OOC: The Nergui will be heading out towards the Tuait'tekam lands that were abandoned years ago by the lions who once lived there. The journey will take some time and their arrival will be announced through a future ORP. In the mean time it will be assumed that the Nergui are travelling together though they are free to also separate briefly meet with rogues etc... to encourage them to join. They will be doing their best to avoid other prides whilst they make this journey.

----

It was time.

Time to set of for new ventures and leave behind the echoes of failed ones. The Firekin were too much for them in their present state (though no one would ever admit it out loud) and with the arrival of a new lead it would have been folly to ignore it. No. The Firekin could wait for another day. The sun had risen on a new task; the abandoned lands of the Tuait'tekam. It promised treasure and parasites, both, and the horde needed something to put their energy in besides beating on one another.

Mchawi alighted the rock beside Rapha, lifting her head briefly to the early morning sky. It was flat and grey and as lifeless as the land beneath her paws. Her nose wrinkled in distaste and for a moment it seemed she might speak her mind...until the female beside her turned piercing eyes at her expectantly.

"Most have gathered," Mchawi declared in her usual clipped tones.

And so they had. Amongst the crowds were faces she recognised and some she did not. Lion and hyena. Young and old. Eager and bored. They were a strange people she had found herself amongst but so long as they could be manipulated like any other she was happy to be in their company. The witch shifted her weight and, with a short nod, moved slowly down to join the group. She was a high-ranking feline with experience of killing the false gods but she did not come even close to the esteemed Rapha.

Padding quietly across the sparse earth, she seated herself next to Tomorbaatar and their children. Her niece was nowhere to be seen - as was usual - but Mchawi knew she would be lingering.

"Graos Oma has spoken!" Rapha Oma's voice rang out with the undertone of an omen. "We will leave this place to the crows and move on. Anyone who is unfit to travel will be left behind. Perhaps the Firekin might happen by to grant them a fitting end." There would be no pity for the injured, sick or young. No one would stop them from carrying out their duty - not even their own brethren.

Rapha lifted her head and roared.

The horde returned it.

Keto grinned widely. He could feel the roars of the hoard as it vibrated throughout his body, tingling his toes and whisking at his ears. It filled him with a driven excitement. At last, as the group had discussed some time ago and come to an agreement on- the hoard would begin to move.

The hyena gave some sort of ‘yip’ noise as he did a small leap out of joy. It pleased him greatly that Graos Oma had heard their desires and found them worthy of listening too. Even if he hadn’t happened to have heard them he still had ended up believing that relocating was the best option.

’At last, at last, at last’ he sung merrily in his head. The brightly coloured hyena seemed to be happily bobbing his head, wagging his tail all the while thinking of the new exciting adventures that awaited the hoard in their new home.

Kurruvar slipped up beside Keto and, with a snuffling noise of a approval, bobbed her head in agreement. She was often seen shadowing their leader, Rapha, but today she was amongst the others, lingering near her own kind. She seemed to find Keto's enthusiasm infectious, her own tail swatting the air behind her.

"Legs strong. Jaws stronger. Let us hope for blood! The nohoi should lead the way."

---

Sarangerel, already distractedly looking for her children amongst the rabble, stepped aside just in time to avoid being knocked into by the dark-pelted hyena, her nose curling up in distaste. Did no one have any respect for a Founder-blood anymore?

Still, with her old mate dead, perhaps she could march at the head herself. As Emkurcar she had always been left behind. Thought of as too 'meek' and 'female' to make any sort of impact. But now with cubs grown and a new, handsome and worthy mate, maybe she could seek her own glory.

For Zizima, this move couldn't have come at a better time. They were finally leaving their conflict with the Firekin behind them, and moving on to lands which had been all but abandoned. Despite being known as the 'Grey Warrior', the scarred male couldn't help but feel relief at the direction the Nergui had recently chosen to take.

Perhaps relief wasn't quite the right emotion though. The Nergui themselves were still a volatile lot. There was Ovu and his ilk, those who would see him dead, and those who would take his mate for their own. Then there was Rapha, whom he didn't trust one bit. He was firmly against leaving the elderly and wounded behind, yet he did nothing about it. Not through any sort of fear, but because he only had one true priority within this group of misfits. His mate Sarangerel.

As he padded up beside her, he lowered his head to nuzzle her, before lifting it once more to eye those around her, his gaze falling on the dark hyena who had almost bumped into her. A low growl radiated in his throat, before he turned his attention back to his mate. "Are all of your children present and accounted for?"

User Image

After returning Rapha's roar, Ovu let out a sinister cackle. Although he had initially been against the move, preferring to stay and continue the fight against the Firekin, the idea had eventually grown on him. As powerful as he himself was, the Firekin were simply too many and too organised. It would've been foolish to stay. At least this way, they had a chance to regroup. Perhaps find some new slaves to practice on.

Ovu easily picked out Zizima amongst the Horde, being one of the biggest lions amongst them along with himself. He grinned widely, his bloodshot eyes flashing darkly as he considered what to do next. After all, it was going to be a long journey. He had to keep himself entertained somehow.

User Image

Although Hiana chose to walk with the other hyenas, he didn't really consider himself to be one of them. In fact, he considered himself to be superior to them. In his mind, he was the most intelligent and most resourceful of all the Nohoi, which more than made up for the fact that he wasn't the most physically intimidating amongst them.

The black and grey hyena smirked as one of his fellow Nohoi piped up, saying that they should lead the way. "Great idea, that." His voice oozed sarcasm as he spoke in Kurruvar's direction. Oh how it vexed him to have been born a hyena in a lion's world.

The light-maned hyena offered a smirk to Kurruvar in his approval of her statement. Before he could mutter a proper response though, Keto’s ear flicked with slight irritation at the sarcastic Nohoi a few steps behind them.
“So you would rather we fall behind?” He inquired, giving a short giggle of a laugh. Nohoi were important, Keto imagined the lions would be mostly alright if they decided to take the lead on this march. Even if they didn’t, they would be allowed near the front, which was more than Keto could say for some of the lions among them. Slaves in particular.

Kurruvar gave a small huff, drawing herself upright so as to appear bigger as Hiana made his way over to her and Keto. She was pleased with Keto's response, at least. The lions might believe themselves to have the upper paw but she knew better. The lions needed them more than they knew.

"The lions have no Worrurds to lead them on this march. Muunokhoi is dead. The other demoted. Who else but vanguard to walk at front?"

Mchawi, seemingly happy to make it known that she had been listening in gave a soft snort and said: "There will be promotions sooner than you think, Nohoi."

--

Sarangerel purred, leaning into Zizima as he made contact, turning her head to look at him - unaware of the dark brute, Ovu, watching on. "I believe so." She shook her head and took a step in the direction the horde seemed to be heading.

No doubt Tomorbaatar and those who had once lived in the Tuiat'tekam lands would be their guides.

"My son, Nokhoi, favours he shall win a duel to claim a lady." She paused, thinking hard. "I told him that he cannot win anyone if he does not seek help on his technique. He thinks he was born a fighter and does not need advice." Her eyes sidled slightly sheepishly towards Zizima then. "I...may have tried to plant the seed that you would aid him if he were to ask. Was I...out of line to do so?"

Daud'r rarely felt more vital and alive than when she was in the throng of the Nergui, screaming her passion and fury and her demand for more from life along with a hundred, a thousand more throats. The call to march sent a thrill up her spine; she was, perhaps, one of the few who had little but happy memories of their time near the Firekin. She had joined the pride, found meaning and her home here. She had fought several battles, winning scars and glory. She'd helped to personally kill a goddess. And she had held no personal love for anyone the pride had lost. It made her angry, to see those she considered 'hers' downed, but she had not felt the depth of what those born to the pride had at their loss.

She shouldered her way along, giving way for no one that she wasn't certain was her better. She stood out like a beacon, but so did her strength and pride. She'd do just as well for herself in this new home they went to as she had here, and she was beyond eager to get there.

User Image

Doxailol would give off almost the exact opposite vibe as the green lioness who shoved past her. The Firekin still stood, several of the Nergui's leaders had been slain, and her scars were tight and painful today. She hadn't had any certain visions of the place they were going to, beyond the usual dreams of fire and blood and rage. Those would simply be dreams of her father, however, his rage and insanity spilling over into her too-perceptive mind. All in all it had left her in silent, pulsing agony. Not enough to slow her steps, never enough to cause her to give up even the ghost of a signal that she was anything but strong, anything but devoted to the pride and its cause.

"For Graos Oma," She hissed under her breath, a promise and a threat in one. This pain was nothing. The wait was nothing. She'd find more glory in the sands they would come to call home, or burn out in trying. "Perhaps we'll find some pretty slaves along the way to pick our teeth and claws."

Chichäk hummed happily as the horde gathered, her brown tail flicking back and forth to the rhythm of her tune. Something was happening and that was exciting! The gold colored hyena gathered with her fellow Nohoi, eager to discuss what might happen at their destination. A new place to explore! New gods to hunt? The possibilities were endless. She listened as one of her fellow hyena suggested they lead.

"Oh please oh please oh pleeaaaase," she muttered in between her humming. That would be excellent fun.

The golden hyena was positively vibrating with energy.

------------------------------------

Gizem fell in with the rest of the lions, taking her place in the throng of the horde, awaiting further instructions to move out. The brown lioness held a blank expression. She was relatively new to the Nergui, having been found unconscious but alive by, having no memory when she awoke. Thus, she was ripe for converting. She had no qualms about what she had been taught so far, it all seemed logical. She was even given a new name, since she could not remember what she was called when she was asked.

She had neither enjoyed nor disliked their stay in the desert. It was simply matter of fact, a necessary part of their goals. So when it had been announced they were moving on she was neither excited or disappointed, she merely accepted it as fact. Gizem wondered what they would find.

Zizima snorted when his mate spoke of her son 'winning' a mate of his own. It was a shame that that was how things worked in the Nergui, but again, it was something he would just have to dislike in private. If it didn't truly affect him or Sarangerel, he had no real reason to object to it.

As she continued to speak about her son, he raised a brow in consideration. Nokhoi was the arrogant one, wasn't he? They may have had a rotten father, but they had had a fantastic mother as well. Whatever traits this boy shared with his father, Zizima was confident that in the end it would mean very little, if the boy was truly willing to learn.

When she was finished, he managed a small but reassuring smile in her direction. "You did the right thing. I'm sure you would sleep easier knowing the boy can defend himself." Although he was in no hurry to adopt his mate's children, he did feel some level of responsibility towards them. If Nokhoi asked for her, Zizima would give it.

Ovu continued to smirk as he watched the happy couple padding along. Of course, there really wasn't anything he could do to ruin their happiness, not whilst the whole pride was present at least. No, he would have to bide his time, which wasn't something the sinister male was particularly good at.

With that in mind, he then started looking at the fellow Nergui around him. There was quite a few faces that he didn't recognise. Not necessarily because they were new, but because Ovu was prone to doing things on his own, or in a very small group. He still mourned the loss of Muunokhoi. Not for any sort of friendship that they may have pretended to have for each other, but for the usefulness that such an alignment presented him with.

His bloodshot eyes widened as it dawned on him what he must do. He would have to ascend to the rank of Worrurd himself. Only then could he truly hurt Zizima where it hurt. Until such an opportunity arose though, it wouldn't do him any harm to find allies. Those with obvious strength, but potentially easy to manipulate. Time to do some research.

As he scanned the Horde, his eyes eventually fell on an offensively green and blue female. Strong and bold, she was practically barging her way through those around her, although she seemed to avoid certain members who were a bit more experienced. This told him that she was confident, but not so much that she would challenge one who she believed may be too much for her. He grinned and started heading towards her, his massive frame easily making a beeline for her through the crowds until he was striding at her side.

"Greetings."

Hiana rolled his eyes at Keto. "I would rather we not make easy targets of ourselves." Not that he gave a damn if one or two hyenas went on ahead, only to be taken out by scouts or some other wandering Pride. When Kurruvar spoke up, he turned back to her, looking her up and down with disdain before smirking once more. "Some of us are more important to the Horde than others."

The dark hyena thought much of himself, but was determined for the high-ranking lions of the Nergui to think the same. He hadn't made enough of an impact in their old lands, but it would all be different in the new lands, he was certain of it.

At Mchawi's words, he grinned widely, bowing his head respectfully in her direction as he did so. "Thank you, Kaar Oma, for sharing this information with us." Of course, promotions wouldn't necessarily affect the Nohoi, but it was still good to know.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 19, 2016 11:57 am

Chichäk’s positivity made Keto feel more… Eh, confident. Bold. He flicked a grin in her direction before he spoke “No Worrurds promotions right now though. Nothing stopping us from leading the march at this moment.” Keto allowed his voice to carry to ensure that Hiana couldn’t ignore his comment. Though the dark hyena had a point, it would do the Nohoi no good if the hoard’s lions felt inclined to beat up the group for being disrespectful to their lion leaders. Or kill them. Keto intended to survive the travel to their new lands and angering the lion superiors wasn’t going to help with that.

Other threats though? Not important. He imagined even a pack of rogues would quiver in fear as the bulk of the Nergui force treaded their way. He almost hoped such an event would happen, for it would amuse Keto greatly.

Hiana’s quip about applying some individuals carried more value than others to the hoard made Keto’s curiosity rise. Though Keto misunderstood his statement, believing the darker male to be referring to Kurruvar, not himself. He bobbed his head in the female’s direction, “She is smart. You need not worry for her well-being.”

User Image"What's this? Talk of leading the group?"

Los had overheard just the end of the conversation as he trotted up to the group of Nohoi that had gathered. His tail swung behind him limply, marking his comfort even with the hassle and uneasiness relocating an entire pride brought about. He never worried or fretted over large things, and things of this nature certainly didn't bother him at all. He gave those gathered an easy grin, ears forward and alert.

"I'm all for heading the charge."

Quote:

User Image Following her father, Krieg kept her mouth closed on the matter. She had no preference to lead or follow, but she did want to be among the first to see the new lands. She stood beside Los as he spoke to those gathered, letting them know that she'd go along with what her father said so long as it didn't become too inane. He was fearless, but that also made him brash and didn't allow for much thinking. She knew when to tread carefully and going into uncharted lands was a time to do just that.

"We should go where the lions need us," she finally said. "Whether that is at the front or the rear, it should matter not."

Quote:

User Image Gael's roar died away with the others and he tossed his head a bit in excitement. They were finally leaving this place. He was eager to see if there were flowers as he had been told of, but he supposed he'd have to wait for the rains to come to see if it was true. For now he'd focus on trying to stand out and step up to any challenges that were thrown his way. It seemed he wouldn't be sinking his teeth and claws into the Firekin any time soon, so he'd have to find other ways to gain the attention and respect of his fellow pride members.

He trotted along slowly, keeping an eye out for his friend. Surely Gren would be here soon, if not already mingling among those gathered?

Quote:

User Image "Mother, is this place far?" Saran asked after the group began to disperse, mingling among each other as they prepared to leave. She had been further from her mother to start, but had made her way over to her after the call had come to leave. Catching the end of the conversation, her ears twitched in amusement and a vindictive smile crossed her muzzle.

"What's this? Nokhoi, battle for a female?" She had to laugh at the thought. "He can't even get the burrs out of his mane. What makes him think he has the right to a female?"

All the hyenas! How wonderful. Sometimes it felt to Kurruvar that it was they - and not the lions - that made up the bulk of the forces of the Nergui. Still, it wasn't all bad. She did not mind the lions as much as some of her kin and the respect she had earned only made her like them more.

As Chichak also came to join them, she stepped aside to make room for her, bobbing her head in an agreeable fashion.

"Easy targets? We might not have a lion's size but that does not make us easy to pick off."

She nodded her head vigorously again at Keto, "All the smarts."

Behind them, Mchawi snorted and turned her attention elsewhere, ears turning to pick up on traces of other conversations that might prove more interesting than the babble of hyenas.

And that was when Furchtlos arrived on the scene - followed by his daughter, Krieg.

"I think the votes for leading outweigh the votes for not. I will march with you, Furchtlos Oma."

---

Sarangerel smiled warmly, "Thank you, daor. I had hoped that you would not mind. Now let us hope that he will come and ask you for advice. I worry for him with his pride the way it is. Perhaps after a beating or two he might come to see the wisdom in seeking you for some teaching."

She paused as her darling daughter arrived on the scene, stepping aside so that the three of them could see each other easier. At her daughter's amusement, she gave a faint smile, leaning in to nuzzle her gently. "He thinks it because his pride gets in the way. I fear he must learn this lesson the hard way. He has his eye on some female - though he wouldn't say who." At that she glanced around as if trying to pinpoint who it might be. Failing that, she returned to the original question.

"I have no idea how far this place is, dearest daughter. The name means little and the shuko who found it roams far and wide." To Zizima she asked: "Have you ever come across this land during your travels?"

---

Gren, was being her usual hulking self, watching some of the horde already moving out and getting up to follow them. It was amusing, somehow, to watch how she tried to shrink her bulky form so that she might go unnoticed; head low and shoulders hunched, her back arching from the effort.

So focused on not tripping on the lions and hyenas moving in front of her, she did not notice the young male - Nokhoi - watching her carefully from a few paces away. Nor did she notice Gael as he sought her out amongst the crowds.

It was somewhat surprising to him that his mate would consider allowing for her son to learn the hard way. That's how he himself had been forced to learn, and although he almost died as a result, in the end it only made him stronger. If Nokhoi was destined to learn the hard way though, the least he could do was be there to pick up the pieces. "I guess we'll have to wait and see if takes what you said to heart."

As Saran, Sarangerel's daughter and namesake, arrived, Zizima gave a nod of acknowledgement. She looked so much like her mother, and she had a good head on her shoulders. If any male sought to 'claim' her against her will, they would have to go through him.

When asked if he had ever come across these lands before, a thoughtful expression crossed his face. He knew it was possible that he had, but at the same time, he felt he would know about it if he had explored these particular lands before. From what the Nergui knew of them, they were somewhat unique, containing structures unlike nothing most lions had ever seen. Surely he would remember such a place?

"I'm afraid not, my love."

Hiana let out a brief chuckle at Keto's inability to spot an insult when he heard it. Also, the idea that he thought that he would in any way be worried for any of his fellow hyena was truly laughable. In reality, Hiana would be a lot happier within the Nergui if he was the only hyena involved.

"The only concern I have regarding Kurruvar is whether or not her so-called 'smarts' are contagious." The dark hyena let out another chuckle, which escalated into a more hyena-like cackle. At the arrival of yet more Nohoi, Hiana quieted down, a deep frown touching his face. Was there always this many hyena in the Nergui?
PostPosted: Thu Apr 28, 2016 6:04 pm

It was hard to miss the blood-and-bone red lion shifting towards her through the throng. He was large, parting the pride around him like a boulder in the run of a river. Were they afraid of him? Did they respect him? Or were they just normal people who typically wouldn't want to walk into someone? She'd never been one for terribly deep contemplation, and the wonder of his approach flittered away on the murmurs of the marching mob. If he was to be feared, he'd show it soon enough. If it was respect, well, he'd not earned it from her yet. Time would tell, and save her the trouble of trying to untangle the knot of the matter.

"And to yourself," She was blunt, not rude, usually. "You need something, or just come to enjoy the view?" Okay, so she was a bit cocky too. And obviously foreign. Her accent marked her plainly as a lion that had joined the pride at some point, not one born in, but her confidence made it clear that the joining had been on her terms, and not under the title of slave. She flicked the thick braid her tuft of hair had been bound into out of her face and eyed him up and down with plain interest. At least she wasn't going to be bored on this long march.

Los looked around at the hyenas that were gathered, his tail flicking back and forth with delight. He liked that there were so many hyenas - quite a few of them that weren't present were his own offspring - and he felt as though they were an important part of the Nergui. His own daughter had played a huge part in both the deception and the take down of the goddess that they had hunted a while back.

"The front it is," he said with a delighted bark, grinning at his fellow hyenas. "Those that wish to hang back can stay to the rear of our group, but we'll lead the charge to our new home."

---

Krieg huffed softly at that but would do as she was told...for now. She'd hang to the back, certainly. Perhaps she could relay messages between the groups if the hyenas got too far ahead. Flicking her tail, she turned to figure out where the lions were heading so she could move to the front of them.

---

Finally Gael turned and spotted Gren. She didn't look to be actively seeking him out, but that didn't deter him at all from walking over to her. He smiled as he approached, bobbing his head in greeting.

"A nice day to head out, I think. No dust storms, not too hot...I'm excited to walk." He lifted his front paw to give it a shake, then his hind leg to stretch out. "Mind if we walk together? I feel like we could kill some time by talking."

---

Saran gave a little 'hm' as her mother and Zizima both said they didn't know how long the journey would take. She glanced out to the horizon, a little frown on her face. "Well. I suppose we'll find out," she said as she gave her tail a flick. "Hopefully it won't be terribly far."
