x x x x x x x x xThe driver checked the time, exactly on the dot as expected. A heavily reinforced transport truck being lead and followed by two other reinforced black cars with dark tinted windows, it seemed like security for whatever they were transporting was on a full high. As they pulled up, a team of four men who resembled swat exited the end car and moved to the back of the truck, and one more exited the front car and moved to whoever would be receiving this delivery. The vehicles were unlabeled but it was obvious they had come from a high end research facility of some sort.
The man approached Tri and opened a locked briefcase and pulled out a sealed manila envelope that seemed to contain quite a bit of paperwork. On the cover it was stamped with classified and at the bottom the logo for Spectrum Research was markered out. "This is Experiment 001 - Code Hexxis, just as requested. It is contained and inhibited, but still be careful." as he spoke, the other four men opened the truck and out emerged a small child with purple hair, a dead pan face shifted her gaze to Tri. She began to walk with the four men toward Tri.
"I hope you have somewhere to contain it." he said passively then looked at his watch then back to Tri. "Good luck in your research. As you may be aware.. we were never here." he motioned the men to draw back to the car and they left.
Hexxis stood there, turning her head to look around at the unfamiliar setting she had been thrusted into. Her entire life had been spent with walls in gods knows what dark hidden place she had been stashed away in. This place was bright and more open. She then looked to Tri and stared at him, her face never changing from an emotionless one, so void of anything that you could easily mistake her for some kind of machine pretending to be a child.

Tri waited at the one of the loading and unloading bays that was built underground with a sloped road leading down to it. The moment he received word that a van with high security clearance had made it past the check point he went to wait for it after sending a text to Mara and grabbing one of the ear transmitters which he had promptly put on. Now he just watched the formation of the security detail placed on the subject and the two others cars and just made a note of it. Turning his gaze to the man who approached him he nodded and silently took the manila folder his own expression was blank. "Things have been prepared" was his only response as he watched them leave until only he and the child were left. Not to be afraid of her, but also not to underestimate her were the words Mara had passed on to him from one of her mysterious contacts. How much each was he supposed to give? Darkness swarmed up from the ground and engulfed the manila folder and his hand, once it faded the folder was gone, appearing on Mara's desk. "Hexxis, correct?" He said quietly as he watched her look toward the light that was coming from some of the skylights. They will be taking a sloping path up toward the courtyard area before heading to what Mara had prepared. He felt a twinge of anger at the risk, at not being told how dangerous she was or could be and allowing everyone here that same risk. //don't be afraid ... don't underestimate her//. " My name is Tri, come with me" he took a step forward and turned to look at her waiting to see what she will do. A child... it wasn't that long ago Ree was that age.

x x x x x x x x xHexxis kept her gaze on Tri, blinking slowly, taking in his features. She shifted her eyes to his wings, something she hadn't seen before. She had been around human scientists her whole life. This had been the first time she had seen a meta other than herself before. As he spoke her name, she seemed to perk up as her eyes flickered back to meet his silver ones. She was still waiting for her one visible eye to adjust to the lighting as the truck had been fairly dark. She nodded at him quietly, face still unchanged, eyes still emotionless. She shifted her gaze downward as he commanded her to follow him and she easily complied, walking beside him, the ends of her chains latched together for the time being. Hexxis' red eye flittered every now and again to different objects and people as they passed them, analyzing them carefully, remembering. All the while, she hadn't said a word, only did as she was told, a perfect subordinate.

Tri waited until she reached him before turning away and leading the way up. He missed Ree or even one of the human security guards to take up the rear , not bring one in the first place due to the fear of humans many metas had. Now he was kicking himself mentally for not at least putting on on stand-by. As they walked up the slope, that also doubled as a road into the courtyard, he glanced toward Hexxis taking the moment to actually view her carefully. The first thing to catch his eyes was the collar, one that was almost similar to his own, supplemented with two on her wrists connected with a chain. Boots covered his view of her ankles but maybe there were there too. Overkill, especially for a child. Then her eye...was it damaged? how about the damage the collar and bracelets have done? "Well this is fun"Mara's voice whispered through the comm at his ear but going from her voice fun was the furthest thing from her mind. "What?" he muttered quietly, glancing at the child but still leading the way until they reached the courtyard itself. Pale sunlight was filtering in through the clouds above but there were a few breaks allowing the full strength of the sun to shine through. It illuminated the greyish/white of the buildings surrounding it and a few off in the distance. All lower level areas were lobbies or waiting rooms with the only exception being a coffee/sandwich shop having exclusive rights to sell their wares to the employees inside. "I wonder how my contact will react if I gifted her a rabid porcupine" Trisuri raised a brow and just waited. "You're giving me that look aren't you? ::there was a sigh:: Okay " there was a pause. "Take her to the coffee shop.... tell her to pick anything she wants to eat or drink then go outside and eat it""What?!" Tri raised his hand and pressed the comm closer to his ear, there was a flicker of alarm on his face as he stopped abruptly. "Exactly as you heard. go buy something from the coffee shop, let her pick ..pick something for yourself ...both of you eat it outside then you can take her to the room. No I am not crazy... I will meet you when you get there"Tri stood still a few moments longer as he thought that through.. must be something from her file and so far ..there had been no trouble. The collar and bracelets were active and the previous detail had not restrain her more than she was. "What do you want to drink?" he said finally leading the way to the coffee shop as more employees and visitors walked on through. There were the normal glances directed toward Tri, a few even looking at the visitors who looked at him in amusement but now many were taking note of the collared and bracelet Meta by him. Tri muttered something quietly about Mara's mental state and he opened the door for Hexxis.

x x x x x x x x xHexxis had followed closely just behind Tri as they walked, keeping pace easily. As they reached the courtyard and into full view of the sunlight, she paused and drew back a bit as she moved her hand to shield over her visible eye for a moment, her other hand being dragged along for the ride as she had momentarily forgotten they were still clasped together. Her eye adjusted as she took in the sight. Her eye burned but she couldn't look away from the sky. It was so blue and full of life, she had never been outside before and she had most definitely never seen the sky or clouds or sunlight. Her expression still completely emotionless as her eye stared out into the endless sky.
The sound of Tri's voice broke her hold on the fixation as she lowered her head and hands and shifted her gaze to Tri for a moment. He seemed alarmed by something. Had she done something wrong? Now they were walking to an enclosed area with displays and signs, a foreign concept but she adjusted to the situation. A drink? Hexxis thought for a moment, he been that long since she last sustained herself. Yes, a drink would be good. But wait, there were choices? And furthermore she was allowed the choice? What an interesting facility she had been transferred into, no, she knew they owned her now. She was not a person, she was a weapon. Her eye shifted to he menu and analyzed it quickly. She was unfamiliar with the words and so she looked for a better way to choose. Hexxis turned to see what everyone seemed to be drinking, most adults drinking from a hot beverage container, was that appropriate? She pointed at a cup someone was holding without a word and then looked to Tri, her finger still directed toward her odd selection. Her face didn't show it, but she had no idea what she was doing.

Tri watched her waiting, even if she did not talk or change expressions she still gave off the feeling of being confused. It was in the way she moved and look around before pointing at someone's cup instead of a word or even a picture. That decided for him , he only cast a cursory glance at the person she pointed to and moved to the cashier. "Two hot chocolate and two glazed doughnuts " he said quietly, as he shifted to watch her while he took out the needed money and paid for the things. Taking the doughnuts he pass her one of the bags. There were soft mutters of speculations and he could hear them as he moved to stand by her, one of his lower wings lightly brushing against her. A new meta to join Mara's pet project? or a new specimen? Did Tri bring back another egg? why two bracelets as well as a collar and all three active? //Mara..// he thought his hand reaching up absently to touch his own collar under his jacket before bringing the hand down. It wasn't as if he wasn't curious as well but he wouldn't know until he was able to meet again with Mara. Until then he was flying blindly.. and that was not something he was happy with at all. As the barista placed down the two cups with a faint smile at both metas he muttered a thank you and sweeped up both the cups and the second bag before looking at Hexxis. "It's hot" he said handing the cup to her. "We're to go outside and eat it"

x x x x x x x x xIt seemed that Tri understood her confusion, and the request she had made. He began to order for them, all the while her eye began to wander upon the people in the cafe. They had been whispering about things she couldn't fully hear but understood the implications of their gossip. Hexxis slid her gaze to her own bracelets. She had never been questioned about her inhibitors before. They had always been a necessity, something that was absolute and never questioned. But here there were people gawking at them like they were abnormal. It was a concept she didn't quite understand. Or maybe they just didn't understand. As Tri handed her the bag and stepped closer, she could feel his wing lightly on her back. She had still been staring off at the humans that seemed more than interested by her presence, her other hand reached out and grasped onto Tri's coat. Hexxis blinked and continued to stare off. It wasn't until he held out a cup for her to grasp that she directed her attention back to him and let go of his coat. She held on to the cup firmly as he explained the nature of its temperature and she nodded in understanding. Outside. her eye flickered up to look at Tri directly, only a very slight glimmer of confusion and intrigue surfaced for a brief moment. She was being allowed to go outside? This was definitely nothing like she had previously experienced. It was so foreign to her that they were being so... nice to her. Part of her felt some kind of relieved, happy even, to be in a better situation, but the other part dreaded for the other shoe to fall, as though it was a ruse to get her to let her guard down, so she'd comply with more experiments. She didn't so much mind however, it was an accepted part of her life, so she was always compliant to experimentation, even if she knew it would hurt. Hexxis nodded once more and began to follow him, walking closer to him than she had before.

Tri looked faintly surprised to see her let go of his coat to grasp the cup, he had not felt her grab on in the first place. He mused about it as he opened the door for both of them. Including the faint flick of confusion and interest when he mentioned going outside.. was she not allowed too? He glanced down again as they walked toward a couple of benches, one that was shaded by at least one tree and was luckily not taken. Looking away again he took a sip of his chocolate as he tried to understand the sudden protective feeling that arose when he noticed her walking close to him. Her size reminded him of Ree but not her personality...then why? Yet, he did nothing to encourage or discourage the closeness. Instead he motioned to the bench in front of them and made no indication of going to sit himself. "Are you able to speak?" he may not have access to the file but it didn't mean he could not try to figure out the basics as he gave Mara time to so ..whatever the heck she was doing now. ------------
Mara shook her head with a sigh as she looked toward the file again and hanged up the phone. She had just ask for video of both the coffee shop and the courtyard for the current hour to be sent to her once it was done and for the surveillance video of the loading area for the same hour to be erased. A Gift....a gift. A bloody darn double edge sword was more like it. Plus..right out of Spectrum...or formerly Spectrum..weren't they supposed to be helping? hm..that will have to be a question for later.
Already they were moving what few things they had placed in specific room that they were going to give her to another more contained one as well as add a few things last minute from what they could find. Or at least her poor secretary was doing so, she was here breaking into Ree's room for one last thing. One she was sure he wouldn't miss one bit. Looking around the fairly clean room she moved toward the closet and dug out a green foot tall bunny that looked nearly pristine out from under a tiger, a bear, a whale, even a large mouse. The others had teeth marks on them but the bunny didn't. "Hmph. Hoppity hop hop to you mr bunny" she tucked it under her arm and left the room, locking it behind her.

x x x x x xShe broke her close pace as they approached the benches, resisting the urge to stare back up into the sky for now, maybe she'd be able to see more of it, so she didn't fret too much to soak up as much of the fresh air as she could. Tri motioned to the bench and Hexxis stared at it for a moment then compliantly climbed into the bench and sat upright. She focused her attention on the bag and cup, coming to the conclusion she would further let the beverage cool and carefully set it down next to her. Hexxis opened the bag and inspected the object inside thoroughly. The item was peculiar but she understood it was meant for eating. She pulled it out and took a bite, chewing slowly. It took her a moment, hesitating only slightly, then she began to eat the doughnut normally. After she finished it, she reached down and picked up the cup, steadying it with both hands as she took a sip from it, seeming to hesitate yet again. She blinked, eyes fixated on the cup then began to drink more.
Tri spoke, she halted her indulgence of the hot chocolate and immediately turned her attention to him, staring blankly at him as he asked her a question. The question itself was odd to her. "Yes." she answered in a monotone and emotionless voice, almost robotic in nature. She kept her eyes locked on him as she expected more questions. There was always more questions. This was just a part of the process. Something she willingly fulfilled.

Tri tilted his head slightly at the sound of her voice. Was that what Mara and Ree accused him of sounding like some times? It was odd to hear it coming from a child. "Do you want more?" he offered the second doughnut, not going to touch it nor was he going to give it to Mara now. He had other more important questions to ask but the location was not ideal with all those listening ears. Not when two people took a seat in one of the other benches in the full sun. "We're ready "Tri blinked and nodded before looking at Hexxis. "They are ready. " he motioned her to get up and follow stopping to wait. Mara along with three other researchers spoke quietly in front of the room as one technician inside checked the cameras before placing the protective plastic over them again. "No... We will need our own base values to compare too in the future. So yes a re-run of a majority of the test... except theses.. ive mared the ones where we will have to accept the previous values... I am sure you will understand why once you read them" she said handing out copies of one page to all three of them.

x x x x x xHexxis paused at the question of more. Not a question she had expected, she had assumed more questions about herself honestly, but she would still answer it none the less. Though, this was not a decision made without thought. She considered the other doughtnut, rather liking the taste of the first one and then nodded slowly. She took the doughtnut from him with care and began to eat it. Hexxis took up the drink in one hand and drank from it. As she set it back down, she titled her head back to look up at the sky through the shade of the tree. At least she didn't have to cover her face this time as her eye followed the shapes of clouds in the sky. She seemed rather fixated on the sky as she sat eating the confection. She was almost done by the time his voice broke the silence. They were ready. Ready for what? Hexxis assumed tests and experiments and nodded in compliance. She drank the little bit of hot chocolate from the cup and then climbed down from the bench as he motioned for her to get up. She threw the trash into the trash can next to the bench and then walked over to where Tri stood. She nodded yet again to confirm that she was ready to go and followed him, just as close to him as she had been on the way outside. Her eyes still analyzing objects, faces, and people as they passed down the corridors.

Tri watched her quietly, glancing up at the sky once but seeing nothing out of the ordinary before he turned and lead her through the doors to one of the buildings. They passed a waiting room with soft creams and whites and even some tans that made it almost seem serene, past a few people who were waiting and through some double doors that lead into a more utilitarian white corridor, one that spoke of age instead of the new like the waiting room behind them. There were less and less people the deeper they went until they were almost alone when they reached Mara and the others. "Madam?" he said quietly to catch her attention. Mara looked up and stared between them. "Hexxis correct? how was your trip" she motioned for them to come closer. "My name is (title) Mara Gold. You have been transfer into my care. Do you understand what that means?"

x x x x x xAs they continued to walk, she analyzed details of the corridors as she began to notice the slow decline of population the further they walked. It was to be expected, in fact she had been surprised to have been allowed to be around so many people especially with only one escort and no armed guards. They approached a human woman as Hexxis shifted her gaze to meet hers, taking in her face as well. She willingly moved forward when she was motioned to come closer and then Mara proceeded to ask her questions. Simple enough. She nodded to confirm her name. It was the informal part of her whole name, but it was an adequate means of referring to her. "Transport was on time." she responded mechanically, merely stating a fact and not considering her personal feelings about the "trip" as the intent of the question. Mara spoke, giving her title and name, things that Hexxis noted as important to remember, not that she had difficulty remembering things anyway. Another question was posed. "Experiment 001 Code Name Hexxis has been requested for transfer to new ownership by authority level..." she paused for a brief moment. "..unknown." her voice was soft but cold in nature, monotone as it regurgitated information that she had been previously given or that she had heard the guards saying. She stared at Mara for a few moments, then slid her eyes back to Tri very briefly before returning them back to Mara as she stood there, looking up at her.

Mara frowned as she listened to the meta recite things off as if they had nothing to do with her. As is she were a computer, repeating things without emotion when it obviously pertained to her. small part of her mind wondered what they had to do to get her to be this way, while at the same time not wanting to know. She knew there were no real standards or safeties in place for those they worked on, that landed fully on the person running the project and she had no delusions that many held her view, if any did at all. "Hexxis " she said once and waited, seeing if she had her full attention before continuing. "I understand that. I want to know if -you- understand what is happening. What is to be expected and why you are here" Feathers bristled slightly at her words. Owner... ownership as if they were nothing but pets. His shifted his stance slightly but otherwise he kept his calm outward appearance as he watched Mara and the other three researchers who had stayed back to watch. Eventually they would not be owned.. or pets or be forced to wear a collar for political purposes as he did .. only for those who couldn't control their power. Nor will children walk around traumatized by those who should be keeping them safe, instead of turning them into something for their own purposes. Mara wanted rights for them, safety for both species but still had to be a realist and work within her bounds. There was also the Sanctuary, if their words could be trusted..so slowly..slowly. He turned his focused back to her words...authority level unknown? who was that contact? He narrowed his eyes before turning to look at Hexxis waiting to see how she would respond to that.

x x x x x xMara didn't exactly look happy, which Hexxis began to think back on her words, had she said the wrong sequence, did she miss a part of her code? Was her function not clear? Her name was said again as she raised her head a little further to give Mara her direct attention. What was happening. Of course she did, she was being transferred per request. That was simple. She had stated that. Expected. She knew her what had always been expected of her. Why was she here. Despite the seemingly repetitive question, the last part stuck in her mind. Why did that feel like such an off thing to say. She seemed to be thinking, filing through possible responses in her mind to come up with a sufficient answer to the questions. Hexxis hadn't been asked such questions before so it was taking her at least a little effort to make sure that answer she gave would be correct. She attempted to answer one question at a time. That would be the easiest way to be clear on her statements. "I am being relocated to a new facility for confidential reasons." she thought of whether to add anything to the answer, but left it at that and moved on to the next question. "I am expected to follow protocols and have not been given any new tasks or directives." she blinked slowly, actually considering the final question. Why was she here? She was not allowed to know those reasons. It would be completely out of place to ask. It shouldn't even matter to her as long as she did as she was told. She hesitantly slid eyes back to Tri once again, seeing he appeared calm but was thinking on something. Hexxis turned her full attention back to Mara, realizing that she may be punished later for not staying focused in the presence of a superior. Though she accepted that possible fate. The thought still lingered, Hexxis had been quiet for longer than she could mentally hold back as she needed to say something. She settled on translating the meaning into why she existed. "I am a specimen used in science for the research of Metas." she paused there, unsure of whether to go into detail what kind of meta research she had been used for. Opening her mouth again, she continued, "I am also sufficiently ready for combat within specified access levels." She hoped that would suffice to answer the questions she had. It did strike her as odd, however, that they started off with these kinds of questions. Though, maybe they were wanting to make sure she wasn't defective. Her eyes fell slowly ahead then toward the ground. "I am also functioning properly." she finally stated as a matter of fact.
