The day was drab and dreary, soft torrents of rain fell to the earth creating a misty haze upon the land. One mare stood beneath the down pour, her eyes locked upon the distant mountain ridge; there were stories of giant winged beasts who could breathe fire. Many said that their hulking shadow would be the last one you ever saw before death took you. Their greed was even more known than that of their hulking birth and deathly fire; they would scour the land searching for rare ore, precious jewels, and young maidens that caught their eye, either to snack upon or take back to their horde of treasure.

All of this was just rumor at the moment and the stories of these beasts would change from village to village. Some worshiped these creatures of flame and greed, others cowered in terror at the mere mention of the name, but the mare did not worship nor did she cower from the unearthly creature. Her eyes continued to gaze forward, a determined set to her jaw and an excited glint in her eyes.

Soon she would know if the legends and stories she had heard were true; with a smile, the mare walked forward in the rain. Danger and adventure lay before her as Aderyn yr Eira Duliisdi continued on her quest to find a dragon.

Rain danced along the brim of the hat before dripping in continuous flow to the ground as the blue eyes watched with amusement. It wasn’t as if the rain was a particular favorite of the stallion considering it made traveling any sort of long distant harder and any sort of reckless behavior almost deadly but the there was always a certain haunting element to it. The sky’s dark complexion, the slippery surface among the ground, even the way the continuous noise muffled out any approaching fiend willing to take another’s life. It was sort of thrilling to Bug, as he made his way swiftly through the downpour now, a grin wide on his muzzle as his hulking body moved with some caution over the soaking surface not wanting to risk the chance of slipping along the way.

Now the only question remained if his brother was looking for him, the green stallion had promised a little knowledge on some sort of exciting adventure in the mountains. What it was Bug wasn’t entirely sure but anything that seemed fun and had at least the element of almost dying was worthwhile.

What were the rules to a dragon hunt again? There were ten rules that had been passed down from previous Dragon Hunters, not that she actually met these said hunters. Were they just soquili who made up stories to make themselves seem like heroes of the realm?

“C’mon Aderyn, you should be able to remember ten simple rules, you are a daughter of a storyteller after all.” She closed her eyes, her face scrunched up in concentration. “GOT IT!” Her eyes opened in a flash, “Rule one – always wear black…” she looked down at her red body, “Well I am already breaking that rule and do not see it changing any time soon, perhaps it is not that important of a rule. Rule two – never wake a sleeping dragon. That is just common sense if you ask me, and proper manners, I know I would be angry if I was woken from my slumber. Rule three – never underestimate a dragon, well duh. Rule four – never approach a dragon from behind, rule five has to do with killing the dragon and that is not my intention at all. Rule six… ew, cover yourself in dragon feces to keep your scent off the wind, this again is for hunting and killing the dragon, not my intention. Rule seven – never try to befriend a dragon, curiosity killed the cat sort of scenario I guess, but I would rather be friends with a dragon than a dragon killer. Rule eight – don’t feed the dragons AKA don’t get eaten… Oookaaay. Rule nine – again with the killing, ignoring that rule… and lastly rule ten… never hunt alone.” Aderyn paused and looked around, that was probably one of the better rules of the ten she just recited, she really should have companions on this quest. But who would she take on this epic quest? Everyone she knew was off somewhere on their own adventures, perhaps it was time to make some new friends who did not fear what hides beneath the mountain.

There was still no sign of his brother anywhere as Bug moved slowly in the rain, the blue eyes searching for any sort of movement that dared to be around in the downpour. Only problem was that everything was the color green and that with all the branches and limbs it was hard to decipher any sort of difference between what was moving and what was not. The stallion frowned, the look of annoyance flashing on his face before his ears twitched at an unfamiliar sound. It was faint and even more so hard to tell if it was anything of worth with the sound of pounding rain on every available surface. Still he followed it, his steps slower than before as trying to merely creep upon the source in order to scare it in some fashion.

Of course when he found it, Bug froze, it was not his brother, and not at all anyone he knew well enough to scare out in the middle of a storm. Instead he looked around briefly before shouting out her.

“Hey!”
