She had her satchel packed and readied. All of her familiars had been fed and were prepped for the ride as well. Was there anything else she was forgetting? Talisia's gaze darted around the remains of her encampment. Seems like we're good. She had run into Dris and let her half-sister know that she was leaving, but hadn't given her reason. After all she had to go see her twin first. If he wasn't her brother....her heart clenched at the thought. Even if he was her brother then he might not be her brother at the same time. Their mother had a scary way of twisting people like that.

I decided to believe in him, did I not? The question must have left her lips at the same time since Silva butted her hip gently with his head. Smiling, Talisia played with the feathers on top of his head before rubbing an ear, "Alright. Enough moping, let's go grab that kid." The word made her smirk. Eresin was going to have to prove himself quickly.

Hearing about Ciaran made her want to just fly to Jauhar, but Silva couldn't carry two passengers. So walking it was. "You also might get upset at me if I leave you behind, right?" She laughed as her Xaaran snapped his beak at her in warning. She hadn't been able to leave Shyam behind in the desert and he definitely wasn't leaving her now.

Speaking of leaving...Talisia couldn't stop being amused at the sight of Silva with the heavy bags hanging at his sides. In one a golden eyed perzi stared at her while the other, her sleeping baby kinfa, rested. It had taken a lot of treats and convincing for the two boys to agree to help carry the girls, but she was glad that it worked out in the end. Shyam carried other belongings, but had room on his back for Talisia should she need a ride. Most likely she would have to ride him in the evenings since he couldn't stand not running for the day. This pace would be tedious for him and she had already apologized in treats.

Tucking her journal into her bag, the hybrid swung the last piece over her own shoulder and started moving forward. Oba had given her many experiences and even new friends...she may not miss the climate, but the place had surprisingly become dear to her. Here she had grown stronger than before and could feel comfortable enough saying that she was now a beast tamer. If nothing else, then all four of the familiars that followed her now could attest to her claims.

She just hoped that she was strong enough for this meeting.

Meeting Ciaran again after all of these years...her heart both danced and shied away from the thought. After all so much could change with time. She, herself, was a testimony to that.

Eresin held Peco close in one arm, and his staff in the other. He found himself getting more and more anxious as he neared the outskirts of Oba. The buildings became more and more scarce, decreased in height and the once loud city was rather quiet. He couldn't help but be a bit paranoid. Even though his parents tied up those crooks that attacked him in the stall, he couldn't help but feel like there were more guys in his group that were ready to jump out at him. I honestly don't know if I would be able to handle round two... Not with the way I'm feeling now... With that thought, he touched the bruise on his face. It stung at the touch of his soft finger, even through the clear hardened salve, and he winced. Yep. Still hurts a ton. Peco cooed and looked up at him with sleepy eyes. "Shh, go back to sleep buddy... We're almost there." Peco rustled in his arms and made himself comfortable once more.

Almost there... Eresin thought to himself. Talisia would surely think him weak if she saw him in his current state. She might just leave him behind, but then again who knows? Either way, he started his journey, and with or without her, he needed to go see his uncle. Eresin stopped for a moment to rest his bruised legs. He looked around at the area. He was in the outskirts already, and didn't even realize it. His thoughts caused him to not even pay attention to where he was going. Peco stirred from his sleep once more and started going crazy, trying to wiggle free from Eresin's arms. "Peco? Whats wrong?!" Peco managed to free himself and ran towards some nearby brush. "Peco! No, it's dangerous!"

Eresin sighed and ran after him. Hopefully he was okay, but what caused him to freak out? I guess I have to get to him then find out... Eresin entered the brush and hoped to the Almighty that there was no danger.

Talisia raised an eyebrow as sudden noises erupted from SIlva's side. Yukiyo, who had been sleeping, had managed to wiggle herself out of her basket and onto the ground. A series of chirps announced her discovery of something else and walking forward Talisia smiled. "I suppose that works." Her baby kinfa was bouncing across the sands and jumping, flapped her wings so that she could attack Peco in a loving manner.

"At least our kinfas seem to have a good sense of direction." Holding her arms out, Talisia whistled and waited for the baby to flutter into them. "Good girl." Brushing a light kiss across the delicate feathers, that were by now becoming brighter and thicker with age, Talisia glanced back up towards Eresin. "We haven't even left Oba yet you already look disheveled. Everything alright?" She studied him, a faint frown decorating her features. "Not having last minute thoughts, are you?"

She had yet to tell him about Ciaran...eventually she would, but for now she had told the boy that she just had her own reasons for going back to Jauhar so soon.

Eresin panted as he came into the clearing. His gaze met Talisia's and as he examined her soft features, he saw her kiss her kinfa. He met her glance and nodded his head at her question. "Yes... I just... There was a fight yesterday..." His voice trailed off and he looked away from her. He didn't want to tell her who the men were. He didn't want to dissuade her from letting him tag along by telling her something that might set her on edge. He also didn't want to give her the idea that he was weak. After all, it was only two guys that he fought. Talisia could've probably handled those guys again easily, and from the looks of it when she came to his stall, she definitely fought more of them at the time. I guess the other guys didn't want to mess with her anymore. Smart men. Then again, it was all speculation; who knows how many there were when she fought them.

Eresin looked around, suddenly realizing that there was a Raptrix and a few other exotic beasts with them. He looked back at Talisia and smiled. "When you said I had to meet your companions, I didn't know they would all be beasts." He waved at the Raptrix and smiled at it too. "I hope they won't mind me..." He said as he shied away from the Xaaran.

"A fight?" Talisia's body instantly tensed and her gaze sharpened. It was a scary shift back to the cold, defensive woman that most others saw. "Well, you seem to be alive." She took a breath and shoved the warrior's reaction back, "I won't ask the details since that's not any of my business. As long as it is over and done with...correct?" She peered back towards him, "I don't want a gang of ruffians or something chasing after us. We have enough on our plate as is." Mostly though it was worry for Eresin that had sharpened her gaze, but she wasn't going to admit that. He did seem able to walk so that was fine. And it was good to know that he could weasel his way out of a fight. Who knew? Perhaps it had just been the lightest of skirmishes.

Shyam, seeing Eresin, stepped around with his long neck stretched out to study the stranger. Immediately he snapped his beak at him before sticking next to the beast tamer's side, "My companions are back in Oba." Talisia smiled faintly, but there was an obvious shadow in her gaze. "The business that brings me to Jauhar is my own so I'd rather not involve them. They still have things to take care of here." She shrugged, "I started off with just a kinfa and a raptrix, but these two decided to join us."

As Shyam snapped and eyed the boy, Silva just growled softly at the wave before turning away. The boy's scent wasn't unfamiliar to him and he wasn't about to make a scene like Shyam. Instead he just stretched his wings before tucking them against his side, careful of his perzi package. He was set and ready to get away from this awful place of heat.

Faintly amused by her familiars, Talisia almost rolled her eyes. "Just don't get too close, they'll sometimes bite." She teased lightly before turning around, "Come on then. We better get started walking. Your uncle is in Jauhar correct? It's not the smallest place, so it may take a bit to find him."

Eresin started to walk with Talisia, staying a few feet next to her, not saying much. After a while of walking, Eresin couldn't help but want to tell her about the fight. She should know... They were looking for her after all... The trick was getting to that point in a conversation without offending her. "Hey, um... I wanted to ask you something.... What's it like to be a hybrid...? Is it always so dangerous? I mean... I don't want to offend you, so you really don't have to answer the question.. I was just curious since you seem to be really popular among bad people..."

He paused for a moment then continued. "The only reason I ask is because, well... The fight I had... Two guys tried to get information on your whereabouts... I refused to tell them so they attacked me. They said they saw us together apparently. I guess I got lucky because I managed to get one of them to knock out the other and I took care of the other guy." As Eresin described the fight, he found his grip on his staff getting tighter, and his knuckles turned white.

"I just... I didn't want them to find you so I had to fight. I didn't want them to hurt you..." He wiped his face from the tear he shed as he continued to walk. "Agh, I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm so emotional. I won't bother you with these trivialities anymore..." He picked up pace and started to walk a bit ahead of Talisia, with Peco running after him and cooing. Damn... What's wrong with me?

Talisia frowned at his question, "Well you see...we get this incurable desire to howl at the moon and go streaking at night. Something about cursed blood." Her snarky reply came from her comfort with him, that and she had finally accepted that she was the same as anyone else. Those whispers of being cursed as a hybrid that had haunted her for so many years were finally fading away. There was nothing wrong with her at all. She smirked as she glanced down at her hands, if it wasn't for her hair color or eyes then she could even imagine that she was a pure ice.

"Popular among bad people?" Her smirk faded as she glanced over towards him, "What do you....oh." So the fight hadn't been a simple skirmish after all. Sighing, Talisia rubbed the back of her neck and almost stopped walking completely at his reaction. What was wrong? "Look, I'm sorry I was snarky earlier." Ignoring the protest of the baby kinfa in her arms, Talisia picked up her feet and dashed after Eresin.

"They aren't trivial." Letting the protesting white ball of feathers down from her arms, Talisia touched the boy's shoulders, "Thank you for caring about me." She offered a shy smile, "If something is bothering you then you have to let me know. We're traveling together now so it's essential for each of us to have the other's back." She gave a short laugh, "Honestly, I'm the one at fault for attracting attention. It turns out that they have a whole market for hybrids in Oba..." She almost spat on the ground in distaste at the memory of that sight. All of those hybrids dressed loosely, if they had their clothing still, just for the pleasure of those nobles.

"They take care of them, drug them up and use them as they please." She crinkled her nose, "I thought I had a friend there and I went to go save him, but it turned out he had already left a while ago." She flushed lightly, "The leaf girl I was with and I both decided that we should leave with flare. Literally...we may have set the building on fire." Talisia awkwardly patted his shoulder before pulling back to continue walking, "As it is we're out of Oba and you took care of those who approached you. I'm proud in a way. You managed to stand up for yourself. I honestly was worried about whether you had it in you or not to travel with me."

Scooping Yukiyo back up in her arms so that she could secure the baby back in the basket hanging on Silva's side, Talisia actually laughed. "I just hope that you're prepared. Sometimes things get a bit more interesting than expected with me." Her flush deepened a bit, "But that's why we'll watch out for each other. I'm sure everything will be okay. I just hope we can find your uncle quickly....I have someone I'm looking for as well, but I'm not certain where he'll be." She sighed, "Still, we just need to get to Jauhar as quickly as possible. That way you might actually learn some more about your own abilities..."

That was right, Eresin was a mage as well. Glancing back over at him, Talisia bit the inside of her cheek. Should she ask him? But it seemed too touchy of a subject...for her at least still. How did she even admit to her own fears about magic? Especially to someone who seemed to love it so much? He was fortunate to not see the darkness it can bring. She doubted Eresin could even have any darkness in him. His recent reaction about her own safety had seemed so pure, so kind. He wasn't anything like her mother; he was completely different. Closing her eyes for a moment, Talisia only shook her head before walking on.

Something about the image of Talisia nonchalantly burning a building down for the sake of other hybrids seemed to be normal to him. Her sarcasm and wit were just part of who she was, and that didn't bother him one bit. Intellectually, being witty was actually really useful in a lot of situations. It made one crafty and very self reliant, so as much as Eresin would have wanted in his visions of grandeur to be the kind of guy who rescued damsels in distress with his magic, it would seem that that opportunity would not present itself to him when it came to Talisia. Well that, and she already has a bunch of animal friends to help her. I guess the only person I'll be rescuing is myself. He smiled in the inside and thought to himself that he would like to think he helped her in some way anyway in keeping those thugs away from her. She did, after all, just give him praise for it.

"Proud...? Of me?" Eresin blushed a little. "Heh, thanks..." He rubbed the back of his head in a goofy manner. He didn't realize he was smiling until he smiled so wide, his bruise started shooting pain in his cheek. Then he quickly stopped smiling and rubbed his cheek. Ouch. At that moment, he caught Talisia's glance, the look that someone gives when there's something on their mind that they want to say or ask. Eresin was always good at reading people in these kinds of situations. He turned his head to her and cocked his head slightly.

"What's on your mind...?"

Talisia's cheeks turned a shade of violet at the sudden question. She hadn't expected him to be so direct! "No-nothing, really." She turned away from him and started to pick up her legs, "We just need to move quickly is all. It's early now, but before you know it evening will be upon us. We don't want to be caught out here in the wilderness. Nope!" Seriously, what was she thinking? How offended would he be if she approached him about things?

Oh hey, I'm terrified of magic and just found out my twin might be alive as a mage.

Let me bash magic in front of you while you obviously are a mage as well, okay?

She was certain that wouldn't go well. Plus, it was embarrassing! She was a well trained fighter now and to be afraid of magic seemed rather childish. It wasn't like she was the youngling back in Zena anymore...so why did she still freeze at the sight of mages? It was shameful really. Truly, truly shameful and she was afraid of Eresin's reaction. Would she be afraid of him one day too? He didn't have the training yet and she hadn't witnessed him using any magic....how would she feel about him when he did?

But he was Eresin...she could never imagine the boy wanting to hurt anyone, especially her. Talisia's face darkened more at that admission before she continued to briskly walk forward, at this rate they would be running soon rather than walking.

Talisia's reaction caused him to raise an eyebrow. As she ran ahead of him he couldn't help but wonder what was on her mind. Eresin looked at the Raptrix and put his hands up and shrugged at him. I do intend to find out though. He picked up pace to catch up with her, and when he was walking next to her, he didn't look at her, as to not dissuade her from telling him. I know sometimes when I wanted to say something difficult to say to my parents, I wouldn't make eye contact...

After a moment of silence, Eresin started to speak, being careful not to look her in the eye still."You know, if something is bothering you, you have to tell me as well. It's a part of looking out for each other." He looked at her in the corner of his eye and showed the faintest of smiles. "You can tell me anything, but I won't force you. Just know that I'm here." He continued to walk, looking around nonchalantly at the trees around them. Surely she'll come around eventually. Eresin couldn't help but wonder who it was that she was looking for in Jauhar. Perhaps after finding his uncle, he could help her find whoever it was she was looking for too.

Talisia stiffened at his comment, "I know." She admitted sharply as she glanced towards him, "It'll just take me a bit to admit it, okay?" The flush was still visible on her cheeks, "I just need to collect my thoughts a bit more." She offered him a faint smile before moving on ahead. Even if he approached her gently about it, Talisia was still ashamed of her own fears. One day she would admit herself to him, but for now she would focus on the journey at hand.

They had a few peaceful days traveling through the desert and as the lands greened again, Talisia took the time to make them a camp. Jauhar was close, she could feel the shifts in the air. Home... If she could call it that. It was a strange feeling, but one that she had accepted. As a hybrid she would forever be torn between two lands, two races. Spreading out her belongings, the girl studied them. They had managed to restock on food at a small village and her beasts were happily chowing down on the food she had brought. Well, save for Silva, but it didn't surprise her when he went flying through the skies for his own prey.

He did detest dried food after all. Tossing her long hair over her shoulder, Talisia began twisting it into a braid. It was much easier to get through this humidity when her wavy locks were tamed. As it was she had done her part, a fire was gently rolling against the evening skies and the bed spreads were out. She had meat roasting and fruits out as well. Did he fall into the river perhaps? The thought brought a small smile to her lips. Since everything was taken care of Eresin had went to the river for fresh water. Her companion definitely was more unique than others she had traveled with. She just hoped that he was adapting to this life okay.

Maybe tonight she would bring up the questions that had been wandering her mind lately. Even more so she had to wonder....was Ciaran out there looking at this same landscape? Could he see the same set of stars that she saw now that they were almost in Jauhar? "Ciaran..." The name left her lips in a hushed whisper as she gazed up at the evening skies.

Eresin found himself standing next to a river with some containers to fill them with. For some reason, he had zoned out for what seemed like a few seconds to him. When he came to, he had a sudden realization that he was no longer with his parents, safely travelling in a cart with goods to trade into some large city where they would stay a while. It only seemed like a few hours ago that he left his tent for the last time, and started his journey to become a mage. Speaking of which, I wonder how my mom and dad are doing without me... Mom must be heartbroken... A tear came into his eye. He couldn't help wanting to leave, but at the same time, he never wanted to hurt them. He just wanted to do his own thing. Surely, that wasn't so bad, right? He figured everyone had to leave their parents eventually. Why shouldn't he be able to now?

Eresin wiped his eyes, and sat down in the grass right next to the river. It was a calm river, softly rolling by with trickling noises, the kind that soothed a troubled mind. He curled up and put his head on his knees. I didn't think I would miss them so soon. He stared at the running waters for a while, thinking of a way to let them know he's okay. He could send them a letter or something, but he was a little stingy about paying someone money to deliver a letter for him. I do have a limited amount of money to go with, and I would rather not use it unless it was an emergency... He decided that the letter would have to wait. His journey had only barely started anyway, so there probably was no point in writing back so soon, even if it might put his mother's conscience at ease.

Peco cooed at him from his side and nudged his leg. Ah, yeah... I should be getting back soon. He collected water in the containers, and sealed them up tightly, then put them in his pouch. "You're getting much bigger Peco," Eresin pointed out as Peco sat on his head. "Soon you'll be carrying me, right?" He teased, and Peco squawked and rustled his hair as he chuckled.

Eresin found his way back to camp safely. He crossed through some brush and looked at the fresh campsite. "Sorry I took so long." He didn't provide any information on why he did, but he accidentally stopped short, as if he had something else to say as a follow up. He hoped Talisia didn't notice. He handed her one of the water containers and sat down on a log.

"We're getting close to Jauhar now, right?" Eresin was eager to meet his uncle Nerio after so long. He wondered what training as a mage would actually be like. He knew there were dangers in being a mage, but the past few days had made him feel capable to handle the situation. He only hoped he would live up to Nerio's expectations.

As her companion returned, Talisia broke away from her wandering thoughts. Worries about tomorrow would have to wait. When it came time then she could worry more. Not like it was doing anything for her to keep pondering over something that even she couldn't answer. "I almost thought you had left to go to Jauhar on your own." She replied with a raised eyebrow, "That or you decided to take a nice long swim in the river." She wasn't one to pry even if she did frown slightly at his obvious pause. Was something also on his mind? Here she had been worry about herself without even taking a moment to ponder about Eresin.

He was supposed to be meeting his uncle after so many years...surely this would make him nervous as well, "We are. The trees around us are starting to shift and soon we'll be in the rainforest. The air is thick and heavy, much different from Zena or even the dry heat of Oba. So tonight we can just settle in and get some good rest. We'll need it once we cross into Jauhar." A blur of movement resulted in Zira resting on her lap and Talisia settled on the ground so that her hands could pet the perzi. "How are you holding up? We haven't really stopped to rest like this in a while." Her lips curled up into a faint smirk, "Having travel jitters?"

She shook her head, "As it is just prepare yourself. You already made the decision to leave behind everything and this will be your life now. It's going to be different, but trust me. Usually it's worth it." Her bi-colored gaze rose from her familiar to rest on the ice earthling, "Nothing worthwhile is ever easy after all. So take tonight to let go of everything and just look forward to the future that you'll be accepting once we cross over. I'll try to not judge you if you need a few moments." Not that she was the comforting type, but she figured Eresin might want to hear it. Her own experience of leaving behind everything she had known had been terrifying. Yet, she was thankful that it had happened. If not then only the gods knew where she would be as well. She just wished that she had someone to tell her to let go much earlier. Letting go eased the shadows from one's heart and allowed them to embrace the destiny waiting for them. Longing for the past brought nothing but worries and would only slow them down.

Eresin smiled back at Talisia. "Letting go of what I left behind, huh?" Letting go was what he was trying his best to do. He did worry about his parents, but they would surely be fine without him. All he had left to do was convince himself of that fact and focus on what was going to happen in his near future. He was a mage, and he was going to hone his skills so he could learn the wonders of the world and protect those he cared for. But I won't be able to protect anyhting if I don't learn magic first. "Alright!" He stood up all dramatically and struck a heroic pose with his staff, pointing it in the air. "From this moment forward, I'll focus on what we set out to do. We can do this." Peco puffed out his chest and jumped on Eresin's head, causing him to lose balance and fall over. The two of them went down in a mix of "Squawk"s and "Whoa!"s. When the dust settled, Eresin laughed for a good few moments.

He sat up and looked at the fire. "You know, I don't think I could have made this journey, or even have started it for that matter, if it weren't for your help. I never thanked you." He looked into her eyes and smiled warmly. "So... Thanks." He let the words linger in the air for a bit, not really minding the fact that he had just been truly open to Talisia for the first time, as if they were really close friends. It didn't feel awkward, nor uncomfortable. It actually felt pretty good. He only hoped that maybe someday, she would be that open with him. He certainly wouldn't mind being close friends with her. She was reliable, strong, and good hearted, despite her prickly exterior sometimes. Well, that's certainly something to look forward to.

Eresin laid down and put his arms behind his head, ready to rest for a while, until they were ready to head out once again to complete their journey to Jauhar. He didn't sleep just yet, but he would soon drift asleep had nothing else arose from their conversation.

Talisia had to blink at the sight before her. Was he really? Oh my. As the two tumbled towards the ground Talisia's smile actually widened. For the first time in what felt like years the girl actually lost control of herself and burst out laughing. She laughed so much that Zira hissed quietly in surprise before jumping from her lap. Tears actually glistened in her eyes by the time she settled back on the ground. Wiping them away Talisia tried her hardest to hide her flushed cheeks, "You two are something special." Even her insides hurt from all the laughter. How he could do such things with such a serious expression killed her.

"No need to thank me." Talisia rubbed her eyes as she glanced back towards him, "You had a goal and I'm sure that eventually you would have started it even without me. I just helped you to get along is all." As he laid down the girl hesitated. Should she talk more or just let him rest? Perhaps it was from seeing his silly antics that she felt a little more relaxed near the ice earthling. Surely there wasn't anything wrong with her question...

"So why magic?" Talisia laid down on her bedroll so that she could stare at the rising stars, "I've always seen the path of magic as more dangerous than others. Couldn't you have opted for something different? Or does magic just stick to you?" She never could understand it. What if someone really didn't have a choice? Maybe Ciaran didn't have a choice either...
