority of his materialistic possessions. It wasn't as though he had a lot of things as it was, and now that he was merged with a wolf, it would likely be that some of his tastes changed.

There was no clear path to take, no knowledge of where this would take him, and he hated the prospect of going in blindly. But the damage was done - he was now partly a youma, and he would have to master it, take control of it, prove to Labyrinthite and the others that what he had done would be used to his advantage, twisted to suit his own needs.

He was entirely capable of this.

Labyrinthite's smirk was too sharp around the edges. Wolfeite felt his lips curl into a snarl, felt the unwilling heat in his veins as the general's thumb skimmed his lower lip, the sense of proprietary that the other man carried with him.

Wolfeite's growl was lost against Labyrinthite's mouth, fingers clenched in the front of his uniform tightly enough that his knuckles were white beneath the gloves. And Metallia damn the man, and his loathsome assessment, his quick judgement, the fact that he was ******** right, and yes, he hated him for that too, as well as himself, and everything else that was no longer under his control.

There was no space between them, and like last time, the kiss was all hard and possession and domination, nothing soft or gentle - nothing so vile and degrading as that. Wolfeite let out another low snarl, face flushed.

"Make me," he snapped viciously at the look in Labyrinthite's eyes.

A knee slid between Wolfeite's legs, pressing hard, when Wolfeite spoke and a low rumble of a chuckle vibrated out of Labyrinthite's chest and mouth. There was no denying that the captain had spirit, a fire in his veins and Metallia the general found he liked that. He couldn't tell if it was because it ultimately meant that he got to break the other man, make him bend his knee and submit, or if it was something else all together.

It was of little importance right now, as there was a slight hunger curling in his belly from the way Wolfeite was still trying to defy him even when they both knew who would win.

"Oh, it would be my pleasure to," Labyrinthite sneered in response, surging forward to claim another forceful kiss, mouth sliding down Wolfeite's jaw, fingers pushing that handkerchief down to give him access to his neck, teeth skimming across the sensitive skin. "Don't think I'll ever let you forget your place," he said, voice rumbling against the man's skin. Teeth found the juncture of where the half-youma's neck slid into his shoulder and his mouth opened, teeth grazing when he spoke again. "You're always going to be one of mine," he reminded, sinking teeth into that favored space, biting down hard enough to at least bruise if not to potentially break skin.

It was then that he teleported them, shifting the scenery from a deserted street to his bedroom with it's large bed and dark colored sheets. There he pulled back, licked his lips and locked eyes. "Time to test your glamour, among other things - perhaps a test of your...endurance."

He was stuck between the wall and Labyrinthite, pinned back against the bricks by the pressure of the general's body against his own. Wolfeite wanted to wipe that smirk off of his face, the heat of his mouth a stark contrast to the cool night air around them. Even as he fought against it, tried to suppress it, it rose within him like a toxin in his veins, Labyrinthite's teeth against his neck, words shivering across skin.

"Like hell I'm anyone's," Wolfeite hissed, feeling the sting of pain mix with the loathing, the pleasure, the anger, one of his hands sliding to grip into Labyrinthite's hair - whether to try and yank him away or drag him closer was unclear, considering all he did was tighten his grasp. "You son of a b***h."

But within a few seconds, they were out of the alleyway, and in Chase's room, and he was breathing heavily, eyes glowing with malice as he stared at the man in front of him. Wolfeite felt the tension in his body as sharp as a knife's edge, glinting and ******** b*****d," he snarled, but the glamour was pulled over him, and it was Chase who was grabbing his wrists, pushing him back onto the bed, mouth possessively hot against Archer's, and there was nothing he could do but submit.
