Gently phasing as she sat on the bench, Janine knew that she needed to reign in this nervousness. She had invited Skylar to the park, hoping to give her a small gift, but this was ridiculous. Sure the nixie in question was beautiful, but she had a mission, a goal. Besides, how could she make any progress if she just sat back and twiddled her thumbs? Friendship first, then maybe she could pursue the object of her affection. All of these thoughts ran through her head as she pet the furry gift in question. Thimble had had a litter and she knew that Skylar would make a good owner. Hopefully she’d accept the offer.

Skylar hadn't been expecting to be invited out by the sweet Geist she'd met at her student lecture, but she wasn't exactly complaining. She didn't go out too often unless she was getting coffee with Masaru before she had to run off to class or if she was out in her garden. Or swimming. Okay, so she went out, yes, but usually not with anyone else. She was usually on her own.
But she wondered what Janine could want. By the Nine, would Janine ask her on a date? Was this a date? The Nixie blushed and fought to compose her thoughts. Surely not. They'd met only recently, and while they hit it off, they had to get to know each other. So maybe that's what this was.
She saw the Geist in a shady spot near a tree and approached the bench with a smile, raising her hand in a greeting. "Yo."

With a soft smile she waved, at least one hand on the furry bundle. Maybe not bringing a cage was a bad idea? Thimble and her little ones had been raised without one and she never had any issues with destruction or running away… They were beyond calm.
She really didn’t think it through as she was trying to sort everything out and to calm her nerves. Great way to start off, huh? “Hi Skylar, thanks for coming on such short notice” She wanted to offer a compliment, but she didn’t want to sound like a creep. One step at a time.“How have you been?”

"No problem, I was free today so it's all good, Jani." The Nixie gave her a smile and walked a bit closer to the Geist. She noticed movement in her friend's lap and she looked down. "Aww! How cute!" She knelt down to see the bundle of fur. "Is this your pet?"
Skylar loved familiars, she had two back in her apartment. Ugh, so cute!

She really enjoyed the nickname, but she didn’t quite know how to express that. With that, she let the flitterrat hop into Skylar’s hand, smiling gently. At least they seemed to like each other, which was a start, right? The young flitterrat was eager to crawl about. They really were smart critters, it was amazing.
“Well, this little one is why I asked you out today! My flitterrat had a litter of pups and I was wondering if you might be interested in one of her kids.” That wasn’t sudden or abrupt at all. A+ job, Janine. “You don’t have to say yes if you’re not interested. I just thought it would be nice if I could give one of these guys to my good friend.”
((Just use this post and their drop for homing <33))

Skylar was started when the flitterrat suddenly started crawling on her but she giggle, gently booping it's nose when it came up to her shoulder.
"I'd love to take this little cutie home! Are you sure?" She returned her attention to Janine, smile not once faltering. This was nice, and Janine had given her a gift... Maybe she could...? "Hey... Do you want to go get a coffee?"

As the flitterrat made it's way onto Skylar's shoulder, Janine couldn't help but grin. She was so happy that they were getting along! "Completely sure. You've been a good friend and helped me decide that I wanted to go to Leviathan." She glanced away for a moment, "You've been a big help and besides, they really seem to like you!"
She perked up at the offer, eyes nearly widening at the offer, "Really? That would be great!" Oh gosh, would that make this a date? Hold your horses, Janine. It’s just coffee with a friend. That’s normal, that’s not completely date-like. Even the notion of it made her heart a flutter.
