Sins and Virtues CYOA

|| IC ||

It all began with a dream.

The type of dream was typical. Soft, light, full of love and security. You find yourself moving throughout this world that you have created, experiencing your favorite memories and surrounding yourself with your greatest joys. It's all so peaceful, and you could stay here forever if it were possible.

As you drift about endlessly, your world is overtaken by an enormous shiver. The space around you contracts and cracks, pushing and pulling before suddenly twisting as if it were being drained somehow. You fall, your body moving faster and faster as the colors around you blend into one mass. There is no pain, but you feel sick and disoriented, losing focus on all that is around you as you plummet seemingly endlessly.

Then, all at once, it is over.

You land on a softened ground. The sky above you is filled with a mix of black, green and red. The trees twist into shapeless masses, taking on the forms of beasts you both recognize and have never seen before. There is no fear in you, just a sense of confusion as you finally move to stand. You are in a clearing, the colors around you muted along with the sounds, and you are alone. You can explore the clearing, or settle where you are, but at the moment you seem to be trapped in the immediate area around you.

xxxxx||. Younglings + Prentices have 15 HP
xxxxx||. Stage 2s have 20 HP
xxxxx||. Stage 3 + 4s have 25 HP

V'demhe
Post 1 - Intro
HP 25

She had fallen asleep after all of the encounters she had with the Oban beast known as the Janarim. V'demhe felt her body relax and her mind drift away as rest took her into it's arms and cradled her against it's bosom. As usual she started to dream, a common event for her when her mind and body were exhausted as they were.

This dream was about Aisha and the islands she resided on. Dem knew she missed home but seeing it so fresh in her dream made it bearable. Everything was as she remembered it. The thick trunk covered in rough bark as the roots twist from the bottom and delve into the earth. Even the leaves were the same vibrant green she used to love gazing at. A breeze toyed with them and a smile lit her face. Aisha was pleased to see her daughter and filled her with a sense of warmth and security. With love.

V'demhe sat down in the lush grass to enjoy her time under the cover of her mother's branches. The scene was perfect in her eyes. The only thing really missing was her family. How she would love to show her daughters this and share it with them and their father.

Then suddenly a cold shiver raced down her spine. It happened in and out of the dream but didn't cause her to wake. At first she thought it was from the breeze that was playing with the things around her but when her eyes noticed things contorting and cracking she knew it was something else. Dem watched as things seemed to turn into a whirlpool of sorts and drain away. Since she was sitting she was pulled along with it and soon found herself falling, tumbling down. Down. Down. From what she could see she was moving faster and faster but as she was twisting in the air she felt a wave of nausea hit. It was enough to make her eyes close so that she didn't have to see the bright colors streaming by.

Then it stopped. All of a sudden her body was still and there was no more feeling of being in the air. When she chanced a peek V'demhe saw that she had landed on the ground. Soft, forgiving ground. Had it been that way before? As she got to her feet the warrior couldn't help but become curious of what had happened to her dream world. The sky was awash with colors that looked foreboding. Was something about to happen? Perhaps.

However, it wasn't just the sky that had changed. The trees were twisted and contorted into shapes that she didn't recognize as foliage. They seemed to take on the appearance of beasts. Some she could identify right off the bat. Others.. not so much. Dem looked confused as she turned her head to look around. No longer was her world full of vibrant colors. Instead it looked like dull, muted colors. Even the sounds were drowned out as though she was under water. What had happened to her dream? Was her subconscious mind trying to tell her something? To test it she took a deep breath. Nothing was obstructing her breathing, so she wasn't actually under water. But with that answer she didn't know what was going on. Perhaps if she looked around the clearing she could find her answer?

Dem thought she could so she moved slowly around both exploring the clearing and trying to find a way out of it.

Huyana
Post 1 - Intro
HP 20

A hard days worth of travel saw him sleeping well in a small pile of comfortable furs. His mind had drifted off and he was back at home. Huyana enjoyed dreams such as this. He was in the comforts of luxury with lovers all around him. What more could a guy ask for? Wealth. Love. Freedom. Those were what he liked and his mind knew it well. His dreams served as a type of therapy for him when his days were hard.

Sadly the good dream wouldn't last. Huy felt a shiver ripple across his body but he saw it move across his dream. The scene before him started to change. It moved and broke as though it were both a liquid and a solid all at once. The beautiful faces of his lovers cracked and the wealth that surrounded him started to swirl. The young man watched it all with a mild fascination. Then all at once the beautiful things around him turned into a vortex and pulled him down with it. The strong sensation of falling was enough to churn his stomach and make him feel ill. Huyana didn't like it all that much and had to hold his middle just to keep from losing his dinner.

Just when he thought he was going to officially get sick it all stopped and he was laying on some squishy ground. Huy groaned as he rolled to his side and slowly got up. Despite the dizzy feeling that lingered he wasn't so sick feeling that he couldn't notice the sky. It was dark with streaks of green and red. To him it looked almost evil. How peculiar. He spent the better part of five minutes just staring at the sky before he noticed that he was surrounded by trees that.. well they didn't look like trees. Was he having a nightmare?

With a confused look on his face he got to his feet and slowly turned in a circle to see where he had landed. Huy couldn't see anything but the twisted trees though he was pleased that they had given him a wide berth so that he didn't have to go near them. While he thought about trying to get out he didn't like the idea of being close to the wicked looking trees so he stayed put in the middle of the clearing.

Briella
Post 1 - Intro
HP: 25 HP

Although she was never one to complain things were hard for the now Scared Heart. She had gained a new title, of which she was beyond proud, but now she had more responsibilities. Granted most of those were self imposed responsibilities, but still. Then she was still worrying day and night about her daughter. She didn't know what to do with Ilyra. It seemed nothing she did could get Ilyra out of the funk she was in. As she laid down to go to sleep all of this swirled in her brain and soon enough she was dreaming.

At first the dream is nice and full of the kind of happiness that Briella wished was in her every day life. It was peaceful and everything around her was exactly how she wanted it. Being there gave her a sense of wonder, and if she thought hard it made her realize why Ilyra slept so much. It was nice to see all the good things in her life, all the things she was proud of.

All of a sudden things started changing and Briella found herself falling, moving so fast that she couldn't figure out where she was falling to or if she would just be falling forever. Then as if nothing had happened she landed on the ground, and this was not the world she had been in earlier. This was much more sinister, much more alone. Standing up Briella looked around. There had to be a way out.

Ilyra
Post 1 - Intro
HP: 25 HP

Ilyra loved to dream. It was what she did with most of her time. Sleep and dream that was with her girlfriend once again. Tonight however the dream was different. She wasn't just with her girlfriend, she was with everyone. Tonight's dream was more like a walk down memory lane. Sure her girlfriend was in it, a lot, but she also had other good memories with her mother and other friends. Her life was better in this dream, and part of her felt that maybe things weren't as bad as she had been making them seem. Maybe things could be good like they were once more.

She was happy, basking in the boy of her life that she had been ignoring for so long, when the world around her began to fall apart. It was slow, but once it began there was no stopping it. The colors were blending together and she started falling, feeling disoriented and even a little motion sickness. She struggled to right herself but try as she might there was nothing she could do to stop herself from falling and feeling sicker and sicker.

When she feel to the ground she stayed where she was, partially frozen in fear of where she was now and another part of her angry. Anger flowing through her. Why couldn't she just stay where she was. It was nice there. She was happy. Now that happiness had been ripped from her in her dreams just as it had been in real life.

Edathe
HP - 15

Edathe let her mother tuck her in for the night and the lights in her room went dark. After a long day of tutoring and lessons she was glad to be able to just sleep and rest. Her body was tired just from thinking so much. She rolled over onto her side and let herself fall into a deep deep sleep.

Her dream started peacefully enough, she was playing somewhere. It didn't really make sense to her, but it sort of looked like her friend's house. She felt the warm light of the fires keep the house lit and moved her little arms back and forth to the toys in front of her. The doll was her favorite. She smiled and picked up the doll from the floor and moved herself to her feet. But as she stood it was like she couldn't ever get her balance. She wobbled one way and then the other before the room around her fell away and she was falling. She was panicked and she felt her heart pounding in her chest, like she was running a mile, but then without warning she had found ground again.

She opened her eyes and saw the light filtering in from the trees. Well she had never been here before, it was strange. She felt like there was water in her ears, she couldn't really here anything but muddled birds chirping. She still had the doll in her hands though, but she just stayed where she was, not really knowing where to go or what to do. Where was she?

Vaena
HP - 15

Vaena pulled her sleeping gown over her head and nearly fell down into her bed. She was exhausted. She had worked the marketplace all day for her parents and she just wanted to drift off and not have to worry about trying to woo potential customers. She shut her eyes and pulled the covers up to her chin and let herself just fade away.

But when she faded back she was back in the merchant stalls. She was rustling through the inventory and pulling things out here and there for customers that never seemed to stop. She sighed and put her hand to her forehead. Where was that one piece. What was it she was looking for? She reached down into a box and without warning she fell in.

She fell in but didn't stop falling, it was black emptiness all around her and she was just plummeting downward. And then it stopped. She was lying in a field she didn't recognize, with colors that weren't familiar to her and she had to squint at the sunlight. Where was she? She didn't know but she didn't know if she cared to know. Maybe it was better than the merchant stalls. Correction: it was definitely better than the merchant stalls. So she just laid there and waited.

Mirin
HP - 15

Mirin didn't even know if she could sleep. She felt like she hadn't really done anything and hadn't worked off the energy she was just building up until she was almost sure she would burst. She threw off her clothes and jumped into bed with only her underwear before she rolled one way... and then the other... and then on her stomach.

She was never going to do it. She huffed and rolled around until she was laying the wrong way on the bed. Maybe if she just stopped her head. She tried to stop thinking and after what felt like hours she finally felt it. She was out for the count.

She opened her eyes and she was in the forest up on one of the highest branches. She could almost see into the canopy, and it was so bright. She took off running, like she always did, moving through the forest with sure feet. She leaped from one branch aiming for the next, like she had done a million times before, but the tree disappeared. Her eyes widened as she fell, but where there should have been ground to meet her was nothingness. She was just continually falling. When it finally ended she was somewhere else. She didn't recognize it and the trees weren't as tall as they should have been. She swiveled her head back and forth before pushing herself to her feet and running the perimeter of the clearing. What was she doing from here?

Jacinthus - Post 1
HP: 25

Jacinthus was having a nice dream, one in which he and Takoda were on a walk, chatting about nothing in particular, and on Jacin's back was Korra who was, in this dream, still a youngling. He turned to look over his shoulder at her, giving a bit a of a smile, then to Takoda, giving his mate's hand a squeeze, before they continued forward, still talking. It was one of those nice dreams that, when he woke up, would only make him that much more determined to keep going toward the vacation he was planning for the lot of them.

His nice dream was shattered a moment later as a strange shiver went through the dream world, cracks forming under his feet, and he found himself falling end over end, feeling as though he was falling out of the sky toward the ground. It was a nauseating sensation that made him feel awful all over... and a moment later he was landing in a heap on the ground, alone. Jacinthus lay there for a time, his head spinning, before he sat up slowly, rubbing a hand against his forehead, "Ahhh... what was that?" Not a good dream at all. Pushing himself to his feet he found himself wondering what was going, what sort of dream that had been, before he realized that it wasn't over.

This time his dream world was filled with a lot of strange colors, twisted trees, and strange beasts that he'd never seen before. It wasn't a dream he'd ever had before, not really one to dream of fantasy worlds, and he found himself pacing a bit. This wasn't his sort of dream, instead one that just made him miss Takoda and Korra instantly. Time to wake up from this dream or return to the other one he thought to himself, moving forward a few steps, before he realized that he was stuck within the section of strangely colored dream world where he was pacing. It was a bit scary, thinking he was stuck, but he wasn't about to let that show as he set to searching around for an exit.

Chalcedony - Post 1
HP: 25

The forest of Jauhar or at least the version in his dream was rather quiet, peaceful in fact, save for the maglardilla buzzing up a storm. It was just Chalcedony and his thoughts at the moment. He didn't have to carry his shield, instead leaving it sitting on one of the high branches of the trees that he was standing in. He had his arms crossed behind his head, looking out over across the forest he gave a smile, "It's really nice out today. I think I might go for a walk." A nice, peaceful walk, one that didn't include fighting or patrolling, just him enjoying the scenery of his dream Jauhar.

Of course the moment that he took a step forward toward that walk the branches under his feet broke, causing him to fall, his arms flailing as he did so. He was expecting to crash into the roots of the tree, certain that it was going to hurt like crazy... if he survived the fall. It was the first time he'd fallen so far and it was odd that there were no branches between himself and the ground this time. There was nothing to try to catch hold to, just an open fall that seemed to go on forever... before he landed safely upon soft, squishy ground... and much to his surprise there were no more trees around him. At least not the kind that he'd been standing in moments ago, a few distant and strangely twisted ones, but that was it. To make it even stranger was the fact that his shield had seemingly fallen with him.

Leaning over Chal swept up the shield, putting it on his back, before he found himself starring up at a strangely stained sky. The colors were... very wrong, as were the beasts roaming about around him. He looked from side to side, then lifted a hand up to scratch it against his chin, "Where in the... world...?" Definitely not Jauhar, nor was it any other place he'd visited in his time, meaning he was somewhere new, somehow? Walking forward Chalcedony set to exploring... until he ran into an invisible wall. Strange, was he stuck? This dream was getting weirder and weirder... and definitely not in a good way.

Matchitemin
HP - 20

He picked his way through a glittering cave, moving with casual ease. As it always was in dreams, he didn’t know how he’d gotten here -- where this cave had started, and how long he had been underground. He did had a sense that he was somewhere deep and isolated. It didn’t worry him. If anything, it made him feel safe. There would be no one else here to disturb him besides perhaps some animals, and he didn’t mind their presence.

At first, he thought that he was caught in a cold draft. Something seemed to push him forward, and he stumbled several times, struggling under the weight of whatever it was. Each time, getting up seemed far more difficult. His legs wouldn’t work properly, and the cave itself seemed to twist impossibly, bending and bowing away from him. It even tipped, like a giant teeter-totter, downwards. This of course sent all the rocks and boulders strewn over the cavern floor to roll downwards as well, taking Matchitemin with him.

In some dream-logic, he didn’t get hurt. But he was thrown about like so many other rocks, until finally falling --

Face-down into sand.

When he looked up, there were no rocks and no cave. Instead there was a terrifying red sky and cruel, shadowy things all around him.

Niadra
Post 1 - Intro
HP: 25 HP

Dreaming wasn't something that Niadra did often. Most of the time she was just to plain tired to dream, but really she didn't mind it. The way she thought about it was that she didn't need to dream since her life was so wonderful in the real world. She had the dream boyfriend, the dream job, everything in her waking life was just perfect and she wanted it to stay that way. So when all of a sudden she was in a dream soon after falling asleep Niadra was a little confused. However the dream was nice and much like her every day life so she didn't really question it.

Walking through the dream world she couldn't help but smile fondly. All the good things in her life were displayed before, all her happiest memories. This was a world she wouldn't mind staying in for just a while longer.

Just as she was getting into it though things started to change. It wasn't as wonderful as before, there were cracks in the walls of of her dream and before she could even look around to see what was causing these issues she was falling. Falling into a nothingness that seemed to go on forever. That seemed the blur the color of her dreams and give her a headache.

Finally she landed, and pinched herself almost right away. This wasn't a place she wanted to be in anymore. She wanted out.

|| Naqenni
|| Post: 1
|| HP: 15

      It began with thunder.

      Not of the sky or gods, but of people, all below her, whistling, shouting, cheering, or sobbing, it didn’t matter: she was their focus. She stood above them, elevated high on some platform of stone that, in her dream state she did not define any further than that, for it was more about the sensation than anything else. Victory. Adoration. Worship. Fear. All of these things surged from the crowd and ran through her, beating to the war drum of her pulse, the wind sharp at her cheek and this—this, surely, was everything she’d ever wanted for herself.

      Until it began to crumble.

      It stretched at the edges at first, pulling tight in some unexplained way, and the thrilled drum of her heartbeat quickened with something else. Anxiety, and fear of loss. She grew angry — at herself or the fragmenting world around her — because she didn’t want this to be over. But then it was. The world dropped. Colors meshed and spun like blood, water, and muck interweaving.

      When she hit ground again, Naqenni curled her toes, and narrowed her eyes. The ground was soft, familiar in this way, but the world around her was still unreal. Surreal in its alien qualities. Still, unwilling to sit idly, Naqenni took a step. And another. The earth did not disappear beneath her feet. She gave a testing breath, and then, antennae twitching with awareness, ever leery of what the atmosphere around her might contain, she progressed forward to explore.

Lasarra
Post 1 - Intro
HP: 25 HP

After working with a particularly stubborn animal one night Lasarra slid into the bed she shared with her husband gratefully. She needed the sleep, especially since she had promised to take both the twins out the next morning. That took more energy then she currently had in her. As she drifted off to sleep her mind was taken over and she was taken to the kind of peaceful place that she was in need of currently.

Drifting through the dream world Lasarra couldn't help but stop at certain memories. Her first meeting with Ray, the birth of their daughters. There was so much that she was thankful for in her life and watching it all before her very eyes made her very thankful. Her life hadn't been a walk in the park, she faced her fair share of problems, but she was blessed with so many good things in her life that it didn't even matter.

She was staring at a memory of her two daughters when all of a sudden there was a crack between them. Confused Lasarra took a step back, only to noticed that there were cracks all around her in the walls of her dreams. "No... No..." Lasarra rushed towards the memory of her girls with the intention of trying to patch the whole up, but she never got there. Before she could reach the wall of her dream it all started falling down, her along with the dreams around her.

While falling she passed out, but not for long as once she hit the ground she was wide awake. Looking around she felt trapped, enclosed under the dark sky. This dream was a dream no more, and Lasarra would give anything to get back to where she was before.

Eleina
Post 1 - Intro
HP: 20 HP

Lately her master had been working her to the bone. Maybe it was because he knew that she wanted to leave, that she was ready to go on her own adventure, or maybe he just felt like it. Either way Eleina was exhausted from the amount of work she was putting in. It was tiring and honestly more then she felt she could handle. If he kept at her like this she wouldn't be able to do it much longer. As she drifted off into sleep all of her troubles were erased and everything seemed perfect.

She was walking around her home, magic at her finger tips and her master and family telling her how proud they were. That was until they started fading and the wonderful dream that she was wrapped in was filled with cracks. Before she could even call to her fading mother Eleina felt the ground from bellow her feet start to cave, and she started to fall.

Once she landed Eleina stood up, looking around for any sort of land mark to tell her where she was. "Hello, anyone here!" She called in a frightened voice.
