Dhan brought his guitar with him to Nasir's house, because his friend-slash-coworker had expressed an interest, and it was a lot lighter and easier to carry than his keyboard or... nah, that was about it on cool instruments he knew how to play. He could work with flutes and he was ace with percussion and he knew his way around a violin, but people tended to be most impressed with the guitar, and he wanted Nasir to be impressed by him. Which was also why he was wearing pants and had his hair tucked up in a beanie. He hadn't yet explained why he preferred to keep his hat on, or even really thought of why he thought it needed an explanation. His father was a good man, who had never ever disparaged Dhan for his choices, but he had instilled a sense of caution in his son. He stopped at what he thought was the right house. He'd looked it up on GoogleEarth, which was basically perfect for someone like him anyway, and this sure seemed to be it. So Dhan knocked, and hoped--if it wasn't Nasir's house--whoever was inside would be amenable to giving him directions.

Nasir was actually in the process of trying to clean up the first floor of the house. Especially the room they used for arts and music playing and ... He let out a breath. It was a project but he was not working today and Wil had classes and the other two housemates weren't around ... Not that he really needed to, they kept the place clean but sometimes he got into random cleaning sprees. Especially when he was alone. The knock took him by surprise, since he was not paying attention to the time, and it was a barefoot shorts and tee shirt wearing Nasir that opened the door. His hair was actually pulled back into a small ponytail. (That was how he knew his hair had gotten too long if he could do that with it. His hair, on its own, got much to wavy and curly when it was longer.) His expression visibly brightened when he realized it was Dhan and he grinned widely. "Dhan! Hi!" Then he noticed the guitar and that grin got wider. "Come in!" he was pushing the door open all the way. The house smelled like well, cooked food right now. Only because Wil wasn't there but if anyone went towards the living room (or the third floor) that particular smell would become obvious.

"Sorry," said Dhan, who cottoned on pretty fast to social cues like your host is still in cleaning clothes. "I, um. I'm probably early. I think I left early." He wasn't sure. Oh, hell, what if he was early? ********. That was probably horrendously uncool. "You said you'd like to hear some of my stuff, so I figured I'd bring my guitar over?" He'd sent Nasir some of his in-progress stuff, and that Marina remix he'd mentioned. Hopefully that was enough of a CV.

"Actually I think you're on time." Leaning back, he closed an eye and squinted towards the digital wall clock. What did that say? It was just a little bit blurry but then it finally focused. "Yeah, definitely on time. I just kind of got distracted with cleaning." Nasir was putting an arm around Dhan's shoulders and directing him inside, door shut with a push of his barefoot. "I liked what you sent me! Especially that remix of Prima Donna Girl. If you ever do one of Savages ..." He whistled low. "The stuff you were working on was pretty sweet too!" He did not really think about the clothes as cleaning clothes. More or less comfy around the house things - even if the shirt was possibly some anime thing that Wil had gotten him (it was totally Sen and Haku from Spirited away) - and not all that big of a deal to be caught it. "I can make us something to drink and you can set up and ..." He peered very seriously at Dhan. "Fruit smoothies. Fresh. Favorite fruit? I might have it." You never know.

Was Nasir nearsighted? He kept squinting at things. Dhan thought on that for a moment as he followed his friend inside, happily leaning into the arm around his shoulders. "Um, strawberry, probably," he said. "They won't be in season for a while, though..." He was just gonna follow Nasir for a while. The acoustic guitar didn't take long, and he'd already tuned it before leaving.

"... remind me to see if I can find you some pineberries to try," Nasir spoke, leading Dhan with him to the kitchen. It was a fairly large kitchen, an island counter in the middle with a stove and some stools around it for sitting. "Which don't taste like pine, they're ... strawberries that taste like pineapples." Which was weird but they were pretty good. When you could find them. With a warm, friendly squeeze, Nasir let go of the other and nudged him to take a seat. "I probably don't have strawberries. Not for another month at least, but I've got a couple pomegranates and some kiwis ..." He was at the fridge then, pulling things out. "Bananas obviously." They were a base for smoothies.

That sounded kind of ******** up to Dhan. Like something someone might make if they were high. "Um, whatever you want to make? I'll try anything once." The corners of Dhan's eyes crinkled up, shading the pale grey a bit darker and bluer. "Foods that get described as 'x but tastes like y' always seem weird to me," said Dhan. "It's like saying a qitara and a guitar are the same thing because they sound the same. You know?"

"They are a bit weird. Like ... ah, kiwiberries? They are berries that you bite into but taste like kiwis? Super weird." Nasir was making a I don't even know what to do with that face before he laughed. He only liked pineberries because he liked pineapple. "... but trying everything once is kind of a thing for me, so I want to offer that to others." Then he was thinking about the qitara and the guitar thing. It kind of made sense to him. "I think sometimes when it comes to food people get a little ... Frankenstein." Genghis Khan as well but he did not say that. " Well," he paused a moment. "not just food but pretty much everything. Today it's just going to be simple." Which meant bananas and then some peaches. The mentioning of strange mixtures meant he was thinking more plain things. Bring forth the smoothies, please.

Dhan grinned. "It's like durian, right? Who looked at that and thought, 'I'm going to eat it'? No, better... who smelled it..." He brushed his bangs out of his eyes. "I would like to try them sometime, though. If you ever find any."

"Yes, exactly like that." Nasir laughed. "Who even thought about it, really? Some of the things they mix seem like those crazy thoughts you get late at night." The ones that were harebrained and best to probably ignore but people went with anyway. "I get my hands on any of them again, I'll definitely let you try them." He was chopping the fruit up with a knife, pressing the pieces off with a finger into the blender. "I'll get these smoothies made and then you can let me listen to what you've been working on." Totally looking forward to that song he heard the beginnings of at work.

"Nightblogging, but with a possible side effect of getting poisoned and dying," agreed Dhan congenially. He looked down at his side, where the guitar in its soft case waited. His stomach flopped over, once. Performing for people he knew was nerve-wracking, but he was sure that if he sucked at least Nasir would tell him politely. Instead of worrying about it (he knew he had talent) he watched Nasir move with elegant economy about the kitchen. "Sounds fair," he said.

"I have a pretty strict personal rule about staying off tumblr after 2am. Tumblr hell is no joke." So many posts, so little time, and it all just lead to him getting less sleep. Nasir was not like Wil, who slept whenever he got the chance, and frequently could be found sleepless if he was not careful. The blender was turned off, the smoothies poured into cups and one slid over to Dhan. It was a quick clean up before he was tilting his head towards the door way. "Living room may be more comfortable for you to sit and play, I think." Nasir might have been a little excited to hear music, okay.

Dhan sipped his (extremely yummy) smoothie. "I go to bed at eleven, except when I'm working," he said. "Gotta get up early to shower and brush my hair." Which, absent the context of Dhan's butt-length hair, made no sense, and he colored when he realized that. "I mean... you wouldn't think it's... yeah, I'm shutting up now." In the living room, he found a coaster and set his smoothie down. His guitar came out of the softcase, an old and well-loved thing. It had been a gift from his mother's partner, whom he had only met twice, both of them. He loved the instrument like it was his own child, and it showed in the possessive way he caressed its neck, checking string tension. "I tuned her before I came over," he explained. Playing in person was sort of nerve-wracking, especially when it was private like this. He grinned self-consciously and plucked out the first few chords of Hotel California. "Sorry. I'm used to playing for my sister, or else the faceless multitude."

"I keep ... strange hours, I think." Nasir shook his head. "I mean I try not to but I do anyway ..." Dhan was given a look, especially at the comment about his hair. He honestly had a sneaking suspicion that Dhan might not be Rapunzel but ... Well, whenever he felt comfortable talking about it. He was a few steps behind Dhan and was setting his drink down on a coaster as well before nudging the table out of the way. It was frequently moved around - that was why it had those little slidy things on the feet - and sat himself on the floor once it was out of the way. It was totally so he could sit down and lean back on his palms while Dhan played. There was a low whistle at the guitar being unveiled. It looked nice. "Well ... I think there's some kind of faceless model mask thing I could go get if that'd help," Nasir offered, before he thought better of it. Instead he just fell the rest of the way backwards and threw an arm over his eyes. "There, see, now I'm just listening and not watching." Fingers flicked towards Dhan. "Should be easier?"

Dhan laughed. Then he felt bad about laughing, and that made him laugh more. (It didn't have to make sense.) "Okay, well... I've been working on this one for a while, and I think it needs ears other than my sister's. I don't, like, think of you as a girl or anything," he said, and he was still red about the ears when he adjusted his posture and started a slow-paced cover of a modern love song.
