Barter and Haggle Prompt 2
Can be used toward Solo or RP req
Lately, the local market places have been filled with new traders offering their wares. It seem as if many across the land are trying their hand at selling clothing, weapons, and trinkets. With so many new faces, now is the best time to go to the market and barter for the best prices.
So go ahead and grab your goods or grab your gold and take a shot at bartering.
This prompt can be played from either side: your character can be the merchant, or can be looking to purchase an item. Groups can RP with both characters on the same side, or trying to barter with each other.

The strange turtle that he'd caught out int he desert of Oba had been dropped off with a tamer in town to get a full inspection. He wanted to know if the thing was dangerous and he felt that it was best to hire someone to look the beast over for him, one that wasn't the beast tamer from his unit since the man was already busy. He was the caretaker for all the mounts in the unit when everyone headed into town due to the fact that he wasn't really all that social. He did better with beasts then people, which was why he was waiting with them, allowing everyone else to run around town so they could enjoy a couple days of leave.
Saraf side stepped a group of girls who were chatting about some new merchants that had arrived in town, that they were selling such beautiful things from foreign lands, and various other chatter. He wasn't terribly interested himself, what interest did he have in 'beautiful things' but maybe there was something, along with the turtle, that he could give to his mother? He was going to visit her so bringing her a present would probably be a good thing, especially given that it had been a while since he'd visited home. He'd sent a few letters but that wasn't the same as a visit, not by far. After a moment of thought the tattooed warrior started forward. Alright, he would go to where the merchants gathered, see about getting a nice present for his mother, before he headed home for a visit.
As he reached the marketplace he found himself starring, eyes wide, as he took in the crowd. Was it just him or did this place seem a whole lot more bustling then the last time that he'd come by? More merchant from more tribes then he'd seen in one place before, all hocking their wares. All the voices of those talking blended together into a bit of a din and he gave a little whistle, "Wow... well, this should be interesting." He murmured to himself before he started forward into the crowded mess that was the market place. He would do his best to find something nice for her without getting lost in this giant crowd he thought to himself as he moved along, doing his best to keep from bumping into any of the gathered people. How he wished at the moment that he had Grane with him, certain that he'd be good at parting crowds... but at the same time he might end up stepping on someone or nipping at them, so it was probably best he wasn't here.
He looked at each booth as he got close, scanning over the wares, getting a feel for what they were selling before he decided if he wanted to buy something or continue on. He only ended up stopping at two places, the first one was a booth that was selling jewelry. He looked over what was being sold, inspecting the pieces, and found one that stood out to him as one that his mother would like. It was a pretty piece that had a deep pink jewel set in a golden setting that would match her eyes on a long chain. After inspecting the piece, making sure that it was of good quality, he bought it for her. It was wrapped up and tucked into his pack before he moved on once more.
The next place that he went was to a stall that was selling rather nice cloth, a place that was swarmed by a bunch of females that were looking things over and chattering about what they wanted to make or have made, depending on their social standing. He took a deep breath, held it, and then moved forward to look as well while ignoring the looks he was getting. He knew that someone like him standing at a booth like this was going to cause him to get looks but if it meant making his mother happy then it would be worth it, right? He just had to try to look passed the girls that were either sizing him up as competition for the cloth they wanted or as a piece of meat for them to enjoy starring at. After inspecting the cloth he was able to spot some that he felt his mother would like, a shimmering golden cloth with deep red designs on it.
He was quick to buy the lot of it, then scurried off when it seemed as though he'd angered a couple of the women that must have been thinking about buying the stuff themselves. Nothing more terrifying then a woman that wasn't getting her way after all. Best that he ran off as quickly as his feet could take him before they came after him to get the cloth since it was meant for his mother.
