Several hours after the news first begins reporting disappearances, the thunderous rainstorm begins to move on. The fog is thinning. People can go home now, but...

On the window of Darlene's, there has been painted a strange glyph, in such a way that it couldn't have been missed while it was being painted. Somehow it was. The street is blanketed thickly with single sheets of paper. They bear the legend:

IT WALKS.

The radio is urging people to remain inside and not touch any of the sheets of paper.

What do you do?

Borr wouldn't let the news stay on. It was depressing and repetitive and nothing much had changed. It wasn't until they noticed that the fog was thinning, that he flipped the channel back to the local news. A ticker read along the bottom of the screen overtop of regularly scheduled programming until something at all had changed.

WIl had been in and out all day, every hour almost, to puff on something. Sometimes he'd take the dogs with him at Borr's instruction, but smoking was something to do besides nap and tell free fortunes. Free being the worst part.

"Hey guys..." He was headed out again, hand on the knob, "What's that?"

The glyph was visible from the inside too and Wil, already headed out, decided to continue his trip. Out to the front of the building he looked at it from the outside, a hand coming up to scratch his bouncing blonde curls. "Weird."

Something rustled against his shoe and Wil leaned to snatch up a sheet of paper and look at it.

Nasir had kept up with making sure everyone had something to eat, that there was always something to try, as well as trying to wrangle a few bites here and there for himself.

He was a few steps behind Wil this time, needing to get out of Darlene's because he simply could not be inside anymore. Wil was out in the fog, therefore he could be out in the fog. It was just that simple.

"When did that get there?" he blinked at the glyph, coming up to stand beside Wil. "You see it earlier?" He reached out to touch the glyph with a finger, wanting to know if the paint was dry. It had to be fresh, had to be.

The paper Wil looks at bears two words, handwritten with a brush of some kind:

IT WALKS.

As he reads it, there is a brief feeling of a hand cupping the back of his neck.

The paint is wet from the fog, but it's also gummy to the touch. It's been there for a good while. Nasir's hand comes away in the same raspberry red as the paint; the color is brilliant, almost gemstone in its quality. This is the kind of expensive paint artists would kill for, and one that Wil might recognize as quinacridone red.

"Weird." Wil said around his joint, which was clenched in his lips.

A weird pressure on the back of his neck he only took for the general creep level of their surroundings. Wil nudged Nasir, passing him the paper, "Check it out."

He lit his smoke and stepped up to the glyph. He also touched it, saw it for what it was, and repeated, "Weird."

It wasn't the kind of paint you tagged a window with. And they hadn't seen anyone out here. He was sure the mark wasn't here the last time he'd come out because he'd made some face through the window at everyone inside.

"Borr's gonna be so mad." He glanced cooly at Nasir.

Melina was not having the best of days. You could only eat cinnamon rolls for so long until their sticky-sweetness became heavy and thick in the pit of your stomach and, as much as she enjoyed Wil and her co-workers, they weren't her best friends. They weren't her parents, whom she was worried sick about, and they sure as s**t weren't as nice as her bed.

Deciding that enough was enough, that the fog was thin enough for her to try and go home, Lina stepped outside and heard the crunch of paper under her shoes. It wasn't the crinkly-dry like you would expect from crunching leaves; this was fresh. She bent to pick one up and immediately dropped it again when she saw the words.

Blood flowed out of her face and she immediately turned to scramble back into the bar like something was chasing her. "I don't know what the ******** is going on but I want to wake up now!!"

Nasir's hand fell away, fingers rubbing at the paint on them. It was a really pretty color, something he thought he remembered Wil going on about at one point or another. The smoke from Wil's joint had him rubbing at his nose (the one without the paint, thankfully).

"Extremely weird," he muttered as he took the piece of paper. The feeling of a hand at his neck, fingers at his skin, had him giving a full body shiver.

The cook blinked, did not release the piece of paper (that now had the paint on it), and turned to Wil. "So mad," he added, "especially because it wasn't here earlier which means someone did it and ..." That feeling still was there and he wiggled his non-paint covered fingers at the blonde.

Universal code for Nasir totally wanted a hit.

A rare thing indeed.

While Wil was passing his joint to Nasir outside, Borr's attention had been drawn by Meli inside.

The large man stepped forward, hearing her commotion and holding out his hands, "Whoah whoah-"

His hands settled on her shoulders, "What's wrong?" His eyes drifted out the window and caught sight of the symbol. "What's going on??"

Dhan looked out the window at Meli's distressed shout, and sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I'll go get a bucket," he said. He could see where his day was going and it was to scrubbing paint off the windows.

"How'd that even get there without anyone noticing," he added. "I... it would've had to make noise?"

Some of the immediate panic slipped from Lina's face when Borr's hands came to rest against her shoulders, strong and solid, but the fear remained. "There's like...hundreds of pieces of paper out there with this creepy writing. IT WALKS." she intoned, doom in her voice. Being a drama queen was something you could generally count on the brunette for but this wasn't overreacting, in her opinion. This was 100% justified.

Hearing the words about the bucket she turned to look where the other two men were, eyes wide. "This is so bogus. So hugely, ridiculously, bogus." A short, quiet spate of Cantonese followed and, while most didn't understand the words themselves, the tone was very clear as to what Lina was doing: she was praying.

Tom; who’d been chilling in a booth, honestly about 3/4 asleep in a ‘pre-evening-show-nap.
But things were… happening now, he pushed himself up, scrubbing at his cheek in case there was any hint of drool that might have gathered there. He gave a small laugh and an apology to his utterly -perfect- boyfriend and slipped out of the booth.
“Just gonna check this out, this is…way more interesting sounding than that stupid fog.” he grinned.

“Hey! Lina-chiquita!” It didn’t really rhyme, but he liked to pretend it did. Even if they had stopped dating that particular nickname wasn’t going anywhere as far as he was concerned.
“What’s the low down? I mean we had fog like cotton candy or one of my bad hair days before…what is UP with this?”

He patted a hand down on her shoulder tilting his head and eyeing the papers.

“It …walks? Ok? so it…has no drivers license?”

Nasir was standing outside still with Wil, taking a hit from the joint and passing it back to him a moment later. His hand was still sticky with the paint, rubbing it off onto the flyer and then letting it fall to the ground.

"Any ideas on how to clean that off?" he asked Wil, leaning against the other a moment. "Dhan's probably already trying to get something together to clean it." Never mind Borr would probably like it gone. Anything that was going to spook MORE was not necessary.

He could hear the snatches of conversation from inside but ... Well. Nasir was wiggling fingers for another hit.

Marcoa leaned froward as he watched Tom nap. Sometimes he took a break to watch one of his boyfriend's shows, but it didn't happen often. When it did, Marcoa actually took in every moment he was there, and that included watching his usually busy boyfriend have some down time.

But when things started happening and a buzz came upon the station, Marcoa's interest piqued and he got up and tried to follow Tom out.

"What's happening?" He asked, hanging out of the door way, eyeing the blond with a slight squint.

Wendy had work always, fog or not, the radio was always on and especially times like these people tuned in more than ever. After her early morning shift she'd texted her brother to find he was at Darlene's.

Cid got the next text in which she told him she was coming by to meet him, and not to touch the goddamn papers (they'd been blasting it all over the radio), and they were going to Darlene's.

She found the man hanging a sign on his shop door:

azuredreams

4th Wall Comics

CLOSED FOR APOCALYPSE
THE HYPE IS REAL

#4thwallcomics

"You didn't pick up the damn papers did you?" The dark haired woman eyes him over her glasses as she lined up her phone to snap a picture of the sign for instagram, while holding out a drink carrier to him with Starbucks for the both of them. Starbucks was ALWAYS open.

"Hmm.. #fogpocalypse2016," she had a tendency to murmur her hashtags aloud as she thought of them, "#thehypseisreal #4thwallcomics #wwmiradio. BLOOP. Send."

"Tom is at Darlene's. Lemme text him."

Cid had work. Cid always had work. Cid was always at the 4th wall - even when the #fogpocalypse2016 was going down. Not that he had gotten many customers and that was probably why he was dressed normally. There was no costume on, no sight of any kind of cosplay, just the small man in a nice button up shirt, his shoulder holster for his phone, and a pair of jeans as he came out of the shop after Wendy had texted.

"Nnnghhh. I thought about it," he admitted, glancing over his shoulder at her. His glasses slid down his nose and he pushed them back up before straightening the sign and stepping away. "********, yes, Starbucks is always open." Gimme, gimme. He was taking the drink carrier and holding onto it, going for his own.

"With the boyfriend, yeah?" Cid glanced towards her, not even phased by the muttering. He was worse. Don't think otherwise. "But, yeah, back to earlier. Totally wanted to touch one. I WAS GOING TO," he grinned, a little manic and definitely trouble, "but ... there were some cops that were scrambling to pick them all up." He shrugged. "For the best. IT WALKS sounds like a terrible movie title, to be honest."

Once she got everything posted, they could head to Darlene's.
