The trip was instant, as it always was - so was the drop in temperature. When she landed though it felt...different. There wasn't something encasing her feet and legs other than her boots. No snow...Pale eyes opened rather quickly and looked down. Where once had been snow, lots of it, was cobbled stones that were clearly weathered. Letting the other knight go she knelt and reached out to touch the stones. "Warm..." The heating extended this far? She knew the fountain, only some yards ahead of them, let out warm water so piping ran from inside and under the buildings to the fountain but to extend further beyond that? She hadn't known that but it made sense. People had to walk this area and snow and ice weren't safe. So the ground was kept snow and ice free by piping under it filled with hot water to keep snow melting and evaporating. That was how it had to work - the only way in her mind.
Staring up at the other knight, a smile in place, she stood up and ignoring the snow falling about them pointed to the ground. "Pipes are under there. I didn't realize it, I thought from the buildings to just the fountain. But the ground here was covered in snow and ice." And now it was free of both. The fountain stood where it had, at the halfway in all directions, hot water bubbling and babbling away. Now with the snow and ice gone she saw what looked like a large rock, or boulder, right in front of it. Making her way toward it she knelt down when she finally cleared the distance, it was much easier without all the snow and ice, and took note of the weathered and barely there markings cared into the stone. What they meant or what they looked like, for sure, was beyond her. But it had to be something important to be here.
Gloved fingers ran over the weathered rock before she stood slowly. "You can warm your hands and feet if you like in the fountain." Noting the others sandals. Even without snow an dice covering the ground those sandals were not good for the cold of Polaris and with snow falling it really wasn't good. "We can hurry into the library then." The one to the right had been cleaned fully, or as fully as she could, so that was the one they'd be headed for.
"And also, Welcome to Delphi." Bowing she motioned them an open invitation, to her wonder and the fountain." The water I figure can be trusted for drinking as well." What was there up here to pollute it? No animals or humans or anything else. It would just be hot or perhaps warm, once it left the basin due to the cold temperatures of Polaris, but it should be good - she'd yet to drink it herself.

Hyperborea was awestruck, as she often was visiting new wonders, Delphi was beautiful in a cold and grand sort of way. Given the warning of the squire before they left her wonder Hyperborea had been prepared to feel snow encasing her exposed toes yet the sensation never came.
Hyperborea watched the other girl's mind turn as she examined her walkway, she couldn't help the smile that came on her face when the girl explained what was going on. "It is a good sign, little by little we restore our wonders to their ancient glory." She said truly happy for the Polaris knight.
Hyperborea returned the bow with a curtsy of her own. "I am honored to be here. Your wonder is truly beautiful Delphi." She decided to take the woman up on her offer dipping her hands into the warm water and cupping some water in her hands to take a drink. The water was good, not polluted or anything, and it warmed her up on this cold world.

"It is, I did not know the pipes went this far or were close enough under the stones to melt the ice and snow. it's good." She should have thought about it but she had sort of figured people were just used to walking in the snow and ice here on Polaris. But to know that the streets, walk areas, were kept clear and by such means - it was impressive. She was glad to find it would be easy for herself and others to walk around here now. Now if only she could bring others here, if only she knew how far her wonder was from a city or other wonders. Maybe sometime soon she could explore a bit more? But the issue was distance, energy spent traveling in the snow once she left her wonder, and supplies like food and water.
"I hope to one day restore it fully, even if there is no life here, it would be nice to leave a fully restored wonder to the next generation. I just have to hope the next Delphi comes soon after so all I'll accomplish doesn't fall into ruin again." No, she wanted to pass on a restored and functioning wonder if she could.
"Thank you. Your wonder is beautiful as well. Different from mine, in the way the tropics compare to Russia in winter, but both have beauty." She said gently to the other, and it was true. "I hope you enjoy your time here exploring." Watching the other warm herself and sample the water. She was glad to know she could offer something here for the other, something warming. Now if she wanted she could sleep here and be warm and comfortable, have water. She just needed to find a place to bathe - a bathroom or something. That would be a search for another day.
"Follow me, we can see the library I've finished cleaning." Though not restoring. She had carpet to work on pulling up, since the wood under it seemed to be ok...maybe it wasn't and she'd discover that later. But she had to do something about the hole filled carpet that was decaying and just worn out. It was the library to their right where she headed, the left one still had some cleaning to be done. She'd come back soon and do that and hunt for living quarters, in the hopes of finding a bathroom of sorts.

"This is why I love wonders there is always something new to discover, it feels like the secrets these ancient places hold are endless." She said with a smile.
"I'm sure they will, the conditions seem to much different now than they were at the fall of the Silver Millennium but hopefully we won't have to find out one way or another for a very long time. I'd like for both of us to live long enough to enjoy the fruits of our labors." In truth she could care less about herself, she would gladly give her life for the cause of peace but she wanted Delphi at least to live long, she was kind and her goals were noble.
"Merci!" She said happy to have her wonder complimented.
"Sounds good, I can't wait to see it." She said following after the Polaris squire.

"It does. It feels...like an ancient historical site...but here in a place so far away...like discovery a fantasy world. Like if a small child were to get a Hogwarts letter and discover it was all real. That sort of fantasy discovery. Only here they are...ruins and need to be brought back to the glory they once were...so they can be as awe inspiring as they once were." Not that they weren't now but what this place must have once looked like? The whole complex...it would have been breath taking, more so than it was now.
"I would like that also. I would like if we could live long enough to see life at our wonders again, to see life on our planets and stars again." She said honestly. But if that happened then what would she do? Would she move up here? Could she leave her family...or would they move here? What would happen....She would of course be expected to live here - at her wonder. She wasn't even sure if she minded the idea completely. Though all the things she would be giving up...the familiar places and people. Would they have to give up schooling, careers, and other things all to be knights full time? These were things she had not ever thought of because the idea of living so long - living to see life here on Polaris and at her wonder...seemed so impossible.
"If we never see life at our wonders...I want to at least see what it once looked like before the fall of Polaris. I would like to see Hyperborea before it's fall as well." Even if there were no people besides them she wanted to still see that - fully restored wonders. But did she honestly think it possible? No...this was a war and it could take her life, which she gladly risked in every fight she got into, and how long would it take to restore everything? Lights and power of whatever other kinds this wonder had once had were the big things. She had water and heat, a vast improvement from before. But how much further did she need to go? Did her wonder need to come?
Smiling at the younger, and smaller, knight she lead the way into the library. Inside the building was - round as was to be expected. The walls were nothing but book shelving, filled with books, till it reached the opposite wall where there was a large fireplace and mantel. But there was a ceiling that was above them...maybe six feet off the floor. That was the floor to the second floor of the library. Not just that but other than the wall being nothing but shelves of books there were book shelves set up going around the room to their right and left, leaving a clear path for them to the fireplace. It was there that you could find chairs and desks as well as, closer to the fireplace, low coffee tables, couches and arm chairs with small side tables and lights. The place was set up for reading and discussions. Once they stepped past the rows of book shelves the ceiling above them gave way to open air all the way to the domed ceiling of the tower.
That ceiling was...a second floor. A second floor with more book shelves going round and small desks set up with lamps and chairs. A place to study and be less social. There were stairs which lead up to the second floor from the first - thankfully. The carpets were...in really bad shape but the books and shelves had been cleaned as had the wooden furniture which was from Venus, as far as she somehow knew. The lights were metal though and lacked cords or any idea on where the power for them came from.
"I want to perhaps pull up the carpet and see if the floors are good under it. They seem to be wood." She explained lightly.

"It's like finding out Middle Earth is real and then being given a key to go there whenever you want. Its funny a year ago this all seem possible only in the pages of a fantasy or science fiction novel. Yet here we are on an alien planet standing in halls of an ancient wonder with the duty to protect and rebuild them." She said taking in the wonder of the place before her.
"I'm sure we'll see their full glory someday. I mean the code must have made us knights for a reason right, I like to think this was part of it." she tried to assure her fellow knight.
"This place is amazing, oh what I wouldn't give to be able to read these books. The secrets they must hold." She said marveling at the library. It was taking all of her will power to not rush off to explore like a little kid.
"If you want a second pair of hands to help with that let me know. I don't know much about carpentry but I'm good at following directions and I'm a hard worker." She offered.

"Yes, it does feel something like that. But also different...but that does explain it to a degree. It's hard to truly put into words the feelings and the thoughts." She said honestly. It was very hard to word how it was walking around such a place, a very old and ancient place devoid of life. A place where how everyone died was unknown and the place itself could be rebuilt - the grandeur rebuilt and held once more. To see what was here already, not as ruined as Greek or Roman ruins back on Earth. It was so hard to put into proper words.
"That we will be the ones to bring our wonders back - fully?" She asked. It was a wonderful idea but not one she was sure about. But the code had most certainly seen to them waking for a reason. Why not past generations? Why them? There had to indeed be a reason.
"I wish as well. The other tower is a library as well - but still dirty. The building between them is a court house as are the other buildings here. I've not gotten to cleaning them either. It's a lot of work." Nodding her head she smiled at the other. "I might enjoy the company and help - it can be boring here for hours just cleaning. It would be good if we help each other with our wonders. I plan to look into carpentry, among other things, and see if I can't purchase what is needed to remove all the carpet and check the wooden floors." If they were good she could clean them up and seal them and tend to them.
"Go and explore if you'd like. Most of the books are in good shape. You won't be able to read them but you can look." She finally said while resting a hand on the others shoulder. "Enjoy, this is a library and should be enjoyed."

"Merci." She said as she started looking through the shelves of books.
"Perhaps it's because for how much of the wonders are destroyed and dead their core's still live. The presence of the code piece still lingers on in these magical places. A connection from their glorious past to the present." She theorized. As she walked around the library she picked books off the shelf and carefully flipped through them. What she wouldn't give to be able to read these ancient text, what secrets they must have.
"I mean why not, they fell in a single generation, so in theory couldn't they be rebuilt in one as well, maybe they won't be repopulated but I think we can at least fix the structures." She said though in all honesty she was less confident in larger wonders like her's getting fully repaired.
"I'd love to help you with that stuff." She said honestly, she enjoyed being with the older knight and she would be happy to contribute to fixing up a wonder.

"Perhaps. I doubt we'll ever know for sure. Not that the lack of answers will stop people from questioning and wondering." She added the last part almost as an after thought. Watching the younger move around and take books from the selves, flipping them open. She, just like Hyperborea, wished she could read them. She wished she could at least understand the laws back then and how they worked, it would give some glimpse into the past and how people lived.
"Perhaps, though I honestly don't know. It seems a lot of the rebuild falls to our shoulders and without materials here, having to bring them with us, it seems so impossible. Some things we won't be able to bring up to space, due to size, to fix things. The lack of power sources that are compatible as well...it feels like we can make some strides but never enough." It felt like being in a tunnel and only being able to see the light but never reach it...but still trying, she wouldn't stop trying to do whatever she could for her wonder.
"Repopulation...that seems utterly impossible due to food being an issue. You can't just bring food here from Earth - too much strain on Earth to produce more. No animals live here and they aren't likely to just crop up. At best people can spend short trips here and I think that'll be it at least for a long time. They'll need to populate like Earth did...which means, in all likelihood, a knight for the wonder that whole time." To feed the wonder and for the connection, for the magic and the care. Maybe in time, if people repopulated, they'd also regain the lost language and thus knowledge as well? She wasn't sure about that, it wasn't likely. But she was hoping to help her wonder and not just for the short term. She wanted to set it up, as best she could, for future generations so it could become more.
"I'll help you as well. We will help each other. I want to see our wonders flourish again - yours is truly amazing." And her own...it was her's and so she was bound to be bias.
"It won't be easy...it never will be." Would they still be coming here, to space, as old ladies? If they lived through this war? That could be interesting...would they pass on their knighthood to someone else? Or would it pass on it's own? How would that even go. So many things unknown and such a future to be built, starting here with simple things.
Walking around the room, finger tips touching various books and shelves. She didn't take any books from their resting places. She let herself just walk and observe and talk.
