×x W I N G Sx×xx of midnight shadow blocked out the sun's dying rays as Dreznir banked left, soaring out of Vileclaw territory. He'd been meaning to scout ahead for his Pack; he and Zaice wanted to move further south before Fall hit, in order to get ahead of the migrating herds. His lips curved into a smirk, baring four-inch canines. And together, we are unstoppable. Even with just the two of them, they'd been able to completely decimate their old Packs for exiling them...33 Varsythe, gone in the space of six hours.

And I loved every second of it. The thrill, the rush, the bloodlust...all of it had combined into a whirling, swirling hurricane within his breast. It had earned him the moniker of 'Night Angel', which pleased him greatly. It had brought him power, respect, and a healthy fear from other Vileclaw. Now just to show the Vurfang who and what I am.

Was he conceited? Perhaps. But, hey. What was life without a little narcissism? The male extended his wings and pointed his nose downwards as he saw a herd of elk streaming across the plains beneath him. Perfect. The wind screaming past his ears, Drez fell through the air, pressing his wings tightly against his flanks, shooting downwards faster and faster. At the moment before collision, the male snapped his wings open and hurtled towards the fleeing herd, talons extended and mouth gaping as he bore down on the neck of a small male.

The two hit the ground and tumbled in a flail of fur and limbs and blood, and Dreznir felt his fangs lock behind the cervical vertebra. With an audible crunch, he flexed his powerful jaws, and the beast gave a last, dying kick before growing still. Standing, the multi-hued male gave himself a good shake, whipping the blood from his mask and muzzle. He lifted his nose in the air, tasting the scents on the wind; someone was coming. "s**t." Drez gripped his prey and dragged it behind an outcrop of rock before returning to his previous position, sitting down and running his tongue along his flanks and under his wings in nonchalance. Alpha male. Vurfang. Perhaps he'll be less inclined to fight if I don't appear too threatening. He was, of course, still lacking complete sight in his right eye, and his scars still pulled tightly on his face and leg, but he was healed up enough. He could take whatever these soft, pitiful Vurfang threw at him.

They didn't have to fight for survival like he did, didn't have to wrap their jaws around the throat of fate and say no, tell it to piss off and let them live just one more day. Slitted turquoise eyes flicked around to the lush grasslands, the rivers on the horizons, the plentiful game. He gave a soft snort. Life is almost too easy here.

Rothar

Rothar had followed the good game towards the midlands between Vurfang and Vileclaw lands. Perhaps if he had the pack that he desired he wouldn't endanger them by straying into these parts but he was more than confident in his ability to take care of himself.
He padded along at a brisk pace, taking in all the scents around him and his ears swiveling to take in his surroundings. The proud, but lone alpha was alert as he closed in on the elk he could smell and feel as they traveled. Then he caught another scent, vileclaw, his lips curled in a snarl but his pace didn't falter. He was not afraid. Almost as quickly as he pick up the vileclaw's scent the smell of blood became prominent, a kill had been made. His pace slowed slightly and his expression calmed as he sniffed for the scent of others.
Finding none he quite boldly strode out into the open, his green eyes leveling on the winged vileclaw. His pace slowed to a methodical advance, observing and sizing up the other alpha without a word.

"Or I will show it to you."

×x T U R Q U O I S Ex×xx eyes met the Alpha's gaze, and the Vileclaw offered a quick grin beneath his mask. He took in the male's red hair, proud stance, and quite frankly, the oozing, oily confidence he exuded. The male tucked his head, hiding a wide smirk in lieu of a nod of greeting. Are all Packless Fangs so cocky?

"Well, hello there." Drez's voice was a rich lilting, melodic tenor, as if either music or insanity ran just beneath the surface of his mind. He rose from his haunches and gave himself another shake, lifting his head and quirking a small smile. "And how are you this fine, beautiful and bountiful day, Vurfang?" Dreznir had to stifle a laugh at the look of outrage on the Alpha's face.

He swept into an elaborate bow, tucking his paw beneath his chest, wings extended fully to the sides as his chin brushed the ground. "A pleasure to meet you, I'm sure. I'm Dreznir, Riftclaw's Alpha of the Erroxus Wastelands. And to whom might I be speaking?" He rose from his bow, cocking an ear. Ahh, politeness. What was that silly little saying? 'Kill them with kindness'? He suppressed a giggle. Or with tooth and claw. Whatever works.

"Know your place..."

Rothar

Rothar stopped his approach as the Vileclaw greeted him. He did not like the tone in the other's voice, hinting of something darker lurking beyond the gaudy, yet menacing physical appearance of the Vileclaw. his lips curled up in a silent snarl. Not that the other had said anything particularly offensive, but he didn't like the way he felt as though Dreznir was mocking him. The tufted tip of his tail twitched and he restrained himself from the urge to go for the neck when the Vileclaw prostrated before him. Though he personally felt as though all should do so in his presence, the fact this Vileclaw alpha was doing so only served to irritate him. Either this Dreznir had no pride or he was mocking him, because he was sure has hell was hot that a Vileclaws would do no such thing for a Vurfang of any status.

Suppressing the irritated growl he remained in his proud, alpha pose and respond. "You have the honor of speaking with Rothar." His tone was terse and he was more than a bit miffed that he did not have a pack that he could boast of. And though his pride was in tact he was not hiding his irritation with Drezin well at all.

"Or I will show it to you."

×x GE N T L Ex×xx laughter sounded, seeming to resonate within Rothar's mind. Dreznir's nose tipped skyward as he chuckled, though it held no trace of sarcasm, simply amusement.
Honor? What do Fangs know of honor?
The colorful wolf rose to his feet and padded forward, his steps silent as he began to circle the proud Alpha.

"Oh, the honor is all yours, I'm sure." The male's slit eyes remained fixed on Rothar as he trotted around the other Alpha, sizing him up, noticing how the male stood still save for his head, which constantly kept Drez in sight. "See, I only came down here to simply scope out the hunting, see what life was like on the 'other side', as we say." His mouth turned up in a grin, barely visible beneath his mask. "Imagine my surprise when I find the hunting prosperous, the water clean, the foliage lush and the skies clear from the stink of sulfur and coal."

Drez slowed his pacing, coming to an easy stop in front of the Alpha, right back where he had begun, only several steps closer. Mirth shone in his turquoise eyes. "And while I neatly take down a kill that's not all bone and tendon, or filled with parasites, up comes a proud, strong Fang, ready to defend his Packless territory." Drez tosses his head, mane streaming in the wind, the breeze catching the lavender ribbons and making them dance merrily.

"So tell me. Why do you hold so tightly to your pride, when you've no Pack to call your own, Rothar?"

"Know your place..."

Rothar

Rothar's tail twitched and his lips curled ever so slightly at the amused laughter that emanated from the Vileclaw. His sharp gaze never left Dreznir as the other circled about him. He didn't waiver and stood tall and proud the words of that rolled off Dreznir's tongue seemed as if to try and pierce his pride and confidence.

An ear flicks and he holds himself taller, it that was even possible, as he stared defiantly back into his mirthful turquoise eyes, unshaken, all be it ratter irked by the prodding. "I know who I am." Was his simple reply, but he wasn't finished. His eyes narrowed and he bore his fangs. "While you may slink from your dark pits into these lush lands that does not make you any less Vileclaw. Though my pack may not yet be assembled behind me, I do not need one to know my worth." He swished his tail, his cape fluttering slightly in the breeze. "Are you in need of a pack to have pride?" His tone took on a slight sneering tone as if mocking Dreznir.

He didn't know the vileclaw lands and had no real desire to, but he knew that they were chaotic and he would not stand by and watch them turn the lush Vurfang land into the landscape Drenir had described.

×x D R E Z N I Rx×xx yawned as the male spoke, though he kept an ear cocked. Jeez. Nothing like a long-a** flight, a stalk and kill, and a vain Alpha prattling on to make you sleepy. The male tipped his head to the side as Rothar explained how that even while he had no Pack yet, that he didn't need one to be proud. Isn't that cute?

But Drez felt a begrudging respect form for the Alpha; clearly, there were indeed some Fangs that knew how to survive, at least. Strange that I should happen upon one of them my first time visiting these oh-so-lush lands, hmm? Dreznir blinked. and a rope of pale scar flashed over his right eyelid.

"Oddly enough, it warms my deep, dark places inside to hear you say that." Dreznir lolled out his tongue, a silent laugh. "And here I thought all Fangs needed to group up and huddle together to be sure of themselves." The colorful male took a step forward, encroaching towards the other Alpha one pace at a time.

He didn't know if he wished to attack yet; but best keep the distance short, in the event Rothar got annoyed or angry enough. Dreznir shook his head, quirking a small smile. "My 'dark pits', as you say, have made me into what I am, this is true. But I feel obligated to tell you that a Pack may not suit you; they're not all they're cracked up to be, you know?"

At the look of Rothar's confusion, Dreznir sighed. Oh, must I really spell it out for him? The male extended a wing, hooking the bone-like claw on the joint beneath a clasp on the back of his neck. His mask slipped to the side, revealing scars of every shape and size crossing his face. His slitted eyes watched the almost-surprise on Rothar's features, nodding before flicking the clasp shut again, mask firmly back in place.

"Just be wary of who you shack up with, Rothar. Sometimes, Alphas don't have the Pack's interests at heart. And your Beta might betray you." He pressed his ears flat against his skull, fangs gleaming. "Or someone will challenge you at every decision you make, thinking they can run the Pack better. Perhaps your Beta will fall in love with your mate, and they'll go behind your back." Dreznir shook his head, hair falling over his right eye.

"Regardless. My first Pack was abhorrent. Riftclaw, however, is a gift. To be frank, I never thought to join a Pack again, and here I find myself leading one." The male rolled his eyes and flicked a grin towards Rothar, a private joke shared between them. "Funny how life loves to trick you, isn't it?"

"Know your place..."

Rothar

Rothar's eyes narrowed as the colorful alpha yawned at his words, not that he had expected an interested response. In all honesty, he was expecting disinterest or rage. Then as Drez spoke there was a look of mild confusion swiftly followed by a sharp glare and silent snarl, alert and an guard as the Vileclaw Alpha slowly advanced.
The look of confusion leaked back onto his face as the colorful alpha belittled having a pack. Before he could say anything Drez let his scarred face do the talking and his expression slipped into a cold, almost dead look. which remained even as the mask was replaced. He slowly composed himself as Drez verbalized what he had been saying by showing his scarred face. With each second the dead look morphed into a fierce gleam, his tail raising to show the exent of his pride and confidence by the time the other alpha was finished speaking.

He was silent for a moment and then with a tone and serious and sure as his pose he responded. "Let them, or rather I dare any Varsythe that will be of my pack to step out of line. I will show them where they belong and who is rightfully in charge." Rothar had wanted his pack for the longest time but he was not only picky he demanded respect and order from those that he accepted into his care. But he had the surety and clarity that he would show, by whatever means of force necessary, them where there place was and or dole out punishment for any that stepped out of line. and he exuded this sure and proud arua even though his words where few.

"Or I will show it to you."

×x T H Ex×xx Night Angel cocked his head to the side, watching the Alpha intently. It was clear that he didn't think much of Drez's scars, other than the fact that they were...well, extensive is the word. He saw the male's tail lift as he spoke, and his lips curled up in a lupine grin. This one will certainly be a handful.

Dreznir paced forward, closing the distance between them until he stood not three feet from Rothar. He sat back on his haunches and lifted a wing, nibbling at the base of the joint at an itch, though not condescendingly. An errant lock of blue and green hair fell over his bad eye, and the wolf lifted his head and lowered his wing, meeting the Alpha's proud gaze.

"So says every Alpha, Rothar. All I'm saying is that you must be vigilant, hmm?" The melodious cadence of his tenor was still there, but it had been toned down, his words serious. "I may be wrong; perhaps the Vurfang are more inherently trusting and kind and less prone to back-stabbing than their cousins." Drez flicked an ear, the runes on his haunches seeming to glow in the sun's fading light. "And if that's the case, then please, do ignore me. But if you've ever met one of your own who's given you the slightest cause for doubt...heed my words, and choose your Pack carefully."

There was no gentle mocking, no sardonic twist to his voice. Instead, Dreznir was entirely serious: an event that happened rarely enough that his Beta actually kept a tally and placed bets. "When you decide to begin your own, ensure you've a Beta who has absolutely no ambition." His mouth turned up at the corners and his tail gave a single, slow wag thinking of his own. "It's much easier when you can trust your second-in-command."

"Know your place..."

Rothar

For the first time since meeting the colorful alpha, their words didn't seem to further irritate the proud Rothar. In fact as the other continued to speak his annoyance ebbed ever so slightly, a part of him accepting the genuine advice of the Vileclaw alpha. Something he would never admit to another living soul. But he had seen with his own eyes as a young pup that even Vurfang were not above violent ambition, grudges, and trickery. He had decided long ago that he would be more than picky with those hat he let get close and even more so with those that he trusted. Which currently stood at a grand total of zero.
Rothar was silent for a while before he spoke again, his expression serious but no longer filled with ire. "I am not just any alpha, I know my place and I am more than happy to show any other where they belong." He may not have the experience by he sure as heck had the pride and determination to make his goal a reality. And though he would take at least some of the warnings and suggestions into consideration he would not verbally acknowledge that he had any intent to do so. "I trust in myself, my strength and my ability. I need only those that are worthy and able to fulfill their role."

"Or I will show it to you."
