Kat and Prissy were on speaking terms again. She had undone the blogging chaos that the first of April had caused to Prissy in Pink and Priscilla, after realizing just how serious the sticker situation was to her (a few tears and heated words might have been involved), had agreed to help her remedy the trouble with her bike.
Currently she was sitting in a booth at Priscilla's place of employment, waiting for the pinkette's shift to finish so they could either head out on a patrol or get dinner-- Maybe get dinner and then head out on patrol. Katrina was scrolling through her phone and then she paused, brow furrowing for a moment as she glanced over at her friend.
"Priss? You've been picking up extra shifts lately-- Usually there's two of you here. I know it's been kinda slow while everyone's in school, but... Where's Danny?"
The pink haired waitress let out an exaggerated sigh, as if to emphasize her already outspoken irritation at being forced to work additional hours at the small cafe. In truth, it hadn't been necessarily difficult per se, she just didn't like being forced to work any more than she legally had to, to keep her job. “He went and got his dumb butt mugged a few weeks ago.”
“Mugged?”
Prissy’s eyes rolled at no one in particular while she finished cleaning off the counter top. “Right? Like who would expect anyone with a car beat up like his to have any money?”
Kat gave her a disapproving look, to which she shrugged her shoulders at. Maybe it was a crude thing to say, considering the circumstances, but in Priscilla’s mind, it didn't make it any less true.
She tossed the rag in the dirty linen bin hidden beneath the cashier’s station, feeling as if the shop had been cleaned adequately enough for one evening. Heaven knew she'd be opening the dumb thing in the morning - whatever she didn't finish this afternoon could surely wait for her arrival the next day.
Untying her half apron, she continued, “Yeah so anyways, he closed up shop one night and someone got to him right outside in the parking lot. Security found him laying next to his car a little bit later.”
The apron was tossed aside on the back table, no doubt waiting until her return. “So he's been in the hospital ever since. Haven't heard any update about him, but I'm hoping he'll come back soon - goodness knows I don't know what I'm doing with half of these machines.”
Katrina continued to stare at her pink haired friend as she spoke, disbelief clearly on the features of her face. Danny had been in the hospital this whole time and all she had to do was complain about work?
Well, yeah, Kat could see that, especially coming from Prissy, but…
“Mugged like I tried to mug you or actually mugged? Do you know why they've been keeping him in the hospital? They found him in the parking lot? Priss, c’mon, you have to have more information than that? Are you telling me you haven't gone to check up on him yet?” Katrina let out an exasperated noise, making her way over to lean on the freshly cleaned counter.
“Wait… Does that mean you guys are hiring?” Her brows lofted, hopeful. Sure, she was worried about Danny, but if finding something part time helped supplement her racing wins enough that she could stay out of her parents house all the time instead of just sometimes?
Kat shook her head, momentarily ashamed of herself for thinking like that. “You should go see him, Priss. What if no one has been by to check on him? I hear hospital food is pretty terrible too. No sweets? We could head over there to visit-- you could let me drive your car.”
She made a face, her nose wrinkling as she gave thought to going to the hospital - the smell of disinfectant and death wafting down each hallway - no, it was not something she had planned on doing anytime soon. “His Uncle drops by, tells us updates now and again but I wouldn’t call them updates since he isn’t even awake yet.”
Fetching her purse she unzipped the mouth of the bag and began rummaging for her set of keys. KittyKat was making her feel guilty over not at least checking on Danny, but things had been busy and she had been patrolling and it’s not like she didn’t like Daniel, she just…
Well, she just didn’t like hospitals.
Pulling out the keys, she sighed as she realized her conscience was getting the best of her. Leave it to Kat to drag her down into the mud of humanity and its crippling feelings. Sometimes she felt it would be easier if she hadn’t bothered making friends with people in this city, maybe she’d be off on a beach somewhere, sipping a pina colada and enjoying the view…
“Fine.” She slipped off the store key from the silver ring and tossed her convertible’s keys to her companion. “We can go see him, if you’re so eager to catch a virus or pneumonia or whatever is lurking in that hospital.”
She gestured towards the girl, implying it was time to close up shop. Kat was dutiful in following, happily clutching the keys to the Pepto Pink car that she knew Prissy rarely allowed anyone else to drive. The pinkette shut off the lights and closed the door behind them, only the faint glow of the display case shining through the windows as the door’s lock made a small schink sound.
Tossing the keys back into her purse, she shrugged. “I suppose - why, are you interested in working with me or something?” An amused smile played on the corners of her mouth.

Katrina gripped the keys tightly as she stepped out of the cafe, letting Priscilla shut the doors and lock up. She was much more excited over the prospects of getting to drive the convertible than she was pleased with knowing that she had managed to guilt Prissy into doing the right thing-- Visiting people was great and all, especially Danny because he was cute, but... Car. " No, I think working with you would probably be a disaster and might be terrible for our friendship," honest, but true, " buut... I could use the income. It'd be nice to be able to pack all of my stuff up and not go back to my parent's place." Also true. Her parents had barely known her before and now? Now she tried even harder to keep them from getting to know anything about who she was or what she did. If it wasn't for knowing that she couldn't afford the week to week rent at the extended stay hotel she liked to crash at when she had the funds she would've done it by now. "I mean, it wouldn't be too bad, would it? It's pink. I like pink. There's tea. I like tea. You're here... I don't entirely dislike you on most days." Katrina twirled the keys to the convertible on her finger while walking out to the parking lot alongside Prissy, momentarily ignoring the look that her friend was giving her. "Okay, okay... I actually like you most days. We're friends as long as you're not sticking candy in my hair. Fair?" The pinkette gave her a curt nod and she flashed her a grin in return, slipping her arm through Prissy's to drag her along a little bit faster. "Wait, though-- You said that Danny wasn't even awake? What the hell did the mugger do to him? He's still cute, right? Just sleeping? Maybe he's waiting for a kiss."

"Ew." Her arm slipped out from the firm hold that had captured it, pulling away as she moved to the passenger's side of the car. It was unusual for her to take the side seat, but after a rough six hours (an entire six hours!) of work, she was ready to kick up her feet and relax. "You can probably get a job as a barista, heaven knows I can't do that part." Pausing as she opened the door, she glanced over the top of the vehicle to toss a look at her companion. "You can kiss him, I'm not interested. I bet it's like kissing a dead body." Sliding inside, she dropped her purse on the floorboard and propped her knees on the dashboard. "But only if I can take a picture to show him later." She wasn't going to entertain the thought of Daniel not waking up again.

"Danny's cute, but..." She let the word 'but' sit there for a moment, stewing in the silence as she started the engine once she'd settled into the driver's seat. "I dunno if James would be all too thrilled about me going around kissing other guys." " KittyKat... Have you been holding out on me?" She glanced over at Prissy briefly as she backed out of the parking space, minding the speed limit through the parking lot before pulling out of the mall area and out onto the open highway. "Which hospital are we going to?" "DC Memorial. You're stalling." "James. Aluminite. He-- We've been hanging out. I told you about lunch, which I know you were supposed to be there for-- We went on a patrol the other night too; gathered some energy, probably made over quota for the week so I can share some with you too, but theremayhavebeenakisstoo..." Maybe, just maybe, if she ran enough words together Prissy wouldn't notice what she'd said.

It was probably good that the young woman was turning off on the hospital's exit because Prissy's hand fell on top of the shift and threw it into park. The car threw itself forward a foot before tossing both passengers backwards, the force shaking both girls, but startling Kat more than the culprit. "Details. Now." " PRISSY." The older girl sat back, arms folding across her chest as she allowed the driver to push the car back into gear, once again resuming the trek towards the hospital. "I want details. You're not supposed to get a boyfriend and not tell your best friend."

" Oh my god, are you trying to kill us?! Or your car. Us and your car? Do you have any idea what you could have just done?" Katrina cast a fierce glare at the pinkette who obviously didn't seem to care. There wasn't anything that she could do to the car that daddy wouldn't fix, after all and... Ugh, one of these days she was just going to steal the car and take it to a shop for someone to repaint. Daddy could buy Prissy another car and she would just take good care of this one and no one would ever know... "I wasn't holding out on you. I was... It's-- Complicated. He's not my boyfriend. He's just a boy," too old to be a 'boy', really. Man? Calling him that just seemed awkward when there was still so much boyish charm... "He's someone who needs to lighten up a little..." " And?" "And also someone who needs to have a little bit of fun. So I might have stolen his energy orbs and we might have played a game of keep away and then it just happened. We kissed." That was it, plain and simple. Right? No, not right. Not nearly enough information for the passenger who seemed like she was about to throw the car into park again, hand hovering over the gear shift. "And it was a great kiss. A really great kiss. But that doesn't mean anything. Kissing someone doesn't really mean you're dating them. He was just--- He was being too serious and kissing was the best way to not be serious anymore. That makes sense, right?"

"You're yammering." She glanced down at her fingernails, absentmindedly picking away at invisible specks, pretending as if she really didn't care as to her best friend's gallivanting. In truth, she did - she might have even been jealous, just a little bit - and was dying to pry for more information. But one wasn't supposed to look that eager when probing for information. "He was your first kiss, wasn't he." Side-eyeing her companion, she ignored the bright, neon white letters of the hospital as they drove into the parking lot. There would be plenty of time for loitering in the morbid halls of the government-funded building, she had to get a few more details out of KittyKat before they put on their Serious Faces. "And I'd consider anyone who kisses you back to be a willing participant in the boyfriend-girlfriend game..." Another look. Another smirk. "Do you want him to be your boyfriend?"

" No." Aluminite-- James wasn't her first kiss. Hadn't been her first kiss. Katrina had been kissed before but the kisses had been different and that was something that she wasn't sure she could actually explain to Priscilla in words that would make sense. She was used to the rough, demanding kind of kiss... Not the soft, sweet kiss she'd gotten from the other Lieutenant. "I-- That's a complicated question. Boyfriends... They make things complicated and I don't want complicated. I want to have fun so if I'm going to be with someone they have to be able to have fun too." She liked James and she very much wanted to spend time with him, but-- No, buts were silly, especially when she was obviously adorable and he was obviously into her and yes, Prissy was right, he had kissed her back. Hell, he'd kissed her in the first place. "I'll give you a proper answer to that once he's taken me on an actual date, alright?" She flashed the pinkette a smirk as she pulled into a parking space, giving the other young woman a gentle nudge. "Go on. Go check on Danny and make sure he's doing alright. Let him know I said 'hi' if he's awake and insist that he get better if he's not. You know he can't ever say 'no' to you, Priss." "Most boys can't." Priscilla made it sound as though it was a tragedy, fluffing her curls before slipping out of the car. "I'll be right back, KittyKat." "I'll be right here." She rolled her eyes behind her friend's back, turning the car off so that she could make herself comfortable for the wait. Just because Priscilla was going inside didn't mean she had to...
