Suhailah was running for her life with a rabbit in her jaws. She had once again managed to find trouble to get into. She never meant for her actions to turn into trouble, but that seemed to be how things went for her.
The day had started off normally enough with her waking up to a bright sun and a growling stomach. The lioness had spent a fair amount of time that morning attempting to hunt down breakfast for herself but to no avail. It seemed that she'd wandered into an area that was fairly dry and sparse of life. The few patches of grass around were brown and straw-like and the only birds she'd seen were vultures.
It was definitely not a place that she would be staying in for long. At some point, Suhailah came across a sizable hyena that was dozing next to a couple rabbit kills. The lioness hid herself behind a rock nearby and observed the predator. Driven by her hunger, she thought that she could get away with snagging a rabbit furthest away from the hyena.
However, once she crept close enough to grab one, she wound up staring straight into angry yellow eyes. The only thing she could do was take off running.

Propped up next to probably the only tree for miles, Nakisisa's eyes sluggishly watched the horizon. He had gorged himself on an antelope the night before and felt quite content with life. The larger male had preferred to hunt at night - since he was without a pride or any travelling companions, he found hunting during the day too exhausting and generally not worth the effort.
Stretching out his large paws, Nakisisa glanced down at the light scarring on his forelegs, briefly remembering some of the territory fights he'd gotten himself into. It was another reason for his night hunting - he could keep his eyes peeled for potential danger during the day, and then slip in and out of any unfriendly territory at night to get himself fed. He'd thought about possibly joining a pride once or twice - but none never really quite stuck with him.
Green eyes returning to the horizon, he thought he saw something move. With the bleak landscape, however, everything just seemed to blend together. He'd hoped that it wasn't anything he needed to worry about, but Nakisisa was a lion that, when push comes to shove, stood his ground no matter what. So if there was impending danger, he'd begrudgingly face it.

Suhailah was desperately trying to think of a way to get out of the situation that she'd gotten herself into. The hyena was still on her heels. She was moving as fast as she could and was beginning to get tired, she had to think quick. Was one little rabbit really worth all of this trouble?
Suhailah's eyes lit up as she spied a large looking lion in the distance and an idea popped into her head. Halting suddenly, she quickly spun around a smacked hyena in face with her claws. It retaliated in anger and they scuffled for a moment before she managed to get an upper hand.
"Hey flea bag! See that big guy over there? Well he's part of my group and the others aren't far away. You better back off before they show up!" Her opponent hesitated at the idea of taking on a group of lions by itself. Finally, he sneered at her and took off to return to his other kills.
The lioness sighed in relief. It had been a long shot but her bluff had worked. Suhailah approached the male whose presence had been invaluable to her. "Hey, I know I just showed up out of nowhere, but thanks for being here when you where."

Bearing his teeth in a yawn, Nakisisa's eyes perked up a little as he noticed a bit of a commotion - so that's what the movement had been. His ears slowly moved towards it, though the rest of him remained entirely unalarmed. They seemed to be fighting over something; a lioness and a hyena. What an odd match. Though, the two species weren't really known for being friendly.
Oh. Suddenly, it was all over. Well, at least it was something to break up the dullness that filled most of his days. Wait, was she coming over? Was she planning on fighting him for something? Maybe he accidentally stumbled into her territory. Nakisisa wasn't worried about winning - with his size and fighting experience, it'd have to take a pretty skilled lioness to beat him. But the thought of having to deal with the whole thing was unpleasant.
Just as he was fiddling with the idea of how to best avoid conflict, she spoke. Thanks? What had he done for her? "Glad I could be of some use." He leaned up closer against the tree beside him, his eyes watching her. Was this some kind of trick? Or had he actually helped her out in some way? "Though I'm a little unsure as to what that use was." He raised an eyebrow at her before flopping on his side; he'd decided that if she was going to try and fight him, she would have already tried to attack.

Suhailah chuckled at the confusion that she could see on the male's face at her statement.
"Well, I basically used you to scare that guy off. Told him that we were part of the same team and whatnot. I kinda ripped him off earlier, so I was trying to get out of the situation without too much damage being done. You basically saved my hind just by being there," she explained with a shrug.
She absently rolled her eyes at herself. Her impulsive actions had gotten her in trouble once again. Not really much of a surprise, but still off-putting.
"I'm Suhailah," she said, deciding that she should at least give her name.

"A team, huh?" His eyes trailed off towards where the hyena had been. "Well that's quite the idea." So she was a crafty lioness - he was impressed. He had never been very good at thinking on his paws like that, which is largely the reason why he relied on his size and strength in any conflict. Probably not the best strategy.
Leaning back up, Nakisisa gave her a lazy grin. "Well, I'm glad I could be of assistance, Suhailah." His ear twitched and he brought his paw up, scratching at it slowly. "The name is Nakisisa." It had been awhile since he'd run into anyone that didn't want to just steal his food and run; a nice change, he thought. "If you'd like to stay and enjoy the shade, be my guest." His green eyes looked directly at her, trying to be sociable for once.

"You always gotta stay sharp out here. It's nice to meet you Nakisisa, and I would like to rest for a while if you don't mind, I'm pretty beat," she said as she sat nearby.
With a deep sigh, she began to relax and catch her breathe as she covertly studied her new acquaintance. It was nice to run into a friendly face every now and then out here. Although the lioness also knew that it was because of those like her that made others hesitant to be friendly in the first place. Well, you had to survive one way or another out here.
"So, where you from? Around here?"
