School had gotten let out for the day and Aviont'e took it upon himself to go for a walk. He needed to clear his head as well as hunt for fresh clumps of wood to fiddle with. Changing into more comfortable attire and grabbing his 'hunting sack', Newt headed off school grounds to a nearby area that was grassy and yet had a lush amount of trees. It was secluded enough that not many knew about it, but one could easily find it if they wanted to, so he could easily find his way back home without the fear of getting lost or hurt if he strayed too far.
Within moments of arriving, Newt was already humming happily as he searched the ground for trinkets and treasures pertaining to his hobby of wood carving. Even the occasional oddly shaped rock or stick found its way into his sack, his green eyes dancing with glee at each find.

Sasori was still new to the Academy and hadn't quite learned everything that they probably should have about the school grounds. So when recess came, they had decided to explore and had quickly found themselves off school grounds with no idea that they had done it. They were having a good enough time looking at all the flowers and butterflies, exploring new plants they had never seen before, until they realized they were all alone and had no idea how to get back!
Sasori frowned, looking around as the trees loomed ahead, not sure where to turn and the further they tried to move the more they got lost. "Is anyone around..?" Their small voice questioned only to hear the chirping of birds. What were they going to do?

Newt had been digging in some dirt to uncover a larger piece of wood than he expected and was in the process of burying it again when he heard a small voice call out in question. His ears twitched slightly as he stands up, dusting the dirt off onto his pants and looking about a moment. Normally he wasn't one to speak up, but it sounded like a nightmare much younger than he was, so he was duty bound as a more responsible being to help them out if they needed it.
"Over here." He calls out, hopefully loud enough that it was heard but not like he was screaming at them. The hybrid made his way through the brush towards the voice, careful of his step in the undergrowth.

Sasori had been wandering around for what seemed like forever, though it honestly wasn't for more than a couple of minutes. When they heard the voice, they felt a little flutter of happiness and did their best to move through the tangled brush toward it. They got a few cuts on their legs and a couple of small twigs clinging to their sweater before they finally made it, but they were happy enough that they had. When they noticed the other person, they gave a small smile with a tiny awkward wave of their hand. They were a bit surprised to see that it was a hybrid like themself and also had Geist blood. "Umm... thank you! I'm a little lost and if you hadn't heard me..." They shook their head, not wanting to think about how long they might be out here on their own if the Junior wasn't here as well. "My name is Sasori." They tugged at the end of their skirt in a nervous gesture, completely giving away that they weren't used to talking to others.

Upon seeing the younger nightmare, Newt had to refrain from running away at the sight of their mix. They were younger and needed his help, most likely the didn't have any stigma about how different he was considering they too were a hybrid. He shoved his mental fear down and walks up to the youngster, a small smile on his face.
"No problem. You can call me Newt." He glances down at the others legs and reaches around to shuffle into his bag, "You got a couple of cuts, hop up on that big rock if you can and lemme clean them up." He motions to a decent sized rock nearby and pulls out a travel sized first aid kit. Newt was prone to cutting himself on all sorts of stuff while digging and kept himself ready, "And curious, how'd you get out here all by yourself without your caretaker knowing?"

Sasori tilted their head slightly when they noticed the reaction. They weren't sure what to make of it though, or why the other seemed apprehensive at first. They nibbled their nails a little, showing a slight anxiety before finally deciding that the other meant them no harm. "It's nice to meet you, Newt." She thought it was a strange name, but the other was a Nixie too, maybe that was just how they did names? They had never met a Nixie before, so they weren't really that sure how things were done in their culture.
At the request, they nodded slightly and shimmied themselves onto the rock with a little bit of work. Sasori was quite small, even for their age, and being surrounded by trees and bushes made them somehow look even smaller and more frail. "Thank you." They said gently, trying to keep themself still like their mother always told them to do when they got cuts. "Umm... well.. it's recess.. and I went exploring. I guess I got too far out from the school.." They weren't really all that sure how they had gotten this far out, but she was glad all the same that they ran into someone who was so well prepared to help!

Setting aside a few different sizes of bandages, cleaning wipes, and some salve to prevent infection, Newt cocked his head to the side while listening to the other speak, "Aaah. I see now. This will probably sting a little." Carefully lifting one of the freshlings leg up, he dabbed at the biggest of the cuts and proceeded to wrap it up. "So, Sasori...what is it you enjoy most at school?" He knew that keeping an interesting topic going made ones mind not think about pains.
He stuffed the trash into a small bag in the kit as not to litter and moved onto the next little cuts, most of which didn't need bandages but did need a cleaning as there was dirt in them. When he finished the cuts, he idly plucked the bits of brush and twigs from the others hair and clothes.

Sasori tried their best to not make a sound as Newt cleaned up their scrapes, but he was right and as much as she tried she couldn't help but might a slight little hissing sound when the wound was cleaned. They bit down on their lip and squeezed their eyes shut, only opening them again when he had finished. "Thank you." They managed to say after the pain subsided. "I hope I'm not too much trouble for you." They hopped from the rock and dusted their skirt.
They blinked at the question, tilting their head to one side while thinking. "I... I like reading.. and coloring, I guess. It's neat to learn new facts and things I couldn't learn at home. But I guess the thing I like most is seeing things. It's not really a subject, I guess, but it's neat to see things I could never see before.. to experience new things." They didn't know how they were going to answer that question to begin with, but it seemed like a good answer now that it was said. School was still a strange place to them. "Like.. if I had never come here I never would have seen all these big trees!" They gestured around. "Nor would I have met you, and you seem really nice." She gave a small smile. "Are you from the Academy too?"

He let out a soft chuckle at her reply, tail twitching slightly behind him, "Experiencing new things may not be a subject, but it is something good to want. But yes, I go to the Academy too. I don't really get to interact with others very much since most every kind of avoids me, so I keep to myself in my room or out here." Newt waved a hand about his surroundings. He stuffed his kit back into his satchel and pulled out an interesting shaped hunk of wood. It was all twisted and twined about itself, "I like finding stuff like this out here. Kinda cool, no?" It was then he realized he had gotten comfortable around the freshling and it kind of took him by mental surprise. He normally didn't open up so fast about stuff he liked....maybe them being younger helped?

Sasori couldn't help but tilt their head to one side, a slight frown on their face. They rubbed one hand on their opposite arm. They didn't want to be rude and make the other person feel bad, but they couldn't help the question that came from their mouth, "Why would others avoid you? You seem really nice to me." There was a slight frown on their face as if they didn't completely understand. "I'll talk to you! If you'd like me to.."
Sasori took a step closer when they showed the piece of wood. "Ooo... so you like finding treasures then! That's really pretty. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. Can I touch it?" Sasori still wasn't used to being outside all that much, so all of this was really interesting to them. They never knew you could find such interesting things! It made them wonder if there were things like that at home, maybe all they had to do was look for them?

Taken aback momentarily by the total openness of the freshling, Newt paused and looked down at them for a moment. It didn't take long before he smiled and crouched down, balancing on his toes and putting his elbows on his knees, "Thank you, Sasori. I would love for you to talk to me. Not everyone is...as open as you are." He holds out the treasure to them, allowing them to take the item from his hand. "Sometimes the greatest treasures are often hidden from direct eyesight. It takes hard work and effort to dig it up and bring it to light."

Sasori was a little hesitant about taking the wood from him, but they carefully did so, examining it as they shifted the item around in their hand. It felt strange with all the bumps and different twists, but it was also smooth in some areas. "Are there a lot of items like this out here?" They questioned, holding the piece back out to its rightful owner. There was a small smile on the child's face, wondering what kind of items they might be able to find for themself.
"You don't really need to thank me." They replied, looking down at their legs. "I mean, you were the one that found me and helped me with my cuts. I should be thanking you. You've been really nice to me." There was a slight blush on their cheeks. They knew that their mother would probably be mad at them for going so far out from where they should be, but they couldn't help but want to explore things. "I just hope my mommy doesn't get too mad, or the teacher..." They hated making people mad. They weren't all that good with people, and making others disappointed was usually too much for them.

Newt stood upright and scratched the back of his head, "There are lots of items like that out here. In fact, you can have that one." He smiled softly, knowing he could easily find another trinket because he had practice, but the other hybrid might have a harder time. He glances back towards the lights from the edge of the school and scrunches up his face, "We should probably head back. I don't want you getting in trouble." Being the guy he was, he held out a hand to the other to help them through the tougher underbrush and trees, "It was indeed nice to meet you, though."

Aldrailian You can reply again if you'd like, but this will probably be the last from me! <3 Sasori couldn't help but blink several times when they heard the statement. "Are you sure?" They pulled the piece back to their chest, looking at it thoughtfully. A smile replaced the worry on their face and they bounced to their feet. "Thank you!" Lifting themself to their feet they placed a gentle kiss on the boy's cheek as a thank you.
Sasori's eyes shifted back toward the area they had come from and slightly nodded. If they spent too much time out here it was likely they'd get in trouble. It might be more feasible when they got older and were allowed to leave the school grounds, but for now Newt was right, they should get back to school before the teachers worried. "Ummm... okay." They were a little sad about having to leave their new found friend, though. "Maybe we'll meet again!"
