RP Logs Divena Jareth peered through the bushes, shifting his wings against his back a bit more firmly. He was still too young to have learned how to fly. Not that he hasn't tried, of course, but his wings were too weak to hold him up... His attempts were more like extended jumps than anything else. But that wasn't the point. Right now, he was focused on finding his wayward baby brother. "You're here.... I know you are..." he mumbled. "Come out, come out, wherever you are....." Bardess Ookami Come out come out wherever he was? Was he hiding? He didn't know he was hiding, but he supposed he could be hiding. So he came put of the bushes he had been digging around in, a mouth full of flowers came out with him - but not in the eating sense, but the fresh picked sense. He trotted over to the other foal and set down the flowers.
"Were you calling for me?" he asked, his head tilting to one side, curiously. Divena Jareth stared at the other foal, his mouth hanging slightly open. This.... was not who he was expecting. But, until he found his little brother, it would do. The shocked expression was replaced by a wide grin. "Why yes, yes I was," he chirped, tossing his head arrogantly. Bardess Ookami "Did you want some flowers?" he asked. Why else would someone want him? Then he realized the someone in question was his sized. OH! A friend? Maybe? What maybe! Of course this foal wanted to be friends! Everyone wanted friends deep down!
"Do you want to play a game?" He asked, happily. "Or maybe sing a song? I know lots of good songs. Or we could pick flowers together!" Divena This guy... was an airhead. Jareth rolled his eyes slightly. "I'm already playing a game... but you can help, if you want." There was nothing in the rules that said he could enlist help. Bardess Ookami "Alright!" he said happily. "What sort of game? What are the rules? How do I help?" Divena "Have you ever played hide and seek before?" It seemed like a pretty basic game to him, but then again who knew? The rules might be too complicated for the airhead in front of him. Bardess Ookami "I have. But if you're the one seeking... how do you know he or she or whoever you're seeking didn't just run away while you were counting?" Divena "That's the whole point," he rolled his eyes. "You're supposed to run away and hide. That's why it's called hide and seek. He's around here somewhere. You can help me find him, since I found you." Bardess Ookami And clearly this stranger missed his point. But that was fine. Maybe the other foal had never seen anyone tricked that way. Aquarius liked that idea. A peaceful existence where everyone was nice and loved each other.
"Alright. What does he look like?" Divena Jareth considered how to describe his brother. "Well..... he's small," he finally answered. "Really small. With a white face. Like me, only his is white and mine's black." Bardess Ookami "So is he white all over? Or just his face? What color are his wings? Does he like flowers? We can set them out as bait, if he does." Divena "His face is the only white.... Well.. and maybe his ears," Jareth considered for a moment, then tilted his head. "I don't know about the flowers. What wings?"

IM RP Bardess Ookami "Wings. If he's your brother, doesn't he have wings? Like yours? I like your wings, by the way. Do you like my wings?" He turned to show them off. Divena "Um... yeah... Your wings are kinda cute, I guess." They weren't as awesome as his wings, but he wasn't going to say that. "And he's not reeeeally my brother. He's more like... I dunno.... a brother but not a brother?" Bardess Ookami "Family because of love! I love that! Okay! So white face, no wings! Got it! Lets find your brother, my brother! Then we can all be family!" Divena He gave the other foal an odd look. "Have you met Zahavah?" he asked, wryly. That sounded almost like something his adoptive mother would say. Only more air heady. Bardess Ookami "No. Is that another brother? Is this Zahavah also playing hide and seek? How many foals are we seeking? Is he a foal? Is he a he? Does he have wings?" He couldn't wait to meet everyone! Divena "Zahavah is like a mother," Jareth explained with a roll of his eyes. "Well.... is a mother... I guess.... She adopted me and my brother when she found us." At least, he assumed that Zahavah had found them. She never said otherwise, though the other adults sometimes joked about her basket-napping ways.... eh, it didn't matter. "She doesn't have wings." Bardess Ookami "Oh wow! What is she like? I don't know if I have a mother. Do I have a mother? Do I need a mother? Can everyone just be my brothers and sisters? Can I share a watering hole with everyone? Can I grow apple trees? Can we have snow white turtle doves? And then maybe... maybe we can all sing together?" he asked. While he asked he was, yes, actually looking for the other foal. Divena Jareth watched him, wondering if he ever stopped with the questions. No, strike that... "Do you ever shut up?" Bardess Ookami "I don't know. Maybe. I never tried. Why? Should I try? Would it make you happy if I tried?" Divena "....maybe," Jareth answered, wryly. Maybe this guy was touched in the head. Bardess Ookami "Okay, then I'll try, just tell me when, and watch me try!" Divena "How about now. You can start right.... now," Jareth said, deciding he'd type the other fellow. He gave the foal two minutes. Bardess Ookami He opened his mouth to say "okay" then closed it before the word could come out. He could do this! It was a fun new game! He bounced around, still hunting for the other foal.
And then he found the other little one. And he almost called out, but the game was to keep his mouth shut, so he winked at the hiding foal, and wordlessly moved on, wondering what fun things he could find, now that he found the fun person.
And if his new friend asked why he didn't tell him he found their brother? Well, then he'd know he'd won! Divena Calavera had squeaked a bit when he was found, then blinked and frowned at the wink. He had been zoning out, not really listening to the conversation going on outside his hole. Jareth watched the other foal, mentally counting the seconds.

IM RP Bardess Ookami He would keep on being quiet as he searched, singing songs in his head like some non-demented angel of music. Divena It didn't take Jareth long to get bored with this game. But then... he didn't have to be quiet, did he? "Soooo....." Of course, now his mind blanked. Bardess Ookami He looked over, and tilted his head at Jareth questioningly. Did that mean that he was allowed to speak now? He wasn't going to take the bait of a feint, he wanted to be told he had won. Divena Jareth started to try another ploy to get him to talk when a small spark of color caught his attention. With a grin, he nosed a bush. "Found you!"Calavera peered up at him and made a face before coming out of the bushes. He eyed the stranger. "Who's he?" Bardess Ookami He glanced over, and managed not to sigh. Ah well.
And then he was asked a question. But how to answer without losing the game - without speaking. He considered, then grinned, he had an idea.
He went back to where he had dropped the flowers and began arranging them, carefully. It took effort, a lot of effort, to use his mouth to settle them just so. He worked with patience and art that seemed asynchronous with his age and excitement. Finally he stepped back. the stems were loosely woven - very loosely - to form the letters of his hame, dotted here and there with the flowers themselves. Divena Little Calavera watched this all curiously before reading the name aloud. "Hi, Aquarius! I'm Calavera! Are you our new brother?" Jareth winced. Dear spirits, he hoped not. Bardess Ookami Seeing the look on Jareth's face, there was of course only one way to reply. He offered Calavera a bright smile and nodded. Divena "No he's not!" Jareth protested. "He's never even met mom!" Bardess Ookami He danced about happily. Alright, he'd meet her. Divena "So, we'll just take him home to meet her," Calavera said, cheerfully. Divena "He's not even supposed to be here!" Jareth argued. "She won't be happy to see him." Bardess Ookami He was getting impatient with this not allowed to talk game. Her went over and headbutted the other foal gently. Divena "Gyah," Calavera yelped, rolling over when he was nudged. "How come he's not talking?" Jareth smirked. Bardess Ookami He pointed his nose at Jareth. Divena "He's playing the silent game," Jareth explained. "Oooh... I'm really good at that game," Calavera told him with a grin. "But you win. You can talk now."] Bardess Ookami He beamed brightly. "Thank you! I told him I could do it! Hide and seek was a more fun game though, than the silent game. It's hard to sing while being silent! Hi, I'm Aquarius." Divena "I'm Calavera," the tiny foal chirpped, cheerfully.

IM RP Bardess Ookami "It's wonderful to meet you! So we're brothers now? I like that. Do you know any good songs?" Divena "I don't know any songs," Calavera said, apologetically. "Do you?" Bardess Ookami "I know lots of great songs! Would you like me to teach you one? Divena "Yeah, sure!" Jareth groaned. Bardess Ookami He grinned and cleared his throat, then began to sing. He had... a surprisingly clear voice.
When the moon is in the Seventh Forest And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius The age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!
Harmony and understanding Sympathy and trust abounding No more falsehoods or derisions Golden living dreams of visions Mystic crystal revalation And the mind's true liberation Aquarius! Aquarius!
When the moon is in the Seventh Herd And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius The age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!
He bounced a bit when he finished. "I like the song, cause it's all about me! I think! Not sure what it means! But I like it! Do you like it too?" Divena "It sounds really fun... what were the lyrics again?" Calavera bounced slightly, ignoring Jareth's grimace. Bardess Ookami He smiled happily for his new brother, and settled down onto the ground comfortably, then began to sing again, going more slowly this time, so that the lyrics could be understood more easily. He would worry about the tune once the brothers had the words down.
"When the moon is in the Seventh Forest And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius The age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!

When the moon is in the Seventh Herd And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius The age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius! "
"Got it now?" he asked. Divena "I think so," Calavera nodded, though he really wasn't. "Do you know any other songs?"

IM RP Bardess Ookami "Sure! Lots and lots of them!" he said happily, bouncing around. "Do you want me to teach any others?" Divena "Please no," Jareth groaned."Yeah!" Calavera agreed, happily. Bardess Ookami "Alright! What song do you want me to teach you?" Divena "What other songs do you know?" Calavera asked, curiously. Jareth, bored, wandered off a bit. Bardess Ookami "Hundreds, though some of them make less sense than others. But they're all still good songs."
Divena "What sort of songs are they?" Calavera asked, curiously. Bardess Ookami "All sorts, really. Songs about love and about peace and songs that make sense and songs that make no sense, and songs that almost make sense if you close one eye, tilt your head and squint."
Divena "What are your favorites?" Calavera settled down, finding this stranger fascinating. Bardess Ookami "Often the sad ones. Or the ones that make no sense," he said after a moment's thought on the question. Divena "How come? I mean, the ones that make no sense could be fun... but why sad ones?" Bardess Ookami "Because I like to feel, and they make me feel, I guess," he said with a shrug. I cry, or I'm sad, or I appreciate the things I still have in a way I might have forgotten to before. You can't have joy without sorrow, you need one to truly appreciate the breadth and depth of the other." Divena Calavera considered that for a long moment. "I guess.... but it still seems like it'd be better to be happy than sad." Bardess Ookami "If you are never sad, how happy could you be?" he asked, then started singing softly.
Don't tell me you wanna be The kind of stallion who's drowning And don't go clinging on to anything That's gonna keep you frowning, darling
Everyone's compelled to look into the water When they're crying Just because your tears are pretty Doesn't mean they'll get you by
So sing me a sad song, and make me feel better Sing me a happy song and I might start to cry Because everything feels like it's going around in circles And everyone knows that the world is upside down
You were once a little foal Full of optimistic wonder So what got into you to make you think That it could pull you under, honey
Could it be that we were under The impression life was perfect? (La, la, la, la, la) And when the bubble burst We understood that every part of it hurts
Sing me a sad song and make me feel better Sing me a happy song and I might start to cry Because everything feels like it's going around in circles And everyone knows that the world is upside down
I'm going to color my glasses rose And I'm going to follow where the rainbow goes And my pot of gold will be waiting
Sing me a sad song and make me feel better Sing me a happy song and I might start to cry Because everything feels like it's going around in circles And everyone knows that the world is upside down
Yeah, everyone knows the world is upside down Divena Calavera listened, trying to pay attention to the words, but the sound of the other foal's voice was just so nice... Calavera found himself slightly distracted. "That was pretty.... and kinda upbeat.... Wasn't it?" now he was confused.

IM RP Bardess Ookami "Upbeat but sad. I like songs like that too. Ones that seem to be happy until you listen to the words, or that seem to be one type of song until you listen closely and realize that it is actually rather silly instead."
Divena "That seems rather tricky," he wasn't sure if he liked that or not. Bardess Ookami "They are," he agreed. "But that trickiness means that you can listen to the same song a dozen times, a hundred, a million, and still find something new and fun or hear it in a different way." Divena "Wouldn't the same song get boring after awhile?" Calavera knew his brothers had short attention spans. He couldn't imagine any of them listening to the same song over and over. Bardess Ookami "For some songs, yes. But not as much for the tricky ones," he explained, patiently. "Or the ones that really move you." Divena He thought about that, and it made sense. "Okay... but how do you tell the difference?" Bardess Ookami "Listen to a song twice, paying attention to the lyrics closely the second time. If it seems different, it might be a tricky one." Divena "Might? Why wouldn't it be a tricky one if it's different the second time?" Bardess Ookami "Because it might be that you misunderstood something one of the two times, or that a different singer interpreted it differently, so emoted differently which could change the song a great deal. I mean if I sing "Eats, shoots, and leaves," in an angry tone with a thumping of hooves for a beat, it seems like someone attacking. But if I sing more peacefully and slowly, with less pauses. "eats shoots and leaaaaaves....." sounds like I'm talking about someone's snack."
He grinned a bit.
"So sometimes the difference comes from the way it is sung, rather than if it is a tricky song or not. Sometimes you also bring to a song your own emotions and state of mind, so a song could be a cheerful song the first time you hear it, then if it reminds you of someone and that someone dies, it could become a sad song. Without being a tricky song." Divena He considered all of that, and it all still made sense. "Okay... so... how do you know if it's different because of those things or because it's tricky?"
