Lucien didn't get homesick very much. He had been an orphan back there. But it was still home, and the desert was vastly different than the lush greenery of the Asphodel Gardens. When the urge to feel sand and stone was too strong, Luci would pad across the sand boxes, his fluffy tail whisking across the grains and feeling at home.Today he wasn't so much homesick as he was lonely. Sure, there were tons and tons of nightmares, and lots and lots of freshlings, but they didn't understand. They didn't get what he meant when he talked about certain cultural things. The caretakers were warm and caring, but they didn't purr like the ones back home, or know how to nuzzle a freshling ears and put them to bed.
Lucien took to a tree, scaling it up high, high, high until he curled up on the upper limbs. Peeking over the side, he watched as others played peacefully, unaware of the little sadness the normally cheerful Bakeneko held.
