Remembering the Past
Prompt 3

Can be used toward Solo or RP req

It has been seven long years since the Great Oban Invasion. It almost feels like a dream, considering all of the changes that have occurred in Tendaji since the great war. A new King sits on the Oban throne, and he has opened the boundaries of Oba and Matori. Many already are taking advantage of the open boarders to travel and explore. The world was expanding and changing all things to the massive war of the great nations.

Since the war, Tendaji took a stand against the extremist Alkidikes and won. They came together to show a new alliance that many could never dream of. Everything was settling, and now that there finally was peace everyone has begun to to take a moment and remember all that has come and gone.

How have the major wars and changes impacted your character these past few years? Are they bitter for their failures or happy about their success? Do they see a peaceful future to come or are they concerned about those who may be still holding grudges?

[Characters not part or even alive during the war can still respond to this prompt. Maybe they have a different way of understanding the war compared to those who were part of it, so feel free to explore those feelings and thoughts in your response]

Lumikani didn't have much of a chance to think for herself these days. With two wiggling younglings who couldn't help but get into trouble, a tribe to protect and cultivate, and a new partner to work through every issue and disagreement, her mind was never given a break to just think. Even now, as she sat in the humid heat of her new homeland, Zayana curled in her lap and focused on the Limbara before them, she couldn't help but split her focus. The young girls were growing, a beautiful mixture of her silent determination and Zandala's dedication. They were beautiful, they were theirs, and they were the future.

Lumikani couldn't help but believe that her daughters were stronger than the original blooms. It was a bit selfish, but she knew that the blessing of two mothers was quite strong, even if the tree went out of her way to provide the original three. Maybe it was because the process was so similar to her own faith, to the connection she longed to have with Aisha. Even after fully embracing Elzira, she still held the old views. Elder Alkidikes were the same, often mixing the two together and seeing Elzira as a sister or daughter to their own great mother. More of the younger Alkidikes abandoned their faith for their savior Elzira, and it was often a heated topic between herself and Zandala.

She trusted Zandala, but sometimes she struggled to find the confidence to speak freely about her wants and needs of her old goddess.

The wiggling in her arms became distracting, pulling her away from her thoughts and toward Zayana. The youngling wanted up, to go toward the Limbara and to ride atop it once more. Lumikani couldn't resist providing her daughter with the opportunity, silently hopeful she could help her daughter move in the direction of becoming a guardian. Maybe, Zayana would take on the bow and become a strong warrior like her mother, leading the charge of the sisters of the new generation.

As she held her daughter atop the still-growing Limbara, Lumikani finally took a moment to think over everything before. Before she made the choice to march, before she made the decision to fight, and before she sealed her fate by traveling over the sea. It was so simple back then, standing beside her sisters and growing into a wild child. It still make her heart ache to think of them, even after so many years. Dare she admit she missed the Alkidikes on the island who she called family. The memories of her shadowing Elsheba, of arguing with Anya and of looking out for Ashani, it ll caused her chest to ache.

She didn't realize she was holding tightly onto Zayana's arms until the little devil smartly pointed it out, sending her own stubborn glare and threatening to bite her mother if she continued.

The child was wild indeed.

Lumikani smoothed her fingers over her daughter's shoulders, noting that there was hardly any sort of sign of the grip, and sent her a soft smile. Soon, she would be taking her daughters on the journey to the south, after careful scouting of course to ensure no Yaeli were in the same path. She would take them to train and to meditate, to grow and thrive beyond the borders of this camp. Freedom was one of the greatest memories of her own past, the freedom to move in the trees, and she would never neglect such a freedom for her daughters. They deserved to thrive and grow and needed it if they were to become great warriors.

The past showed her the truths of the world, of how a misunderstanding or disagreement could tear apart a tribe and a family. She missed Aisha, she was bitter about losing the great mother she followed with blood, sweat, and tears, and she questioned if she'd ever see Elzira the same way. Maybe not, but her daughters only knew Elzira, and Lumikani couldn't quite explain Aisha in the same way. They would grow, and their children, until all that was left was Elzira who believed in a new goddess. Lumikani still struggled to imagine such an offputting thought.

She knew she'd never make it back to the mainland, never walk among the roots of her Great Mother. She also knew she couldn't become jaded or bitter, as it would leave her weak and open for attack. She needed to continue to influence her family in the ways of the Alkidikes, until the day she died.

Even with all the turmoil, even with the loss of a great mother, she had a new cause to fight for. She had to fight for her family.
