Remembering the Past
Prompt 3

Can be used toward Solo or RP req

It has been seven long years since the Great Oban Invasion. It almost feels like a dream, considering all of the changes that have occurred in Tendaji since the great war. A new King sits on the Oban throne, and he has opened the boundaries of Oba and Matori. Many already are taking advantage of the open boarders to travel and explore. The world was expanding and changing all things to the massive war of the great nations.

Since the war, Tendaji took a stand against the extremist Alkidikes and won. They came together to show a new alliance that many could never dream of. Everything was settling, and now that there finally was peace everyone has begun to to take a moment and remember all that has come and gone.

How have the major wars and changes impacted your character these past few years? Are they bitter for their failures or happy about their success? Do they see a peaceful future to come or are they concerned about those who may be still holding grudges?

[Characters not part or even alive during the war can still respond to this prompt. Maybe they have a different way of understanding the war compared to those who were part of it, so feel free to explore those feelings and thoughts in your response]

She was home now. After the long time spent away she was finally home. As she lay in her bed Syqvara thought back to everything that had kept her away. A trip into Jauhar, a fire that almost killed her, a battle against the Alkidikes, and getting turned around somewhere in Sauti. All of it had come together in just the right order to keep her out on the road for two years. She felt the nudge on her hand from Elyam as he wanted her attention. "I see you boy.." A small smile took shape on her lips.

As she set about to petting the Scorra's head she stared up at the ceiling to her room. What would have happened if she'd have stayed home instead of venturing out like she had with Ingwe? Would she have gone to battle then? Would she have learned to control her magic better? Or would she have hid away in her room like she had before? It was something that made her wonder if.. If losing a friend had been worth it all.

Sy always thought that if she hadn't insisted on Ingwe taking her to Jauhar then they wouldn't have stayed at that Inn. And if that had never happened then he would still be alive. Another nudge to her hand let her know that she had stopped petting her familiar while her thoughts wandered. Starting up again Syqvara toyed with the long feathers on Elyam's head. Could she claim that everything that happened was worth the life that was lost? Talin had never actually come back to tell her that Ingwe was gone, but she took it as a sign. He didn't want to have to deal with her grief. Something she understood well enough.

Oddly, she didn't fault the bandit for it. He'd never struck her as the type to really like dealing with emotions from others. Turning her thoughts to the battle that had taken place she did feel some embarrassment that she'd gotten knocked out. Even more so when she thought about having to bother Nyiim with it. She learned later, after she woke up, that he'd carried her off the field. Something she was grateful for but often wondered if he would have been of better use remaining on the battle field to fight off the extremists. Giving a small sigh she shook her head and pushed the thoughts aside. There was nothing she could do about it now. Plus, she had since seen Nyiim and he didn't seem at all bothered by what had transpired at that time. So why was she?

Taking her hand away from her familiar Sy moved so that she could sit up. She'd gotten plenty of sleep since her return home so she had energy that she wanted to use. The thought crossed her mind to practice her spells. In case another battle broke out soon. She had thought that the Oban war would have been the end of it all, but then the Alkidikes had some issue with the rest of Tendaji and the fighting had started up all over again. It was enough to make the dream walker wonder just when the next battle would take place and the reason behind it.

With the Oban war brought up in her memory she was forced to reminisce about her father. Sy and her brother, Cyn, had lost their father to the war. He'd gone off to be a hero and had never come back. It was the major event in her life that had made her curl up on herself. Syqvara had always been a daddy's girl when she was a youngling, so losing him had been like losing a part of herself. Recently she was finding that part, slowly. Now she wasn't speaking with a stutter and she was more willing to show how beautiful she was. "I wonder what dad would say now?" It occurred to her that perhaps he'd be happy that his little girl was finally letting others see her for who she was. Sy smiled and wrapped her arms around Elyam when he seemed to demand more attention. "I think he'd say that familiars sleep outside." She decided to tease the large bird.

Still, Syqvara had become very curious about her father in the past several months. Perhaps it was time she approached the subject with her mother. If she was lucky then she could really learn what type of man her father was.
