It had been some time since she had taken a break from overseeing the new members of her glory, and she was enjoying her time alone. The sun was overhead, slowly making its way toward the far horizon, and the wind coming off the water was cool enough to keep it from being a scorching, hot day. She was wading chest deep in the breaking waves when she heard another uni approaching from the edge of the tree line. Turning to see if it was one of her glory members, or someone else she might know, she was surprised to realize she didn't know this male. She stopped, letting the waves crash around her legs, as she waited to see if it was his intention to approach her.

When Primavra had awoken that afternoon it was to a pleasant surprise. The meadow he had bedded down in earlier that morning had bloomed into a riot of color as he napped. He rolled over onto his back and scratched an itch, making sure to drape his mane and tail through the flowers so as to pick up their scent. When he was satisfied with his rolling he stood, shaking himself, and with a spring in his step headed toward the beach to cool off. When he broke the tree line there was yet another surprise awaiting him. He paused for a moment to appreciate the way the gorgeous mare glistened in the sun as the salt water splashed her coat. Not wanting be caught standing there gawking rudely at her he moved to the shore and called a greeting. "Hello there! Lovely day!"

So he was going to intrude on her solitude. Well, she would be polite and see what it was he had in mind. Perhaps if he wasn't associated with a glory, she would be able to entice him to join hers. She could use more stallions at the moment. Too many mares were finding their way to her little slice of the Wood. She had to admit though, he was very handsome. She found herself musing about what sort of children they might make together. "Yes. Yes it is. Very lovely. And who might you be? I haven't seen you around here before."

What a lovely voice she has, he thought to himself. He gave her a friendly open smile, obviously pleased at her curiosity of him. He stepped into the water a little aside from where she was standing so as not to crowd her. "I am Primavra. My friends call me Prim and you may too if you would like. I haven't seen you around here before either. Then again, I don't believe I've been around here before." Chuckling inwardly at his own little joke he stepped further into the water until the crests of the waves brushed his belly with tickling fingers. "As we've never met before, is there anything I may call you?" He looked at her straight on across the little distance of water between them, his eyes sparkling with amusement, almost as if he could read her mind.

"You may call me Romana, as that is my name. In all honesty, I have not been to the beach in quite some time myself, so the fact that I have not seen you here before is understandable. You see, I lead a glory, and my time of late has been taken up with organizing its members and training the newer members." She was tossing around the idea of asking if he belonged to one himself, but she didn't want to seem too forward, too soon. She was just about to say something else when a wave caught her off balance and she found herself falling into the water, her feet being pulled out from beneath her.

He listened to her intently his gave never leaving her eyes as she introduced herself. Despite the fact that she was still talking he had to try out her name in his head a few times. Savoring it. Associating it with her. His attention was pulled back to the conversation when she began to talk about her glory. He felt admiration at the work it must take to manage one. He was so intent on listening to her that when she began to go down his reaction was delayed. He made to leap forward to give her something to brace on but the rogue wave caught him too and under the water he went. When he managed to regain his footing he sputtered and said some impolite things about water imps as he tried to flip the mane out of his eyes. Once reoriented he looked around to see how she had fared.

She had no time to regain her balance as the wave swept over her head. She quickly found her footing and righted herself. She hadn't planned on a full bath, but it seemed the wave had other plans. She blew water out of her nose as she realized that Prim was no longer standing across from her. Just as panic began to take hold in her heart, his head cleared the surface and he stood up. It was clear he was just as surprised by what had happened as she was by the things he was saying. She was about to agree with him when he whipped his mane around and water came flying into her face. Her lady-like manner almost cracked, as she almost began sputtering about impolite stallions, but she collected herself and simply stood there letting the drops of salt water drip from her face. "Feeling better now?"

He stood staring at her with wide eyes, looking soggy and a bit pathetic. "Well that was refreshing. " He opened his wings and tried to shake the water out of them. After deciding it was a hopeless cause he let them flop into the water at his sides. "Sooo. Good thing I wasn't planning on going anywhere any time soon. These things are useless once wet. Too heavy to use. Makes rain rather inconvenient too. Anyway. Are you alright?" He looked genuinely concerned as he eyed her up and down as if the wave had purposely attacked her.

She waited for the last few drops to fall from her face. Watching him try to shake the water from his wings made her appreciate the lack of them on her own back. She appreciated those who could fly, as they were invaluable to the Wanderers, but she would not trade her bare back for a pair no matter what she was offered. "I'm fine...now. Why don't we leave the waves to their play and dry off on the warm sand?" She pulled her feet out of the wet sand she had started to sink into and made her way out of the surf and up onto the beach.

He wasn't quite ready to leave the water yet. He rather liked the way it felt running through his coat in rivulets as it drained from his back. Since his wings were already wet it would be a waste to not enjoy it for a moment longer. However, as he watched her walking away he found himself wanting to follow her, unwilling to stop their chatting. With and inward shrug he lifted his wing from the water again and gave them a good shake before pulling his own feet free and trotting out of the waves, enjoying the way the water splashed as his feet struck it. "The sand may be warm," he commented, "but it sticks dreadfully when you're wet." He lifted a sand crusted hoof and wiggled it in distaste. He set it back in the sand and refixed his attention in her. "So you were say you lead a glory?"

She deposited herself on the sand, and was rolling around in its warmth. The sand on her back felt like the warm caress of a lover. She heard him speaking, and his voice, deep and full of vibrato, echoed in her ears like a song. When she opened her eyes, it was to find him standing over her, staring at her belly. She quickly righted herself and laid there feeling the warmth on her stomach. "Well, you are correct about the sand, but once it dries, it's very simple to shake it off. That's assuming you don't want to go for another swim and simply wash it off." She gave a small laugh and went on to answer his other question. "Come, sit down and relax. I will tell you all about my glory if you wish to hear. But I would much rather hear about you. I take it you don't belong to one. I'd be interested to know what you do with all of your free time.

He shot another dubious look at the shimmering warm sand. "Well, I do suppose, since we will be here a while, that I may as well." He bent his knees and lowered himself unceremoniously to the ground. Once down he found that he'd did rather enjoy the way it felt. He shifted into his side and just lay there sunbathing for a moment. His wings spread open across the sand letting the sun tease the moisture from the feathers. He let loose a belly deep sigh and then rolled back upright. He tucked his feet comfortably beneath him and left his wants half open. " So you want to know about me." He mused aloud. "Well to be honest there really isn't much to know. You are correct in assuming that I don't belong to a glory. I've thought about joining one a few times but the thought of settling down makes me feel the need to move on. I spend most of my time wandering." He chuckled. " I suppose you could just call me a free spirit. I go where I may making friends along the way. Life is much simpler if you just enjoy what's around you. The flowers. The sun. The stars." He sighed wistfully. "As a matter of fact, there was a rather lovely meteor shower last night. I watched the entire thing." He smiled looking a little guilty. " Of course then I slept most of the day away." He got a mischievous smile. " You wouldn't happen to like watching shooting stars would you? I have it in good authority that there is another shower tonight. "

She had to laugh silently when he said he liked to wander. Should she tell him the name of her glory is Wyldewood Wanderers, or keep that to herself for the time being? There were those in the glory that considered themselves free spirits as well, which was why they came to her in the first place. Traveling was a big part of what they did in the Wood, and soon outside of it as well. He was waxing on about flowers and other things, but when he mentioned a meteor shower her ears suddenly tuned in to what he was saying. "Really? Last night? I missed it!" she exclaimed. "I love meteor showers, and yes, I most definitely want to see it if it is going to happen tonight. Where do you think the best place will be to see it? Here on the beach perhaps?" She was finding it hard to contain her excitement at the prospect. She had not seen one since arriving in her new home, and the thought of it made memories of her life before the Wood come flooding back in.

He was rather pleased when it became apparent she was as excited by watching stars fall as he was. Lost in a momentary fantasy of them spending the night watching the sky together it took him a moment to respond. "Oh, well, yes. I do believe here on the beach would be a rather nice place. However I think I may know a one you would like better. But it's a surprise." He got a mischievous look about him as he schemed on how long it would take them to get to the hidden sandbar he knew that, at low tide, gave hoof access to one of his favorite spots along the water. Especially at night. "So now you know about me. At least a little. What's life in your glory like? I've had some contact with the Wild Heart Sentinels and it seems like all they do is work. Is that how it is with you and yours?" He flipped his drying mane out of his eyes again as it had fallen forward while he was talking.

She liked surprises, so she accepted his offer of a different spot from which to view the shower. There were still hours to pass though before nightfall, and she really didn't want to be spending it all talking about herself and the glory. However, he had been kind enough to tell her something about himself, so it would only be polite to answer his questions as well. She decided to start with the last question first. "Oh no. I don't consider what we do work. We don't tend to the forest, or the other creatures living here like a few of the other glories do. I call my glory the Wyldewood Wanderers, as we tend to move all over the Wylde Wood, looking for new creatures in order to forge new friendships. There is so much of this new world that we have yet to explore, and that is what we devote our time to doing. When you said you considered yourself a free spirit, I immediately thought of those in my glory. A free spirit is something that is cherished among them. None of us likes to be tied down to one place for very long. You might say we have somewhat of a wander lust in our blood. Before I was brought here, I traveled extensively in our old land. That is, before things started to go bad. Now here, I have the opportunity to start again, seeing new places and meeting new creatures, making new friends and forging new alliances. Have you been to the Fury Mountains in your travels? If you have, you many have met some of Lord Baldur's glory members. His glory does much the same as mine, only his members patrol the mountains. Sometimes we will share our members with each other, depending on the mission and what skills are needed." She stopped to catch her breath, and to give him time to take in all she had just told him.
